Can't finish last file of Nov 5th patch. [Merged]

As of today (September 19th) the issue is still going on.
There are many options that aren’t skimpy at all like the wedding and noble countess outfits among others. As for armor sets you have some nice light (human cultural t1 for example), heavy, and even medium armors.
There’s a heavy armor set in the gem store that’s quite skimpy. Gladiator set is also quite skimpy.
If steal could lock F skills then way to many things would have to be rebalanced with that in mind, including steal itself. So while the idea sound simple enough its pretty unrealistic and impractical to implement.
but it is realistic and balanced and practical to implement multiple skills that completely shut down thieves main offensive and defensive abilities? okkkkk
Stealth is best defensive mechanic in the game currently and needs reveal to be countered. Simple solution is add casting animation to reveal skills so you can dodge it, if you cant, you suffer.
Don’t make me laugh the last ones are all instant,1 random and more to come. Trolling the trolls.
I know reveals are instant, but BALANCED SOLUTION is to make these skills dodgeable = there is your counterplay to reveal.
The problem with that is you’d need to blow a dodge on yet another thing. Dodges aren’t unlimited when you account for endurance. With the need to dodge reveals you’d be vulnerable to attacks that need dodging as well.
Reveal shouldn’t even be in the game, if I wanted to be seen at certain moments I wouldn’t be stealthing then.
“For the few people who refuse to get rid of their pirated windows xp OS its been possible before to give the option to stick with the dated and old 32 bit / dx9 and have a 64 bit dx12 option.”
Since you bring up XP a good way for Microsoft to practically have a license to print money is offering an XP or 7 GUI because Metro and its overly simplistic color scheme suck.
“I would really look into this, DX12 is suppose to be super dev friendly, might make future expansions a hell of a lot less “dev resource intensive” and save you money in the long run.”
If I were in charge that would be my very first priority for that very reason.
Like the guy who saved black lion chest exclusive skins for when they’d (you know it was going to happen someday) patch the key farm you just have to see far ahead. Anything that improves efficiency and ease of use should be given top priority so the other priorities fall into place much faster and more smoothly. Why is a 2015 Honda better than a 70’s muscle car? Because it is far more fuel efficient and far less expensive especially relative to performance.
“Basically I see a GW3 being more like skyrim, maybe with co-op…which would be a fantastic thing to make btw, get on steam and sell it for $50 and take that money to the bank.”
I don’t agree. Skyrim’s mechanics are terrible and kinda clunky. I think it would be better moving in a Souls direction so somewhere between GW2 and Dark Souls 1 (or 3 if it improves upon it) mechanically.
“he only two solutions for Gw2 however, as I see it, is to do the blizzard thing, double down on the games you do have, keep them modern, invest in them, continually develop them with no end in sight….or put the game into maintenance mode after HOT, do light upkeep on the code and bugs, and downscale resources put into it as people trickle out.”
I agree with this. I don’t mind if the game is down for an entire week or two so long as we’re being told they’re making drastic technical improvements such as DirectX 12 implementation. We really need 64-bit clients too.
“if you get a solid writer and take the storyline up a few notches.”
The mechanics and overall gameplay need to come first however.
Why would they take a silly reveal GM trait when elixir X is so much more superior and versatile?
“Experts at tagging stuff with a ricocheting shortbow, thieves can tag reasonably scaled mobs reasonably well. Despite the highly specific positional nature of your best source of damage, backstab still isn’t as good as an elementalist or warrior burst so why bother?Thief can join a teammate’s fight, but who can’t really? Just reroll anything else, any other class has better utility and damage.”
o wait april is already past…. man i need to lay off the juice
ps thief still sucks
It’s up to the devs to do something about it though.
For a 3 year old MMO with DX9 are the graphics pretty good.
Far better as any other existing and upcoming MMO this year.
Most of the upcoming MMOs based on an old unreal engine and dont look better. (blade & soul, etc)The clothes and armors are superb.
There are so much details.
The last winters day weapons, as an example. The snowflakes in the glas spheres of the weapons are extreme sharp real looking sknowflakes. Not only white blurry dots.
But most of the players dont see this. :(I dont know what some people playing when they open up such threads. o_O
PS:
GW2 uses ambient occolusion… see screenshots.PPS:
I will see a MMO with such effects (and amount of players) AND better graphics, without using a NASA Servercenter. :D
Think about the witcher 3… to play it on maxed out details.
I would say we should be realistic. ^^And since the last patch there was a noticeable performance boost for zergs and large scale battles.
Guildmembers and myself recognized it in some large scale fights with higher or highest player count settings.
You’re absolutely right, the clothes and overall design are superb (nice pictures by the way, I especially like the blue Sylvari picture ^_^ ) which is why this game deserves current optimizations. The average gamer is saving up for 2016 hardware (especially Pascal or Arctic Island GPUs) as we speak, and cutting edge gamers on the edge of the resolution arms race have already uploaded 8k gaming footage. Even ISPs have plans for increasing their bandwidth in preparation for 4k and 8k. Better graphics technology would simply refine the already excellent design and bring it more to life, better shines on certain textures, etc.
On a low resolution picture if you zoom in you’ll see terrible pixelization, heck even on 4k somethings look overly pixelated when you zoom in far enough but still stays reasonable.
Warriors have rifle access, don’t be afraid to equip one! Hammer and rifle or greatsword and rifle. I’m sure longbow has some utility to it too, but who cares about bows? Well, shortbows for ranger are good and thief okayish (decent for tagging and rushing to rez with the 5 skill though the slow upstart means even tagging can be a challenge especially after AoE or even single knockbacks are used that screws up AoE and ricochets like elementalist lightning or thief shortbow 1 ) but overall guns are superior for outright damage.
I entered a driver disk specifically to upload DirectX 9 and it very explicitly told me it wasn’t compatible. The only way to use it is Windows compatibility mode., which Guild Wars 2 set to Windows 8 automatically.
I have some 8k screenshots but can’t really seem to set the resolution to 8k anymore, probably related to the crashing bug (I play on 4k mainly) Granted, it’s not a resolution I actually intend to do actual gameplay on but rather strictly screenshots. It’s a 2-10 fps slideshow at 8k, probably mostly due to bandwidth limitations despite my CAT-7 cable since Comcast doesn’t offer an option that would enable playable 8k as well as Dark Souls being playable at 8k but I still plan big hardware upgrades next year especially Pascal.
In other words even with a Pascal 1080 (or 1180 if they’re skipping another gen) the bandwidth bottleneck should still make things a slideshow
I second this. Despite the vastly inferior boot times and aesthetic of Windows 10 (all that flat lazily designed Metro…eww) I use it anyway just for the DirectX12 support.
However, Guild Wars 2 runs on DirectX 9, which Windows 10 has no support for. Whenever I try switching the resolution to 8k for screenshots (I need to switch it in nVidia, log out then revert back to 4k) it simply crashes in game and if I manage to control + alt + delete I’ll see that DirectX 9 is the source of the problem then I’m obligated to hard reset. Sometimes when doing Teq I’ll randomly be disconnected.
The previous 12 pages also communicate countless quality of life and even critical improvements that would come from updating the API.
Keep in mind that Pascal will be released (GTX 1180? They skipped over the 800 series and logically the 1000 series should be out by now yet they’re skipping HBM going right for HBM2 next year) quite a long time from now, but still soon enough to start worrying about optimizing for it.
I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and it crashes often usually due to some DirectX 9 issue since it needs to run in comparability mode. Everytime I try changing resolution it crashes to the point where I have to hard reset it.
You make a really good point on lack of healers ruining a big aspect of pvp, you either go full damage and burst someone down in seconds, or go full sustain and win due to attrition; there’s no middle ground. Dedicated healers are there to keep both these issues in check.
I also agree with @raxx.8914 wholeheartedly, there’sa lot of room for improvement regarding clarity.
The major problem with having dedicated healers is they prolong the fight, sometimes even too much. The healer is obviously a top priority as a target. Using Silverwaste as an example you’d much rather go after cheapo teagarrifs or trolls first, teagarrifs have an OP charge where if you dodge back you’ll get hit, but if you dodge forward you’ll land in a damage field, move your mouse in a direction then dodge and your back is to the thing. If you hit the thing you’ll notice its health regenerating, because three little healer things are there.
Funny to use a PvE example for PvP, but the principle is the same. Healers simply mess up the kill priority due to their ability to keep players alive, so you can’t focus on the big CC and condition people or those with cheap abilities other than the guy able to bring someone to full health just yet.
I like the idea of a GM trait in Shadow Arts totally negating reveal. Since reveal is a new mechanic I’d buff master and other traits with healing and condition removal upon stealth to avoid the reveal immunity from sacrificing what we simply just had before.
Ever since I got boost enchantment powder I stopped buying keys, and according to the droprate you are super likely to get it. I got 2 scraps in a chest so the chances of blowing gems on a key just for two powders and an unidentified dye or anything else I wouldn’t want are too large to be worth the investment.
Dragonhunter does sound kewl ^_^
It would just make some fights longer but what benefit does this have on the game?
More challenging content. Less professions left outside of the meta. More diversity of builds. More easy to ballance.
25 stacks represent too much % from damage output.Nope on all 5 points.
Stacking might is the dumbest mechanic ever. Requires zero skill. Just bring together proper professions with proper builds, stack in a corner and faceroll everything.
The challenge must mean correct positioning, the proper use of skills, escaping deadly blows, not bringing in bigger guns to fight
Let’s see a list of abilities bosses have:
Mai Trin:
-She begins the fight with 10 stacks of Captain’s Shield, which reduces damage to her by 10% per stack, so she is virtually invulnerable until that buff is removed.
The only way to remove this buff is to arrange for her to be hit by Horrik’s electrostatic shots, i.e. those that appear with a blue AoE. The electrostatic shots pulse several times and remove 2 stacks each pulse, so several stacks can be removed if you can keep Mai Trin within the blue AoE.
It should be noted that Horrik has an attack that covers the entire floor, making dodging everything impossible.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Champion_Grawl_Shaman
“Unshakable – Gains defiance when targeted by crowd-control skills. Blind is 10% as effective. Weakness and vulnerability last 50% less time.
Immune to crowd control. Crowd-control skills remove stacks of defiance
Defiance-Immune to crowd control. Crowd-control skills remove stacks of defiance
Cannot be chilled, crippled, knocked down, launched or pushed back.
Stability- Cannot be chilled, crippled, knocked down, launched or pushed back."
Please, anything with those kinds of advantages, damage output, and huge HP levels aren’t owed a non-optimal non-stacking strategy.

25 stacks represent too much % from damage output.
The problem with longer fights is it narrows the room for error since stuff will die slower, giving bosses more chances to use more abilities while players get worn down more from cooldowns needing to be popped.
I say keep might but make legitimately more challenging content rather than gating certain abilities away or cheap mechanics.
Ele masterrace
PVE: Ele is the only class which is taken twice in a meta group
PvP: Top Teams stack at least 2 Elementalists every match
WvW: Every commander wants eles in their Zerg ( you might see a lot of longbow rangers, but organized Zergs always want eles.)Warrior is fine too but heavily overplayed
Thief is good, but don’t expect to ein 1v1 fights in pvp unless you are really good, it isnt your job anyway
1. There can be two guardians and warriors that do just as well.
2. Yeah, the reasons for that should be looked into by the balancing devs.
3. Ele has great support and AoE and tanks fairly well when geared correctly.
4.Warriors are the star class, pretty much every lead character in an RPG is the warrior archtype. Paladins/guardians come in at a close second. Magic users on the other hand are typically cast in supporting roles.
Auto locking out of classes you don’t wanna bring.
Dungeon selling mechanics being enforced has its troubles and even potential for abuse on many ends. You can program it so that the players are all locked into the instance to ensure completion, but this opens up the floodgate for trolling, or people logging leaving the seller hanging.
I like might, maybe tone it for PvP and WvW where balance actually matters.
Mesmer also has stealth :P
But it can handle itself just fine without it.
Does OP not realize that we have a separation of church and state in the USA?
Besides, if you’re going to use a single Leviticus quote to excuse your homophobia and say that the game is pandering to “politics”, you should probably also petition ANet to remove the following:
Bowl of Clam Chowder, Clam Cake, Plate of Frostgorge Clams (don’t eat shellfish)
Looting your enemies corpses, Necromancy in general (don’t touch the bodies of unclean animals)
The Elder Dragons (don’t touch lizards)
Fireflies, Sparkflies and mosquitoes (don’t touch flying insects with four legs)
All of the non-christian lore gods (don’t invent gods or idols)
Thief move “Steal” (don’t steal)
PVP (don’t endanger the life of your neighbor, don’t injure or kill others)
Armor repair (don’t tear your clothes)
Disguises and tonics (don’t lie)
That event in Queensdale where you have to pick up the trampled grapes (those are to be left for the poor)
The norn tattoos (don’t get tattoos)
Playing a caster class (turning to mediums or spiritualists)
Guild Halls (don’t sell land permanently)So, since you haven’t mentioned any of that, can we just drop the ruse and stop pretending that this is about feeling threatened by the game’s lack of christianity and just admit that you’re being homophobic? Which, btw, is against the terms of service of this game if you want to get into the rules of the place you’re in right now.
Pretty hypocritical of the Biblical authors to say don’t invent gods lol!
Reveal would be useless against a team of scrappers, revenants, and reapers anyway.
I didn’t see this subject addressed yet so I apologize if I missed the thread on it.
It’s quite obvious that putting NPC’s next to the bank in LA means they are going to be heard A LOT! You guys know this so their location was obviously planned… Now I have no problem with gay NPC’s in this game….. However I do have a problem with you using “children” to push your politics as though it is just an innocent game the children are playing. If you want to use adults to have this type of conversation then so be it but using children is just tasteless. I’m sure plenty of people will disagree with me… not everyone believes in God and that’s fine but many people do, so how about let’s play neutral and leave stuff like this out of the game completely… thank you for caring. Respect is a two-way street.
How about you stop trying to impose your will on a private corporation. The scene in no way advocates harming anyone and is merely innocent play between children.
Expansion pack…presumably.
Won’t need multi-box, just Teamspeak and ask guildies for a premade with engis. Maybe not even that. Lots of people will wanna get in on that OP goodness.
Norn guardian and hunter
Asura elementalist
Charr warriors and engineers.
Human…anything really.
Engineer because I already have some ascended leather gear (berserker and zealot’s gear) and looks like it’s going to be gamebreakingly OP, though I’d need more condition damage and defensive stats for WvW. Meh, I can go exotic for those it’s only a marginal stat difference between exotic and ascended anyway.
Class change. Since I already have leather ascended for my thief I can actually have a viable class for PvP in time for HoT especially considering the scrapper changes.
You dont need ascended gear for pvp. Just make a new engi and youre all set.
But I wanna be optimal. A fully ascended engi will beat out a fully exotic engi in WvW.
You can put the Ascende gear in bank then take it out with engi and wear it. Ascended gear is account buond.
But it’s all ’zerker and some zealot
Are you guys noticing engis are also getting more stability and might? And that it synergizes with Flamethrower? Which is the best weapon to use to catch a Thief in stealth with Lock On, which Reveals stealthed enemies for 6s and gives them 10 vuln at a 1200 range? And that engineers regen health “rapidly” with swiftness and have a popular trait that gives them swiftness every time they use a kit?
So you’re looking at perma-stability, effortless might stacking, swiftness, multiple regeneration sources, mobility, stuns, dazes, not one but TWO good stealth detectors, etc etc.
Have fun with that. :p
Think I will. Sounds crazy OP enough where I can take a team of 5 engineers or 4 engineers and a mesmer for the chaos storm and shatter burst (their stealth is irrelevant given their other utilities) and compete against similar setups.
Sorry, didn’t have the exact word but the principle and function are the same. Specifically though on female characters down to the bellybutton to not interfere with the skirt while on males down to the waist.
Yeah there does seem to be an overabundance of trenchcoat like stuff. Meh, the Viper set (not a whole outfit) isn’t a trenchcoat so that’s a step somewhere. Female characters have great options when it comes to leather (and guys too, but still lots of coats) but there needs to be more variety. Maybe more takes and variants on the ninja theme? Lots of Eastern themed stuff was suggested.
A lot of leather armor just looks raggy though :( I like the privateer set, but again that’s a trench coat. It’s easy to come up with ideas for females, many of them implemented (A-line skirt, hobble, nice leather pants, knee length skirt, very short skirt, etc.) but for men it’s tougher since we only have so many cuts and styles available. I mean it can be done and when the various cuts get established they can be built on. Maybe…more dragon themed stuff? Lion themed leather gear sounds cool at first, but lions would go together with plate because lions are associated with leadership. Maybe a giraffe, monkey, or wolf theme for leather? I don’t mean a furry outfit but designs like the Viper set without it being an almost carbon copy. Wait…other idea buried in all that:
Lion themed plate outfit! :D A big lion face covering the torso. Or T-Rex themed shoulders since dinosaurs are cool and T-Rex is the best dinosaur. Hopefully they won’t feather them up like they did with raptors that’d be lame -_-
I personally think chest farm zergs are fun ^_^ You get to see all sorts of interesting characters along the way. The prizes beat out the long jumping puzzle prizes too, which is good for the achievement once only.
Still having the “1 file remaining” issue. Have tried everything I’ve seen documented. (-assetsrv, -repair, delete local.dat, language change)
Same here and sometimes when trying to screenshot it’ll crash or randomly crash during Teq
Over the torso would be one of those knight aprons
The word you seek is “tabard.”
Thanks for coming up with a new idea for the store! I think by now ANet is well aware that people want old items back. I’m not saying folks should stop posting the requests — there may be cumulative impact — but I love seeing a request I haven’t seen before when I load up the new posts in the thread.
I mean as part of the outfit not a separate one. There can never be too many full plated sets! :D
Revealed training isn’t counterplay. Counterplay is when someone reveals me and I can do something or something happens to react to it so I’m not totally screwed, or can even possibly turn the tables. 200 power with no access to backstab or my main survival source isn’t very valuable. It doesn’t counteract the reveal. It just gives a mild buff.
Example of active counterplay: if an SA trait made steal remove reveal, I could save steal instead of opening with it, then use it to counter the effects of lock on/sic ’em or what have you.
Example of passive counter: Mirror of Anguish. Wanna try and lock down that Mesmer? Joke’s on you. In this case it’s not active counterplay since it’s automatic, but it is certainly a counter.
I already mentioned elsewhere a couple of great ideas:
1.A Shadow Arts grandmaster trait that totally ignores reveal skills.
2.Many stacks of burning and bleeding upon being revealed.
More formalwear! :D Also an combination between formalwear and plated armor for females and something equally awesome for males ^_^ Something elegant and attractive without compromising practicality. Simple, but not too simple, with a hint that there are metal plated pants under the shimmery satiny skirt. Over the torso would be one of those knight aprons but fitting enough not to obstruct the knight’s figure (including male characters too) and have the same satiny texture as the skirt. The shoulders on the female version (except on Charr females?) but would be downplayed and understated and moderately so on males.
Epaulets have a military flair to them. Men’s wedding wear in the game looks great but more appropriate for a military formal ceremony than a proper wedding, then again I’ve seen wedding pictures where the guy looks more appropriately dressed for a business meeting and had the completely wrong kind of tie so…
Anyway, you need special lighting to tell shadow abyss from shadow violet in game so the intended effect isn’t always reached. Maybe Midnight Ice would be good for a good navy look?
Ceramic outfit armor would be cool too though it would need different dye textures.
I’m tickled that, over time, many members of our community have adopted “kitten” as a cover-all word, instead of posting The Words That Should Never Be Written™.
The funny thing is when you say it in public: “I’m pretty kittened off about that!” and your friends give you the strangest looks.
I respectfully disagree on, “The words that should never be written” because sometimes I feel like writing them in some situations. Not always, sometimes.
Most of the time I think I can make my point without resorting to swear words. But there have been times I’ve deliberately typed kitten for the effect, and other times I’ve said things I didn’t realise would be censored.
I don’t see much point in using actual swear words when I know they’ll be censored.
I’ve never understood the point in censoring a forum for adults.
It’s not just for adults though. The game is rated 12 in Europe and I assume the rating is similar in other places.
Even when something’s for children censoring serves no purpose. The censorship is more about not offending the parents than the children.
I don’t see how allowing swearing would be helpful overall when it comes to debating, giving advice and writing constructive feedback.
Allowing profanity would likely distract from the point.
Imo, profanity has very little use, other than offending others and trying to bring emphasis to a particular point. The emphasis is rather lost when everybody begins to do it though, and there are far better ways of creating emphasis than sailor-mouthing the whole thing.
Or it could emphasize certain points and not to directly insult someone (no need to swear for that.) Words evolve and develop for a reason. You are merely arguing from an extreme. Lots of words of a certain kind or communication style can distract from the main point. For example, when “she” is incorrectly used in a general sense (rather than he or they) you’re focused on the garish grammar instead of what the author is actually trying to say.
Forums are primarily casual conversation anyway, leave the boring dry styles for the “professionals”.

Guess the purpose of this thread is to show what “reveal” would do to other classes.
so +1 from me
Except most of that is exaggerated. I play thief often; I know what sic em (for example) does, and it isn’t to the extent of shutting you down completely. At worst, you blind, LoS and reset the fight. The thing is, a thief’s time is very valuable. You should not be getting into fair fights as a thief. Yes, you can win them…but it’s a waste of time. Better to find a fair fight and make it an unfair fight via your arrival. That way, you get more kills more quickly, and when you cap the point your teammate there can defend it while you continue to roam. Daredevil will be different: an on-point fighter with evades instead of stealth as the primary defensive mechanic.
But simply joining a fight is something any class can do. If the class can’t 1 vs. 1 it’s underpowered, period.
Add a traitline in Shadow Arts that completely and unconditionally resist revealed (buffing other traits in Shadow Arts because revealed is a new mechanic so there wouldn’t be an overall nerf by taking revealed immunity) or other skills like the +200 power on reveal to ensure players really think hard about wanting to use a reveal skill (e.g., a skill that adds a few stacks of burning and poison upon being revealed).
This would only apply to thieves since engineers and mesmers are powerful enough with conditions and overall group utility a thief lacks.
A reflect immunity or neutralizing chronomancer abilities might be great too.
I think that what of lot of people in this thread are not considering is that most Thieves are bad, so they are pretty easy to kill. What you should be asking you self is not “How hard is it to kill thieves as a different profession?” But "how hard is it to kill other professions as a thief main. Yes, thief is probably harder than most others, but it’s not as bad as most make it out to be
If you played chess starting off without a queen you’d be “bad” too.
Even other class forums are saying things like RIP thief with their new mechanics that deny stealth. There needs to be serious rebalancing to make thief viable again.
Thief needs a serious buff especially in light of reveal. I say shadow arts should have complete reveal immunity in a trait while deadly arts should have a traitline where reveal gives a real buff and not just 200 power. Because reveal is a new status effect and you’d need to choose the reveal immunity over other options I say buff other traits to avoid a net nerf for SA thieves.
Revealed should only apply to non-Thief.
This, +10,000. At the very least have in shadow arts a trait that gives complete immunity to reveal. Since reveal didn’t previously exists buff other traits to avoid shadow arts having a net nerf effect.
Class change. Since I already have leather ascended for my thief I can actually have a viable class for PvP in time for HoT especially considering the scrapper changes.
