Monocle armor weights and the wardrobe?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Because the monocle was a armor drop much like the weapons in the 80 TA aether path. All of these other items were either skin consumables or tied to the event in a particular manner eg: meta completion.

The air-filtration device was a drop from the tri-key chest. Which was a piece of armor, not a skin afaik.

Yes, I had only ever managed to loot the Light Armor one, but I now have it on my Ranger. So, all of them unlocked. I think the Monocle is an oversight.

The air-filtration device was also an account bound skin Consumable on aquire, I had 3. Used 1 to unlock for wardrobe via pvp and still have 2. This version unlocked for all 3 armor weights. This version cannot be sold.

The monocle was only ever an armor.

^ What Hannelore said. The only unique items are the personal story starter items like the necro wraith mask.

EDIT I was wrong. There are unique pieces of armor in personal story that could only be gained through personal story or spvp. Not certain about weapons.

Game Updates: Wardrobe, Transmutation, Outfits

Akari Storm.6809

Biggest problems I see is kind of what everyone else is throwing out there.
Runes/Sigils being stuck in WvW/Karma gear.
Town Clothes becoming tonics that can’t be dyed.
Other Town Clothes becoming outfits that can no longer be mismatched.

Suggestions:

Rune/Sigil-
1. Allow WvW/Karma gear to be salvaged or
2. Add a function to one of the existing Npc’s that does it for us for specifically this purpose.

Town Clothes Tonics-
1. Turn existing town clothes tonics into Racial Armor Tier 0 with no level req. The set will not be weighted or have 3 weight versions and have only 3 pieces. Legs/Chest/Feet. Can be dyed once again.

At the very least can act as an item that has every weight per race like the achievement skins/grenths hood/magnus eye patch/monocle even/ several helms and gloves.

Town Clothes Outfits-
1. Make the outfits chest and legs only. Return the freedom of swapping helm/gloves/boots to the way it was complete with the ability to dye what we could before.

The way it is now suggest that you, Anet, will make further versions of the town clothes thing. If you think we didn’t like the system before, what makes you think we will like this one that is even more of an hindrance?

Honestly, imho…continue with just making skins. Don’t make anymore outfits or bring in anymore “Town Clothes” tonics. Kill that system. Players like to customize without as little pigeon holes as possible.

Transmuted Names REDO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

It’s funny cause the names that you see (aside from the bugged ones and they’re obvious) are the actual skin names. There’s like 30 different names for Iron Sword, exact same skin but each karma vendor has it’s own name for it. Same with armors. Get used to it, if your preferred skin name isn’t in the wardrobe name list, you’re going to get what the wardrobe says it’s called.

Maybe I’m interpreting your post wrongly. We’re bothered by the items we transmuted to get the name and look of an item, with the stats of another. With the patch, it takes the base stats item name, and the look of the other.

For instance, Wings of Dwayna. The default stats are:
+179 Healing Power
+128 Power
+128 Toughness
Superior Sigil of Life

Not [many] people are going to use that stat setup, so some may transmute to a berserker weapon for instance. Before the patch (this is my case-not generalizing), it was called Wings of Dwayna with the stats of a Molten Longbow. Now, it’s called Molten Longbow, with the look of Wings of Dwayna. It’s pretty much the same thing, in a technical sense. But the name is something we want to be able to choose. We basically want to flip the name of the item, and the one after the Transmuted line.

Bingo! (I had the same experience with Mad King’s Memoirs)

Mad King’s Memoirs, forget which is which by name, but the flaming one also lost it’s note.

So let me get this straight, folks are applauding the fact that there isn’t a train anymore?

Hmm, champs go from worthless to players actually wanting to kill them back to “no one is going to be hunting these things”.

Champion mobs with long spawn timers just equates to another forgettable mob that no one wants to wait around for and kill. Make any of them vets/elites and they will never get killed.

This game really is all over the place. I am highly confused on what anet wants this game to be. I would like to know how Anet sees the player base playing their game. Because I see a mess here. Think I’m going to go play Marvel Heroes or Diablo or something. Maybe fire up WoW after being gone for 5yrs. Every other game seems to know who they are, even Guild Wars seemed to know what it was. This game is beginning to be one of those things I am ashamed to talk about.

Is this once daily per character or per account? Either way it’s MDUB as KUFC. Plain and simple for dungeons.

Why? You just removed any incentive to play repeatable content. Who does that?

NO OTHER GAME ON THE MARKET REMOVES THE ABILITY TO GET CHEST WHEN DOING THE CONTENT SYNONYMOUS WITH THEM, DUNGEONS BRO!

So, let’s see…DR on gold, DR on tokens and now DR on chest.

What’s next? DR on paths allowed per day? EG; You may only do 2 paths per day for any types of rewards.

I’ll say it over and over again. Be practical. I see Anet tags all the time, but they don’t seem to play the same game we are.

I hope this game keeps the success it claims to have, but I can’t defend this kitten anymore. Megaservers are a joke, townclothes tonics are a joke, world boss timers are a joke, 1 transmutation per zone completion is a joke…removing 8v8 hotjoin in spvp is a joke.

If it’s about the work that went into legendaries, I’d argue that there are a few exotic skins that can take the same amount of time to craft.

Point is, you crafted it or more less likely, bought it, live with it. Nothing about having that item is changing. It’s not like gem store services where there is a hard policy regarding what you can and can’t get refunds for when the game is changing the entire makeup of those services.

We Need Transmutation Charges for sPvP??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

I personally don’t care about having to now spend charges to change looks. My only problem is now I have to spend charges just to get back to looks I already had for more than 46 charges can provide. Armor and Weapons.

If you prefer you can use up bank space and just transmute different armor sets like you could in PvE before. So you can transmute a look once, and then simply replace that armor when you want a new look. That way you didn’t waste your old transmute and can go back to it when you want. Only downside is that if you do this a lot you lose storage space to the copious amounts of armor you accumulate.

Plus we should see how frequently charges are awarded just by playing pvp, because it seems to be rather frequently. Who know, just by playing you may be able to switch as much as you want

Why quote me? Your post has almost nothing to do with mine. I’m not worried at all about having to transmute skins in the future.

All I am worried about is getting all of my characters back to looks they already had. If I was wearing the armor already for months, why am I being charged again? I’m rank 46, I get sponsored 46 charges. That may only cover 7 characters, not counting weapons.

I like this because you earned the rank, why not show it off to comrades?

EDIT just dawned on me that the legend icon is what looks like a snowflake. “Special Snowflake” anyone, perfect.

@Umut, personally I think there are too many intangibles in WvW to warrant leaderboards on a player basis. There are those that do things that can’t necessarily be tracked . Scouting for instance. There are plenty of players who sit in structures or follow opposing zergs/groups just to be that alarm bell.

Just FYI.

I think I read this aswell.

That’s good but still… Even though you can get back the skin you used in PvP since it will be in your wardrobe those who played only PvP will have to use transmugation charges to get their looks back.
Again I am not affected by this and I also gonna add that I dunno actually what is going to happen with the PvP cosmetics you use when the patch goes live but I have seen the complaints so I had an idea for it.

You get 1 Trans. Stone per pvp rank so that part isn’t all that much of a problem.

It is a problem for me. Each of my characters have particular looks in spvp right now. I’m only rank 46. 46 charges is not going to cover the armor/weapon skins for my 12+characters just to get back to looks I already had for them.

[Poll] Cultural armor and availability

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

I am not opposed to releasing the restrictions cultural armor currently have. I wouldn’t mind a reason behind it either, something like a rep building track.

As far as the restriction goes, I don’t even want weight restrictions, so of course I want more options when “skinning” my characters.

Armor isn’t what makes me feel like I’m playing that race, simply walking around as said race does. Cultural armor isn’t the only armor in the game. Am I supposed to be less Norn because I’m in Ascalonian armor or Whisper’s of Secrets armor (of which I may or may not be a whispers agent) when standing next to a Norn in T3?

Cultural Weapons don’t have the same restrictions, why must the armor? I’m thinking it probably had more to do with issues on the technical side than for lore reasons. Things probably weren’t complete for each item per race.

The only restrictions I’m for are having particular skins bound to certain content like the fractal weapon skins and dungeon armor. I’d take wvw only skins and will take spvp only skins which has been a long time coming.

AP, a real measurement of player ability?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

AP to me doesn’t indicate skill and certainly doesn’t indicate dungeon experience. To me, it indicates a particular account having particular goals on a checklist so to speak and being able to accomplish those goals at least once.

I mostly stay away from groups that have any requirement, let alone an ap check. Fractals I’ve done on guard when group specifically asked for one, same goes for AC and my ele.

Game is too casual for me in so many respects that I would rather just take my time with everything I do. No pressure. I’ve chosen to play this game in a relaxed manner.

Currently sitting above 17k ap. That doesn’t mean I can react better in fights than someone who has 3k ap.

Honestly, when it comes to dungeons, I purposely treat them all as if I were playing them the first time and never really show my experience in them unless it starts falling apart which is rare enough. That’s when I will step up so to speak and offer suggestions. Pve to me has never been about min/maxing and being super organized. To me it’s about doing things together with other players. Some fights need organization ofc, but not to the point of exclusion because of inexperience. My view anyway.

Akari Storm.6809

There have been SO MANY THREADS ON THIS – the Name Guild Wars comes from the lore and history, not that there are Guild Wars NOW.

That’s true – but – there’s a bit more. GW had GvG, it’s easy to assume GW2 would have it too, or would have it later.

But the main thing is the name. Before you get back on that lore horse, consider that it’s a name for a franchise that was chosen by ArenaNet. Why? To inspire thoughts in the public about GvG and Guild competition. Lore on one hand, sure, but it isn’t called Guild Wars just for that.

Because the Guilds were important in the history of Tyria and it was close to 100 yrs of Guild Wars going on. It shaped how Tyria developed.

I honestly wonder what came first, the idea behind the mechanics of the game, or the idea of the Lore of the name? "Come over here Mechanics!, meet Lore…..oh, I would also like to introduce you two to, um yeah, what was your name again? " " My name is Shoe horned".

If I recall correctly, it was for this reason (or partly this reason) that the thief sword skill 3 was changed. The return now takes a full 1/2 second to cast, where it used to be instantaneous. One of the reasons cited by Karl (maybe it was Roy) during the live stream where they talked about these changes was being able to pop in, initiate a stomp and pop back out with 0 risk to the stomper. They wanted to change that; I would not be surprised if we saw tweaks to other such skills in regards to stomps in the future.

Sword 2 is the shadow step. I kind of recall the purpose being the way sword 2 actually acts when stomping, the skill itself does all the work once a stomp began.

“Shadow step” is different in that the player has to do all the work in targeting a destination, spend the longer cd, not to mention just having the skill on your bar.

No different than other classes spending utility slots and then using those slots when stomping. Stability, aegis, mistform, elixir s all pretty much do the same thing. Far more thieves blind stomp imo. One thing to consider, all of these forms are pretty much guaranteed unless you are helped by team members. Sure you may mist/vanish/teleport in some cases, but that just delays the inevitable.

[Suggestion] armor class altering traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

Since getting my hands on this game, I think one of my top 5 wants have been to release the connection between stats of armor weights and looks of armor weights.

It would only further the level of customization imo.

The two largest opposing positions to this in other threads even hinting at this have been something along the lines of:

“It’s immersion breaking to see plate wearers running around in robes”, or “In pvp I look at what a person is wearing to tell me what class I’m fighting”.

The latter version is pretty laughable to me. The former, well, apparently we didn’t both play GW after they had the cover me elmo costumes. My ele til this day is sitting in PRE Searing Ascalon wearing

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Grenth's_Regalia

Armor is the last thing I look for when pvping. Gaining target, skill animations, weapons sets and pets all tell me more about what I’m facing than that of armor. As far as immersion goes, I personally am more concerned about my own characters choices than what others do. They are far more immersion breakers in the game already than to be concerned about what another player is wearing.

As far as having traits be connected to what armor type I would wear, I dunno. Does seem a bit arbitrary just to get a different look, especially going so deep in a line just to make it happen.

Personally, what I would want is an armor shell column that had your stats (doesn’t have a look at all) and a wardrobe column that had the actual skins you would wear.
Either that or two additional ways of getting that armor bonus:

1. remove armor bonus and add a new slot to gear, light/med/heavy. Have it be something like the worthless crest/marks/talismans/seals and medallions we have now.
Heavy can only equip heavy, so on and so forth.

2. Build the armor bonus directly into each profession to reflect the level+quality of gear you are wearing.

By the way, this is the look my ELE has for pve in gw1

Hair Streaks!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

No! Breaks immersion, no point at all since we have total make over kit and waypoints , no tyrian history of hair streaks. Hair streaks are extinct, just another gold sink, anti-fun and bad mechanics, clipping issues, too much resources, dumb, sounds like every other mmo, GW2 is not every other mmo, pay to win, overpowered, I’ll quit if they do that.

Lol, funny.

@ OP, great idea. I actually wish more games here in the west would take the route of kicking it up several notches in the realm of character creation.

I recently took a look at some vids of the character creator in this upcoming game called Black Desert and was kind of blown away with some of the things you will be able to do. I’m talking hair alteration like position/ length and making some parts curly or straight. Even more options when it comes to the body. You can even give yours eyes two different effects/colors eg; one eye is blue with some shape in it like a star pupil and the other eye is purple with no shaped pupil, or create a tattoo and place it anywhere on the body in a variety of sizes.

I’m all for focusing on content and what not, but if games like Saints Row can do more than what we can do in actual MMOrpgs, where it seems to me to make the most sense to have these options, then I don’t see why developers step their game up. I know I would appreciate it.

15-20 Legendary Armors?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

If Legendary armor made it’s way into the game, I think a sensible route to take is have one per class but obviously built with Charr in mind at the forefront. Please none of that stretched out visuals we see now that makes many armors look odd on them (specifically boots and leggings).

As far as what I would like their effects to be…hmm, that’s a tough one. Auras are always nice. Wouldn’t mind tracers (picturing Zhylaw with his soul speed from the Chronicles of Ridkitten).

You could even toss in a buff that has racial visuals connected to an emote. /legend would activate a 5min buff that gave you the ghostly tracers.

Not sure I would want them to have selectable stats like the weapons and certainly wouldn’t want them to cost thousands of gold. Would much rather have some extraordinarily long epic “Legendary” quest per piece that gave you at least half of the components needed to forge them. Could build an expansion around it for all I care.

I actually don’t see anything in the realm of armors happening anytime soon though.

Transmutation Charges and PvP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

What I’m wondering is if pvper’s are going to have to spend charges to get back to the looks they already have?

Right now, you essentially have two looks, (a third if you count town clothes). Say you are rank 40 in the mist. That’s 40 charges. Say you have 8 characters that pvp. No way is 40charges going to cover armor and weapons to get back to the looks you are currently wearing in spvp.

If I were the decision maker here, I would at least give a charge to per item that wasn’t starter being worn.

or Go the other route and just give up 8-10 charges per toon if your account is over a certain rank.

I personally don’t mind however they go about this as I pve and pvp, but I know that if I put together looks on each of my upteen toons in the mist, others may have too who don’t pve at all. Doesn’t really seem right to me I guess.

Has it been said at all which gear you will actually be wearing that first time in the mist? I’m assuming you will be wearing your pve look, eh….I need to get more info on this.

Are you an Anet rep? There seems to be a lot of presumption and opinion in this statement.

By the way, as someone already pointed out….there is already one mount+ several forms of pseudo mounts in the game.

1. The broom as an actual riding device.
2. Golems.
3. Siege devourers in Eotm.
4. Tonic transformations.

1’s only difference from other games is that it gives no speed enhancement.
2-4 with a tweak here and there could/would be no different than mounts in any other game.

[Suggestion] Mounts?

Akari Storm.6809

Personally, I’ve always liked mounts in these games. I’m a collector of sorts in most MMO’s. Well, except this one. Maybe now I can with the wardrobe system.

Anyway, immersion breaking is kind of funny to me when talking about MMO’s and even video games in general. Specifically because mechanics of a game’s build show themselves more often than not. Sure I get lost in the moment and lose time here and there by being immersed in what I’m doing, but I have no delusions of what these games actually are.

Even if I were an in character RP’er, I think I would still have to abide by the mechanics of the game. Don’t think that is any different for out of video game RP’ers. You may tell yourself “in character” that the oncoming car can be controlled via some ability you have in game, but if you stand in the street and the driver doesn’t see you….you will pay the ultimate price. Can’t disregard what things actually are vs spin.

I’m going to go ahead and say that for me, the waypoint system makes me care about the world a lot less. Just doesn’t feel like a lot of weight in that category when comparing it to other MMO’s. Kind of a double edged sword I guess. Convenience is a plus at the sacrifice of making the hard choice for today’s adventure.

I honestly would have taken player summoning accompanied with mounts in any implementation over the millions of waypoints that kind of seem to be every hundred yards.

Eh, we all want what we want. Some of us don’t get what we want, doesn’t mean we want it any less.

Have lived playing this game, this long, without mounts. Don’t need, but wouldn’t be against them either.

You got it backwards… Stones (yellow ones), are 3 of them are one charge.

A crystal (silver blue) is worth 1 charge. Crystals are the lv 80 ones.

Not sure what will happen to splitters though.

I really now believe GW 2 got too big for Anet to handle, so they are shooting themselves in the foot with each new update. They released the game far too early. They made so many logistical and developmental errors, it will take another two years to fix them all.

Stone= 1/3 charge.
Crystal= 1 charge.
Splitter (thanks Garambola) = 5 charges (odd).

obviously I meant to say stones when referring to items under level 80.

If so, someone called it.

Personally I feel very good about the majority things happening.

Not certain I agree with transmutation crystals converting from 3 to 1 under 79. Say you have 300 cyrstals. You can transmute 300 items, but after patch you will only be able to transmute 100.

Not big on the whole mega server thing. Specifically the world boss aspect of it to include ORR chains. Secondly the contested wp portion of it to include the 3 dungeons COF/COE/Arah.

Equally not big on the town clothes thing either. Pretty much agree with the sentiment of each of the threads up. A lot of good with equal parts bad.

I have say, not seen too many games that blatantly puts things out there that the player base doesn’t want instead of working on making things that they ask for.

I’m starting get to confused on what this game is supposed to be.

Being able to choose your map instance would solve a lot of problems. Basically this concept from GW1 meant that each map would have multiple channels or instances of that map that players could choose from and the list would grow or shrink depending on how many people are there. Just something to consider since this concept worked for GW1 for its lifetime and in my opinion would be a welcome concept to see again here in GW2.

This. “Districts” is all I have to say on this matter. I would even propose the building in of district information into the UI so that you could see if dungeons were open (COF/COE/Arah), or World Bosses were up in a particular district.

Switching weapons out of combat

Yeah, in GW’s, the only thing you couldn’t do while in an active map where combat took place was change builds/skills. You could actually swap weapons at will.

I wouldn’t mind having some out of combat set up’s here so I wouldn’t have to open my bags every time. Even just one would be great.

I mainly use what we have currently to use speed boost skills for down time. I will make my inventory box small as possible but leave it open. I will then put the weapon I only use for swiftness in the very corner and unequip it/replace with my desired weapon when approaching combat situations.

An actual 3rd swap out of combat would eliminate that hassle. Only real problem I see is something that could happen now, getting caught with your pants down in a set that you don’t want.

[Suggestion] Glowing mask, DYABLE

I think I remember reading somewhere that the reason the cof armor had one flame color and couldn’t be dyed was due to wanting the keep the look uniform and inline with the spirit of the dungeon.

I haven’t met one person who thought that it was a good idea to do that. Others were even more dumbfounded once finding out at one time you could actually dye the flame portions. And for those who actually were able to dye them in the beta, well…they tend to say the option to dye being taken away is just stupid.

I personally think that everything should be able to be dyed. Why? It sponsors individuality imo. Everyone doesn’t like the same things and I suspect that includes colors.

I also think that this won’t happen. Why? well, for this skin, “Glowing Mask”, anet could probably make some cash for releasing different colors like another poster said. Only way I don’t think that happens is if this company decides to be nice to it’s players.

As far as the cof armor goes………….LOOK, it’s been over a year heading into two. Allow us the get the version you had in Beta. Allow us to dye it. Don’t think anyone would be against it (and I hate speaking for others).

I have a question, I’ve had a quick look and done a search but I can’t see an answer.

When you buy skins off the gem store you have the option to apply the skin to a single piece of PvE armour or convert it into three PvP skins, a Light, a Medium and a Heavy.

With the new wardrobe system will there be a way to get the two other armour class skins that you would have got if you converted instead of applying to PvE?

It’ll probably either have 3 weights attached to it and only 1 slot….meaning that it can be used for all 3 armor classes…

or

It’ll continue to have 3 different slots (1 per light/med/heavy) like it shows in the pvp locker currently.

I think so far it has been very few pieces that do that. Head pieces, some shoulders and some gloves. The only boots I know that do that are those that I’m not certain anyone even has yet…Radiant Boots and the Hellfire Boots.

Looks like only people who pvp gets rewarded. First you get free charges acording to your rank and now unique skins aswell if this is gonna be true. This seems a bit unfair to people who don’t like to pvp.

You mean just like how PvE:ers get free charges for completing maps?

Sorry could not reply for 2 days due to downed internet. I think you misunderstood me there tho, Im not refering to map completion im refering to what is said in the blog post. When the 15th hit all pvpr’s gets free charges according to their pvp rank while non pvprs gets absolutly nothing. That seems hardly fair to me.

Considering for 1.5yrs spvpers had to pay nothing to swap armor skins, sounds fair to reward work put in.

I think Lordkrall didn’t misunderstand you at all. PVE’rs got them through map completion for 1.5yrs…a side reward for work put in and now Spvp’rs will get some equal treatment.

So far the wiki page list 3 ways of acquisition for the charges:
1. Gemstore
2. Black Lion Chest
3. Daily Reward Chest

I’m just wondering,
Will map completion reward charges?

@ Darth…great point. We basically are now being charged triple the cost to reskin items 1-79. Say I have 300stones in my bank, I can change 1 item 300 times or 300 items 1 time. After this goes live, I will have 100charges. hmmm, mixed emotions indeed.

Every fight between every class devolves into someone winning or someone running away.

METAShift.2913: “When a thief is around, it usually devolves to either the thief winning or the thief running away”

Thieves do die. I kill them all the time.

It kittenes me off more when I can see high mobility classes just straight up out run me.
Daily I get into fights with wars and eles who disengage and I chase a bit before saying screw it, I’ll see you again (it’s what I tell myself anyway, without names…i’ll never know with absolute certainty unless I try to party with them, I know guild/rank/armor skins could give me a good idea, but…)

So about those giants...

Once I got to Orr for the first time and seen Risen Giants walking about, I set out to start progressing this achievement. It then became apparent that these giants don’t count towards the achieve. Then I find out that there are like 3 giants in the game who do count.

I thought no way am I going to kill them 1000times to get this achieve and haven’t looked back since.

I do think that more giants should be added to the game. lol, I even think there should be some sort title for completing that achieve. Would kind of motivate me to get some daily kills on them.

I too was hoping for a trade in. I wouldn’t have minded taking the left over boosters and giving me other boosters instead.

Haven’t done soloque or tpvp in a bit. Are players still getting chest and pvp gear from those? If so, break those down for the powders. My problem is that there isn’t anything to do with the pvp salvage kits or the dozens of tokens I have.

Elementalist Legendary Armor

I like the idea of class inspired armor and have spoke on this want in some other thread.

You could even go the route of having the standard bells and whistles for light/med/heavy, but when worn by the class it was meant for…it has some added flare.

EG; Mesmer light legendary. When worn by necros and ele’s gives off white flames. when worn by mesmers, gives off white flames or gives off pink flames. Can be toggle’d to either or. That might be a lot of work, but it’s something that I would like.

Honestly, I would be satisfied with just class themed armor. My warrior wouldn’t care if he was wearing the set meant for guards.

I’m willing to bet those skins will be apart of the zone reward tracks. How many sets are in pvp that aren’t in pve anyways? The only one I know is the light PVP Masquerade armor. Light PVE Masquerade armor is something different.

I agree that there needs to be more via spvp.

The results will look something like this:
1)2.5K steal
2)5.5k c&d
3)8k backstab
[…] a couple auto attacks for 500 each
4)10k Heartseeker
DEAD x_x

The combination of shadow stepping, stealth, high evasion, extremely high spike damage, and no cooldowns due to the initiative system results in a very, very broken class.

Amen! Sometimes, after getting ganked by this utterly non skilled/ op rotation, I’ll take a screen cap of the combat log. I really don’t want to spend the time to look but, I’m certain this rotation is an extremely high percentage of my deaths in WvW. It’s also VERY macro friendly which makes it very bad for the game. This rotation needs a 50% damage reduction. And, I used to say 20% but, as time and power creep continues, I keep upping the nerf.

To the Dev’s, don’t you EVER say you are working towards build diversity when you don’t touch the most spammed rotation in the game.

Dagger/Dagger is so 2012.

Thieves are in the bracket of having the lowest based health. Survivability is built in through stealth.

Eles are in the same bracket with survivability built in through auras and skills that allow for healing beyond the #6 skill.
Guards are also in that bracket with survivability built in through blocks and substantial heals.

While I think the stealth here is probably not a very great concept in comparison to the thief forefather, the Assassin, without it I’m not sure they would be a class worth playing because you would be dead the majority of the time.

Great thieves rely on it less.

I do love how this thread seems to scream that this game can’t be played because you may run into a thief now and again in wvw between zerg clashes. Stop the exaggeration please.

What thieves that are running high damage specs are going deep into shadow arts anyway unless running some sort of venomshare build? Just about every thief I see in spvp is running 10/30/0/0/30 and I’m guessing wvw is not really that different. Easy to notice daze on steal shadow step and I see it all the time more often than not.

P/D may be the exception, but can do well without going into SA at all. I know I do when I play mine.

I play all classes and have to say dealing with thieves is in my mind a l2p issue. You win some, you lose some. I look at it this way, thief is meant to do exactly what it does…kill and annoy. Pick off random stragglers because we all know that thieves have virtually no multi target “in the thick of it” zerg kill skills.

Speaking of the Assassin from GW1, they didn’t have stealth at all and ppl still cried over them like they do with every assassin/rogue archetype in every single game including shooters.

I can’t wait for the crying to begin once you actually hit TESO and get bombed on. I know it’s going to happen.

Not really an ap hunter, but I’m approaching the 10k daily ap soon and have about 1500 or so from the monthly.
**************************** Edit: Took a look and actually had the number slots flipped. Actually approaching 10k permanent and have 6K + from dailies, so won’t hit 10k for another 7months at the very least doing 20pts a day.

I actually don’t care either way about the ap itself, but I do ask myself, what will this mean for those who want on the (meaningless) leaderboard?

At some point you are going to get to where only new updates and wvw achieves will get you points which means there could be a point where no one is moving up at all in the top 1000.

I do think there are many who only log in to do the daily if even for the bare minimum of 9pts for completion. Without that incentive to have something to do, this could backfire.

@ Orpheal….was confused about how you were using 10k ap, but the message is valid.
I hate math so I’m not going to count up how much daily ap has been available in total so I’m not sure if anyone is at 10k or not.

I do like the idea of compensation though, like I said, there is going to be a point where the achieves you can get are the content updates and wvw … + spvp rank/title achieves. Eliminating the dailies for ap will kill the reason to log in for many I assume simply due to if “I don’t have a reason to do the daily, I won’t do it at all and sometimes it’s the only thing I do”.

I know more than few pver’s who won’t go anywhere near pvp, so unless there has been a content update, these players who actually enjoy having this system will up to their ears in “nothing to do here”.

Compensation needed indeed.

I’m thinking the number of players nearing 10k daily ap is smaller than we think. It may overall actually be a none issue for the next few months. No one is close to 5k monthly so don’t think that’ll be a problem in the foreseeable future either.

Would you even WANT a new class/race?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Akari Storm.6809

Akari Storm.6809

I think pretty practically I guess. It’s an MMO, it will never be balanced. NEVER EVER, NEVEREVER. with that said:

I wouldn’t mind a new class as often as you can conceive and make them playable.

Believe it or not, there are games out there that have 15 and up classes. DAOC has like 40+ classes. EQ has like 15 or 16. WoW has 11. Even Guild Wars had 10 before support basically vanished in that respect.

The current classes we have now cover many angles yes, but they all kind of can do the same thing, just in different ways. No special flakes here. Sure every class has it’s own look skill wise, but there isn’t really anything here one class can do that the other can’t.

By that I mean…take WoW for instance, Rogues pretty much are your poison sources, Paly’s brings aura’s so on and so on. Each class provides something unique.

Here, everything besides maybe MOA transmorph can be done to some degree per class. To me that seems like it’s a pretty open system to pump out classes in a way that each class just has a different flare for the same things.

Pretty much feel the same way for races. Races to me feels like they have to make sense. As long as the backstory is sufficient, I’d take them as fast as you could pump them out.
