Seriously, older games than this have better ways to find groups for dungeons other than spamming world chat, and they’re cross server too.
Why do you need to know ahead of time?
Why not? Let’s say that certain dungeons will receive buffs or nerf dungeon rewards across the board. Wouldn’t you want to do as many dungeons as you possibly can ahead of time before the nerf bat hits? Or, what if Plinx mobs no longer dropped any loot, if you had that information you could make an informed decision to get in your DE fix before getting blindsided by nerfs. On the other hand such an announcement would flood the quest chain before the nerf, but still, having knowledge ahead of time in order to make informed decisions matters.
Ppl going WoW again?
Don’t need to play, who cares about the world lol just let me run to my next objective, I only want to do chores, not actually play a game rite?
Stopping to fight can be fun sometimes, but the problem is sometimes we really have to be somewhere. Also, some mobs have fear, which for a few seconds makes you run against your will in another direction, a direction that may have other mobs that you had no intention of aggroing. Mobs themselves also run too sometimes, and if they go far enough can also aggro more mobs. Seeing a purple light at the end of a shovel and dodging accordingly and then proceeding to unleash on them knowing their knockbacks are on CD is fun, mining and having an army spawn on top of you or being insta slowed from behind at range isn’t.
Stealthing and relogging just to get out of combat if we know we wouldn’t stand a chance is not fun.
Zombies, people, and all sorts of beasts you did absolutely nothing to all come out of the woodwork just to attack you, but they can’t help it, that’s how they’re programmed -_-
(edited by Agemnon.4608)
Key drop rates seem like they keep being reduced. During headstart, I was actually looting more keys than chests from random mob drops.
A few days after headstart, I would get a key maybe once or twice a week. Lately, I have seen zero keys drop in the past month.
Across the board, Anet continues to decrease drops, loot and drop rates for no reason whatsoever. I predict in a few months you’ll have to grind a good 3 hours just to get one white. Dye drops will become non-existent and unidentified dye should skyrocket to 1g per.
Lol celestial is already above 4g, so it’s sort of true now unfortunately.
People are talking like that the other mats to make a legendary is so easy to get. You still need 120 gold and about 1 million karma, plus everything else and maybe even lodestones which is equally expensive of a precursor. Even if arenanet decided to give precursors like candy to people, grinding for all the rest takes a long kitten time.
I’m very happy that they decided to address the precursors, even if they decide to add an absurd recipe to make them, it is still better than playing lottery on the forge.
Right on! I just need to do some dungeons (have 220 tokens), and today I was lucky enough to find people willing to do TA exp path 2. The dungeon hill feels like the toughest one to climb since you never know what group you may get. It’s been great so far, but I’ve heard some stories, and sometimes fear losing a connection and resetting the dungeon =( Also, with tunnel vision and the wacky camera it’s sometimes hard to see downed players, then my, “Oh no! I’ll look like a jerk if I don’t rez this guy!” instinct kicks in.
While I’m not particularly a fan of the mechanic I can understand why it’s there. Basically, if it were unlimited then everyone would be running condition tanky builds and infinitely kite in dungeons. Tanky condition builds are still viable, but due to the limit just aren’t optimal to have more than one. Dungeons should basically have four kinds of players: Tanky sustained damage, tanky condition, tanky support, and good sustained damage with some survivability. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find good gear with power/toughness/vitality on it apart from legendaries, and while precision is great should be the first stat in line to be sacrificed for dungeon viability due to high mob health and damage. Some precision is still good if you’re in the good sustained damage with some survivability category though as long as you have enough vitality and toughness to get through.
“Gw2 is a game that have a balance for PVP fight, so pve fight must be similar to pvp match to be enjoyable or follow at least the same rules… Monster immune to controls are incredibly annoyng bacause a part of the non trinity concept is: there is no tank because all classes can control! Reflect about it ^^”
Not necessarily. PvE and PvP must be different because if they were the same then burst specs would be either OP or useless compared to sustained damage + tanky specs. Players have much smaller health pools and damage capabilities compared to even some silver mobs, and this creates a much different dynamic. Not to mention that AI doesn’t have quite the same capabilities as true intelligence and free will. That giant tree may be a god of some sort according to the lore, but in actuality lacks free will and tactical awareness, as he was ultimately created and programmed by humans, whereas humans were “programmed” and created by nature over millions of years.
The real question should be, why did they increase movement speed out of combat? So people can travel faster? Who needs that?
No, that’s the wrong question because with a slower running speed (and in combat is too slow) it takes longer to reach places, and the game has enough artificial longevity as it is. I say do away with in combat speed entirely, especially ranged mobs can get you in combat and slow you down effortlessly just by shooting you with something. This, combined with the poor camera (can’t see too far behind the character unless you autorun and pan the camera behind you like I oftentimes do) make this annoying.
CoE gear with Invader’s Coat (WvW). One of my favourite combinations. Midnight Fire + Sand dyes.
Nice combo, and it’s adorable ^_^
While it’s a male character the female version of this particular set is hot:
Celestial with white gold (I tried it with illumination first and, as I suspected, was many shades too much to pair with celestial) is the color scheme. And for those who pay attention to detail you’ll notice a dungeon build. Yes, I know I have way too much precision, but I simply couldn’t find power/vit/toughness gear =(
Anyway, with a very obvious priest color coding this suggests I’d be dedicated a lot to support, but I don’t have the appropriate gear and jewelry to do that quite yet, but when I do I’d do it on my ele so not to give anyone any ideas I might not run with this color combo too often.
The second picture is primary midnight ice with abyss straps I know I’m not why I know it’s obvious the actual reason for the picture is to get someone else’s dawn from different angles but I’m still nevertheless in the shot ^_^
The third you can’t see me, but was a dungeon composition. People say, “Rangers, thieves, and necros are so weak for dungeons!” I say, “Why? Rangers have pets… with knockbacks and the best range in the game maybe apart from certain eles while necros have lifesteal, wells, and minions! Hello!” However, we did have a couple of engineers, and they simply have awesome utility. Notice how this is the forward/forward path of Twilight Arbor explorable. In before someone says, “Lol you didn’t switch out dagger storm for basilisk venom on that part!” Yes, I know -_-
(edited by Agemnon.4608)
Precursors will still be needed to make a legendary right? I already have three of the components, I just need to run some dungeons and I’ll be set.
I agree. When we were trying to pull knights one at a time in TA forward-forward someone quit on us, couldn’t really blame him since it was a really tough quest. This was a guardian by the way. Then I managed to complete it with another group, no exploiting, just ran past some trash if we could and managed to get the knights one at a time. If scorpion wire just got rid of its redbar then you’re at the right distance.
I just need to grind Twilight Arbor explorable “a few” times and I’ll be set for the legendary. While I agree the RNG system is a bit much I hope the gifts we’ve made and the precursor still count towards making one.
It could be a third party program. Because of QQ against thieves they could have made a program to counter thieves. As for the PvE issues I’ve noticed them too =(
Stealth stomps/resses is just a game mechanic and this a l2p issue, while ressing the thief is still there, hit the point.
If this is removed so should be Endure pain stomps, Mist stomps, Invul signet stomps.
This, all of it. Also, we got Temple of Balthazaar on my server and while it wouldn’t be cool to say if I weren’t there the attempt would fail I did nevertheless shadow refuge NPCs on the way up to maintain morale, smokescreen the acolytes (blinds them and keeps their floating hands away), and switch out dagger storm for basilisk venom for the priest part, where I shadow refuged downed players. Also, I’m specced so that stealth removes a condition, first immediately and others every three seconds. In that event even tanky characters drop pretty fast so shadow refuging people so I can rez people uninterrupted matters a lot. If you take away rezzing from stealth then you effectively rob the thief of a lot of utility.
While the priest is immune to being turned to stone ( I know =( ) the abomination and veterans can be hit with it. Dagger storm is great for waves of non-tanky mobs, but for a few spread out vets you need something else.
That’s how it is in this game. To stand a chance in Orr for loot you need to group. It’d be nice if they expanded group size to about 40 or so, that way everyone gets credit for all loot.
“For great justice!” Is a shout out to Anonymous, perhaps as an acknowledgement that they endorsed the game.
The best… theme… ever! :D
No. It does not punish “real players” it punish farmers.
And ArenaNet simply don’t want people to spend all their time farming the same event/mob/area over and over and over and over and over again. They have a DR system in GW1 and have had that for several years. It is not going away anytime soon.
Legendary requirements say otherwise. If ArenaNet didn’t want farmers, who are real players btw, then they shouldn’t have made the legendary requirements consist of tons of farming. Heck all the crafting professions require farming to level. I had to farm t1 and t2 mats to level my hunstman. Jewelcrafting I had to farm gold.
If a real player want’s to farm then let him. That’s the way an economy works and ArenaNet is capping that due to DR. That DR actually hurts casual players because that means less supply, thus higher prices.
For huntsman yes it does require tons of gathering, though I see jewelcrafting EXP getting nerfed into the ground soon. Then again, I had a ton of mats left over and didn’t need to spend anything. And high end jewelcrafting seems profitable so far… with mat farming of course.
Agreed, DR needs to go.
yeah, this game is turning into thieves v. eles with a small smattering of mesmers so you can deal with thieves :-/
every other class is pretty much inferior
Not warriors and guardians if specced correctly. Warriors should never be glass cannons (not that it’s possible with that armor rating and base HP, but I mean warrior with full berzerker gear and 30 points in their precision and power trees) but in PvP go toughness and crit.
True RPGs are dead. When I first played WoW it was nothing like the previous MMO (a real MMORPG that lived up to the name, complete with battlescreens… but was hardcore pay to be a pro -_- ) WoW and similar are more like action games with RPG elements such as levels and MP tacked on.
Rezzing people when they’re downed, having some vitality and toughness instead of going all the way with it, being a thief, taking out a vet acolyte but see cracks under me and suddenly die randomly to a fireball (20 in acrobatics and 10 in shadow arts with some knight gear… really? Hate to imagine what true glass cannons feel), trying to use blinding powder under the silly assumption that it will work, etc.
In before the close, like seriously.
Ahh yes the typical, Oh No I can’t think of a good rebuttal so I will just randomly make claims of censorship so I don’t have to think too hard, reply…
Cheaper mats meant people of all play styles could afford to play the game and have fun. I have yet to meet anyone who thought farming mats was an effective way of making money in this game. Even using the best farming locations for the highest price mat (T6 blood) you will only get 4-5 bloods an hour, netting you a total of 1g using the now inflated prices. This is less then you get just spam farming plinx for an hour. But now if you need 250 Bloods for a rare weapon, or crafting, or a legendary it will cost you 50g as opposed to the bot driven price of 6-7g. So that is an increase from 6 hours of farming plinx to 50 hours of farming plinx.
I for one would rather the bot price and time scheme over the non bot.
You were really farming T5 bloods to convert into T6 bloods via the forge. Now, however, it’s far less profitable than it once was, despite T6 also going up.
Learn to adapt. Instead of buying off the TP just gather. You’ll gain so many T5 and even T6 bones and venom sacks just from a natural playthrough of the game.
FYI, kudzu shoots flowers.
and of course they are not the same. Some are not finished I would say. I do agree some legendary deserve better effects to the effort of getting it
The lover looks awesome from what I’ve seen so far (haven’t crafted it yet just need 50 more ectos for the gift of luck and need to go to Balthazaar to complete the gift of mastery… and then start on dungeons! ^_^ )
Rares unfortunately live up to the name a little too well sometimes for me too =( While I’m not in full MF gear I have many MF pieces and 5 pirate runes, and some magic find gems.
Also if you complete the same dungeon path, or other dungeon paths too quickly, you receive less tokens.
Normal first of the day tokens: 60
Doing same path before reset: 20
Doing same path third time : 10
Doing 1 path, then another, and finishing the second path within something like 20 minutes: anywhere from 30-60 tokens
What if only one path is viable =(
This is the only game that I know of that gives me exactly the amount of social interaction I want, with the option for more. The only one.
This is exactly how I feel. I group up with my guild a lot, not because I have to, but because it’s more fun than playing by myself. Sometimes though I like to just wander by myself but most of the time I’m willing to group up. However, at the same time, I’m not as likely to group up with complete strangers just cuz I don’t know if they know how to group properly… stick with the group, communicate. While a good group can really increase my enjoyment of the game, a bad group is just frustrating.
I understand what you’re saying, but what if a couple of strangers turn out to be a couple of warriors that trait deep into their defensive trees and a support guardian?
You could also take topics they lock over to other forums. There are forums outside the official GW2 forums.
Why wouldn’t they want necromancers! Necros have high HP pools, can have an entourage of minions, and… lifesteal! Hello! As for rangers they have pets, many of which I’m sure are optimal for dungeons.
This also reminds me of the time in map chat in Lion’s Arch where someone said, “LFG, level 80 warriors and guardians only!” It was sad.
Warrior: No. Elites aren’t very good, but Utility skills are even worse.
Mesmer: Yes. Time Warp is decent in large groups but the cooldown is too long for it to be any good. Rather have a skill that allows for 1 extra illusion.
Guardian: Yes, no good elites.
Thief: Yes, no good elites.
Elementalist: Fiery Greatsword is nice, too bad it has such a look cooldown. Kinda like Mesmer, it’s not really worth the cooldown.
I found dagger storm to be really useful for Plinx when used at the right time, especially while grouped.
Got locked as I was posting. Best for everyone to go to a fan site where more freedom of speech is allowed as long as you are not trolling.
This, exactly this right here.
Just remember not to blow your initiative and wait until they blow their knockbacks if any before heartseekering (don’t heartseek someone above 50%, and wait until they blow an invulnerability so as to not waste initiative). Remember: heartseeker is a charged attack, it’s a short charge, but it’s still interuptable so don’t play as if it were a non-interruptable ability.
“Level-based equipment makes no sense from a realism perspective”
Titanium is harder than steel, fantasy metal X is harder than diamond… you see where I’m going with this. If gear is supposed to represent your character and not your gear’s strength then you could say level 1-10 is average, 20 a world class athlete, 30 similar to Batman, and up the scale of power until you can face bigger and badder enemies. Besides, if the Superman authors cared about realism we’d be deprived of a great character in the American narrative. You’d also have to say good bye to those giant bugs floating around due to the square cube law.
“3: You must not pug many dungeons, you can die sooo much in those that it’s not even funny. No body would be willing to wear exotic gear in a dungeon. Hell, some jerks run a dungeon naked after a few deaths as is.”
If the price of repairs scaled up with rarity like in other games I’d probably run dungeons in masterwork gear! :D
We also need certain quests that simply don’t move on until a certain specific stat quota is met. Like if a game had intelligence and your character was a mage then he’d say, “I don’t have the proficiency to move this boulder” if he lacked sufficient intelligence (higher intelligence = stronger telekinesis and more potent overall magic) whereas a warrior or thief would say, “I can’t push that!” until his strength quota is met.

But are in PK areas because they have a need to be. Now, why would people be afraid of PK? Because if you lose to a mob zerg, no one knows, since AIs defeat you whereas someone else defeating you exposes you as an inferior player to whoever beat you. Now, when people do lose they blame “class” for it. Of course it’s a factor, and not all classes and builds are optimized for PK, but people need to be more humble and admit that there’s always a lot to learn. Maybe you try being a damage dealer, but your class is optimized for support or tanking?
I remember someone trying to run away from me as I was attacking them on the way to a borderland jumping puzzle, and I defeated them without any real problem. Yes, that was on my thief in his PvP (AKA berzerker) gear against a green arrow.
Another situation on my ele was one vs. three. I was switching attunements, using abilities as the situation demanded, used wind staff 5 cage at the right moment, but still didn’t win, but… that particular group knows that I am not afraid of PK and risk making myself look like a noob worthy of my fellow gamers’ contempt. The next round on it was much better, but I had NPC and some player help.
Are you lost..?
Or maybe just confused.
This is the general section of the forum. pvp section is just below go post pvp things in that.
Having said that i have read your post 3 times now { my brain withering with each attempt} and i still cant see what point you are trying to make.abot 90% of your post it seems is made up of how you killed other people in pvp. ?? congtrats well done i think that maybe thats what your meant to do, im sure those that are interested are impressed.
Most of us are not :p
The point is many of these people want treasure chest and an exploration achievement, but actively seek to avoid PvP despite actually being in a PvP zone. Also, why people could be afraid. After all, no one wants to be the one responsible for their team losing. In WoW everyone just blamed the people who didn’t have upgraded gear (which you need to battleground to earn in the first place).
Two tries on Halloween, failed first, then got precursor ^_^ There were attempts days before then too, but… I didn’t keep track =( I only bought the fine ingredients while crafting the bows themselves. I still craft rares, but now I’m hunting exos, already have the clovers so only 90 ectos, 90,000 karma, 500 dungeon tokens, and 25 icy runestones to go.
Anyone who is afraid of PK in a game where you lose nothing for dying in a PvP bout should probably reconsider ever entering the PvP zones.
Anyone who actually gives 2 craps about whether the person they battle with is afraid of PK in a game where you lose nothing for dying in a PvP bout, and actually attributes merit to that persons personality or character because of it, really needs to stop playing for a moment, take a step back from the game and reevaluate where they are in life.
You lose nothing, but get exposed as an inferior player (at least to whomever you lose to I don’t mean overall inferior). You can especially humiliate someone if you have a grudge and break their equipment and have a temporary shame, but I personally never felt that way towards anyone.
I could give you several reasons for both sides; what upsets one and another. But one thing Is a fact for both:
It’s just a game.
Yes, it is a game, but people seem to be afraid of being exposed as weak as if there were shame in it. Maybe they had a bad lag, are new and have a lot to learn about the classes, have bad gear, or simply need to learn? The game also isn’t balanced around 1v1 and zergs should theoretically give people a comfort, as they lose their individuality and become part of the group, so if you get outplayed, you get outplayed together so all get to share in the defeat, or victory if the opposite is true.
I do my best to keep the guy in the back alive. The problem is, shades don’t telegraph their attack and they hit hard, and if you have the buff that allows you to harm them you can’t rez anyone =(
As for your post… have you noticed diminishing returns and how terrible it is to earn gold in this game unless you gamble for the right things or more reliably sell ( a lot of) mats and collect trash? Ectos are hard to come by, and in Plinx everything dies way too fast whereas Grenth has much better tagging.
But are in PK areas because they have a need to be. Now, why would people be afraid of PK? You were in Lion’s Arch when this happened? I have the same problem, all the time this happened in Lion’s Arch.
Was in Orr =(

I was in Gendarran Fields today and only ran across two other people. One of which had the classy reply after I rezzed them, “Thanks I was testing downed timings” or something. Sorry for not letting you sit there and die like most players do!
I also revisited Shelter’s Gate, which had a clear buff in difficulty, as spiders actually pull you back now and has more vets (gee, wonder why I was just one of the only people there lol!) After teleporting near an NPC (who clearly doesn’t have the sense to rez) and luckily getting myself back up, I head back to Plinx.
Despite the massive zoo there only managed to find one person to group with and much later on another. When asking for a group someone wispered, “Why?” The attitude of players this early makes me not want to rez anyone.
It is only 10 in the morning on a Monday and Orr is already a zoo =( We need a Cursed Shore overflow, badly.

To ItGamer:
Just remember to diversify beyond mithril. Mitrhil is oversaturated as it is and is best for turning it into ecto via crafting rares.
You could try Bloodtide Coast, it’s easily one of my favorite zones in the game. It has Quaggan, Hyleks, and pirates! It is also a nice and colorful zone, like if I lived in Tyria would want to vacation there if not for the pirate operations in the region. Considering the Pact’s capability of dealing with the risen on their home turf it’s reasonable to assume they could easily dispatch of the pirates if they wanted.
For dailies I used to do Frostgorge due to the extra mithril and elder nodes, and ori nodes had easy access. There was also a chance for a dragon fight. However, lately I’ve been going to Gandarran Fields due to its lack of risen and proximity to Lion’s Arch. It’s not great for events though, but I love beating up on those pirates, they’re like this zone’s risen with rapid spawn rate and mobs attacking you just when you’re already finished a battle.
When players have full health and all CDs open the mobs aren’t that tough, and boy do the mobs know this about themselves!
Disclaimer: Not a hate thread, please read though.
It’s been about a month since I’ve logged into GW2. Yes, I “went back to WoW”. After two years of not playing WoW and trying every new MMO I could get my hands on…Tera, DCUO, DDO, LOTRO, SWTOR,The Secret World and finally GW2….I went back to a game i was completely finished with when I quit years ago.
Yes i know that I’m the common denominator in all of this however, WoW is still the game that keeps me logging in. There are tangible rewards everyday. I’m a mid maxer and I’ve found in that, nothing short of gear grind and raiding can satiate my MMO needs. Evidently people (myself included) dig carrots and sticks.
Just my 2 cents regarding all of the threads referencing having difficulty logging in.
Anet made a beautiful game and 1-80 was a blast. It just seems with PvE and PVP being separate (minus zerg v zerg) both are left shallow after about 30 days of play and having BIS gear 10 minutes after hitting level cap.
While WoW is indeed better than all those games you listed (apart from maybe TSW, which has no fall damage. Neither does DCUO but the crappy controls more than make up for it and make an X-Box controller mandatory for that game, and I don’t play with controllers)
And hey, not everygame was meant for everyone. I like pandas personally, but, I just can’t come to terms with that new talent system. I bailed after watching the Blizzcon video on the rogue talent tree. We got our old talents broken up and handed back to us instead of getting new stuff. And pallies, who have heavy armor, 10 second invincibility, and can heal can now outdamage us =(
“In Dragon’s Nest, movement of the mouse controls camera”
Then how are you supposed to move?
“Then we have the standard WASD movement and Space Bar as Jump.”
Eww, no thank you. When I played Alice: Madness Returns I went into the game files and switched movement to a right click movement, was far more agile and responsive. With mice you have many more degrees of movement whereas four buttons are only four buttons and are clunky and sloppy. Honestly, if you don’t have a gaming mouse you should just rebind WASD to abilities due to the ease of access through homerow. A could = 1 skill, W = 2 skill, etc. As it stands now W is my “profession” 1 skill and I use S for dodge. A is still strafe, but with a Razer Naga I use my thumb for attacking and utility abilities.
“EDIT: Of course, part of the issue is with the camera. I’ve never seen another game which requires as much hassle to move your camera as GW2’s camera system. "
I matched my camera speed to my mouse DPI (which is 5000) and don’t have this issue. To move while moving your camera just hit autorun then left click.

I can only speak for Weaponsmith since that is the one I use the most I don’t artifacer and armorsmith much even though I have them maxed.
The money isn’t in exotic weapons unless you are messing with nothing but corrupted weapons and above. Thats really all you can craft and destroyer weapons but that really getting expensive.
Don’t look at exotics look elsewhere for making money from crafting its there trust me. You have to think of what people are doing. The sets of weapons are basically skins the exotic weapons you can create aren’t profitable because they are common.
What are people doing? 1 thing Ill give you is they are Chucking rares into the forge.
I can attest to this too. Though I personally crafted most of my shortbows for the forge while only buying the T5 mats I will say that I bought armor to throw in as I haven’t maxed my leatherworking yet.
I waited until someone was done with a skillpoint before deciding to finish them off or prevent them from doing so out of etiquette and respect.
