14.Hunters must use rapid fire on non-champs to ensure no one else can tag the event.
15.Hunters must knock enemies out of AoE fields.
16.Hunters must never use rapid fire when a combo field is up on a champion or greater, because who wants to stack lots of sweet poison on it?
17.You must not rez anyone.
18.You must never destroy the flowers, because who wants to stay safe from the AoE field?
19.You must focus on the big tanky husks instead of the trolls or teagarrifs with knockdowns, cheap charges that has a terrible hitbox, and homing attacks (both have it) that somehow manage to ignore stealth.
Meh, you can tell what someone’s saying anyway censorship like this is totally pointless. If we read kitten in certain contexts then our mind for example goes to a word that rhymes with luck but starts with f.
Chronomancer, reaper, revenent, and scrapper look overpowered as hell to the point where having a full team of them and maybe an ele thrown in won’t be optional.
Thank God i didn’t waste my time and cash on Bolt…S/D thief dead in HoT
Warriors and guardians can still use bolt
I made Incinerator though. :o Wish Guardian got a Dagger spec. I can use it on my Necro though which is my 2nd favorite class but everyone hates them in PvE. ;s
I been Thief main since beta though and play it probably 95% of the time and still rekt people with my kitten y builds. Hoping Staff and Dagger can work well together. Really wish I could wield my Dagger along side Rodgort though. /sigh
Elementalist can use incinerator too. I made The Dreamer and sadly the only other class that can use it is ranger I think elementalist should get shortbow too because I use the class and weapon but obviously at different times.
Necro should be super popular in PvE because they have lifesteal wells, meaning damage enemies and healing the team all at the same time in addition to other wells. Next big weapon to make on my list might be Mjolnir, but it’s super expensive on the TP for a reason (precursor money last time I checked) since I like using hammers on guardians and warriors.
Come on people! If you didn’t buy during the sale why do you think you’re owed the sale price? I too bought the watchwork pick a little while before it hit sale and don’t feel owed.
“The fact that it’s a digital item shouldn’t change that.”
But the fact it’s digital changes everything. Scarce real world resources are limited whereas data can be copied indefinitely. For example, you can duplicate an Mp3 file whereas you can’t duplicate a car. The potential for abuse with digital goods is just too great.
There’s a ton of those ingame, and we still can’t get them. Most of them are Cultural. If Arenanet isn’t planning to give them to us in HoT, what about just adding new Cultural vendors ? It’s not like they have to work on creating
Some of them look like outfit (some human dresses, for example), but some other seem to be regular armors, as some NPC even mix some parts. There’s clearly something to be done with those, plus it can be quite frustrating to see all those existing skins without a chance to unlock them. There’s also some single headgears, and a few faces that are restricted to NPCs (and no, I don’t think that giving an unique face to an NPC like Blaize who only appears in the lv 10 human storyline and die is important. Even Trahearne has a face that’s used by other Sylvari NPCs.).
What about adding those NPC-only faces to the character creation for Heart of Thorns ? Arenanet, please ? ;)Pictures attached, you’ll see that there’s a ton of NPC-exclusive stuff, and I’m quite sure I’ve forgot some (there may be some NPC-only Norn faces, but as I don’t play that race, I couldn’t tell).
EDIT : Updated with some Asura faces. Don’t hesitate to share if you’ve got some screens of more NPC exclusive stuff.
I like the human female in purple’s outfit in the second row ^_^
It can, but the rewards are typically very long term, like grinding to afford certain dyes.
That would be totally awesome! Or at least have an entire race switch main an offhand if nothing else. I think making Asuras main lefty would be cool ^_^
So nerf thief more even though it’s the worst class in the game atm, and not let the QQers learn that they need to learn how to play against a class that stealths, which would be bettering the community and creating smarter players?
Lol, worst class? You have unparalelled mobility, burst and can control 1on1s at will (engaging/disengaging). The only downside is you are squishy.
Kitten, the reason cele is meta in pvp is thieves and burn guards and shatter mesmers. You are forcing all other professions to be tanky just to survive your initial burst out of nowhere.
And you still think thieves are up?
The problem seems to be you dont like playing a glasscannon, i’d suggest you roll a warrior then…
Disclosure: i am by no means asking for a nerf. Just stating that thieves are not that bad either….
1.Classes are getting reveals so thief damage needs to be raised to compensate for it so thieves could be viable without ever having to stealth, or at least have reveal immunity as a tradeoff for damage (thieves only Mesmers don’t need reveal immunity they have chaos storm and shatter burst). Reveal skills are dumb because if we wanted to be seen we wouldn’t be stealthing at those moments!
2.The “unparalleled mobility” doesn’t even make up for the weak damage output, which is positional (backstab damage requires actually facing the back)
3.Since it’s known everyone builds with thieves in mind I’m conscientiously putting together a team of 2 elementalists, a mesmer (or maybe warrior instead so reveal skills the opponent has equipped would be rendered totally useless), engineer, and guardian, good luck with anti-thief builds against a team like that. Thief mobility relies on initiative anyway so it’s a limited resource.
I’m not intending to nerf pistol offhand, I just want the SA D/P Spec to be nerfed, thats why SA has to be nerfed in one way or another. Trickery and Deadly Arts are completly fine as they are, they’re obligatory for any Thief PvP build anyways. What definitely isn’t fine is the easymode that D/P SA has become. If you don’t want the weaponset to be nerfed you will have to nerf Shadow Arts.
They could buff the kitten out of Critical Strikes and Acro and people would still rather play SA, because of its current design (passive kitten ftw) and its (exclusive) synergy with D/P. A simple buff to CS or Acro won’t change the D/P SA Meta.
I don’t get how you can possibly be against my suggestion, its certainly not the best, but it makes offhand dagger more viable for any spec and only slightly nerfs D/P by not being able to get Hiddenkiller and Shadow Rejuvenation.
So? Just add more passive stuff to other traitlines and buff them to be on par with shadow arts.
MY suggestions
1: Race change
Price 1000 gems
- if you have completed your story quest you can change your race
snip*
Race Change please.
+1
As much as I wanna +1 this it would interfere too much with storymode mechanics.
Daily reminder that we don’t buy a high speed service and CAT-7 cable to see 2-200kb per second.

Lots of people seem to be having downloader issues.
Good luck with that. I tried a full reinstall and the downloader is still broken with its 80’s level of download speed.
Crashes happen quite a bit especially when screenshotting. Also the downloader is still horribly slow.
“Man, that last Mordrem event sure was grindy! Why are you forcing me to grind?!”
“Oh no, they nerfed key farming! How will I grind for keys now?! ANET Y U NO LET ME GRIND!?”
Not that fair of a comparison because the mordrem event was for a limited time only while the monsters didn’t drop any mats whereas monsters you kill on the way to 10 will drop them. Also you needed to play for awhile within a certain time constraint during the modrem event whereas key farming could be done on the player’s terms and timeframe.
As for number 3 those players were exploiting, and it’s surprising how long the key farm thing lasted. I knew they’d eventually do so. I never got around to doing it myself though
For me, the only thing that made the Black Lion Keys justifiable to farm was that the results from the chests were RNG. Paying real money for RNG is just ridiculous.
That said, I only farmed the keys a few times (usually when bored or wanted a skin on sale ) because it gets tedious really fast. I hold no ill will to those who could bare doing it over and over again. In fact, I appreciate it because it kept the price of Black Lion skins at reasonable levels.
Agree that paying for RNG is ridiculous but it’s the intended purpose of the keys. I hold no ill will over the players either but the farming, as reasonable as it was to do, is technically an exploit.
I’m sick of it by playing almost three years and not feel rewarded for it. On the contrary, what I got because I had to pay to have bought gems to have an ascending equipment. Unlike adolescents aged 15 to 25 who mostly do not have children, job or something I have 39 years and do not feel that the game is fair to me rewarding me in 3 or 4 hours I can play every day. You developers are ignoring the casual gamers. I will not be making the insane grind you will put sure to indulge people who have the time to do it. Is fair only those who have the spare time can have the best items in the game?
I understand the concept of reward for effort, but think well, if you release the legendary equipments for the elite, let them ascended to the casual.
Umm, lots of high school kids and college people have jobs. And…25 dude that’s like a seasoned grown up.
Other highlights from the patch notes include:
-Laurel vendors now sell 1 hour of the new Item Booster, replacing the Laureate Magic Find Booster.
-Laurel vendors now sell 1 hour of the new Experience Booster, replacing the Laureate Experience BoosterSo no more stacking that extra Laureate booster, ‘cause it doesn’t exist.
curls up in corner This patch was less of a patch and more of a dressed-up kick in the spleen.
Ouch! Sounds like a terrible change
But I liked the cat and baby lion minis that went on sale and lots of people wanted the jungle explorer outfit and bagslot expansions.
Agree that the event was terrible, no loot, no experience for lower leveled players (who should have been used anyway due to cheaper waypoint costs) and the mechanics of it encouraged tag and run rather than sticking it to the end. Then we’d have to deal with overscaled mobs, and overscaled teagarifs and trolls aren’t fun.
As for number 3 those players were exploiting, and it’s surprising how long the key farm thing lasted. I knew they’d eventually do so. I never got around to doing it myself though
But a dungeon should be challenging within the context of battle mechanics and not cheapo environmental factors like heated floors you can get stomped off of. They’re only “easy” because people acclimate to them and become part of our muscle memory. A good dungeon would involve randomly generated maps with reasonable power levels and AI. So an AI may wait for a charged attack before using an interrupt skill or knockdown, the solution to which would be autoattacking them to death so it doesn’t trigger.
Wish I had the privilege of seeing that toxic chat, at least those guys were lucky enough to get their patch downloaded to play the game
Yes you can have a word, you’re the proud owner of the word…puppies ^_^
Still slow on my end. I tried all the suggestions even Azyume’s and resetting my Norton Firewall and resetting the thing in CMD and nothing seems to work.
Or offer smexy new outfits to offset any profit loss ^_^ Though to be honest it’s kinda hard topping the noble count and wedding dress outfits. Of course making the male equivalent of new outfits super kewl. I think a new plate outfit with a shimmery cloth skirt for girls (yes it’ll be a practical yet still beautiful armor set that’s classy, elegant, modest, yet can still see the form nicely) and for guys a plated robe like Obi-Wan with a metal chestplate…or something. Doesn’t have to be those things specifically but along the same aesthetic.
Players get really upset when skins reach certain prices. With key farming dead, let’s see how high prices go.
Blame the resellers. You know, people who buy stuff not to actually use it but to resell it at a profit.
With blacklight dye which is actually pretty cool. I’m digging the pirate weapon skins from the jumping puzzle just wanna warn people to bring lots of karma I had 200,000 to spare myself but didn’t know at the time there’d be a vendor at the end. I took a right at the end because of linguistic logic. The word right in that context was both radically different definitions in one, right = correct and right = specific direction. If left were correct then left would be right ^_^ … I’ll stop now -_-
I had devil horns long before they want on sale (assuming they are? I can’t get in the download is going way too slow) and they’re pretty cool.
I’m having issues here too. Tried everything, doesn’t work.
If your mouse DPI is too low then you’ll turn slower too.
I told a newbie in my guild today to do the keyfarming while they can before they fix it…didn’t think it’d get fixed today Meh, surprised it took this long to fix anyway.
Sancturay: " If the keys are so badly sold you have to address the issue why"
For me the cost to reward ratio isn’t worth it. You get ticket scraps (people hate scraps of anything I remember leather straps gathering in Burning Crusade zones) sometimes and it’s mostly tonics and boosters or consumable bank expresses. Which sometimes come in handy I’ll admit, and I liked getting a couple of total makeover kits (one from a dropped key from a wolf in Blazeridge Steppes ) and a hair kit so there were some good drops but it feels too much like a gamble.
And the suggestions from https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/93290408-Problems-Downloading-or-Patching aren’t working for me.
Moisting? Ew no. But it’s not a terrible idea.
I think the way for them to sell more of these things is to actually make each one as useful as the watchwork pick. Maybe give each different type of pick a chance for a different extra resource, and bonuses for the logging axes and sickles too.
The problem there is, not all resources are created equal. Some will always be more valuable than others, making certain mining/gathering tools more popular than the rest.
Anet opened a can of worms that should never have been opened. I feel like the chance to get watchwork sprockets should be removed from the watchwork pick, and another way to obtain them should be introduced.
- And before anyone gets on my case about this, yes, I own a watchwork pick myself.
Sprockets are required for power + precision + healing power. I have a couple of pieces with this stat distribution thanks to the watchwork pick and very expensive recipes off the trading post. Sure I’m sacrificing ferocity but that’s extra bonus damage and I’m sacrificing enough survivability by not adding toughness and vitality as it is (except underwater, dragonspine totally rocks!) except with my ascended triforge.
Anet could make other materials more useful by applying them to other in demand stat combinations or a pick that gives mid-range fabrics at random. Since sprockets are functionally like gems however maybe the lava pick giving ruby orbs or whatever would be a good alternative?
I like the electro blue, pyre, and enameled jungle with this outfit, though I might switch back from jungle to pyre.
1.Exploration of the entire world.
2.Jumping puzzles
3.An underwater area that’s rich in color and nice architecture. Perhaps a quaggan civilization somewhere that wasn’t explored in either game so the main races or even quaggans from the areas we’ve explored have very little if any knowledge of it?
I recall a cat peeking from a ceiling in one of the base game betas but can’t seem to reach the area anymore
I don’t know about favorite (don’t want to spoil too much but Tylbalt says it) but I don’t like how the sylvari conversation about the sky being blue contradicts the headcanon that they can see near infrared (so not heat vision like snakes, which is far IR but radiation functionally like visible light only it isn’t visible to us).
Since plants can reflect near infrared (in other words, plants merely give off the illusion of green while they’re actually a mix between green and some other color us humans can’t even comprehend due to limitations of our vision) it’s logical to assume that sylvari vision would see it. This would make the sky appear very different to them.
Not only when I press autoattack or poison field but even when trying to rez people or screenshot! I don’t wan’t to be forced to use daggers just to guarantee I’ll rez someone and be on cooldown for 9 seconds. In Silverwaste this is a big issue because I can jump back off a pedal and in general out of a shadow refuge. I tried rebinding it from D and back but it still just automatically randomly does disabling shot!
I think we’re far more likely to see a non MMORPG companion game to go with the Guild Wars franchise than we are to see GW3.
Imagine a tactics game (similar to Final Fantasy Tactics or Disgaea) based on some of the more violent times in Tyria’s history. It could be placed in the Guild Wars themselves, or maybe in modern times with you as a Pact Commander in the battles against the Elder Dragons. Level up and improve your units, recruit rare units (ohh, a Tengu archer!), and maybe even trade rare units and equipment with other players. (PvP possible as well.)
Then, they can link it to GW2 much like they did GW1, allowing the games to unlock some items or features on each other.
Not a bad idea, although I’d ditch levels entirely because level scaling defeats the purpose of leveling to begin with.
It was only easy due to poor scaling. Scaled appropriately and the things wreck. Even the way they were I’ve seen entire groups get into downed.
Does it have to be free? If not the Sony Vegas Platinum or Suite are great. Vegas Pro is even better but with a ludicrous pricetag that only professional video editors should bother with.
I don’t think so at least in this decade. Two generations after Volta it might come out or have news about it. Either that or GW2 will receive such a huge overhaul it’ll practically be GW3. They’re using the dinosaur DirectX9 and a 32-bit client (why Anet why?) but even low end cards in the Volta generation will trivially run this game at 8k (not including bandwidth limitations from ISPs of course get a CAT 7 or 8 cable to prepare just in case)
What does this mean? While GW2 is a beautiful game in many places there’s still room for improvement especially as far as optimization goes. Your average PC gamer these days is already socking money away for Pascal (raises hand) or Arctic Island cards, and the GTX 1080 will sell out like hotcakes on the first day.
If there is a GW3 (or graphical and engine overhaul to be completely up to date) I hope they work with Nvidia, Intel, and maybe AMD to ensure for everyone an optimal experience.
Players must have way to easily compare and understand who did better job. It will motivate players.
How is this connected to raids in any way? The “motivation” you’re thinking of doesn’t exist. Yes, someone who hasn’t given their all might be motivated to do better next time. No, the same group won’t take him for the next time because he’s clearly not giving his all.
I mean not comparison between individual players, but competition between different raids (basicaly between guilds).
It does not exists in GW2. Yet.
But rememeber: competition – is the endless motivation reason.Implementation
It can be in-game diagram with black area in the beginning, where each defeat of the boss will fill 1 red-pixel, and win against stronger boss will fill several red-pixels, etc
Filling can follow from left to right or by another system (filling of the map-areas for example)
Different guilds can have little be different colors, then will be easy to see which guild made more victories and have bigger influence in to the big picture.
By mouse over will be possible to see immediately which guild achieved each specific victory and when.
I suggest to play around this idea:
- When picture will be fully filled we will achieve GREAT VICTORY and can OPEN another RAID-Tier.That’s not possible. How do you expect ANet to always have a raid tier ready, regardless of how fast the previous one has been completed? And even beyond that, what would a raid tier even mean for Guild Wars 2?
It’s just a question of balancing.
For example 1 guild can kill 1 boss once per 1 week. Number of active raiding guilds will be known very soon. So it’s easy to calculate.
Raid tier in GW2 = I mean new raid with new bosses (or new raid wing)Just skins? A skin imho is not enough motivation to defeat strong boss after 100 attepts. So better to have another high-level target too.
Skins, along with minis and tonics, have been successful motivators in content from the very beginning.
Loot motivation system is is a too boring and weak. Better to have something more real.
Also GW2 had no challenging content earlier. For no challenging content these tonics/skins are enough .
IMHO more challenging content requires much stronger motivation. The real purpose. The real target.
I can already predict a flood of tears “these bosses are too strong!” “we made already 5 attempts and still can’t defeat him”. Then they will just stop trying. It will be 90% of players. Because no strong reason to try 100 or 200 times to kill 1 boss.
Or even they will kill boss once, but will never repeat it.
I beta tested a Charr warrior in the base game and found the story quests to be quite challenging.
Hopefully raids would have cheap gimmicky mechanics and the challenge is almost as fair as PvP. A Dark Soulsesque balanced yet radically different should be brought to the table. Players have similar advantages to one another (relatively similar damage output and HP compared to PvE bosses) yet bosses have radically different advantages such as invincibility at times. By Dark Soulseque balance I mean that bosses will keep their radically different mechanics and abilities while still being a fair challenge to the player. Fractals if you haven’t studied the encounters ahead of time feel cheap and it’s hard to figure out what to do. You can get shouted at just for killing things alongside the friendly NPCs. Isn’t taking out the things with red over their name what we’re supposed to do so they won’t be trouble later?
Some mechanics may seem cheap at first but actually be fair in hindsight, like the Thaddeus raid in Wrath of the Lich King (you don’t wanna know the lore behind him, trust me) where everyone needs to cooperate and keep polarities in mind.
You kill the same boss over and over again for the same reason Ascalonian rebels and ghosts still attack human players and undead players aren’t weak to holy or get downleveled in lower level areas: gameplay and story segregation. I don’t like it either and think the trend should steer more towards integration. If a character can mechanically mow down rows and rows of monsters then cutscenes should keep that in mind and not imply that a small group of the things is an uphill battle.
I don’t think anyone here can tell you the cause. Could be an issue on your end, Anet’s end, or your ISP’s end. I’d personally put in a ticket since they’d be able to track your data and progress then. Lots of data to sift through but should be possible.
Complaining over a sale? How would you feel if there aren’t any more sales? Can’t complain about “bad” sales if there are no sales to begin with, and Anet might learn that to our detriment.
I think the point is that we didn’t use the sales. Of the GW2 players willing and able to buy items from the gem store, I’m sure a number didn’t actually buy anything because we were disappointed by what was actually on sale. I could sell a literal pile of garbage for 50% off and NOBODY WOULD BUY IT. It’s on sale, sure, but the demand isn’t there for my garbage. Now, Anet didn’t sell us garbage. They ended their sale selling us a rock, which is cool, I suppose, but they could have had everyone in my guild and most of my friends list, and even most of the people I know casually to buy the wide rimmed glasses and bunny ears for 500 gems each. Maybe there are a few other things in there.
If you want to have a sale to draw in some sales, you might want to consider buying things that people actually want. ESPECIALLY considering the fact that Anet’s PR will have to work double-time in order to make up for the disastrous Mordrem events.
Are you sure about that? What if a recycling plant wanted to reimburse you for the energy or even recycled resources the garbage would transform into?
I bought an extra bag slot the day before the slots went on sale. Oh well, such is life and don’t feel like I’m owed extra gems back. The bunny ears are great, but Anet feels they shouldn’t be released. I personally think they should due to clear demand for them, but it’s their company. Maybe a good compromise would be as a ranked PvP reward for achieving the equivalent of 2200+ Elo (to use a WoW metric).
I agree 100% that the Mordrem event was terrible. No loot, no EXP, no copper to make up for the waypoint cost. The shoulder and glove sets are nice, but requires unreasonable amounts of playing in order to obtain them.
