The Guardian profession is balanced.
No other profession can do as little as 1,000,000 damage using Paladin’s Amulet.
How many players did not avoid traps, even when taking damage inside traps they were expecting to spam keys and still get the DH down? :P
Gw2 pvp problem, people are missing that DH trapper is good against squishy key spammers, wich is almost every build and players, they relly to much on damage output and dont care to outplay DH only to spamm skills face to face, well happens that is actually where DH is good at….
it is mostly l2p issues, not that players have much stats to choose from, but some sturdy builds with removed stats would dance inside traps……

Oldirtbeard.9834, no and if u fully invest in healing power u will killed easilly by some mobs to.
There are better classes for damage and face tank, guardian has mostly support skills not self sustain skills.
Base health should be 15k since we cant reset combats, we dont run aways like GS warriors… dont have water fields, lacks of mobility outside meditations etc.
I still think we need more a little bit health.. to sustain our support. :P , wich would help out healing power scale with the +300 vit skill by a good ammount.

No more shout cooldown reducing please. It has been done time and again, but hasn’t increased their popularity a lot. As for spirit weapons, I am not keen on giving more power to AI skills.
Shouts need longer boons, or be stronger to be more atractive it would not be game breaking, (scrappers can achieve close to 1m boons on 20sec CD…)as in effect, about SW, all they need is a fix to the A.I so bow and shield dont try to run after targets has if was a melee weapon, probably make SW moving faster would be nice to.
im getting even those shovels and sand from the pve map “i dont recall the name” while playing other game mode, i feel Anet is kinda lost in the rewarding system, rewards feel a bit of a mess overhall.
Silverwastes and you need those shovels to build up a guild hall – so people asked for them being obtainable in wvw as well. And that does make sense.
Maybe your main problem is poor inventory management.
That might be, poor inventory managent, and i dint know GH’s needed that shovels lol…
Still imo we should have 1 or 2 track only related to GH needed stuff, other related to WvW stuff, instead of having this spam, some sorta of better track/reward organization.

Seriously, gw2 isnt that good even on the guild system they made a system where guild are just rooms where players farm for WvW awfull gimmicks, when u design a game to carry alot of it is players with gimicks, not much good is to be expected.
GH are even to large, they could make more and smaller and better Gh’s and in the pve map? i just loled hard when i saw that…. so much fail concept, but whatever it is gw2 im used to that.

I would not mind traps to enter in CD after being triggered but game is so overall spammy that DH/guard needs traps like this to be in pair with other classes spam capabilities.
Overall it is the skill design that makes classes a bit messy to play with, to much aoe/cleaves, it is even not good/pleasent to watch in on twitch/youtube videos…
DH/Guard is good a holding points, and DH with guardian active defenses (via active blocks) can be a hell in the power creep trap burst.
But that is not traps beign OP it is the balance stats and u guys from other classes dont have much to choose from being squishy vs dh or being squishy against other classes.
Dont complain only abotu traps every class has its own gimmick mechanic.

Things that need nerfing:
- elite specs in general
- amount of cc
- burst power/condition dmg
- boons
- invul/evade/block frames
- all AoEs
- traps (all kinds) have to go on cooldown on activation, not skill use, re-using trap skill re-positions the trap.
^ this it true alot of thing need some reduction but alot of players need those things to be good, besides gw2 is a game designed to make awfull bad players good if they follow certain gimmick, Anet designed the game for everyone has a change to be good to an extent or pretend to be good, that pvp title w/o drop divisions lol…. only a care bear game does that to cater all skrits… it has no skill value.
The unbalance is really easy to fix the issue is the balance team, that is damaging the game due an ideal thinking that this actual gw2 playtyle are actually smart thinking, it is not.
IF gw2 skills become more similiar to gw1 skill game would be in much better state even for pve.. more team work, more atention, etc.
At this point we are all pretty much aware you don’t know what you’re talking about, but just in case anyone is innocent enough to take you seriously, i just wanted to clarify that weapon blocks and shield of courage do not avoid aegis removal, essentially wasting the boon. So you don’t use mace 3 or f3 when you already have aegis. It’s been a complaint of guards for a while now.
I think that is fine as it is, we need to time well the active defenses.
Also… OP believes aegis is a passive thing….. no comments
The only 2 passive Aegis one is at 40second icd and the other when out health drops arround to 25% with a icd of 30secons.

I am kind of hesitant on buffing spirit weapons haphazardly though. On one hand I would really like to use them more, on the other hand I don’t want them to be on necro minion level of strength. I really wish they functioned similar to conjures or mantras.
The issue with SW is mostly the A.I, bow and shield migh share the same AI sript than hammer and sword for shure but since they dont atack, they will just get out of player side and run to the midle of a combat w/o doing nothign besides dying to the aoe spam (SW tend to run to the midle of aoe…..).
They arent responsive enaught, and die to easy, due game be aoe spam based even on 5 vs 5 they are unrealiable due the aoe+condis and cleaves being spammed.
Lots of skills in game dont work that greeat due game is designed to be super friendly to aoe classes, that something that wvw has sadly inherited from pve design.
I just lold, traps might be a bit to much for many of the skrits but a DH w/o that ACTIVES blocks would not stand against anyone.
i dont play DH with traps, but when ic thiefs playwing like they were warriros and rangers shooting inside Spirit weapon Shield of Avenger, not much can be said,
There are stronger classes than DH….

PS~. DH is only good because spvp is power creep burst based, w/o it it is mostly a dead class.
gw2 pvp will only be fine when we have all stats back and balanced skill values across all classes, wich will be never due how awfull the balance team is.
Poor pvp team…it must be a pain to take care of a mod depending of balance crew that is killign the game….

ranger traps are pretty bad, the stacks are not enough and they get cleanse pretty fast. Even as roaming build the only advantage it has is the stealth is you rune for it.

Guardian, but i hate the concept of bow and trap.
I dont like traps….
i had the one to make bifrost from the karka event sold for 90 gold to a guildie and then bough siege with the gold.

Guard can heal arround 800 with mace and 700 with simbols 3k with empower etc, but statwise is not good to play with this values, due aoe+range is the only and best way to leech wins.
Shout guard(the utilities)are still weak :P

(…)I’m stuck in Amber because guards are OP. They just won’t let me win. it’s all their fault I never do well in pvp. Even when there aren’t guards in my match I still blame them for my loss. Why hasn’t Anet nerfed them already?!?!

bigo.9037, it is awfull unskilled compared with gw1 and many other games in terms of personal and team skill, and forced aoe/cleaves spam pve’ish classes with all those flahes that is also horrible to watch.

Alot of players were used to play broken builds, since those stats got removed also hurted some classes that were ok with them.
THe issue is how Anet manages balance in terms of stats effectivness for classes, not traps, if a player gets lured to melee and trap range of a DH expect traps….

Thanks for the responses all. Was frustrated and tired last night and could have articulated my frustrations better.
I’m sick of defaulting to damage roles and looking for a wvw zerg healing build. I’m not coming up with anything that looks and feels right for mass combat, so any direction and build recommendation would be appreciated.
With all the range aoe spam is bit hard, since we need to go on melee to be good at it.
Im runing something arround this since i cant make ascended :P

The linking system is a limited concept, it fixes population but it doesn’t address the problem of the community being separated by abstract server walls.
It barelly fixes population, while they allow that variable to change anytime and bork up the links.
So something needs to be changed on wvw to avoid completelly these situations.
I think Guardian is really fine as a suporter, ic them mostly like a prot monk with minor healing, like the gw1 monks, since we can heal and negate/mitigate damage, also guardian is strong at removing condition from group.
Guardian can have a quite 5k+ aoe heals :\
-Wing of resolve X2 with RF arround 5k-6k per target 2 times.
-The signet the no ones use can heal party to full back. Still 5 man guard party running that signet will heal alot, for a defensive build group, each guard would heal arround 1.2k to 1.4 (max i healled with that was arround 1.8k/9).
-SW bow command can heal arround 4k-5k with all those ticks, 2 or 3 guards heal spike with that, and heal alot of players. (the issue is the bow AI that thinks it is a melee weapon)
-Mace heal goes arround 400-650 every 3rd chain AA.
-Santuary scales with the number of players inside.
-blocks can heal arround 1200 party members(while removeing condis or/and damage target), and we have a good number of blocks.
-dodges go arround 1k+
-Empower heals 2k+
All i can say is that guardian is really decent at this, but i would not mind a buff on shouts heal or boon duration >:}, and a buff on force of will healling effectivness to 1.4 or 1.6 >:} competing with the shouts for 2 strong support options.
I think this would reduce the number of trappers and people would try something else to. :P, and we migh also see more than trappers at pvp.

On WvW they are easy to defeat, it works that way on pvp cause they are good at power creep burst situations wich pvp is all about, just when people mindlessy fall in their traps or get lured like a mob.

Something needs to be done, different rewards traks, a different way to reward players, reweard tracking system is to easy to get bags full of chest, i would prefer something harder to get but that players need, how about helping crafting skills hummm?
I only use gold to buy siege and anti-condi food, so most of the stuff is gona be merched i even sell ascended to merchs if i dont feel bothered to salvage.

They cant fix it, their servers are cheap and at their limits.
The game coding is bad and not optimised.
The game is just hanging on, it’s pretty much dead really, and not many people will buy gems for a game they know isnt worth it, as HoT proved.
Dont think it is the code, they said they have been improving but also game lost alot of WvW players.
They need to reduce the ticks, aoespam, cleaves, less calculations server side. make better aoe skills to compensate, if game would be more single targets than gather all aoe and spam we would not be talking about this :\
GW2 needs to be less of spam and a less flashy game it is to much brainless at a certain point and that might be making gamming to laggy(it is easy to get super lagged when 2 groups spamm all the aoe and condi ticks), and when u cant move due the low fps + skill lag… the red carpet cant be avoided.

I dont really mind the chests but when u get a bag out of a bag out of a chest which is in a chest, then yes it gets annoying. Unneeded imo.
^That’s my problem with it. I really wouldn’t mind having a reward track that just gave gold or sup siege though.
That actually would be interesting IMO, even if track is super slow, get random siege and random mats that are needed to upgrade, with a supply crate at the end.
The thing is i dont care about loot 90% of the time, i dont care about gathering mats since i dont like how crafting works on this game.
We should have a option to stop tracking the chest rewards imo, or another one we could have some sorta different reward??
I guess ill spend the next days salvaging mats and selling to the npc’s, ToT.
As topic says, im tired of being encumbered with this “afk reward” design.
IT is anoying to clear bags + tons of chest, ive lost the count on how many chest are in queue~, when I change map i get encumbered, i log on i get encumbered, i fight for awhile i get encumbered.
Im not a skrit >:} …. Please improve WvW instead of offering freebies.

Just end with it, create 3 factions that want control over Mists energy/resources, add several maps.. no more loosing time with glicko/links, population changes that will bork up link etc.
It is 4 years of most broken matchups and karma train smaller maps or being karmaed…
Unfortunately this doesn’t compare to zerker guard DPS. Really wish they would buff burn guard.

If we want to make a bit support with mace symbol when we cast targets are no longer there and our ally is figthing in other place, people also tend to pull enemies out of guardian simbols (bad rangers im looking at you -.-" ), and the heal does not help allies either.
Can mace simbol be casted faster and get a increase on its initial healing allies???? it is so sloooooow….
Still, symbols ovehall are quite decent on the class it was a very good improvement, atm we only lack similiar rework for signets… and spirit weapons…. spirit weapons if they worked would be so coool ANET… really coool!

No it wouldn’t. It would simply be down to whatever has the best survivability-to-damage ratio. What’s worse is that since there are no points there are no rotations which means you can not use mobility and whatnot to fudge viability.
TDM is a terrible gamemode.
It was great on GW1 , it required muchmore skill/team work than gw2 needs.

In big team fight when another players has is defensive skills on CD, any class can auto-atack pretty hard for a win, not only DH….with traps..
You make a good point, but a DH can be on a marauder amulet and standing in the middle of the action while doing that. So many of their big attacks also heal them. I honestly didn’t even realize the skills were healing me for several games until I read the tool tips and was like “oh no wonder I can’t die.” (Except if you played with me last night, sorry I was drunk.)
The skill healing you, theres nothing wron on it, purification,u can also have heals on blocks, even we have a change to burn and do damage on block, that is pretty cool, even remove condi on block.
The issue is the #to much mindless and effective aoe# and spam of those skills, gw2 is a skilless game, theres alot of short CD aoe skills, traps inclueded, but not only the traps it is the overall classes that work like this, they designed a aoeish pve, and those classes are being directly put to fight in pvp, this is more than obvious that results on a awfull pvp game, all player need to play is best aoe busrter witch atm is DH due how pvp now is heavy on power creep.
The real issuel in pvp is the skill system and stats unbalance not DH traps alone, they are avoidable but migh be to much on how the game is being played with the sum of all AOE burst and condi busrts from some classes.
I would apreciate if Anet thinks on PVP first then adapt to PVE, that will result on a much better experience for players, and less complains for the company, starting reducing skills number of targets would be a good change, people need to know wich target to atack and not just drop skill because know it will hit several ones
Skills need a little more character animations (DH traps) less eye blind flashes, less aoe, and make aoe on some classes CD a bit longer or different effects (more clever fights).
Overall means less shinny stuff and more visual compenent than look at lights.

Linking is a half measure which won’t work.Anyway besides polls what has really changed? They didn’t even change the scoring system and they know it’s meaningless since 2013.
Pretty much this, i would love to see a continnent with several smaller maps that can be controlled by guilds ToT.
Communities dotn get loss that way, people can get organized, server X and Y gets more focus on A and B map, more peopel to call to some map where lacks players, etc…
They could have quest/missons with rewards for havoks and smaller guilds to disrupt enemy maps etc.
Instead of this chest spam for being afk… in a empty map.

I cant believe people still rush mindlessy to traps, ignoring the animation and the annoying “pewsh” sound.
That’s why I had zero respect for DHs before I tried playing one. Then I realized it’s actually pretty easy to put a trap down in a big team fight or when someone has blown their defenses/dodges. It really takes very little effort when most skills on both weapon swaps as well as your utilities are a big attack and also has built in defense.
In big team fight when another players has is defensive skills on CD, any class can auto-atack pretty hard for a win, not only DH….with traps..
I keep saying as a DH/Guardian traps was the most weak solution to have it, to brainless to play it, yet a bit dangerous if u cath a decent player, for several reasons, people dont learn, and game not evolving in a decent way, not giving much space for other to tune up their builds.
But the issue that many players dont see is that GW2 is a skilless game overhall(i guess it was designed to be like that), and people blame classes, theres alot of mindless aoe\cleave spam, players know they only need to use certain skill order to win under certain circumstances, and DH trapper is really good at that cause its very effective in this power creep game since some classes are a bit forced to play squishy builds(DH love squishies), the pvp team tried to balance by removing what was a bit gamebreaking on other classes and that also damaged classes that werent op under those stats.
A DH cant do nothing a sturdy build… and alot of classes can be much more sturdier/surviability than a guardian/DH under some stats, wards would be much more rewarding and less damaging for pvp than the trap gimmick.
For some reason Gw2 is know to be a joke of a game when we talk about pvp, as much the pvp team works to make a pleasent game, others dont seem to undeerstand what is important to gammers today, besides gw2 is unpleasent to se in a video pvping, its a bit brainless, many players are just used to being carried by stats under some classes.

Theres is 2004 game where the devs really made pvp fun and more player skill driven than aoe spam game made by Anet.

The isssue is not the DH traps…
There are 2 reasons why some players on some classes are being instagibed by traps, one is the pvp balance that forced pvp team to remove trinkets that were ok in some classes due being to strong on others, the other is that many people were used to face smash oponoents with gimmick build (being carried for to long with their builds with those stats that were to much on that class).
Now theres something that counters squishy builds or makes them to change the way how they spam skills, every one panics, still linked to initial problem, those players cant adapt much due dependace on stats that were removed, and cant improve their build due stats that got removed, so a few classes dont have much options to choose from being squishy, wich is meat bags for DH (class works very well in power creep situation only).
DH has awfull sustain if u know how to counter it, and theres only one trap that does good/very good damage, and if the DH not using stability f2,f3, are easilly disrupted,
PS: Also the only skill guardian received for sustain was a block on mace.

berzerker can be anoying to, cant outdamage their healing and the pack a ton of damage… i guess it is the price for mace on guard lol….
Yeah save the ascended mats for something that u feel u really need it.
Imo healing power stats, makes sense use mace as primary, u could help your MM friend with fire damage on guardian and SW it is fun to play them on pve.
Maybe something arround this, get cheap armor if u want to try someting arround this.
