There is another bug, when the pet has no target, ( the wolf at least ), the smartass will prioritize WALKING over channeling his skill, canceling it and giving it a 3s cooldown. This has killed me SO many times.

I would take the ranger pet, because the ranger is useless without the pet, and the warrior is useless anyway so, yeah.
Sometimes my pet dies from fall damage. I don’t know how but it happens lol.
It’s like that for every pet, including the wolf. It’s kind of kitten IMO, because if i want to move my pet to the enemy before using my skill then i’ll simply press f1 then f2.
This has killed me so many times while downed.
If there is a time difference between downed then the one who downed first will most likely win. If one of them is condition based and the other isn’t then condition wins.
Most likely both will end up rezzing actually, unless the pet rez fails on one of them.
L2P Jeez. You guys want everything easy, and you won’t rest until everything that is good in this game is nerfed and we’re all left with bad abilities and horrible class mechanics.
**So picture this scenario:
The ranger pet is 40% of the ranger’s damage, even more so if you focus beastmaster. So, the genius opponent just focuses the pet down. In less than 10 seconds, the pet has fallen to 10% health. Then the ranger swaps pet. But the pet still has 10% health!! You being the extreme pro that you are just kill the pet. Now the ranger deals no damage and loses. What a noob! haha!
For real now, the only way to effectively kill a pet is wait for the ranger to swap pet on his own. Then you’ll have 16-20 sec to kill the pet if you really want to. That will trigger a 1 minute cooldown on pet swap to his next pet. Though this is possible, i don’t recommend it as its a lot more effective to just kite the hell out of the pet.
Hahaha lasthope are you kidding? Rangers downed state is the strongest one in game, you literally can interrupt it 5 times if you don’t have stability or mist form, or any form to enforce stomp really. Not to mention our pet rezzes us so you can’t DPS us down.
I don’t feel mesmers do a lot of damage while downed, specially since the game tells which one is the real one (which i think is completely kitten , then you can stomp pretty easily, necros fear isn’t AOE i think.
The balanced ones in my opinion are Guardian, Ele, Ranger, Necro and Engi (Only need to fix the bug where the pet rezzes you even if it’s dead). The warrior one needs a buff on throw hammer cast time, the mesmer needs the game to not tell which mesmer is the real one, and the thief needs a teleport range increase.

Was that you in the EB JP (SOS vs CD vs SBI) today? I did exactly that today to a thief that tried to stomp me.
Why do people feel the need to put intense music in their pvp videos?
I think the only thing that is getting buffed from SOTW is the active, since they said they want people to use the signets active instead of just having it for the passive which is exactly what we rangers do with most signets.
Expect improvements in that area, the passive is strong as is.

I never stated i want every class to have the exact same thing, however i do think that balance can be achieved by every class having the same benefits.
For instance, let’s assume two classes are exactly equal in terms of balance, however one has a superior heal than the other one. I don’t want to have the exact same heal as the other class, but i do want something just as good as.
That’s what i think balance is at least.
Warrior’s Rifle has it, Thieves pistol has it, why doesn’t the shortbow have it?
Ours shortbow is the only on that has bleed when flanking restriction. Why?
The bleed duration from their weapons is already longer than ours, i think this would be a neat buff to the rangers.

It was a good goal too, I don’t know why they didn’t stick with it, just making stealth a short mobility/CC/condi deal instead of just raw dps and resetting fights.
Aside from venom, what is unavoidable about the thief?
First of, a dev can’t keep a blind eye to all other professions just because he likes the rangers. Second, he is right. The thief is in a good place right now, and i think they actually need buffs to their other weapons. It takes skill to actually kill someone on the same skill level as the thief’s.
But if you’re going to stand around and do nothing, or you have a 2 second reaction time, then you really can’t complain.

People often compare our shortbow to their shortbow, but i really can’t understand that as our shortbow is by far superior. Their shortbow only serves a mobility purpose really, and to use cluster bomb on groups.
The only really OP thief spec is the P/D one. I can’t understand how they haven’t nerfed it already.
Honestly I don’t understand why it cant be done in one patch. Plenty of time to get it done, the issue has been their since release so plenty of time to have known about it. If things go wrong and it makes an aspect op hot fix it. Really no reason that it should take more than one patch.
And when can we expect this patch and the details?
Mainly because there are other classes who also need balance, and these things need to be planned, built, tested, and analyzed. It’s not just a large workload, but also in a step-by-step process that has game-wide consequences that must be considered during all phases of development. Mix that with all the other classes and their changes, and it’s a pretty big task that has to be ready for the next patch.

I don’t understand though, why aren’t there any temporary buffs to help keep a class in edge.
Like, if you know pets are squishy, give them a temporary toughness boost until you find a better solution. That was just an example, but stuff like that could be done.
It’s not that hard to kill the pet seriously, they’re squishy. CC it, then kill it.
Most of the times the freaking thing won’t work, and if you want to talk bugs, then how about they go fixing some bugs that will actually buff us, instead of bugs that will nerf us like they have been doing all this time? Empathic bond, pet swap, guard, the list goes on.

the above description, to me, seems that we supposed to be a great ranged class… (unparalelled=best actually but oh well)…
so after having leveled every class to 80 and have had meaningful time with each of them in WvW i come to the conclusion that rangers are hopeless… and definitely not going in the direction of above description… more and more we are forced to be melee heavy to be half-effective…

Are you seriously trying to compare the warrior’s horrible longbow to the diamond that is our shortbow? I’m sorry, but ranged we still deal the best sustained DPS around. Thieves shortbow is horrible, only works for mobility.
Our sword is better than the warrior’s and the thieves, our dagger has a very nice evade, but the 5th skill projectile is slow and always fails. Our longbow is horrible. Never liked our greatsword. Axes are situationally good. Our warhorn is awesome, except for number 4. Our torch is great.
We’re very good in condition damage, able to deal long lasting burning with traps, our spikes aren’t that great but neither is anyone’s with the quickness nerf. Have you seen a healing regen ranger? It’s just wow, so impossible to kill.
We never were supposed to excel in anything. We’re supposed to be good at everything, not very good in one thing. Elementalists however, stole our role. Now they do everything very well.
Jan, that person complaining wasn’t a thief, he said that trapper rangers are invulnerable to anything BUT a thief. The guy complaining probably was a warrior, and to them everything is OP, because they need some serious buffs.

Edit: Now that i think of it, it may be that i ended up getting another target near my corpse and since its aoe it interrupted him. However, i think it works without anything too as i remember dueling with him alone.

I think, aside from the P/D Thief, that the thief class is in a good place right now. It’s a lot harder to pull off the bursty kills with the quickness nerf.
Nerfing heartseeker would simply ruin the balance they have achieved.
You claim your idea is different from the others where the end result is the same. Abandon any hope of stowing your pet and gaining benefits in return. It just won’t happen. It goes against everything that ANET had in mind for the ranger.
And while the pet is buggy, it’s not as bad as you people make it out to be. It needs some tweaking? Yes, yes it does. Does it need a complete rework? No.
This is just like Dota II. Whenever a team is losing, they blame the teammate with worst k/d ratio, so they can save face. The same applies to the pet.

IMO, they need to make AOE hit the pet for less, separate skills from wvw and pve to do that. Add the ability to control which abilities you want your pet to use, “Guard” absolutely shouldn’t be an utility. Make a pet utility bar for shouts (1 utility, 2 if traited in beasmastery) F2 Abilities should be cast faster, remove pet as possible C&D target.
Improve pet AI when fighting thieves, prioritize F2 skill when triggered over anything else, fix the downed issue that the pet disregards everything you want him to do for 2 seconds.
That’s it, i think.

Fix pet ai pathing, pets can move while channeling their auto attacks, birds can do what the old guard did “attack people in keeps, and in other terrain”. Lets be honest, that wouldn’t be OP at all because your pet would just be eaten by the enemy team as soon as he reached the top. But the fact that you could do it would be nice enough.

No one is talking about normal bursty thieves, i eat those for breakfast.
I’m talking about P/D thieves. Those, that can 3v1 people easily. Well, maybe not easily but you get what i mean.
Anyway, let’s not be hard on the devs. The only profession that can get so much advantage over rangers because of the pets are the thieves.

Idk what ur talking about u can use number 2 without a target and it still works. your wrong assumption however, may come from the blindness that the thief leaves when he stealths if traited.
What if i told you that the shortbow is the hunter’s weapon and not the longbow?
Oh man, i remember when you could use Guard to put your pet on top of cliffs. I would always send my wolf and use fear. Once i killed like 5 people doing this in EB JP.
You can also wait by the chest in EB JP, and wait for the person to climb the stairs and point blank. Insta kill.
I have tested the longbow’s auto attack and yes, it’s 1.25s.
Just activate any instant utility that has a high cooldown and count how many arrows you fire. Higher cooldown means less room for mistakes. Anywho, when i tested it gave me exactly 1.25s.
EDIT: You know, if this really is just a mistake in ANETs part then that will explain the longbow being horrible. The longbow would deal 1.6x more damage if that were the case.

I think they should remove the pet as a possible C&D target. Only the pet though, because necros aren’t as reliant on their minions as we are.

Well, basically when i’m dueling a thief that goes into stealth a lot, like p/d thieves, my pet stops anything he was doing and becomes kitten
He literally won’t attack anyone and will react maybe when i’m downed already.

If you’re in a party, call target to the real mesmer. I can’t understand why necros or thieves would be a problem though.
While it could be fun, it would enable easier farming. And can you imagine killing a boss so easily?
Please don’t do this. What if ANET sees a skill that wasn’t supposed to be working like (COUGH EMPATHIC BOND COUGH) it should be and they are going to f (COUGH PET SWAP CD RESET COUGH) ix it.
Or … they may notice something that isn’t pairing right, working correct, etc. and fix it.

I think using both Torch and Flame trap is counter productive, as burning stacks in duration. Grab the poison trap, and keep torch. That way it’ll be easier to kill bunkers.
