Lyssa’s Grimoire – a guide every Mesmer should read.
I saw a video about 2 years ago, about Mesmer pvp in the first beta…
His GS clones did 500 damage per spatial surge with Empowered Illusions :/.
He even described what his build was: “with 10 domination my clones do maasive damage, with 30 duelling I can keep mantras for extra damage and clone generation. With 25 Chaos I gt condition damage and boon duration, which is inportant for my might stacking qnd bleeding from clones. 5 illusions is obvious. I use a rampager amulet to enhqnce bleeding from clones”
Somethng like that :P
I think clones are fine as they are now.
Id like this… Except ill never get one :’(
Solo Q is hugely based on luck, and youre just so dependant on your team…
Id go as far as saying, winning requires more luck than personal skill.
I would personally love if they made a mode where you just duel 1v1s or something. It can controbute to legendary achievements aswell, but not enough. You still have to get revives and map specific stuff in conquest. With a duel mode, those of us who are good at combat and just unlucky/bad at conquest will finally get some “recognition”, maybe a seperate leaderboard that rates your ability in 1vs1 combat, instead of luck.
Again, Im not saying they should, im saying I would love it
I already spend 50% of my time in Spvp doing the 1vs1 custom arenas :/.
Suggestion
Immobilizes would stack up to 5 seconds. After that, any new extra immobilizes that would stack it over 5 seconds remove the old immobilize stack and set a new immobilize at 5 seconds. (Regardless of the original duration of the new immobilize application, unless it is a longer than 5 second base duration immobilize, then it overwrites the stack limit with this higher base duration)
(I just picked 5 seconds here as an example without doing any research, maybe it should be more, or less?)
Example A:
John uses a 4 second immobilize on Alice.
After 1 second, John uses a new 3 second immobilize on Alice.
Alice now has 5 seconds of immobilize left to go (instead of the current 6 or the pre-update 3 seconds)
This gets especially obvious as the numbers stack up.
Example B:
John uses a 4 second immobilize on Alice.
Peter also uses a 2 second immobilize on Alice.
One second later, John unleashes his next 3 second immobilize on Alice.
Alice is now immobilized for 5 seconds instead of 8.
Example C:
If James comes along to bind Alice for 6 seconds with a single skill in his completely overpowered condition duration build, Alice would be immobilized for 6 seconds regardless of previous immobilize stacks.
If John, one second later, then manages to immobilize Alice for another 3 seconds, Alice would still be chained for 5 seconds. The new immobilize would be ‘wasted’.
It would still be possible for John, Peter & James to keep Alice in chains for 13 seconds-ish if they time their immobilizes very well. But it would require some serious effort.
Note: This would probably take some serious programming. But it might be worth it. I agree with Gesamtkunstwerk that reducing the amount of stacks isn’t the best solution here.
While it does solve the permanent immobilize stack, it still allows for immobilize durations that are too high. (Say two 3 second and a 4 second immobilize adding up to 10 seconds)
And it probably doesn’t solve the PvE troubles we’ve been having since the update either. (The spider in AC comes to mind directly, but I remember being pinned for over 12 seconds in CM as well.)
Note # 2: This doesn’t solve chaining 1 second immobilizes. Perhaps having both limits in place would tackle the problems with immobilize stacking though.
That said – Good to know this is being worked on!
^great idea
PVP 1v1 situation
iBeserker : 6/10 AOE Medium-High Dmg with Long reload time. 4 hits every time but sometimes misses 1-2 hits
iDuslist: 8/10 single High Dmg with Long reload time. But the accuracy rate is much better than iBeserker
iSwordman: 9/10 best phantasm Mid-High Dmg with Short reload time. 100% accuracy vs not dodging enemy
iWarden: 0/10 WTF? Spinning? Hitting oxygen?
iWarlord: 4/10 Maybe viable in Carrion or Ramgager build. But it is really Low Dmg when lack of conditions build
iMage: 2/10 Similar to iWarlord with Very Long Weapon Cooldown
Warlock*
It can actually hit as high as a swordsman, but with longer cooldown time. Using carrion or rampager will actually decrease the warlock’s damage.
And you just bumper a 5 months old thread x.x
edit: LOL, Necro’d again xD?
(edited by Alissah.9281)
i am a thief…what is stability?
You know, that thing you get for 5 seconds when you apply Basilisk Venom or Consume Ectoplasm from a Mesmer?
You realize that requires a specific set of runes to get stability from BV right? Why don’t you mention breaking dagger storm early as well? None of these are viable/reliable methods.
As far as I can tell, 80% of the thieves I meet use lyssa runes :/.
And I didnt really think of dagger storm, but its rarely used anyway.
Dissapointing :/.
Me and my guild were super excited for the custom arenas, because we just wanted a fun place to hang out on a map we wanted without randoms joining and randomly slapping us…
Well, it was alot of fun, for a month!
Gem prices went through the roof, and the few of us werent able to farm enough gold (most played omly pvp… So they literally had 0 gold).
I ovcasionally wanted to record/just hang out with a random friend and duel or something. “Hey, we can go to my guild’s custom arena, so we can duel without being interupted by randoms
” – “OMG thats so awesome and usefull I wish I had a custom arena C:”
But 100 gold, or 20 euro per month, thats just insane :/.
i am a thief…what is stability?
You know, that thing you get for 5 seconds when you apply Basilisk Venom or Consume Ectoplasm from a Mesmer?
The thing with condition buikds is that thy only need a single wtat (condition damage) to do nearly 100% damage, the rest can go to survivability.
Some condition builds will use precision, in which case rabid is perfect for them, giving them 100% possible offense while still being tanky with toughness.
To get the same damage on a direct damage build, youd have to go berserker, which leaves you with nothing for defense.
For example condition necro… Believe it or not, but it has an extremely low skill floor. You can literally go 12345 with a staff and do massive aoe condition damage, which is also really difficult to avoid.
That same necro is also too tanky… If I make a single mistake on shattet Mesmer, I get overloaded with conditions that will eat half my hp away in up to 5 seconds.
That happens while the necro facetanks my full burst and is left with 60ish% hp. After that im completely defenseless, and conditions are still eating me away…
Warrior is even worse x.x
- Make good practice NPC’s that we can fight with metagame-builds that we can discover by clicking on them.
Hey, that would work great for learning animations!
I’d imagine a private instance, with wome hostile npcs that you can ’activate by pressing F, and it says a short text of what it will do.
For example a rifle warrior npc:
The player can change ‘difficulty’ to test and improve their reaction time.
The player is equipped with a shield that can block a single attack, and then it breaks.
Same can be done with for example hundred blades:
The player is equipped with a sword that does damage with the autoattack, and has a very quick hilt bash that dazes.
And a training where you have to interupt an npc that heals:
The player is equipped with a pistol and power lock, an instant cast that instantly dazes your target.
On higher difficulties, the elementalist will use the shorter healing skills, and sometimes use blue spells that may look like heals.
Not sure if it would actually interest new players, but I had fun making it up anyway :P
(edited by Alissah.9281)
Thanks for the post, Jonnis.
Imagine you just made it out of the introductory tutorial – in your opinion, what’s the most confusing thing for a new player, right off the bat? Traits, builds, items, conquest? How to get into PvP? Feel free to mention whatever.
Im not speaking out of experience here, so I could be wrong:
A possible solution: list the meta builds in the trait panel, so new players can click them and see a brief dewcription.
For example, with Mesmer we have shatter, phantasm, condition and lockdown as meta builds. Each one of the 4 gets their own gear + traits preset and a brief description.
detailed example for shatter
Additionally, there could be links to profession forums or guides, if the player doesnt want to experiment, but rather start out with enough knowledge. On the Mesmer forum, we have an in-game guild of experienced Mesmers who you can whisper for advice etc.
The most common question Mesmers ask is for me to give them a build that fits them (adding the descriptions ingame will help them look for themselves), and how to counter meta builds like stunlock warrior. (Thats a quite afvanced question, so it doesnt nescesarily have to be in game.)
Thanks for listening
.
I haven’t tested it, but as far as I’m concerned it’s not actually the ‘Decoy’ skill. It just stealths you and creates an illusion. (I may be wrong though)
That said, the trait is practically never worth taking. You can’t control when it comes, and if it does, you’re probably in the middle of something like a burst, important skill, or fired a projectile/ground placed aoe that will reveal you.
I always start crying when I get transformed into a Charr in the Ascalon fractal…
I really dislike the animations (especially blurred frenzy) :<
I like te sword animation actually. They hit from right to left on teh first hit, whereas females hit from left to right… right to left just feels more natural to me x.x
Other than that, I hate everything about being a charr :P.
Sometimes it gets bugged and I keep my old form – super happy :o
Escaping and ‘not being the slow guy’ should not be a problem with Mesmer :P
We have some of the best in combat mobility, which will fit in any build without haing to trait it.
The reason you owned with warrior in pvp… Is because its easymode :/. Arenanet buffed certain things way too much. You can literally press 1 2 3 4 5 with a meta warrior build and kill most people x.x
Hopefully itll get nerfed someday :/.
That said, we have 4 categories of pvp builds you can try out:
Shatter and lockdown are the most difficult, then comes phantasm and the. Consition.
An example shatter build is 10/20/0/0/30. You can remove 10 from domination… But its really very much needed in Spvp
For lockdown, 30/30/10, 10/20/30… Something like that.
Phantasm: 10/0/0/25/0
Condition: 20/20/30/0/0
Sorry for not telling much about pve, but I don’t have much time atm, and still wAnted to help a bit (maybe :o).
I feel like pvp would give a good example of what Mesmer is like, because you have to use all your skills, and are already lvl80 and stuff.
If you want, you can whisper me in game or send me a message here, and you can ask questions in real time, or I can show you things… Like my awesome cat mini :o! (Mesmer things too).
These builds are still viable, and amongst the top of effectiveness when played well…
But theyre very difficult compared to faceroll warriors/necros/rangers :/.
Condition is probably the most forgiving build we have.
You go to sleep and have a dream where you are playing your mesmer. Happened two nights ago, I think it might be high time to take a break from the game. Despite that, the content was fun though.
I had a mesmer dream once too :/.
Someone got stuck in deep mud… So I dodged to make clones and then shattered them on a fly to proc shattered conditions… And the person in the mud walked out :P
edit: actually, I tend to be a mesmer more often than not in my dreams, because I use blink to get around ;D
It doesnt have a cooldown though :o
As a girl I leaned towards mesmer bc it’s the most ‘femine class’
I have 2 mesmer a norn mesmer female and human mesmer- I like the human cultural T2 better for a mesmer reminds me of Gw1 mesmer armor.
whilst T3 Human looks too much like something an Ele would wear. Most aren’t very stylish IMO most go all out one color- purple/black or have some ugly atrocious armor combo.
Such as Arah mantle with non matching armor- it’s a really unconventionally ugly look – not flattering at all with the bulkyness.:D
Its not the most ‘femine’ class.
Its just the most elegant, unpredictable, deceptive, intelligent, awesome and purple class :P
Tbh I’m having great fun in sPvP with my Mesmer.
The first thing to realize is that no, a bunker Mesmer isnt all that impressive. Can you build one? Of course! But you’re simply no match to a bunker Guardian/Warrior/Necro/Engineer/whatever. A Mesmer by design is evasive and that dont go well with bunkering on a capping point. Its just the way the gameplay mode is designed and it wont change unless they make capping points with 5x current radius.
So my tip is to have a damage oriented point of view. It’ll be alot more fun. If you want to be extravagant you can go condition, but personally I went raw weapon skills while balancing out the stats with the amulet. Greatsword/staff on a 20/30/20 (gs/staff traited) valkyrie build. 24K HP is enough to raise a couple of eyebrows in combat while the crit chance/damage is acceptable at 45/35. Speed runes added on top for mobility, heh.
The only real danger is really heavy condition builds (nasty condition Necros), I generally run with null field in addition to tp/decoy but its really not enough. Oh well, cant have everything. Everything usually die anyway to an OP Necro :/
Just wanted to drop a quick reply:
What you said all makes sense, buuuut: we used to have amazing bunkers. It focussed on retaliation damage, and actually could kill people pretty fast. With 3 phantasms up very close to each other, when someone hits all 3 and you, they take 5 or 6 times retaliation damage O.o. Now imagine what happens with a multi hit skill like blurred frenzy or whirling wrath :P.
But Arenanet destroyed the build :/. ‘We want to slightly shave all the overpowdred builds (there were no overpowered builds) while keeping all popular and fun ones intact, because we know people enjoy them.’. I just dont trust arenanet anymore :/.
Why would somone kick you for using the staff? o.O Highest single target dps and best aoe support, even the auto attacks passive damage is great. But yeaaa passive damage – who really notices it? Why does anyone just want to see numbers -.-’’??
It’s not highest single target DPS. That goes to sword mainhand and the sword/pistol phantasms.
Except on bosses with a lot of conditions :P
The thing with staff is… Its either a condition, support or defensive weapon.
The staff is an amazing weapon, and it would definitely see use in dungeons… If dungeon AI wasnt so… Mindless. Maybe if we fought players in dungeons, that would be awesome :P. And it would remove the ‘zerker or gtro’ meta aswell, unless youre actually good in zerker pvp(most people arent). Just a random… Dream, I guess.
Imagine that zerker warrior with 6 legendaries get insta bursted and think his legendaries meant he’d actually stand a chance… Ok, sorry :P
I would be very surprised if the mesmer distribution didn’t reflect the general distribution, being human females at the top.
That being said, sylvari is actually where it’s at.
Quoted and bolded for truth.

…When someone got a flesh wound, and you want to heal them: ‘Agony, torment, pain!’.
You own 1 or more of these: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aXoMW0zG45M/Tf9WSBnSp9I/AAAAAAAAAV4/e5tzaM1oYpQ/s400/betseyjohnsonchild2.jpg
Well i dont have that one… but atleast 40% of my underwear/nightwear is purplish colored :/. Theres even a few with butterflies on them xD.
I see the least charr mesmers, and slightly more norn.
Then come sylvari and asura, and the most are indeed human female :P
condition I recommend 20/20/30. You have alot of defense, it will be hard to die even if you try. Your damage relies on combos (you have to know all skills quite well).
Do you have a build link for this? I have never tried a condition mesmer and am rather curious. Thx in advance.
edit: kinda in a rush, so i cant type much. If you ever need anything, fele free to whisper me in game or something :P
Well, looks like I dont play too much Mesmer :/.
Except the calculating to eba t several palces at one time… Its a bad thing, and it happens way too often :P
Another one of these threads?
Yes it’s bugged.
Yes the devs know.
No it’s not going to be fixed any time soon because it’s a problem inherent to the pathing code in this game, and would require a massive amount of work.
Be creative and its a easy fix.
Adjust how the skill works if the original skill doesnt go together with the games pathing design. ( thinking outside of the box )
like this:
1 ) first activation = send out a clone.( like it does now )
2) secondary activation = teleport to target and imobilize them ( put the clone on the spot you teleported from )( They can recycle a lot of coding from thief sword )
There you go its fixed. ( Only devs need to want to do it )
You have to be a bit more careful when planning implementation reworks.
For example, your implementation would destroy the unique potential of that skill. Currently you swap places with the clone, wherever it is. This allows you to use it as a gap closer, or a gap opener, or simply just a disorientation technique. If you simply teleported to the target you would lose much of that functionality.
There is no simple fix. If there were, it would be fixed already.
Initially the clone is programmed to jump to the target , so your clone is gone be close to target anyway when you swap places. The only reason why the clone is not gone be near the target is when it bugs out.
Gab opener ? plz explain how your clone is not going to run to the target ? ( sword clone )
and teleporting kinda is the best gab closer there is, so cant agree on that 1 either.
And you would loos the disorientation effect only when the clone bugs out.
Only thing i agree with you is that the original illu leap cant be fixed easily, does not mean they should not look at alternatives. Like the 1 I suggested.
Talking about pvp, because gap opening is irrelevant in pve:
If youre actively moving in combat, the clone more often than not will have space between itself and its target, heres why:
I remember an amazing swap being in Joe’s video: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7_4BXll_AY4&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7_4BXll_AY4
He comments: “nice juke, joe!”, with a swap +phase retreat for huge gap opener. Im currently on mobile, and its not viewable on mobile for some reason, so I cant find the right time :/. Its somewhere in the first 7 minutes, but after the 2nd minute.
edit: got ninja’d, and wow, I type way too slow on mobile :/.
(edited by Alissah.9281)
@ pyro: Sometimes I’d really like to view the source of your information. Just to have a good base for my own opinion =)
Theres a “fix illusionary leap” thread every 3 months or so. In one of them, a dev stated their current engine didnt allow the clone to leap up- or downwards unstable terrain.
So, yea.
Though that is relative, and this is GW2. Nothing is particularly difficult with a little time investment.
Were talking about pvp here :P
Thats the thing I like about pvp compared to pve. There are always people who van kill you, and there are always new things to learn. Winning actually means something, it means youre better/luckier than someone, while in pve winning means nothing, really.
I think Id rather be as I am now in terms of skill in pvp, than having a legendary droprate of 10% per mob and being doomed to being a noob forever :P
Btw, survivng with a thief is pretty hard :/. Doing damage is easy, because you just press 1. Survivng is the hard part… And theyre going to nerf perma stealtg/perma evade next patch :o
Mesmer is one of the hardest classes
You’re joking right?
Ive got to agree, actually.
warriors, rangers and necro are the easiest. Not saying theyre super easy, but just the least difficult :P.
Then come the rest, except guardian, because I dont know them enough to judge.
Then again, I cant really judge :/. It was quite some time ago when I just went 12345 and killed things. Really, improvements are huge, but really hard to notice. For months I felt like I was stuck and not improving at all x.x
We learnt that she can whisper in a really creepy way :’(
Ever since that first attack, she’s changed :o
The problem with all of these posts, is people ask for to much, and then make ridiculous claims. For one Necro’s and Engineers get there speed from two completely different sources. Necro’s, Theives, Rangers, and Elementalist use signets. The passive affect from these signets is nowhere near as powerful as signet of inspiration. It seems very unlikely there going to just tag on even more to that signet. They would have to rework it, which would be fine with some people. But i do not think they are just going to add it on.
Engineers have to put 10 points into speedy kits, which might be fine with some mesmers. But it would change all of our builds, which are already stretched if they did this.
Many thieves and rangers and ele’s are now using traveler’s runes like mesmers, because they are learning what good mesmers have known all along. A utility spot is far greater then speed. Sure you can change them out, but in my entire time fighting other players, i think I’ve seen an enemy change out a signet a second before battle, right around never.
People always post things like this. Like every class has unlimited access to swiftness (they don’t) and they have to sacrifice nothing (they do). We have access to swiftness, we have access to centaur runes, and we have access to travelers runes.
It would be nice if they fixed the focus so it wasn’t so buggy with the swiftness. But getting a signet of inspiration that constantly applies swiftness for nothing (which no sigil can do) and a random buff, and the ability to give everyone buffs is a bit much.
For the record, id run decoy, blink + 25% movement speed :P (atleast in pvp).
Movement speed would mitigate much more damage than a third utility slot would, atleast in pvp :P
But i already bought travelers, so…
How are you all so rich :’(
I have like… Nothing left after I bought the ghost quaggan mini x.x
Kohler, Arah Priest, FOTM blizzard map boss… those are the bosses with most dmg you could do with confusion.
you can reach 2280+ condi dmg max as a mesmer (no might) that about 450+ dmg per stack. With perplex rune and correct trait, your confusion can last 20 seconds at most.
Confusion maxes out at 10 seconds. Good thought though.
20
Edit>nvm, you got that
Before you are all “amazed” by it, let me burst your dream, in order to reach that 20 seconds of confusion you need to invest EVERYTHING in confusion, which means your one and only condition will be confusion. 1 condition is never enough. In a teamplay, maybe, but you are dead meat in 1on1.
I once encountered a D/P thief that did nothing else than auto attack and headshot-daze me :/.
I had perma 10ish confusion, and did more damage to myself than to him ;0
I tested it a few times, but never really got it to work with new builds.
I also tested it with existing, viable builds… But when they added runes of speed in pvp :P right now Im just waiting for traveler runes :o
For roaming ive been using 10/20/10/0/30 lately, blink is actually one of my favourite skills :P
In 20/20 you have the boon strip, or empowered illusions if you use strong phantasms.
10/30 has… Some more precision and critical damage. Ive always believed in “trait for traits, not for stats”, so I’d probably go with 20/20
Im not actually sure if I like blade trainig, it just feels like it doesnt have an impact on blurred frenzy with the new cooldown. It used to be awesome before it got nerfed, so ill occasionally use it anyway just for the happy memories :/… And then 10/30
edit: zerglings you meet while roaming more often than not use a horrible build that doesnt use much boons. Chances are, your boon strip wont help much, especially when you plan to insta kill people :P
(edited by Alissah.9281)
Welcome to gw2!
Oh, you’re not new? In that case:
With the culling patch, they caused an “intended” issue where phantasms lose their glow and look like clones with their own weapon. If phantasms are as they should be, its really obvious theyre a phantasm (purple glowy). Having an offjand sword wouldnt change much.
To be honest – tickling was a serious method of torture in the dark age. You are able to die due the damage to your loungs. There was also the method to put salt on your body while goats where licking it off wich tickles and slowly removes the skin wich has been salted again until infections and painful death was the result …
Yes … just wanted to say that o.o’’
I will never want to be tickled again :/.
0-20-20-0-30 hits like a wet noodle? That’s funny because it works great for me. Maybe you’re gear is out of date? Oh yeah you use pvt gear right?
I use full rampager with that spec. Maybe that changes things? You think?
If you’re using full rampagers, then I retract my wet noodle statement.
It was far too generous.
How about tickling them with a feather?
Hey, tickling is part of the most efficient fighting techniques known to mankind!
Ive never been, or have tickled with a feather, but its probably just as effective as without, or even more!
edit: on a serious note: lately ive had alot of people ask/tell me about the “condition shatter spec with rampager 0/20/20/0/30”, especially in pvp. Theyd ask me if its still viable after a patch, or if i have tips for playing it… Well, I don’t.
I know quite some Mesmers whom I do pvp tourneys with, who use it. I usually ask thwm to use something better for tourney, but it never really works :/. “Condi shatter” seems to be some meta I dont know anything about O.o
(edited by Alissah.9281)
BTW, the guy is asking for a “viable” pve build, not ideal. There’s a difference.
You can run pretty much everything in pve and still win. 0/20/20/0/30 is viable… But defense is simply not needed in dungeons, aka the Chaos line.
Rampager gear doesnt work well btw. Youd be much better off with berserker. Its ok, but the condition damage is a wasted stat.
20 seconds confusion from perplexity? Thats ridiciously overpowered, cant believe arenanet stil didnt fix that :/.
And I, for some reason thought confusion capped at 10 seconds too. I guess after they nerfed our mediocre confusion applications, I never really bored to try it again :(
the reason no one really cares about pvp, is because people care about getting “rewards” in pve.
about 90% of the gaming population nowadyas seem so focussed on rewards that nothing else matters anymore >__<
Be a little more specific if you need tips :P
If you dont have a decent build yet, your first step would be to make or get one :P
Choose one of the following:
Shatter and lockdown are the hardest, then comes phantasm and ten condition.
Im typing this on mobile, so I cant reallylink things properly :/.
If you want to meet me in game or something, feel free to whisper me or send a forum PM :D
What makes it so good is that the enemy can’t dodge whereas they can dodge dazes.
Just wanted to add:
People usually dodge after they get dazed by reflex. If you just wait and anticipate how they waste both their dodges from your dazes, and then strike… The dodge wasting would be more dangerous than your actual daze.
When I interupt a heal, I usually go:
There’s so much combos to do with lockdown builds, and they all feel so natural :o
BTW, does stunning with Comfounding Suggestions apply daze-vulnerability?
I don’t have alot of time to read, so that’s all I can say atm :P
Oh, it would be cool if the defender and disenchanter would be cast on yourself, though. Just 1 rule to make it not OP:
Having illusions up out of combat would be extremely OP though. Imagine roaming with 3 swordsmen up. A thief jumps on you, 2 seconds later the thief is downed.
Maybe you’re just lagging.
My lagg in wvw and some pvp servers makeit almost unplayable :/
IMO, Interupt traits should work even if you just apply a control effect, and don’t interupt, but to a lesser extent. Something like this:
Halting Strike: Deal damage and apply vulnerability (5 stacks, 6 seconds) on interupt. Deal 33% damage and apply vulnerability (5 stacks, 3 seconds) when applying a control effect.
Furious Interuption: Gain quickness (3s) and fury (3s) on interupt. Only gain fury (3s) when applying a control effect.
Bountifull interuption: Gain 5 stacks of might and a random boon on interupt. Only gain a random boon when applying a control effect.
Chaotic Interuption: Apply immobilize and confusion (3 stacks, 4s), and randomly chill (4s), blind (4s) or weakness (4s). Only randomly apply chill blind or weakness when applying a control effect.
(edited by Alissah.9281)
The ice dude in the ice fractal takes quite alot fo damage from confusion. Each ice thingy that falls down counts as a seperate skill and damages him. You probably would do more damage if you just went with a proper phantasm build, though :P
I actually like the current incarnation of Mimic. I don’t see why it needs a change. It fills the role of a selfish reflect and block and works extremely well in builds that like retaliation up.
I have to agree to a certain degree. Mimic has saved my kitten countless times in the past couple of days. It’s like wielding a shield with reflect trait and I’m absolutely loving it. The only bad part is that you have no control over what gets absorbed when ur running away from a zerg. Only time u get to make an informed decision about what to absorb is when you see a skill with a long cast like Kill Shot, but right now I feel like the “absorb” is kinda a bonus while the real reason I use it is for the block. I guess the lesson here is that you don’t miss something till its gone, or in this case about to be gone xD
Just wanted to add: you take damage from the absorbed projectile.
Mimicing a kill shot from a berserker warrior while youre berserker too, is a bad idea :P
Thanks ANet for the great search function in this forum:
My search never works :/
My least favourite ones are the useless ones :P
Btw, retaliatory shield is pretty cool with prismatic understanding and a staff.
I once duelled a ranger with shortbow and warhorn, and retaliation was my #1 damage source, with 11k damage :P (on a condition build)
Ive heard stories about furious interruption being good, but cant personally get it to work.
Phantasmal haste is usefull for reflection with wardens, and also a significannr damage increase. I think it would make more sense to be in inspiration, though.
I dont understand what this thread is about :/
A good solo Q match imo is:
The chat is probably my biggest issue… I once decided to do solo Q after a stressfull day, but some person called me kitten, and stuff, just because I asked who wanted to go close, and that it cant be myself because I need mobility (mesmer) ._.
Some people are so toxic
I don’t really mind losing actually. Unless the enemy team wins solely because mine is afk :P
Also, I like the new rank point reward system, but personally, it changed my style in hotjoin a whole lot. It used to be ‘_just run around and kill people for fun
’, but now its _’just run around and kill people for fun
/notices team is losing/ OMG were losing, I have to cap points :O’. Im not saying its bad, in fact, im aaying its amazing, because it teaches people the objective instead of just getting alot of glory/fight for fun. It just makes me feel bad when my team loses because I just run around and enjoy it :/. Its like they all get less glory because of me >_<
Oh, and with the old system I always joined the losing team, or blue if they were even. But now, if i swap to the losing team I actually lose rank points :/. And yes, its a big deal because I just want to be rank 40 for new skins :/.
Autobalqnce often has the opposite effect when it swaps me…
Situation:
Or things like this:
It seems to me autobalance picks a random person to make the teams even >_<
I kind of have a suggestion for a new autobalance, but I got kind of aidetracked and it turned this in a wall of text, so ill leave it out :/.
