I don’t know about walls/floors/stuff but I suspect we are getting community building in guild halls. By suspect I mean that while we wont get personal sandbox space, we will have lots of room to make our own little personal space in guild halls and/or a community centre like a pub, townhall or just a general gathering area.
Its said somewhere ~170ish placeable static objects inc with HoT. While that may not be a lot for anet that is a lot for players who have had lolsiege as non-permanent statics and things like fun boxes food trays and such.
Of these 170ish statics I’m thinking, CHAIRS, plaques/statues, weapon/armor wracks(display gear), harvest nodes(?) crafting stations, merchants, various npcs(?), music instruments(piano thing?), general non-interactive stuff like furniture and so on.
Maybe with 170ish statics available there is going to be some kind of hard cap per player or maybe guild(?) ;-(
And not just any player is going to get all 170ish so really you will be encouraged to pool those statics with other guildies, who do a variety of activities (some statics tied to achievements), to create an awesome space.
Human slave NPCs for a charr character would be cool.
Shortbow still has issues like whenever I press a button that isn’t D I’ll do disabling shot instead of the intended skills. I don’t randomly death blossom with daggers so I know it’s an issue with the weapon.
I don’t hear neighing that often but once in awhile I think it’s cute personally.
I think there should be a tiger themed hammer that gives tiger stripped footprints, roars, and gives translucent tiger slashes to accompany the hammer blows. That has potential to be very over the top, which is why it’s such a cool concept.
It already got attention some years ago. It was even worse before. The devs only ever seem to care about the unicorn bow.
Although I approve of the change greatly it wasn’t needed:
But yeah underwhelming legendaries need an update and less popular legendaries need their material investment lowered. Who wants to spend 250 powerful blood and other expensive mats just for a horn or underwater weapon?

Anyone use mouse movement here? If you keyboard turn then I can see why underwater combat would be a problem. Mouse turning is simply superior anyway. If you manage your space and positioning correctly you’ll have a better time. Also avoiding underwater in Orr and wherever you see lots of krait.
Human thief, charr warrior, Norn guardian, and my first, elementalist Asura ^_^
Isn’t he just so cool?

People don’t like underwater because krait and many risen are downright cheap with too many CC’s. Otherwise it’s great, at least if you’re either an elementalist (whirlpool is a fun skill! :D ) or a spear thief. If you have 3 or 4 skelk on you for example you can manage your skills to get in a good clean win like using that swinging skill at the proper moment or spamming invulnerability until you get six stacks (two hits). My underwater skills as thief are all sigils due to their passive stat bonuses and strategic blind of the shadow signet.
Maybe an elite skill for some classes to transform into a shark would drastically improve underwater combat’s popularity? I think a shark themed land weapon like a mace that upon every crit has a ghostly shark bite animation would be cool ^_^
I understand the need for some damage hence the power. Damage from precision and ferocity are bonus damage that one can take in place of utility. Maybe a mix of ’zerker and soldier?
Shortbow in questing is great for poisoning things in Silverwaste (whenever it’s not bothering to auto disable shot a bug I reported awhile ago), getting close to tag things quickly with infiltrator’s, and good against groups for tagging. I Go dagger/dagger as a main for utility and damage.
Basilisk venom needs a serious fix, the charge time needs to be shorter without the stupid yell at the end and more time stunned to justify the cooldown.
Agree 100% that new acrobatics sucks. Even if we still had to pay gold to respec respeccing out of new acrobatics would have been worth every copper.
Don’t do that to yourself or teammates, engineer, mesmer, guardians, and warriors (especially hammer and rifle) bring great utility.
I’m using priory boots, ascended pants and coat, privateer hat, viper gloves and viper shoulderpads. Feather is electro blue, blacks are shadow abyss, reds are crimson lion, hat star is crimson gold, and the lining on the coat is flare.
The first looks vaguely oldish whereas the second looks like he could be at least forty. Dyes are golden lion, shadow abyss, and electro blue ^_^
Captain Weyandt looks cool and in fact should have a legendary modeled after him.
We aren’t entitled to sales, they are doing us a favor by having one and it sounds ungrateful that some people are complaining about a favor.
Stop thinking about yourself people, Anet has shareholders they have a responsibility to.
Dark Souls is rightfully considered fair yet challenging, despite the player being outnumbered and even overpowered by bosses (sometimes both in some cases like Ornstein and Smough).
In PvP however players have access to the same classes, builds, and gearsets so its even fairer than Dark Souls. At the same time however PvP is potentially more challenging than dungeons and fractals due to player strategies. Low end dungeons are more challenging than bad players whereas high end PK/PvP is more challenging than high end questing/PvE.
Mighty Hammer: Gives fire bear paw prints and has bear and flame decals. A flaming bear paw swipe accompanies the hammer’s swings.
Light slicer: A flamish looking mini lightsaber (so like 90% lightsaber 10% firesword) that alternates between green and lavender with its strikes and while hilted. Footsteps also alternate gradually between green and lavender.
Tiger’s Hammer: Like the mighty hammer but with tiger stripped human footprints and a ghostly tiger’s claw swipes with the hammer (normal orange and black colored tiger but translucent)
Yog Sothoth’s shortbow: Shoots big bolts of black and deep purple energy with a corrupt looking purple trail and like the Lover but with an original monster higher than a dragon with batwings, tentacle face and a fin on its head while still being on four legs but naming stuff is hard so I can’t think of it now in place of a pony. This could be seen as a forshadowing of an event where original creatures higher than dragons could be introduced. The bow itself would have moving Yog Sothoth limbs on a small decal in a way that obviously wouldn’t compromise functionality so like the Lover basically but with a different Lovecraftian theme.
T-Rex sword: Like the above mentioned hammers but with a sword and bites instead of swipes. Makes T-Rex roaring sounds upon landing a critical hit. Lizard T-Rex none of this silly feathered raptor stuff.
Steampunk staff: Has a crystal airship at its end and a brass handle and the user creates smog footsteps. Bifrost like effects but with steam and smog.
Killshot: A sniper rifle that looks like one from modern day real life. User has bloody footprints with holes.
Coming up with ideas can be hard but these just came to me.
We can’t? I still intend to buy it though.
Yes it would be a great idea but has potential to be cheesy if certain shades are used.
Oh yeah. Soldier or celestial should be good then.
Two warriors, a guardian, an elementalist, and a mesmer. The warriors would have soldier’s gear and have rifle as a secondary weapon while primarily using hammer for crowd control. Guadian would go mace and shield with nomad’s while the mesmer wears mostly soldiers with some berserker for some shatter damage but primarily staying alive to offer buffs and group stealth so warriors can rifle 5.
An alternative I think would be two engineers, warrior, guardian, and elementalists. The engineers would go hammer and rifle like the warriors and spec primarily into gadgets and would wear full nomad’s gear since they would be optimized for crowd control, utility, and some healing. I’m just trying to theorycraft here and would like to appreciate people’s thoughts. I almost didn’t post this since if they’re sufficiently strong then the ideas would become the new meta throwing away any strategic edge I might have.
But will a reskinned ascended still give legendary footsteps?
I’m mature for my age.
I’d like to see all races with Sailor Moon hairstyles and three or four color swatches. If you wanna consistent color just swatch all four the same ^_^
I think a Guile or Benimaru Nikaido have awesome hair inspirations, especially for human males though I’d like to see them on all races.
K-On! Also has some beautiful inspiration for female hairstyles ^_^
Don’t forget one of the most important ones!
- Elite Specializations must be balanced with the base professions and not feel like an upgrade.
Then why even bother calling it “elite”?
Considering the work that goes into legendaries the ability to stat swap should stay. If anything armor needs stat swapping abilities so you wouldn’t have to farm or buy more mats to craft yet another set of gear but with different stats. If you’re going into a situation where you need soldier’s swap to soldier’s, if you’re going into a situation where berzerker is optimal go with that. It maximizes flexibility solving many issues.
I like the straight power increase better because boons can be stolen by some classes. Wouldn’t want our own traits to be used against us.
I think introducing reveal resistance and scaling it with precision and healing power would be a good idea.
Thank God i didn’t waste my time and cash on Bolt…S/D thief dead in HoT
Warriors and guardians can still use bolt ^_^
It’s something you want but don’t need. It’s not a new tier
many players would argue the same thing about ascended in fact i know quite a few players who haven’t even bothered to make ascended yet coz its stat gain benefit is so insignificant
so anyone who made it didn’t relay need it they wanted it coz i think we can all agree that you can manage just as well without it using exotic armours
i think too many players are hung up on the fact that theres no better stats on it and compleatly missing the fact that this armour IS better than ascended simply because of the option to change stats
no matter how i look at it i see this as an upgrade and the next step up on armour qualityAscended WAS a new tier (and generated quite the backlash) but legendary won’t be. Legendary equipment merely equals the top available tier, but allows free stat reselection (and a unique skin with special effects)
It wasn’t the ascended armor itself that was the problem but the need for it and agony resistance in fractcals. The biggest problem is the vertical gating where a gimmicky mechanic, not lack of skill gets you killed in the higher (and even lower) levels. A major problem with ascended gear is it isn’t infused right out of the gate and to infuse it you need to run the fractals. This forces the player to find people actually willing to run lower levels to get the reward level higher and farm for infused mats. There’s agony resist infusions on the TP which is good, but they’re a tease since you can’t actually use them.
A simple fix would be as soon as ascended gear is crafted give it an infusion slot immediately and do away with reward levels, so if your first fractal is 40 you’ll still obtain level 40 rewards. If you’re good enough to clear it then don’t you deserve it anyway? Traditional gating and its problems breaks the base, you have people who’ll only do higher fractals and who can blame them? The rewards are better. Get rid of agony resistance and reward gating then everyone geared and researched appropriately can do the higher up fractals.
An even better fix would be getting rid of agony entirely, but that doesn’t seem on the books unfortunately. :(
It’s PvP. At least people weren’t trying to fool you into logging out of the battleground for being undergeared like in some other game. Badges are obtained through participation so you gotta start somewhere. One of the reasons I quit that game.
PvP is the fairest content for obvious reasons despite some major imbalances (use one of the OP classes to balance things then instead of being a drag on your team) but “toxic” attitudes are everywhere in this medium.
Thief’s could be better at 1v1’ing than any other class. But if thief was buffed to the point where it was better at 1v1’ing than any other class then as compensation it’d have to be nerfed in other area’s.
What you folks are discussing is the idea of an archetype. In your mind the “thief” or thieves in general should be a class/profession that excel at 1v1’s or duels (Talking about the idea of a thief both in and out of Guild Wars here). I agree that archetype-wise a thief should be somewhat good at 1v1 fights. But the duelist role/archetype/fantasy fuel is filled by the role of the mesmer. In my eyes mesmer’s are the class that are archetype-wise designed to fill the role of a duelist (They even have a trait line named dueling).
Conceptually/archetype wise I don’t think the thief should be the master of 1v1’s. I think they should be good at assassinating as thieves are commonly related to assassins (In my mind at least. Dunno in Fire Emblem thieves become assassins). I also think they should be good at laying heavy condition’s/poisons. The latter role isn’t really filled in my opinion. But the whole idea of a thief as an assassin is relatively met – at least for me.
Again though, the thief shouldn’t be better in 1v1’s than any other class in my book. If any class had to have that tittle it should be mesmers (Because again, they’re the duelist class with a duelist traitline. Not thieves).
Mesmers would be better off not existing and having their skills spread out to other classes, like necros getting illusions, elementalists getting ports, guardians getting chaos storm, and thieves should get manipulations.
Plus 1 isn’t even a real role anyone can join in his buddy’s fight. Why not just go with two warriors, a guardian, elementalist, and either an engineer or mesmer?
First of all, i would say that the job for a thief isn’t to 1v1. His job in PvP is to help his teamates and change a n v n situation into a n+1 v n situation.
Let me me explain this more: Thief can’t actually duel any other class.
A very skillfull thief can’t duel any other skillfull class because the gap is too big. You’ll counter by saying: “u can dodge, u can get stealthed, u can rupt, u can time” and i’ll agree, but the only way to win against anyone in duel is to make zero mistake while your opponent makes many.
A good Warrior/Mesmer/Inge/Ranger/Guard/Ele will wait until you’ve used all your breakstuns/dodges to burst/CC you and kill you.
A good Necro/Guard burn/Inge condi will wait a good opportunity and put all the condi he can and just kill you.
Of cours, I’m talking about good players, you can easily find trashy people and 100-0 them. but on the competitive stages, thief is the lowest class actually.
In other words Anet screwed up the balancing big time. We already knew that.
I think there need to be three color swatches like what armors have but with hair. In general of course not just for dudes.
RNG is never fun :(
Wow you are so funny! Keep the jokes coming!
Considering how much damage enemies in Verdant Brink do, I laugh, outright laugh, at the notion of ‘tanks’ at the moment. And healing power is still in the gutter as a stat, which would be one way for a tank to do more.
My shadow refuge is up from the 200s to mid 400s per tick with a little bit of healing power gear meaning an ascended triforge, set of exotic zealot’s shoulders and ascended zealot’s pants. I’ll replace the shoulders with ascended berzerker though.
Refreshing the plea for the school uniform that was data mined ages ago. Armor skins or outfit, I don’t care which, just let me drop 2000 gems on a school uniform!!!
Ps would pay pretty money for cat ears and tail as well.
I like those ideas ^_^
The witch outfit being for sale. I looked in the previews and oh my gosh it looks so cool!
What I don’t like is the dialogue near the Mystic Forge. Ever since the 00s media seems to have become too self-aware of itself. “I saw an asura throw thousands of swords into the Mystic Forge! Zommoros must be armed to the hilt in blood vials and weapons by now!” or something.
It’s funny when you and a friend make fun of something and laugh about it, or a parody medium deconstructs something like Spaceballs or Family Guy Star Wars episode did. It isn’t funny however if in a Star Wars movie the characters themselves are aware of certain plot holes or other audience observations, or Batman being criticized for being a weirdo for dressing and acting the way he does in-universe. Leave the deconstruction to the fans and parodies.
Can the dye pool for the dye packs please only contain Rare dyes?
With the current gem prices that keep rising it’s really a shame that you still drop useless blue/green dyes
With an only rare dye drop pool you can at least get something that’s worth your gems.Side-question: Who buys those Color Swatches?
Can the reward pool for Black Lion chests please contain only tickets and ticket scraps?
Chests are a different beast (or should be.) However, I’d replace tonics (conspicuously absent from the gem store directly…) with 50 non metal/leather/fabric T6 mats. So your consolation prize if you didn’t get anything exclusive could be 50 powerful blood, 50 armored scale, and 50 vicious fang.

I agree with this post 100%. The problem with the current system is it gives common easily obtainable dyes that go for mere coppers on the TP (for good reason I might add) when no one buys the packs with exclusives for a common dye. No one buys the Taimini dye kit for a freakin’ blurple.
The biggest problem with the dye packs is they’ll give common dyes (all I got ) which can be obtained through nonexclusive means. This means you can spend 1000 gems on dye packs on not even get a single exclusive, the only reason you’re buying the packs to begin with.
As for the electro dye market prices were overly inflated anyway and had to come down.
Or roll a warrior or elementalist. If everyone’s specced for reveal yet no one stealths I’d say that’s a pretty good hardcounter. The 200 extra power from being revealed trait is more of a bandaid on a broken bone. If there’s nothing to cut through a reflection wall or shield then why should there be for stealth?
Roll a bunker build since people tend to save killing tanks for last, this way you maximize kill count before dying yourself assuming you’re in the inferior zerg.
Two pistols is actually better than a greatsword. I wanted death knights in “some other game” to have stealth but meh, you can’t have it all. Besides we already have enough classes that use greatsword. Sorry that you can’t equip eternity on a thief, it would take so much rebalancing to make it possible. Personally, I’d love a twilight dagger skin with footstep effects but since legendaries are supposed to be unique to a specific weaponclass I think a good second legendary dagger would be like a mini lightsaber that transitions from green to purple to back but clearly magical instead of technological and with interchanging green and purple glowing footsteps.
Like how leather is currently at vendoring prices? Then good, time could be spent doing stuff that’s actually enjoyable like jumping puzzles, killing things in dungeons (fractals aren’t fun), and WvW and with prices lower full ascended would be more affordable. Cotton, linen and such aren’t just used for ascended mats and insignias but also insignias to level crafting disciplines.

Have you thought about moving to an SSD? Projections say their prices will rival HDD’s next year and with Cannonlake all the bus kinks for PCIe SSDs should be worked out, making them objectively better than the bottlenecked SATA III SSDs. PCIe busses weren’t meant to accommodate a data storage medium, but since PCIe SSDs are out they’re working on it.
Windows has a near monopoly on operating systems. Apple should sell their OS as a separate product. It’d be great if more companies produced operating systems without the flat, banal design scheme and useless resource hogs in the background. Apple has a much better interface (I’m not familiar with their newer ones though so they may be following the flat lazy design trend too) since they utilize more colors and details, but like someone else mentioned you don’t have any control over your hardware, and they’re overpriced. Want a new graphic card? Sorry, Mac doesn’t play that way.
I’m saying keep the level scaling but adjust the drops and give players more options, either a level freeze or return to area appropriate drops, not level appropriate. World of Warcraft has its problems such as stat based dodging instead of active dodging and gear being a huge factor in structured PvP. People don’t go to mid range zones for level 80 mats, which let’s be honest is all blue, green, and yellow gear are good for.
Keyword being chance. Mounts are a great concept but unfortunately wouldn’t work with how Guild Wars 2 is designed. I think dueling is a great idea for this game. Holy trinity would be bad because it would make full zerker groups not viable meaning dungeons would last longer.
If you want level 80 drops just go to level 80 zones. Silverwaste gives loads of level 80 drops, though beware since even basic salvage kits sometimes give gossamer too.
Due to thieves’ situational damage (up close, from behind) it should have the highest damage output out of any class. Elementalists have AoEs and range, Warriors have heavy armor and crowd control, guardians have utility and healing.
May as well not even bother with thief in PvP anymore even though its skills were designed for it. Thief was a much better class three years ago when the game was much better overall. No Silverwaste sure, but no fractals and therefore no agony gating and people only wanting to do high level, content was actually good with thief other than shortbow farming in zergs to tag as many mobs as possible, legendaries were rare enough where having them meant you stood out, and mats weren’t ludicrously overpriced (yes, cotton, linen, and silk back in the day were sold in copper not silver but suddenly when you need them most they go way up, imagine that -_- )
In World of Warcraft you can decide to have a character’s level frozen (primarily done by twinks for PvP purposes) but since you get level 80 drops even in starter zones on a level 80 character it would be more meaningful to do so in this game for the consistent mid-level gear drops. I know it takes awhile to level purely off killing things but you’ll eventually level out of the cotton and linen tier gear drops.
Feel the fire of Balthazar!
When I was new the first thing I did was rebind WASD to skills due to their quick and convenient access to homerow and just mouseturned. I’m sure the newbies will figure it out.
