I think Konig is right, plus he really does know his lore. I also don’t see the point in this thread as Abaddon existed regardless of this fractal, so it’s kind of irrelevant.
I think this entire thing is beyond dumb. The entire focus of the game with you as the protagonist is that you are a goody twoshoe, I don’t know the spelling for the expression. Now we can support this self-centered, money grubbing character, from a story perspective to make sense, why on Tyria would we?
abbadon is a Big part of the lore and a great enemy, The reactor thingy i bet will be just a instance whit a bunch of asura fighting the consortium thats is nothing meaningless to the story lore.
wait, you say abaddon is a bit part of the lore, and then go on to know nothing about the thaumanova reactor? The consortium were rival merchants involved with southsun cove, thaumanova reactor was destroyers and inquest, and speculated to have something to do with the steam creatures.
The most important thing I want to know is why Abaddon hates dancing!
He’s a much better dance, to the point where when challenged to a dance off, you just get served.
I want it to be fun and show the avatars and statues of the gods as they were in gw1. I don’t like their updates to the statues, feels wrong. A few things that puzzles me, what was Menzies doing at the time, who was in charge of the underworld at the time, and who was the goddess of water and secrets before abaddon, and how long was it after he took her place that he fell?
I’m voting for Kiel because it’s the right decision. that and the 90% of the vocal group voting for evon are just plagued with misconceptions.
While I want Evon to win, and actually think he likely will, I think ANet really may have been, for whatever reason, encouraging Kiel as the winner.
She’s been the main character in the past few Living Story events, and Evon came completely out of nowhere.
Too bad for ANet they aren’t great at writing important NPCs, and players often end up hating their guts (Kormir, Trahearne, Logan, Varesh etc).
idk, there have been a number of well done characters. The Vizier(became the lich), Shiro and a lot of people from factions honestly, and Palawa Joko, and even then Kormir really wasn’t that bad, and yeah everyone knows of Kormir becoming the god, even if she hadn’t, tales of success in Elona wouldn’t have gone very far as Palawa Joko rules it with an iron fist. I liked Kiel, I thought she was very important to the plot lines, but I think I’m more curious about the fall of Abaddon and the temporary contents don’t mean much to me. That and I hope Abaddon uses his concept art form instead
Why experience the imprisonment of a god, or a massive experiment gone wrong, when you can experience the rebirth of Elona at the hands of a true hero? Vote for someone with centuries of experience and proven leadership abilities!
#VotePalawaJoko
god dang it. that was great, #VotePalawaJoko
And so far no ones menioned keg brawl has nothing to do with the consumption of alcohol
I have to say hellfire, not because I think it looks like cof armor, I don’t really see it, sure it’s firey, but more importantly, it’s destroyer armor, and I loved destroyer weapons in gw1, this game as well
I’m pretty sure taking a swig of alcohol reduces your health by 20%, not 10%.
Yeah, I noticed that, but I only really noticed it against Adnul, it could be against everyone, but adnul is so annoying it’s much more apparent.
You can only charge one quartz crystal per day and it has to be from one of the commune with a place of power skill points.
are you opening the same fallen kite basket? you can only open each one once a day.
you can make as many Zenith weapon skins as you want, you get them from the achievement panel
It’s not GW1 concept art, it’s early GW2 concept art. Tengu are expected (but not confirmed) to be the first new playable race, with their home city being the Dominion of Winds.
Also, this forum thread should be moved to somewhere that makes sense.
That specific picture was guild wars 1 concept art. I do believe tengu will be the first playable race, for reasons others have already stated.
so thats what the quartz is gonna be used for.
Why do people not read the kitten blogs……
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/new-account-achievement-rewards-incoming/
That doesn’t necessarily mean quartz won’t have anything to do with it, I wish people would stop making assumptions as though they know how the reward system will exactly work.
I can wait for the codes for zenith weapons, they do look cool though
Most of the players in my guild play about 1-4 hours about 5 days a week. After some months, we had seen most of it and most only met on guild days to play together. Many of us stuck to the game in hope for the anticipated expansion, as it is usual for a game like this.
The living story (read all of mrstealth.6701, he is right in every aspect) offers 1 day of new content every two weeks. This might be good enough for gamers, who play the game anyway, it does not get anyone back to the game.
This is the big difference to an expansion. Quite some of our guild used to stick to the game in hopes for an expansion sometime in the future. An expansion offers some months of content and fun for the whole guild. The people come back together to enjoy it. The living story – suspecting it would get better – only offers some hours of difference – then business as usual. It just not worth doing it and it is most definately not worth coming back in numbers for it.
This leads to the same problem you have now, more or less, and was a problem they wanted to fix from the first GW, people would beat the game fast and then be left wanting more while others haven’t caught up. If they go the expansion route, you have some months of new content and then you’re back to waiting. Living story, where 2 weeks of content doesn’t seem like a bad way to go at all
Just to clarify a bit, as Mike said there are numerous teams beyond our Living World teams, and some of them are working on much longer term projects which we’ll go into details on much further down the road.
It’s entirely possible some of the types of content which you might traditionally find in expansions would be released through an expansion in the future for Gw2, and it’s possible we’d try something different when it comes to integrating those type of releases.
We have no final plans one way or another about expansions at this time, and certainly haven’t ruled them out, it’s something we’ll discuss more in the future.
Edited to add: Our primary focus right now is on making the core Gw2 experience as strong and compelling as possible, we’ll release a blog post later this month detailing more specifically our plans for Gw2 in the second half of 2013.
“And it’s possible we’d try something different when it comes to integrating those type of releases.” But maybe some of us don’t want it in another way simply because if it’s not done as an expansion it means you need to focus on the gem-store and a focus on the gem-store is bad for the game.
Like the gold-driven system, temporary available items, making sure farming mats is not possible and so on.
“some of them are working on much longer term projects which we’ll go into details on much further down the road. …. We have no final plans one way or another about expansions at this time”
So thats very bad as it means that there will not be any expansion soon and the way to make money will be the gem-store focus.
“Our primary focus right now is on making the core Gw2 experience as strong and compelling as possible”
And you do not do that with the gem-store focus I was telling about but no expansion means gem-store focus. It;s the one or the other. You guys are not working for nothing aren’t you?You seem to forget that a substantiate number of your customers when for this game because it was B2P. And those that where interested in GW2 for that reason also had reasons not to go for a subscription based game and for a F2P game… Where the most likely reason not to go for a F2P game would be the cash-shop focus. And that does not just mean B2W it also means all those thinks we have lately see in GW2. The gem-store has les and les become an optional thing and more and more really a part of the game but even worse, game mechanics are designed around it trying to get people to buy from it but those same mechanics are bad for the game.
Just come with good expansion, make some money on that and then you can leave the focus on the gem-store and stop building game mechanics around that but build game-mechanics around having a good game. Then again if there are no plant at this moment it might already be to late.
The gemstore is entirely cosmetic, you don’t have to buy anything, no one does. Some people do, that’s great. While I may not like that some skins are rng dependent, it seems people do as you see enough people buying them, even though a lot also post in threads to complain about them. In a way, that kind of means they are focusing on the game, as people wouldn’t make purchases on a game they’re completely unhappy with, so it is in Arena Nets best interest to focus on the game with cosmetic cash shop incentives.
why is everyone freaking out, living story doesn’t mean we won’t see the other dragons or Elona or Cantha, it’s just that it will have to be built up to it. maybe we just unlock a harbor and instance in Cantha when/if we go back there. there’s the zone outside the south area of ascalon, when we see elona, it’ll probably start there. It basically was just explained it’ll be content eased into important things
I don’t see how anyone could argue this won’t be an expansions worth of content. How long do you play expansions? we will see new areas and dungeons, and if it comes up, new races and professions if needed. it’s just not going to be presented all at once. I’ll admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of living story stuff, but overall it’s something to do and work towards and I’m happy I partake in it. Also some races share models, like the tengu and charr I believe so new races aren’t out of the question.
New races need new home areas and new racial personal stories, new skills and racial armor. It’s not just a matter of mesh wrapping existing armor to a new body.
You can’t realistically make the tengu a playable race and not create the entire walled off tengu area at the same time.
Hell, the Tengu as a playable race could be it’s own purchasable expansion by itself.
While it’s not impossible, it just doesn’t fit into their current method.
Well yeah. Racial skills are kind of toned down profession skills, they would need their own stories and home instance, but we know where that is. It could happen with living story stuff

I’m not concerned, it seems like they intend to do expansion-like things, but spread out. I remember reading an interview during GW2’s development that they recieved both good and bad feelings about GW1 expansions, that some people were able to finish it very quickly while others were unable to keep up, I doubt I could find the source, but I believe I recall correctly. And if it’s still possible to see new zones, professions, races, dungeons, etc; I’m all for living storys. He even said if this all goes right, so it’s not like everything will, we may see expansions depending on how all this goes. What honestly bothers me the most, is Zadorojny is also the dredge general who believes the destroyers will work for the dredge. :P
huh. they went for the “so obvious they’ll never realize it” approach. time to cleanse my guardian
While all that is true, I’d rather be safe than sorry. for the most part.
Thank you Gaile Gray, I’m thankful this is getting a response, I’ll wait patiently for the verdict.
I remember there used to be elixir bottles in one of the personal story quests, but it was removed eventually. I don’t think anyone got in trouble with it, but I too am curious as if I could save some karma or money on the thirst slayer title, I’d be happy. At the same time, it makes you invulnerable so you could just afk the area and set it to autoattack. so it doesn’t really matter if it’s in a combat area. the achievement is kind of absurd, but I would hate to be banned because I did that.
Sweet. this is very good news
I just want to say, I’ve used a few spiky fruit, they’re fun but do not belong in wvw at all. They’re great when you’re by yourself gathering or doing an event, because wvw is where I go to do dailies and level up sometimes, and someone tries to kill you, it’s nice to kitten them off instead of getting screwed. However, you’d really think after golems in a box that they’d have gone over stuff, but nope.
The swamp? easy? those walls, they’re too strong. but really all the fractals are a lot of fun to me. have yet to hit 8 though.
well. at least they’ll do something about those who missed it. still makes me sad I missed it; however, I wouldn’t have been able to get the one at noon so I missed an overflow one that started late, still a huge bummer, to get to an overflow with it make it halfway and then dc.
