Yes, they’ll completely rip apart the game code and rewrite it all for a new render engine and put it out tomorrow. Does anyone comprehend the amount of money and time that would need to be invested into it? All the while keeping in mind that all of that work is going to get a very very very very very very very very very negligible income return.

I would just like to say that playing the ESO beta made me realise just how ‘spoilt’ we are with all the innate systems and features of GW2 that we just take for granted. Sure we may only be getting now a wardrobe, account bound legendaries, etc. Sure they may be calling it a ‘feature patch’, does it really matter though? We are getting things that we asked for – things they have undeniably spent a long time putting together, if that stuff doesn’t excite you, you should probably take a break from the game.

As much as I agree these are great QoL updates, they hold no water if not followed through with exciting substantial content to look forward to. If these QoL updates are followed through w/the same recipe of content we have seen since release….playing dress up & just adding new abilities for same ol’ same ol’ will only go so far.

You have the spring WvW crap for content at the moment. The next content release is likely to bring out substantial area releases (ever notice the unreachable portals in Brisban?) that will correlate with the finale of what we saw in the last cutscene of Salad’s part in the story.

World bosses are still loot pinatas, where I stand still, turn on my auto attack, check facebook, then collect my Anet™ approved 2 boxes and open the chest to find 3 blues and 4-6 silver. They could of added 1000 new world bosses and it wouldn’t matter, it’s a complete faceroll and waste of time for most people.

The new wings of those dungeon were nice, but could hardly stand on their own.

Clearly you’ve never been the the jungle wurm then. Good to know we can safely ignore this thread now.

Implying you weren’t going to dismiss it anyways.

When the premise of a point is built on an obviously wrong argument, who’s not going to dismiss the thread? Perhaps you should take a walk over to bloodtide coast and go AA the wurm for your lewt and come back to us with how it went.

Feedback: Event loot nerfed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

I Believe that this is a step back for Guild Wars 2. Dynamic events are one of the best features of this game, But lots of players do not do them for a few reasons.

1. Rewards.
Rewards are the biggest drive for players to do these events, and the current rewards do not satisfy any players. With this latest Nerf it will drive the few players that enjoy the events for the events to be drivin away, because it will now COST them to do these events. I.E. Waypiont Costs.

2.Effect on the World.
Most of the events have a very minimal to no effect on the world. with the exception of some of the chain events like World Boss Chains. Events need to have Meaing to them, be that Visually or Lore Based.

This will drive players away from World Boss Events. This change will remove most of the profit made for those that do the World Boss Trains. The Current Cash made from the event cover about 90% of the Waypoint cost if you do 75% of the world bosses. Which allows the Profit to role in from the chest and the Daily Rare Chests.

Now with the New Reward levels. You will be using your Profit margin to cover your Waypiont Cost. So Unless you are lucky and get 2+ rares per event it will not be worth your time for Gold.

Waypoint costs are pitifully low. The change to event cash and money off champ bags doesnt even affect that. I’ll still make money off champ farming.

Those of you who have played GW1 know what i’m talking about, and those of you who haven’t, wish you did: Guild Halls are not only a place to meet up and socialize, but to trade and sell with players and NPCs alike; more than that, is the beautiful architecture and the vast space, its not just a single building, but a map of your own. They could even be used to bring forth a game feature that, despite its namesake, GW2 has truly been lacking: guild wars.

Not sure what you’re talking about. LA was the big place to sell at, as was any other major cities, in GW1. Guild halls were at best a place to loiter and avoid chat trolls.

Also, guild wars as a game function is dead. It’s been subsumed by the bigger feature known as WvW. Why? because in GW1, you had a single “server” with everyone on it. Guilds were used to demarcate the large-scale pvp lines. In GW2, that is no longer the case. Your server/world functions as a macro-guild for the sake of demarcation. Guilds are essentially large and persistent parties.

There’s a troubling rumor I’ve heard: Crit damage doesn’t apply to bosses? If this is false, ignore. If it’s true, this is ridiculous.

It highly depends on the boss, and in most cases, which phase the boss is in. If the boss is classed a structure (which cant be critically hit) like Tequatl is, if you’re wearing zerker there, you’re playing more stupid than a cleric staff guard in CoF. Fighting teq, PVT gear runs supreme.
Bosses like the jungle wurm in bloodtide coast are a mixed case. Each wurm head has 2 phases. Phase one it’s a structure (and you’d want pvt for it), but when it reaches phase two, it is no longer classed as a structure (and zerker is optional because the boss still hits hard enough to down zerker pretty fast).

….because 10% damage overall includes damage dealt by non-critical strikes, thus…

I’m sorry… what? are you dense? they’re saying the decrease to crit damage results in an overall loss, not that they are reducing POWER by 10%. non-crit strikes will still be just as powerful(or not, depending on your point of view) as they were before.

Nah, the dense one is you. Damage output of a character includes ALL the damage they inflict. For an easy to follow example, we’ll use the following numbers: 1k damage flat per non-crit hit, 30% critical hit chance, 50% critical damage.

For a small statistical average, we’ll use 10 attacks. With a 30% crit rate, the statistical average is 3 hits in 10, which means 7 hits at 1k damage. Critical hits, of which there are 3, would deal 2k damage. Total damage over 10 hits? 13k damage. Average damage a hit? 1.3k per hit.

Now, lets assume again for simplicity, that the crit damage change means this character has 0% crit damage boosts after the update. Using the rest of the numbers, the critical damage now only deals 1.5k a hit. This brings the total to 11.5k in all. Average becomes 1.15k damage. A 10% loss of 1.3k is .13k, which brings it down to 1.17k, slightly higher than what the “true” measure is.

If you still dont get it: YES the non crit hits stay the same. THEIR contribution to your overall damage DOES NOT CHANGE. Critical hits, that DO CONTRIBUTE to your overall damage, are being reduced.

Also, this update only screws over builds with crit damage in them and people are relying on that crit damage. PVT doesnt change one bit, neither does any other armor without crit damage.

How will account bound items work?

I’m really interested in knowing how this change in ascended items will work. Once I get one ascended… will I be able to clone it among my characters or will I have only one item for using among all of them?

I was waiting for stat swapping in today’s update, but if this change offers a good gameplay I might return to the game too

Account bound means just that. You arent getting X copies of the item. You have one. You’ll need to physically give that item to the character you want it on.

reducing gold income from events and champion loots will not stop the farming.

Trains don’t exist for raw gold income, they exist to find that sweet loot that sells high on the TP.

So what you are really doing is hurting players who do events and explore.

You basically just increased the grind factor. Players do not change unless you completely remove the reward or gate it. Why not only allow one champ loot box per day per account per champion???? That would definitely spread the player base…

It wouldn’t, as some people already only log in to do dailies and maybe some champ farming, if they gated that, people would log in do dailies, kill 1 round of champs and log out, or hell they may just not log in at all, they haven’t gotten the rewards right since launch of this game, and im willing to bet that gold wont be the only thing removed from champ chests, watch the T6 mats disappear too.

^This. I already ONLY show up to meta bosses once a day period. Why? Because I already got the daily chest. The loot in the per-character chest is laughable at best. Blues and greens, and maybe if you’re lucky, a rare. Oh, and if lady luck and/or karma decided to kitten luck on you, you might get an exotic.

If any of you are in a large guild, you may know that karka queen’s chest had been stealth-nerfed to once an account per day. Why? because it was possible to repeatedly force overflow maps and get that chest again. Ethically questionable practices aside, that is no different than running a champ farm in FGS or weeniedale. If they do that to champs like they did to karka, they pretty much kill off ANY incentive to fight champions at all. If they want to nerf loot like karka, they need to introduce a lot more events that are on par with temple events to make up for it.

It’s only vague because of what YOU are assuming it to mean. “Removing Restrictions” clearly means they’re removing some sort of… what was the word? Oh yes, restriction. WHAT the restriction is is what players are speculation on, and some of them are fixated on things that are clearly restrictions: soulbound and account-bound restrictions. This isnt the end-all be-all of restrictions. There’s just as easily a restriction on who can obtain a legendary weapon. Perhaps entry barriers based on your home server? Like the ones that screw over multi-server guilds from benefiting members with upgrades?

The same applies to every other blog available. Just because you made the mistake of assuming it means one thing so much you get a high off it and then become clinically depressed when the truth is something else is not anet’s fault. They didnt make you think too much about what it means. They didnt make you begin to believe it was some fantastical feature you’ve always wanted in the game. And they didnt make you fall into the pothole of self-delusion about the blog. That was all you. They simply made the choice to release the title of the blog, not a synopsis of what it’s going to cover.

Tell me, who do you blame if you think you’re getting ready to go out on a date with a hot girl off a dating site and a disappointment shows up at your door? You, for hyping yourself up too much and not realizing something could be too good to be true? Or the dating site for not verifying your “date’s” appearance, age, weight, gender, hair color, whatever? Or your “date” for not living up to your overhyped assumption? Because that’s a pretty kitten accurate analogy for this situation. Because people like you are seeing a 5’10" bombshell brunette supermodel when a 4’3" introverted librarian wearing a cardigan shows up instead. Your expectation didnt match the reality, and the dating site (anet) didnt guaranteed EITHER OF THEM.

Perhaps, if anet doesn’t want people to speculate about upcoming blog posts, they shouldn’t give them promising titles, then wait 2 weeks to post all of them? What do you think was the point of all that? To get people speculating. Anet has only themselves to blame if their posts don’t live up to people’s hype.

Nice, passing off the blame to the company

If YOU speculate about something so much that YOU get hyped up and YOU get disappointed when the truth didnt live up to YOUR hyped up expectations, who’s fault is it? If you missed the hints, it’s yours.

It’s basic psychology. People see whatever the hell they want to see. Take the “Solid Foundation” blog for example. Some people (and highly unrealistically) see it as an announcement for player/guild housing. Yes, because anet can suddenly fit 500 people onto a single map. Some people think it’s to deal with the pre-game of guild wars, the levels where you learn your character, and how to best use them the way you want. Much more reasonable than player housing. Hell, I see it as the announcement to the total overhaul of the guild system so that cross-server and multi-server guilds now have the same benefits (aka upgrades) that single-server guilds can have.

That’s one future discussion, 3 different people (at minimum) with 3 different ideas (at minimum) on what it’s going to be about. All of them could be right, a couple of them, or NONE of them could be correct. It’s our own fault if we get so hyped up over our own delusions that the actuality doesnt meet our expectations.

edit: Quite whining about it not being a “Feature Pack.” We still have over 2 weeks until it’s released, and have no idea what else it’s going to include.

Solid Foundation = Housing?

It won’t be housing. Period.

^

Anyone else think it’s a revamp of the guild system or is it just me? I mean, it’s a pretty poor system right now. For anyone that’s seen them, TTS, the guild combine I’m in, manages 12 different guilds spread across every single NA server. This means as a whole, there’s 240 or so different pools of influence due to each guild being split into “chapters” based on where it’s members are.
Basically this system is saying that if you’re a big guild, you’re losing everything that helps define a guild’s ability to benefit players aside from the ability to talk to others in the guild.

Sorry, rambling. Anyways, a “solid foundation” could easily talk about the rebuilding of anything in the game.

Aidan Savage.2078

So let’s see… the logic behind reducing the event money was in part the removal of repair costs and the cost to re-trait. Let’s take a look at those costs for a second.
*Retraiting: Costs 3s50c at level 80. Amount of times it’s used? Once a year to once a few days depending on the player. Effort to regain cost of service? Sell a handful of blues or a couple greens to an npc merchant (or TP if they’re valuable enough). Time to get said items? As little as 2 minutes.

*Armor repair: Costs 1s64c per damaged piece at level 80. I dont have the time or patience to see what broken armor costs. Since there’s 7 pieces of armor you can wear (backpiece), this comes out to 11s48c for a full set of damaged armor. This cost, just like that of retraiting, is beyond negligible.

Lowering the reward from events is a stupid move. If they wanted to increase the amount of gold taken out of the economy, at a 0.5% increase to trade post fees, increase waypoint costs based on distance, lower npc values by a fraction for selling items, STOP LETTING MOBS DROP JUNK ITEMS. The list is endless.

I mean, let’s face it, if I went to ANY event with a large number of mob spawns, I can easily reach 1-2g off the random low grade crap that drops, and with luck on the excessively high side, I can be dropping exotics worth 2-8g alone. This isnt even touching on the money I can make SALVAGING rare quality and lower items.

Oh, and I rarely see enough money from the event itself to warrant caring about. So why reduce something that is already pitiful enough most players dont even give them a second glance?

No cost to repair armor does not equate the notion of “armor no longer breaks.” Instead of it costing 1-3s to repair a piece of armor, it now costs ZERO. IRCs arent being removed because one of their most common uses are fractals where there are NO repair stops.

I think you forgot that Anet sold the rights to publish in China to Kongzhong (Or whatever the name of the company is). Means Anet doesnt make any money from their diamond sellings there.

Part of the issue is that gaming in different countries have different rules (and almost always national laws) to go by. One fun mmo that I drifted away opened up servers for Japan last year, but instead of being a monthly subscription model for those servers like it is for all the other regions, they’re forced into a f2p+cash shop model for that specific region.

And usually those rules/laws dictate that it has to be an “in-house” company that acts as the frontman for the game. That’s how the game can be drastically different when you compare 2 regions.

Meanwhile, I’ll keep wearing PVT in large-scale pve content where 90% of the time zerker is absolute kitten.

Oh, and has ANYONE even mentioned the fact that they’re changing weapon sigils, on top of the fact that a lot of classes have plenty of on-crit traits? An elementalist for example, after this update in particular, is going to be capable of, on a crit, stealing health (potentially in an aoe, never really tested/paid attention), burning (in an aoe), blinding (possibly in an aoe, not enough info on the new GM trait), bursting a flame sigil (aoe fire blast for more damage), and probably inflicting more damage with either on-crit aoes or on-crit conditions (aoe torment anyone?) in the second sigil.

Sure, they can nerf crit damage, but I seriously doubt anyone’s going for assassin’s gear strictly for the damage bonus with crit damage. They’re more likely going for the near/above 100% critical chance for other procs.

Renewed Focus Cancelled by Weapon Swap

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Aidan Savage.2078

Aidan Savage.2078

Channel skills are interrupted if you move, swap weapons, get pulled/knocked back, or a control effect, and for some, if you activate another skill too soon.
The problem with renewed focus is that you’re invulnerable DURING the channeling. That’s why this skill goes on full cooldown regardless. Too easily abused otherwise. Imagine guardians soloing even more bosses because they can channel renewed focus when a boss starts a big attack animation, and weapon swap to cancel the channel, and get renewed focus again in 3-4 seconds or whatever it is?
Easiest solution is to make the guardian invulnerable for 2 seconds AFTER it’s channeled, but that kinda defeats the point of the skill.

Ectoplasm drop rate from salvaging rares

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Aidan Savage.2078

Aidan Savage.2078

Not a bug. Keep in mind “rarer materials” also includes n+1 tier materials, not just ectos. Salvaging level 80 rares means you have a chance at ori and ancient wood as well. Now, I’m not sure it’s been figured out 100% how salvaging chances work, but it’s probably the same as it does with loot; 25% means you’ve got a 1 in 4 chance of ‘rolling’ into the rarer materials category. Whether you get 1, 2, or 3 ectos is another story entirely. It also doesnt mean “salvage 4 rares, guaranteed a rare.”

Also, the conspiracy theory is pretty funny. Especially since, IF true, is still RNG. How else are the accounts chosen? Besides, find proof of it. For all we know, the people reporting crap salvaging success might be using low quality salvage kits and not admitting to it.

the moment they removed the GW1 LA fountain is the moment they removed the last part of GW1, GW2 is now officially unrelated to GW1.

So… the Norn, Asura, Humans, Charr, every single location in the game, even some of the enemies, that are the exact same as they were in GW1, dont relate the two games?

People forget that there’s been something like 2-3 centuries that pass between the timepoints the games take place in. The GW2 LA was already nearly unrelated to the GW1 LA when it was drowned by the raising of Orr.

Just because you’ve not received a personalized response from the owner and/or creator of gw2 doesnt mean it’s going to go unnoticed. Sarcasm aside, do you have auto-targeting and skill promotion on or off in options? Second, do you move the camera around using WASD, left mouse button, or right mouse button? More info helps than less info. Also, have you tried it without actually attacking anything and/or a temporary reset of traits?

edit: Did you try it with the other targeting options as well? It might simply be an issue with fast cast.

Renewed Focus Cancelled by Weapon Swap

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Aidan Savage.2078

Aidan Savage.2078

It’s not a bug for Renewed Focus to go on full cooldown in a case like that. If it didn’t, then you could activate it to get invulnerability, dodge or weapon swap before the animation finishes, and then be able to use it again in 3.5 seconds for more invulnerability, and so on.

Because of the skill’s nature, how it gives invulnerability during its casting, it needs to go on full cooldown if it’s interrupted or cancelled.

thats fine and i agree….but its still a bug bc it should renew f1 f2 f3 regardless if you finish. if it goes on full cooldown it should have worked. simple.

The virtue recharge ONLY happens if the skill is fully channeled. That means 2 seconds after you use it. Not 1 second when you swap weapons, not even 1.99 second, 2 seconds. If it gets interrupted, it goes on CD and you dont get the recharge.

For starters, you dont really need resolution to be anything other than Native unless you’re looking for super-smooth edges. A LOT of the graphic options you can turn down to minimum and not impact character limits (which is the last 2 graphic options) while gaining a massive performance increase.

Need advice on a new GPU

Aidan Savage.2078

I run an I5-4670K, with 8 gigs of ram and a GTX 570. I don’t have any issues like you’re describing, and my settings are in the high area.

The 4670k is around 15-20% faster than your sandy 2500K, but I was running the same CPU before I upgraded, and had no real issues then, either (I was also running a GTX 460 that died and EVGA RMA’d the 570 to me in it’s place).

I wasn’t getting 40 fps in a zerg, but I could see all the name plates and it was playable.

You might try making sure all your drivers are up to date, and make sure your system is running the way it should (as well as stopping any programs from running that you aren’t using and that your system doesn’t need, i.e. bloatware, apps etc).

Also make sure you aren’t having heat issues with your CPU in case it’s throttling back for that reason.

If you do end up spending cash on a new GPU, you can get a GTX 760 for that price.

My settings:

Mildly offtopic, but may I ask what monitor you use and the resolution on it? I’m looking around for an upgrade of my current monitors, which are, and some people will laugh at this, 19" CRT monitors that are about 7 years old. Most of the monitors I’ve looked at have worse resolution than they do since I’m looking at the lower price range.

Which GPU to max GW2 at 1080p resolution?

That’s also because the higher your graphics, the LOWER your performance. If your game was set to everything on max before, and you did a hardware upgrade, you’d see an improvement on the SAME settings. If you got a 10% increase in performance with the upgrade, but you increased the graphical settings, you probably just lost that 10% increase.

Honestly, I wouldnt even use super-sampling unless you’re running a monitor that is well below the max of your card (1280×1024 vs 1900×1600 and larger).

But some people are reporting getting it? Hopefully I can get into a map that can kill them within 5 mins then, just to try my luck. (Should be much easier now that the Knight’s health is lower.)

Yes it’s easier to kill the knights, no the achievement isnt fixed. Anet needs to stop thinking that changes to health and armor on bosses equates fixing the issue. This is the same thing they did to teq to “fix” his bug. My guardian used to deal 15-17k with whirling wrath in a burn phase fully stacked, but now she’s dealing roughly 9-10k with the same buffs.

Anyways, I doubt the bug is going to be fixed by next week.

So…what’s the bug? Rare and exotic recipes are typically bought from the master craft npcs. Others you have to obtain via drops or salvage.

Repair your guild wars dat file. I just tested it with my elementalist and it has no issues working underwater. Make sure you’re looking in the combat chat tab as well.

Triple Trouble Meta Seemingly Bugged

Siobhan
If you think my most recent post was blunt, this was toned down considerably from what wanted to post!

This situation with the Wurm meta tracker is just one many indicating to me that Anet has no interest in maintaining customer satisfaction with it’s product, and no intention of supporting the permanent content in this game. It is all about producing gem shop items they think we want to buy, and this terrible 16 month long string of LS temporary content.

Having said that, I am in a EU cross-server guild that still does successful Wurm events on a daily basis. We have around 25 successful Wurm events done, some done with as few as 115 players. The problems with the meta tracker is not preventing us from doing the event, it is just one more annoyance of many with this particular event.

Honestly, the achievement being bugged seems more of a QoL issue than an actual “game breaking” bug. Unless someone’s waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too enthusiastic about a title that has no benefit, or really needs those 50 AP because it’s their last incomplete achievement, pushing out a fix for it isnt really a priority. A lot of people dont realize there’s far bigger problems with wurm like the reward vs effort compared to a boss like Tequatl. Plus I dont even see what the meta achievement has to do with dropping wurmslayer armor, as that’s likely a rare chance in the final chest.

Now, the complaint about having to guest to other servers, have you tried leading it yourself? Not to mention there are extremely large guilds that roam servers and organize events. Take advantage of google or yahoo to find such guilds, get an invite or ask to join the raid, etc, voila, you can do wurm.

A way to bulk use stack of items?

Anet cannot have an issue with players using the Ease of Access tools in windows. If they do, it opens up to discrimination problems. Besides, there’s a legitimate health reason to reduce such repetitive actions, especially if you’ve had CTS before. The only alternative Anet has is adding a recipe to say, chef, that consolidates the karma potions the same way artificer can consolidate essence of luck.

Not necessarily a problem with the hard drive, though it can contribute. I’d pay even money that those of you having problems are running win7. I had the same problems, despite my win8 laptop downloading it fine, and currently running it off an emergency backup drive (aka old and tiny laptop drive) that runs winxp. NEITHER of them had significant issues downloading the update. Win7 would stall out at 20mb, 60mb, 100mb, etc etc. I reboot of the smaller drive? 1.6MB/s for the entire 18GB file.

Here’s the big kicker to it being a win7 issue: complete failure to copy the dat file off an external hard drive due to stall within 30 seconds, and failure to copy the dat file from this laptop over the network using homegroup access (before an anet staff comes and says “do blablabla,” this attempted BOTH PUSH AND PULL copies), which failed after 10 hours and only reaching 45% of the file on the best attempt.

I know anet likes using a dat file because it “hides” all the resources used by guild wars, but for christs sake, it’s a bad design because it gets treated as a single file for every system operation windows does. Plus it’s not like it really stops anything if someone seriously wants to mod the game.

The first thing I’m going to ask, and if Ashley’s still watching the thread, pay attention please, is what OS are you running? If it is windows 7, that alone will cause serious issues. For whatever god forsaken reason MS used, win7 is absolute kitten at dealing with large files, regardless where they came from. If you have the ability to, the first thing I’d suggest is upgrading to win8 or downgrading to winxp. (same if you’re on vista /vomit)

Now if you’re not running 7 or vista, then it is your network. Open a command prompt (winkey->search/run-> cmd) and type in ipconfig and hit enter. You should see a bunch of information come up. Find the line that says “Default Gateway. . . . . . . . . . bunchofnumbers.” Take that number and enter it into firefox/chrome/whatever exactly as you see it. This will bring you to the router’s interface software. Beyond this point I cannot help you without a screenshot of that page you see.

Keep in mind that this is going to be rather slow using the forums, so think of it as building a “howto” picturebook as we go along xD

(a quicker alternative would be RDP, remote desktop protocol, but that involves a lot of trust as you’re essentially handing access and control to whoever’s on the other end)

I’d recommend changing the email the account is attached to. As it is, you’re going to be validating twice from a new location regardless. The first one is always going to fail as invalid because you’re accessing your email from the same location you’re attempting to log in from. It’s a minor hassle for mobile players, thwarts attempted account theft, and does nothing against account theft if they have access to your email. Just something players will have to accept imo.

There is 150 in one stack and 91 in another and they won’t group together. Is this a bug?

Split both stacks and then try to group them. Usually that fixes it.

Edit for post above mine: I’d like to try joining those groups that say “experienced only” because it’s a good way to learn the RIGHT way of doing the dungeon, but a lot of those groups are merely after fast loot, not necessarily teaching one or two “fresh” players how to run the dungeon.

Dungeon mentor guild. Just saying.

Joining a purpose-oriented guild is usually pointless. Too many ways they go bad. With the LFG system, I can actually find people doing the dungeon at the time I want with no risk of the run not getting started because someone has to leave.

The problem is why all ISPs from all over the world started to throttle our gaming traffic only while playing GW2?

Short answer: they don’t.

The reason, and I’m going to paraphrase here, “why all ISPs from all over the world” dont throttle is because you’re making a sweeping generalization. The ISP I’m on doesnt throttle any of my gaming, or ANY of my internet usage for that matter, and I’m a prolific gamer and streamer. And relatively speaking, it’s not hard at all to throttle specific games as an ISP either. EVERYTHING sent to and from the GW2 servers (and everywhere else for that matter) has sender/destination information that is openly readable. Not hard to filter and throttle traffic going to and from a given destination.

I wont pull out a “It’s Magic~” meme, but just consider rebooting a computer as doing the same thing sleep does for your own body.

Reboots and Cache clears (usually stuff in AppData) are the two simplest fixes for 99% of the problems people have with computers. It’s hard to say exactly why the reboot works aside from the fact that it’s completely purging your RAM.

Tequatl Bug

A fix is obviously ideal, but, as I mentioned in my earlier post, it would be very nice to know if this might be considered an exploit in the meantime. I don’t understand Anet’s reticence to comment on at least that aspect of the problem.

Logically speaking, since Teq doesnt start the fight bugged at all, there’s no issue of exploitation when you start. The issue of possible exploitation is if you burn Teq from the 75% or 50% battery phase to the 50% or 25% battery phase so fast he has no chance to “shake off” the stun and send out the shockwaves again. When that happens, Teq BECOMES bugged, it’s at this point you can now be considered exploiting the bug. As a result you’ve got a player’s responsibility (wont use ‘obligation’ since some players take offense to the idea behind it) to consider the run a failure and leave the event radius.
Now, people that dont leave and continue hitting Teq, it’s a crapshoot for them because of several things. It’s really is hard to tell if teq was bugged to avoid battery phases, or just burned that hard at once. Additionally, anet may consider you exploiting if you simply stay in the area, keep hitting Teq (even if the event ultimately fails), or successfully beat Teq while he’s bugged.

Avoiding the bug is fairly simple though, dont drop conjured weapons (eles) until the last burn, and dont use consumables (ogre whistle, mortar kit, etc), until the last phase.
