IMHO Air Cooldown reduction is only worth it for D/D, but then very much so (32s updraft and RTL and 20s static aura is awesome).

The problem with stacking 5 eles was the aoe heals and condi clearing, NOT RTL. They nerfed the wrong thing.

RTL was nerfed because it was allowing Eles to effortlessly travel from point to point too quickly in sPvP.

So it’s OK when warriors, thieves, rangers and engineers do it, but when eles can do it it needs severe nerfs? That’s a double standard if there ever was one.

The old RTL allowed super mobile bunkers to exist. You could argue that a BM bunker ranger has even higher mobilty than the pre nerf ele but they brought nowhere near the same amount of team utility/support.

Damage builds were nerfed WAY more by the RTL nerf than bunker builds. Every single nerf since launch that was “targeted” at bunker builds hurt damage builds way more than bunkers.

Which is a problem with thieves, not a problem with ele’s.

Warriors, Mesmers, Rangers, etc. can get away from thieves, but an Ele needs to fight or die. That’s the problem.

But if only 3 of those classes can actually catch up to you over time (if you dont use FGS), that is a lot different than having to “stop and engage every single enemy”, which is the OP’s complaint.

Seeing as 99% of the roamers in WvW seem to be thieves it is a VERY valid complaint.

I didn’t say we were the most mobile class.

You are sitting here crying about how you cant get away from anyone, but the truth is RTL+Flash can get away from a lot of people, and FGS can get away from the few that it doesnt. If you create a little space before you cast it, its a lot less trouble. But if you cant be bothered CC’ing your enemies, waiting for immobolize to end before you RTL, or unslotting an elemental thats pretty terrible in wvw for an escape skill, and dont even try to get good swiftness uptime, you really deserve to constantly get caught and killed. People like that aren’t just bad, they’re too stubborn to improve. And thats cool, enjoy the respawn walk.

They didn’t say they were going to nerf fgs, they said they were keeping an eye on ele mobility and they liked that FGS was a good trade off (long cooldown for good mobiltiy, takes an elite slot). The forum took two unrelated comments, made a conspiracy and repeated it until it was “fact.”

I don’t know about your tier of play, but in my tier, I get chased across the entire map. People do not give up. Ever. I cannot count the number of times I have been chased from bay to hills and up north. I can’t because it happens all the time because people know that they will catch you after using the RTL +LF combo. They will. They have 40 seconds to catch up using their gap closers. The only time they will give up is if I blow my elite. Then they go away.

A single RTL + LF is not enough to get away from them even if I chill them as after that combo, I have no other ways except swiftness to move about since the cooldowns are so long and the cooldowns of my chasers are much MUCH shorter. I HAVE to blow my elite to get away and pray that I get out of combat so I can hover with the waypoint window on in case it looks like I can’t.

This. By the time your RTL and LF are ready again people have long since catched you because they can use their various gap closers 3-4 times while yours are on cooldown.

Fresh air already has an internal cooldown.

It’s supposed to, but appears to be bugged so that it doesn’t.

I’m not sure if it is exactly 5 seconds but there is a cooldown on fresh air. Try this (starting in air attunement):

Switch to fire, attack until crit procs fresh air, switch to air, immediately switch to another attunement, use arcane blast or wave for the auto-crit, and fresh air won’t proc.

IMHO the problem is simply people thinking the internal cooldown starts when you switch out of air, when instead it simply starts the last time fresh air procced.

yeah, something to consider.. i notice the minor traits in master tier cause at-location blasts for fire and earth.. air is highly inconvenient outside of pvp as it causes an at-target or a find-target lightning strike.. really, annoying when you attune to air and enter combat mode from some nearby ambient creature z_z
i think in the fire trait line they might want to switch adept minor with master minor.. as elems not heavily using the fire trait line would want the at-location blast and the players sinking traits into burning would have <flame barrier> accessible to them as they climb the fire trait line

I can see this suggestions premise but I think the point of all the adept minors is synergy with lingering elements. I believe all of them work except earth (which would be great if it did). If they did that for fire they would probably have to do it for all of them. Then if they did switch them those adepts would not be good master minors at all.

Only the minor water trait works with lingering elements. Which is a kitten dirty shame.

I think they changed the air attunement proc some timeago not not fire anymore if you’re not in combat.

Badly structured argument by OP.

It’s almost laughable that an ele would complain about a warrior he can’t catch.

I mean if my enemy would run away I’d say cheers for me since I sent him away and couldn’t manage to fight toe-to-toe with me.

RTL pre nerf made elementalist kings of mobility the devs have stated that they wanted thieves to be kings of mobility.

They disappear while doing gestures and when dancing as well which is a little annoying. Haven’t had to unequip and re-equip thought. That sounds terrible.

The first thing conjured weapons need to become viable would be to be able to switch in and out of them while active, and/or for them to only replace their respective attunement instead of all 20 weapon skills.

Yea I agree I haven’t played my warrior alot lately I did redo my build with the new patch. Messed around with it a bit. Warrior is fun damages until you realize you spend alot of time using your whirlwind, rush, savage leap, and bull rush defensively to get out of fights than you do to actually do any damage with them.

Warrior is fun in WvW if you build it for roaming you can do reasonably well. I feel like ele is still better at roaming. Classes capable of roaming successfully are the classes I lean toward. I don’t really spec super damage or all glass on my warrior 2.9k toughness while still having over 2k power, 2.3k power if I run signet of might.

I did at one point have a setup pre patch with 2.4k power, 3k armor, 55% chance to crit w/76 crit damage.

Warrior was better at roaming than ele even before all the RTL nerfs…

Armor of Earth trait + Aura Protection trait should really be 1 trait. AOE proc has 90 seconds cd and protection on auras isn’t that useful because with the stun aura you don’t even get hurt much anyway.

Either every class needs to be built around their description, meaning warriors are OK to have mobility, and eles need to do MASSIVE damage with each and every single attack, or class descriptions are just flavor and the game should be balanced around gameplay instead of flavor. Which then means that warrior mobility is too high and needs to be brought down.

Blind VS Aegis - "Apparent" Balance

Aegis is still better than Blind because you can’t condition-cleanse aegis. Every class has condition cleanses but only 1 or 2 have the ability to remove boons from other classes and even then most builds don’t use that.

Im playing an ele with cleansing fire and ether renewal, plus dagger #5 and i can hardly keep less than 2 conditions on me when facing a skilled necro or engi. I feel bad for the other class with less removal.

Necro/engi duo is pretty strong atm.

This. When the best class at condition cleaning has sever problems against necromancers, I can’t even imagine what it must feel like to fight as a warrior against them. Necro conditions (especially perma-fear) is WAY to high since the patch and needs to be brought down ASAP.

In PvP and WvW a warrior pretty much was (and to some extent still is) go in do damage run out wait for CD’s to come up. They have no sustain. If you want a class to go in do alot of damage on 1 target and run out a thief is way better at it while being able to go right back in. A warrior has to wait for long cds to come up after a warrior heals 1 time they are pretty much no use until it’s back up again.

Ele CDs are WAY longer than warriors’ and they do less damage. So either eles need cd reductions and damage buffs across the board or warriors need their mobility nerfed into the ground. Everything else would be hypocrisy.

Rangers at least get their bug threads answered the same day a patch comes out that bugs things. Eles are still waiting for dev answers to bugs that are in the game since launch…

D/D Builds??? (Sky Pirates Patch)

I really tried a lot of different builds since the patch, mostly trying to use 20-30 points in earth for rock solid and written in stone, but signets are simply still too weak (besides air) without giving fire auras which is too high up the fire tree. Glyphs of course are still just as bad as before. I had modest success with a 0/10/30/0/30 build with resto signet and 3 arcane spells but overall the most success I’ve still had with… go figure… a 3 cantrip build…

Whatever build I try I simply can’t live long without 20% reduced air cooldown. Without that RTL is simply unplayable even when it hits.

Arenanet needs to improve or redesign 90% of all classes’ elite skills. They are either too weak, have too long a cooldown, or both. The only classes with all around good elites are Thieves and Mesmers (go figure).

I hate mesmers with a vengeance, but thieves usually go down fast to the combo of Air 3 → Air 1×2 → Updraft → Fire 3 → Fire 5 and if they still live after that, Earth 4 and another attack.
