Guardian w/o traps or meditations it is a bad build cause it gets killed easilly so players need to play with what Anet enforces.

hammer has some of best def for a tablet healer i tried running staff it just horrible x.x maybe i just suck with it xD

actually its good because it has aoe 1200 range skill every 4sec u can do your work from the the midle of back of the group.

what if players could vote on a list of players that took the tactivator action?
This would pop up to guild that owns the structure and players nearby that structure.

player X used tactivator at XPTO

Players after some points would loose the capabilityto dorp or use siege / tactivators and this would be account based, not character based.

ThousandArmy.3250, EOTMis not a offical WvW part, its just another map in the mist but far from be integrated into the wvw score, that was suposed to be a like waitting room to for players that were queued to enter in the 3 bl maps or EB.

EOTM is a map where no matter wich color you end , you wil l have always that map, you will even find players that do not belong to your server or linked server there, as in green color is all green servers across all matchups, the same logic happens for blue and red.
You need to play in EB, your server HOME Borderland, and follow some commander that is leading an atack in enemy borderland.

This is one of the reasons eotm needs to be removed ._.

Your point is? I was comparing two weapons for their capabilities in healing, comparing them on a healing build (in a thread discussing the viability of guardian healers) is just common sense.

Just a thing that i kept pondering, since to achieve the suposed healing builds to compare the weapons, u need to sacrifice alot of stats where guardian needs more.
I think i was thinking to much on practical way and was not reading the thread fully as in onlly on weapon comparisson.

Thats a 10-14k hp guard?

Btw classes are tuned for pve, if they improve guardian it becomes inkillable reason they say it is balanced overall.
While in wvw we cant even use mace aa chain or get close to massive lag and aoe spam…

And when u try to cast mace simbol… nope interrupt and downed, that skill sometimes stop casting if i take my finger form the key…. and its sloooow.

Golems rush only work agaisnt servers that are empty while u invade with much larger group, its just a “Ktrain” to farm structures for rewards like eotm.

and btw OP, all player spell that aborv and reflect will also do the same for golem missiles, use wall of reflection there, in the interval of the siege shield, get guardians and mesmers on the inner side of the gate with the shields as well.

Btw bombing with mesmer does a similiar job already, tghere are some skills that when stacked and bombed in one place will take larger groups, still need alot of mesmers for that.

Imagine Gravity Well bombs without AoE cap… The ammount of tears would flood Tyria.

my guild last a year did a full mesmer group…the drivers asked to us to bomb a larger groups with that…
every one stacked the bombing… in like what… 2 seconds the whole group was wiped, all was left was a few straglers that were not stacked, its was about 20 gravity wells stacked with another 10-15 null fields straith after the elite skills in one place….

Besides, mass invisibility with all mesmers spamming portals in all directions makes large groups fleeing as well :|

Macros are alowed in non competitive gameplay no one cant stop players from using it yet game developers usually find a way to discourage players form usign it, even on competitive gameplay the macros that are alowed are macros that change your keybinding settings (moslty….saldy ive met people who have some pre macros rotations -.-).
my keyboard has Mkeys like the Fkeys stiull Mkeys are only to change binding on skills deppendinly form the class i play, macros to press/use rotation are usually punished.

20k health is more then enough to frontline in wvw, i usually sit around 18k. If you can’t stay alive on that build with 20k health and 4k armor, 4.4k armor when ressing someone, guardians health pool isn’t the issue, you are and i would recommend looking at your play to fix mistakes.

The sharpening stone on the build is the +100 toughness one, not the regular one, is karka armor even usable in wvw?. You can take off RF and use the quickness shout if you have enough guardians in your party.

Pair this build with an aura/boon spam tempest and another guardian and a rev and you’ll have perma vigor,regen,swiftness,protection and retal, and really high stab uptime plus resistance from rev. Boon uptime over all the boons listed above should never be an issue between the guardians/ele/revs. If you’re looking for a fifth party member you could add another of the 3 classes already listed if you just want sustain, or add a trailblazer necro or a damage focused hammer/greatsword berserker if you’re looking to add more damage to your parties. Power necro also works, though with how strong epidemic is right now i highly recommend taking a condi necro.

The elite signet on guardian makes me sad. Sitting still in wvw for the 3 and a quarter seconds it takes to cast is basically a death sentence.

Very true, atm im far far squishy than i was bfore hot cause im still playing as if i was before HoT specs, i could draw fire from enemy to 1 side while party pushed from the other side, now it is not possible, if i try that even shelter or RF they get instantly interurpter as well, boons removed etc, and im a bit fed up with that… :}
But theres as well to much skills from the offensive side carrying its players as well.

(sidenote)
There are several issue as well for me to be dyign easilly most time its my fault, but sometimes when i get 2-3 hits each one doing 9-12k damage… its game over, still i admit it but i dont care much about them now since game hold no true value atm most time is capping empty structures and run from a stacked server with 5-10 players at my side, so i stop to care to play as a team, i stop to care to use voice comms, etc.

I would disagree, but whatever. Dire condi bunker and full zerk with tons of damage multipliers are pretty unbalanced, at least for me. I think one thing that all people can agree on is that its not very fun to fight against these specs. Amulet system would kinda tone them down without making either unviable. The bunker meta for zergs would also be toned down, meaning fights take less time, meaning more fights.

As a solo roamer perspective : I have fun playing against full zerk thief or mesmer or necro or whatever. I don’t mind seeing all condi mesmers or engie or warrior. As long the oponent is skilled enough to give a good fight, don’t ooc every 30 seconds and isn’t a full nomad staff guardian (that spec just triggers me) I have fun.

that is where i disagree, buffing would not make it like 300, :} since the 300 spartans had mad skill and were not being carried by aoe spaw :P, and thus were i believe more single target game(skills) would make better player survive and kill instead of having bad players performing gimmick rotation to try to win, wich is actually what gw2 is a litle bit atm.

Still i do agree with increasing the aoe cap of aoe classes.

Thats why both AOE and DD skills in DAOC had their place…skilled 8vs8 combat was almost solely based on DDs, while group still had chance against zergs because single mezz spell would make whole zerg “zzz”, then your casters would just AOE them to the ground

Added bonus was “deathspam”, people could see in chat log who killed whom, even made creative names to add to the fun, like

……. was killed by Overextending

……. was killed by Youcankeepthearrow

It was VERY good way to make game more social

Still gw2 isnt Daoc, u dont have the same sustain, the same healers, its diferent, no groups could sustain aoe bomb in gw2, would result the smaller group loosing always, u need to think how squishy every is in gw2 even bunkers(sturdiers builds) melt here…

Amulet system would make the builds less diversive, all DH would play medi trapper, i would be forced to medi trap and use utilities that i dont like.

Players would be playign what they play on spvp imo that is limiting the game and take options out of the to force player to play X way.

I dont do gw2 pvp (with this acokitten) cause i hate how i have to play in a way that i dont like, this would be the ultimate fatality to leave the game.

Trade in 800 of that armor (3300, but could trade 600 for 3500, diminishing returns after 3500) and get that base HP up for condi defense. You can easily keep that attack power while having 3300 armor and with bl map buffs 29k HP.

I ran with a 4k armor 20k hp guard in wvw once, it was hilarious. Zerg surfing at its best.

oh before hot i was a wall, needed to get spiked/ganked if i maneged ot block the high damage skills, now alot of stuff does alot of damage while i cant response back besides blokc block, dodge, shout to remove contions, block to remove condition and small heal, mace 1, mace 2, block to remove more condition ,mace 1, down…REKT…

Even RW, shelter, f3 with stability are getting easilly interrupted at the inital second while under effect(not interrupted in the cast process), when that happens… rekt due tons of CC and cant use the skills.

I think so, players would had to call out X class/team need to search for Y classes more players would have to pay atention to whom they are atacking and whom are atacking back(more visual game and teamplay ), more like paper, rocks, scizor instead of stack for damage output spikes at range, or keep pressing 1,1,1,1,2,3,4,5 while u keep your eyes at the driver, wich is a meh.. weak concept of combat and that leaded to this staleness.
And for sure people would cry less about op classes for sure, since when ur not the target of the atacker u just eat the damage just because ur near the guy that it is beign atacked lol…and when we talk about damage its in both melee and conditions.

The range fights would have another way to be played since 1 cannot rush into the other group expecting to hurt with cleave some players but several players would gank him, players as in teams would have to play with call targts while following the commander/driver, we could see more variety of builds besides aoe staking and durability rune hordes, maybe player would have to get organized in very diferent ways, and aoe classes would be very valuable but still dependable from the other groups, maybe even conditions would become balanced since it is easy to kill players that even have condi cleanses, sicne they are getting condition for all targets being atacked nearby.

Groups could start figthing at range first but then would start calling targets or starting to notice other teams roles on the other side, since rush a group would not be a clever thing if they had good aoe support or decent players they would get eaten by the aoe call, still if the aoe cap would be increased a bit and maybe some aoe skills could have their ranged increase that could pressure in the way some player wanted to pressure larger groups.

Wonder as well if game would lag less….since has much less calculation and animation to distributa data do the clients.

@Stand The Wall.6987 that would be interesting, at least for some classes or some weapons really makes sense, still would require some bit of heavy CD, and completelly agree with the blasts and combos.

Well no lol that was a metaphor. The metaphor works because like real combat where if you make one mistake youre dead, decreasing the aoe cap achieves the same. Single target skills have their place, just as aoe skills do. What happens when you make aoe skills hit less people is that numbers matter more then skill. Bad players perform gimmick rotation? So a group of 5 using a complex rotation where all of their cooldowns are used, that takes perfect timing and execution to master, that changes the moment they face a more competent enemy, is a bad gimmick? No, its called skill, and the opposite is what wvw is a little bit atm.

But that would make the game only aoe…. that would be awfull the part of having already tons of cleaves and aoe is what is disturbing the game lack of balance outside pve.

And ^^ i dont feel the “complexty rotation” , that for me is just press buttons this order, i dont see it as in player skill, and can u imagine all fight would be like who presses best order of keys…?
Remind the old echo invokers 4 ele team on Team Arenas, that wasnt being skilled, it just worked well when spiking targets due damage and crit, or when runing several echo invokers in AB.

If so remmember the coms we needed to get good?
Even meta builds could not be played by every one if u dont had a bit of skill on the game, still targets had to be called, ganks had to called every thing was made in team play, the interrupts by mesmers and rangers that was being skilled,, every one had its targets designed and was need to adapt to the batlefield instead of stack to to press butons in a order and be punished if fail, that imo is far from being skilled gameplay.

This is the gw2 issue , classes were built for a dumb pve they dont even need to see what target they are hitting…since cleave + damage stacking do the work.

I would remove cleave mainly from autos and some skills, players need to learn instead of spam what and how to atack/engage, or could reduce the cleaved damage to avoid people getting carried by that, only fully aoe combos could do what ur asking, still i dont see it as much as player side skill.

The Spartan blades werent AOE either XD, and didnt cleave that much.
If u had to much aoe it will be a blender machine not the spartan movie feeling :], for that warrior shield had to protec targets behidn the warrior as well wich actually some mmos have that mechanic and warrior rotate shield wall lie the romans and spartans did, and classes had to be more determined roles.

GrahamW.5397, that build would actually be amazing for support if guardian had more 5k health XD and u could take Writ of persistence :P, since does no damage ouput and damage will shred apart defensive builds that do no damage.

That build(role) only works when u have a good team, the issue ive find with suport/heal guardian is that he is easilly killed due lack of health, the sacrifice of stats to achieve decent/acceptable support IMO is a bit to much, since im a litle bit banzai and like to be in the fronline due how game is being played i would not survive since boons get instantly removed after cast or transformed to conditions, lots CC and aoe’ed...

Latelly ive seen lot of guardian trying healing builds with the elite signet, they are the first ones to go down and when they heal somehitng (where they need to not have health at maximun, other wise signet wont pulse the low 600-700 heal every 8-10 secs).
RF is a must elite skill, it feels it is the only elite skill we have, all other skills need to be reworked… :\

btw why use sharpening stone with 1000 power if that roles is purelly to rez and support why not use potion karka toughness (+150 amor) to combine with the 10% damage reducing from the mussel pasta?

Gw2 isnt daoc :\ i played daoc as well, altough not much as i wanted at that time.

Still in gw2 the enemy eles would eat up your 5-8 eles/aoe classes as well, since gw2 isnt daoc, you could not cant stand all the aoe hitting you as well, what would happen would be, yous guys cast 1 or 2 skills, dodge dodge and go down, reason allmost all cleave skills had to go, within that trade, so theres less “splash damage” from cleave and that could give a chance for the 5-8 aoe classes to kite.

Still we need to talk with what we have toi play not with the IF’s game did this or that, we need to discuss what can be done to achieve a good AOE skill cap(wich i assume what is the topic about), with the current system/game were playing.

I know but to increase aoe cap on “true aoe skills” u need to reduce on other skills.

None of this makes sense, and you continue to not read the entire post.
1. increasing cap = skills hitting less targets
2. true aoe skills = wat
3. need to reduce other skills = why

I have readed it, what would happen is that players would stack only aoe classes more than ever to try to spike faster than enemy group can spike, abit with what we already have but on steroids, it would be even worse what we have now with alot of mindless spam, wvw fights would be even worse, alto of skills would loose their meaning liek wall of reflections domes, rangers etc… due how easy aoe would become.

i as well played game with no aoe cap, but those game had diferent mechanics, in gw2 its defirent it is a action mmorpg not a traditional, and here it is easy to be carried by damage, HoT specs are broken because they were designed for pve where no brains are needed, and dont forget spvp, and the other more wich i cant reccall the name, where aoe is as well what is most important, increase to 20 targets would make it really bad.

As in true aoe skills, since u had less aoe/cleaves that would make the aoe real important and players would have actually not to waste them every time skills is not in CD, some classes could even become better in those roles with a few weapon tweaks.

Atm if u notice one class can deal with 3 others due the existence of most weapons are cleaves it will damage the 3 targets in withing the same damage ( offcourse some classes have more then others while others barelly have cleaves to have more aoe) this is already the one of the issues, that is what PVE design is conflicting with the pvp part of the game and its not helpign the gameplay at all.
If u had less cleaves and less but stronger aoe spells players would had to quit the train or even if the train exist would be completelly diferent and would require more target analysis, know what u need to atack, instead smash buttons to spam all aoe here.

It would be worse overall for the game, since players dont change.
IMO what is needed are changes that creates better players and less players used to be carried by the pve mechanics (wich is why other gamemodes are sufering or look/feel imbalanced).

(EDIT) those 5 elementalist could not do a thing since the enemy zerg would have like alot of aoe classes and tons of skills that cleave, if they split, they would get cought asap witough problem, if they stack, would had the same result.

I know but to increase aoe cap on “true aoe skills” u need to reduce on other skills, has i have been saying, the game has to many aoe and cleaves, would take out most of the cleaves of the game, maybe that way they would make some space for more classes being trully aoe, larger meteor storm, blizards skills like that would be interesting.
still 20 would be to much, but 10-12(with trait).

Much easier make optimal build when you use exotics. I don’t have motivation change my ascended gear when anet change things.

Very true, the warrior atm im migrating from guardian, will use exotics :}

That virtue pf resolve would heal as much as DH f2 but would remove the option we have to be interrupted :P

One thing that i wish for is retrebutive armor wich i think nobody uses to be merged with pure of heart and retrebutive armor becomes similiar to force of will but giving other atributes intead of vitality and healign output.

Imagine how awesome PVP would be in this game if you needed a high skill level to do it!

I think that deppends Obtena, making game more dificult might mean that players need to play better while in team and spam less, wich is what lacks in gw2, i guess Anet forgot to import clever gameplay skill usage from gw1.

The issue of gw2 pvp is that gw2 classes were designed for pve only, and those classes work how they work due how “horrible” the pve is… all that matters is damage and how dev feel the class should perform in PVE, even if it means broken skills to carry its players on pve due damage output and that leads for some skills ending overperforming and others underperforming in the pvp component.

PVE classes were designed to hit several targets at the same time, since we dont have the mob pods that needed to get cautiouly lured or evaded, all that maters is the pve class spam 1 and that will lead to atack several targets, players dont even need to know wich target needs to be killed first, gw1 had this, so this led to a gameplay of damage “spam splash” and horrible to watch/observer since one guy can atack 3 other with cleave by doing the same damage on the 3 targets, and aoe burst combos, fields, wathever.

Now add all those AOE and some are even on low CD, other do very high damage(due pve needs and how dev’s feel the class must be played).

I think making the game more pleasent to play would be a better, that would create more players that actually need to call targets, know wich target need to be atacked first, since they no longuer could atack 3-5 targets at once..

IF the cleave/aoe skills were reduced, and some classes could actually have aoe spells that could even target arround 10 targets or have its own aoe role??
Q: would that make more weapons and builds viable for pvp?
Q: Would WVW lag be reduced as well?
Q: Would that create better players since game has less aoe/cleave spam and need more teamplay?
Q: Would that make pvp better?
Q: Would that open for a better iteration when working skills for next classes or even tweaking some skills that are underperforming or overperforming?

fog of war can only see in an area of 2000 around you
lawl :P

We kinda had that already. It was called Culling.

Those were the momments with less culling, sometimes fog of war was something like 300-400, first i see your HP go down then u could notice the enemy blob..

Culling + mesmer portal easy win!

Indeed, that is usually what happens to me as well, when usign Writ of persistance with AH, still wonder if Anet made base value heal less, and boost again the healing quoficient, for those that actually use part of the stats with healing be slightly more eficient in some skills, due nature of we need to reach close combat and use active blocks to increase the healing stat.
If i run with force of will its the 820+150ish, i always end in a huge dilema :\.
Usually my force of will shows arround 23-24%.

I’ll admit I wrote my previous post in regards to Raiding, but the concepts can still be applied to other areas.

for my exp, its more or less, with that vitality as u know would be a suicide outside pve, stil in some mobs u can tank naked -.- all that matters is damage…

And not running traps :\ even as a bunker im forced to play traps due easy damage and the trap healing when trigered, if target see im runing shouts they will just AA knowing it will damage alot even on defensive stats, i still need to invest alot in vitality some in toughness and healing power, and power itself.

I still take alot of 5-6k+ damage hits… i think mace shield could be beter we sacrifice alot for poor mans role…

(edit) was trying to make a few screenshots with mace heal values but figthing fa and yaks its so laggy that i cant even move… i had arround 600-800 healing power(invigorated bulwarkwas in effect).

ping going from 140ish to 4k when need to fight Ç_Ç.

noticed alot of skills clicking while noot doing anything on that hammer shout build u were being a bit carried there :P
The rest is a normal DH gameplay, traps are even efective with nomads stats lol….those enemies were not that special, those groups barelly had any CC…

Baldrick.8967 he did got reckt at the end :P

if u dont get cought its legal, :} alot of of players use it, still if u get cough and reported wont happen nothing to u.

I used to punish with ratalition on macro users (those dd eles macroers) still Anet reduced the low rataliation value to a very low damage…. and now i cant counter them GG.

Well, siege could be movable very very slowwwwly, still would help moving siege from top of wall when getting aoe or repositioned to better spot, but can u guys imagine how much of siege would be trolled by spies and put outside of gates to be aoed by his/her teammates form the other server???

Because in gw1, balancing all those skills was a kittening nightmare for Anet. And even then, there were only a handful of top tier optimal builds.

yes, still that doesnt mean they are doing a good job in gw2 either, the optimized builds for wathever the gamemode have a huge performance gap agasint other builds, every one tend to runs the same traits or almost the same utilites, for some reason.
