10/30/0/0/30, anything is possible on shatter. Just remove blink and replace it with something else. Youll cripple yourself, but not enough to be unviable.

Actually, you can take on 1vs3 with any decent Mesmer pvp build that isnt built for 1v1 only. You just have to hope for 3 average players (most are average), if theres a pro, youre kittened :P

I like using knight headpiece/shoulder/coat/skirt and the rest berserker. It puts me on exactly 2050 armor, which is an amazing number. Some think its a bit low, but I like insta-gibbing people :P

If I want to roam with a slightly tanky build or go in zergs, I just get my cavalier rings and necklace + knight assesories. It puts me on 30ish crit chance unbuffed and 40%+ with buffs. I always try to aim for atleast 40% for roaming.

I wanted to make my assesories cavalier too, but I bought knight by accident :/.

With defensive trinkets I have like 2500 armor, whih is alot for me. But it all depends on your style, some people like going with nearly 3000 ;0

edit: I also avoid vitality at all costs, in slightly longer fights (30 seconds) its just a wasted stat that doesnt do anything and is better put somewhere else :/.

I think there’s a difference between not going along with the “hey bro check out my cleric mesmer scepter shatter heal build” “yeah bro that build is totally awesome you’ll pwn dungeon with it” “high five” stuff that was happening here before, and actively trolling.

Settling into the “GS is great and I never die so I must be useful” routine is nice for a while but it’s about time to move on. All the guardians in their AH soldier setups thought they were being amazing supports and “anchors” for the longest time until people started pointing out they weren’t. There was a big kittenstorm over it for a while but now no one runs AH anymore and life is a lot better for everyone.

That was most definitely NOT going on here before you speedrunners came here.

We have enough other experienced Mesmers to help newer ones, in a respectfull manner. Those Mesmers know very well that cleric scepter shatter heal builds dont work out.

It was fine before you came here to shove speedrun oppinions down peoples’ throat, get your facts straight.

Mesmers have some of the best boon support, its up there with the guardians/engi/ele. As far as I remember it goes like:

Mesmer: best boon support, and alot of projectile reflection. But stability and protection require a major damage sacrifice and changes in traits. Mantra healing requires you to do nothing else, but has no cooldown. (Only needs 20 inspiration for a support build, leaving 50 to the player to place)
Guardian: second best boon support, with best acces to stability and protection with a hammer. Im pretty sure all the boon skills are instant, but healing isnt.
Ele: automatically supports in their own playstyle. They dont have to sacrifice damage, and has alot of aoe might stacks. They dont sacrifice damage at all
Engi: perma weakness, some cripple, easily 25 vulnerability and alot of blast finishers. Has to sacrifice damage to get the weakness cripple and healing, though.

Maybe… if they merged it, buffed it and added “deception uses ground targeting”, it would be a bit usefull in very specific situations :/.

So it would be: _you have retaliation and chaos armour while downed (permanent). Deception uses ground targeting.

It would be somewhat usefull in open world leveling, and in dungeons wit environmnetal hazards you can get downed in. Like lava or electric floors.

• IMO Cleansing Conflageration makes more sense in Chaos, but it would be annoying in some builds.

• Signet Mastery doesnt really ‘fit’ in Domination, only 1 signet is control based.

• Malicious sorcery… Scepter or condition damage jsut has nothing to do with inspiration. Maybe swap it with phantasm haste?

Thats true, but Im looking at it from a different perspective.

If Im not mistaken, this is more of a subscription-sort of thing where the non-mes isnt just paying for one portal; they’re paying 10s (or whatever) to have a Meamer on-call to port them for whatever they need. jumpinng puzzles, map completion, dungeon runs, maybe even some wvw help? In any event they’re pulling the mesmer away for what could be quite some time depending on their needs.

I think its worth exploring. Could be a complete flop, but we wouldnt know unless we tried. Either way we’ve nothing to lose and potential profit to gain.

Sounds like its worht a try, actually. We could make a seperate guild for people who are willing to port. A person who wants to get ported simply picks someone from the list of members ranked as ‘porter’ and whispers, or something.

I know some people leave their mesmers afk in jumping puzzles forever, and in that case it could be in the message of the day or something.

edit: what are we going to do with the money O.o upgrades and stuff dont do much since its only for 1 server :/ Maybe it can fund the rewards for contests and stuff :o

If someone asks what is best for a situation, it’s not appropriate to say “play how you want”, the most you should stretch yourself is by saying “X is the best weapon for situation Y, but if uncomfortable using X, then use Z”. And you do make a point, Im sure there are others with a very aggresive writing style, that get defensive on subjects like this, myself included in past threads, I think. But im not an everyday “hate for the sake of hating” person. Im actually a very decent Mesmer who doesnt believe things untill I saw it myself. Things like “X isnt viable” or “you cant kill a necro without condi removal”. I actually have been using alot of sword/sword lately, all because of one of the first discussions here.

Its a usefull discussion, thats not the problem. The problem is that calling people “useless to their team, they might aswell not exist” has a very negative effect on them. Usually that makes them go defensive or upset instead of going “oh, I never thought about thag before, now I can improve my dps by 500%”!

I feel like if you replaced all possibly offending words with slightly more neutral words, some people would suddenly start listening. There sill always be others that judge you by your name or past, but those dont matter anyway.

Yesterday I found this thing. Im not sure exactly what it is, but im pretty sure the top is the best way to disagree with something, and the bottom is the worst.
Right now, youre using counter arguments, which is great and already very high. “Sword does higher dps and gives you 2 good single target phantasms instead of one”. Its a very good counter argument.
The people who “hate for the sake of hating” are mostly in the yellow and lower part, responding to tone. Judging by this, I’d say you automatically win the argument, even though the yellow people dont accept it. However, all those people complaining looks really bad on an awesome forum like this, and the trick would be to change your tone on such a way, that they cant critisize it.

You dont have to respond to “yellow people”, because you already beat them. You also dont have to repeat or improve your argument, because those same people add nothing new to the discussion you can respond to.

All you can do is make them completely dissapear by changing your tone.

Im not saying you have to change alot, just a few words here in there :/.

Dodge. Blurred frenzy or leap is very easy to spot.

If you dont have energy left,, a scepter isnt going to save you. Unless youre an elementalist and blind the mesmer so the immobilize misses.

Edit: didnt read the other range weapons part… You can wave the clone away if youre fast enough. But you really shouldnt run out of energy with the perma viglr we have :P

You know… I always thought you had alot of ‘teaching’ potential and knew alot about dungeoning, and I still do. I’ve got to admit I never bothered going with double sword mainhand, and I’ve definitely been missing out.
Helping people makes you feel fullfilled, like you’re doing something kind/important, and thats a good thing! It means you’re good at something, and want to help those who are less fortunate with talents like yours.

Do you ever ask yourself why? What is the difference between in-game and forum? How is iZerker “burst”? Since the final boss is an object, on 0/20/0/25/25 you’ll deal about 2.7k damage (+ any might stacks if you have any) versus the 2.4k on duelist and 2.2k on swordsman. Plus if you had sword on both main hands you could swap between your two off-hands to get 3 phants up if you wanted to while still dealing nice auto damage.

I still can’t figure out how a phantasm that deals slightly higher damage per cycle, but has a slower recharge than the two best DPS phantasms is meant to be considered “burst”. Do you just mean tagging mobs?

The thing with GW2 dungeons is that you don’t need optimal builds and comps to complete them, outside of fotm 40+.

This is still not an excuse to use bad traits, bad gear and bad weapons. On my warrior I have off-hand maces of smothering, seeking and undead slaying even though COE an COF are faceroll. Not saying everyone should do the same, but in those cases, at least night and force.

Also, thanks to whoever reported me on this forum four days ago, you earned me a suspension, a removed signature and 15 minutes cooldown between posts, got to love how asking someone to play good is “rude, condescending or inflammatory”.

I use sword about 95% of the time, so my onvious choice would be to go with the bolt… But i hate bolt. I prefer the look of my super sword :/.

For dungeobs, go 10/30/0/30/0.

For wvw 10/30/0/0/30 to down people in about 0.7 seconds :P

OK, I will explain as best I can, since I have some technical difficulties with my computer and need to get that fixed as I have said in my other post.

Also, before I start, I never said that MY hybrid build comes into play here. I meant AnY hybrid build

Best way to defeat PU blackwater is to be able to cleanse as Much conditions as he can, which is just trait with torch.

With some form of good Power DPs Phantasm, you are able to keep the pressure of around 3k phantasms against the build, and if you have good crit chance, you can easily do 100 bleed stacks and around 1000 confusion with good condi damage. Now taking into account that blackwater mostly focuses on Condition, which means he lacks most of other DPS parts.

Blackwater build usually does about 130 bleed ticks and around 1-2k confusion, while having around 2k phantasm attacks

While a hybrid build can do 100 bleed ticks with about 1k confusion and 3-4k phantasms against blackwater.

Not much difference here, except the fact that hybrid has better damage compile over time, which means it is able to eventually finish off the blackwater. Not accounting the confusion, because it is very easy to cleanse these days with Mage apprently. Also, you can try to dodge the scepter attacks.

If a good hybrid build has over 2700 armor and around same health as blackwater, then it is all set to challenge it.

Now I’m not sayin either one is gonna beat the other, I’m just saying the hybrid has the better chance of beating the blackwater. I don’t know what part of all of my previous posts you didn’t understand, but this is as best I can to explain it.

That makes sense… Except:

Combat in gw2 is highly skill based, especially high active defense professions like the mesmer. It depends on the players to decide who wins, not builds.

So basically a hybrid would be able to beat it.

I know engineers are considered the “least played class”

But where do theives and mesmers lie in that? I don’t like playing overplayed classes.

I’m namely thinking in terms of WvW roaming.

Mesmer is the least played profession, 10% of the whole population. Engineers were 7th with 11%, warriors top played with 17%, I think.

All professions have “outlast” playstyles, but all require you to attack. In the best scenario with a duelling phantasm build, you never attack, just summin phantasms and focus on surviving :P

Ranger is very “outlasty”, simply because they have no burst spec :/. With mesmer you have the freedom of changing from outlast to burst with a simple trait reset :P. (although most professions do).

Id recommend trying them all out in spvp, you indtantly have acces to best stats + traits, so you dont have to grind or anything :P

You can render it in your video pad thing, and drop the video in your new editing software. You’ll lose sone quality, and you cant edit past edits, though.

I have no idea how video pad saves projects (i never even heard of it), but you can maybe see if your new editor can open it. Its unlikely, though :/. Most editors use their own extension.

I think they should make confusion from combos last 10 seconds base. Its just not worth it to waste a projectile and get 5 seconds.

Does anyone know if they fixed the wastrels punishment bug? It reduced damage :o

It answers any questions you may have, but it does take the fun of off exploring everything yourself ;).

Here we have experienced Mesmers who want to dedicate their time to helping you ^__^.

That said, I recommend you use power gear for leveling, and try out all the weapons to see which fits your style. GS has best ranged damage, though. as your alternate set, try sword/focus for aoe and swiftness.

You know, giving a build healing potential doesnt make it a full healer with 0 dps >_>.

Mesmer is a specialist profession, sure. You have to focus your build to be effective, but you can focus on several thongs at once.

Colesy is just too narrow minded to step outside his “dps speedrun” world to see it. Just go away, you contribute nothing to this forum.

Sounds like youre looking for a phantasm mesmer!

For this playstyle, you let your phantasms do damage, and all you do is survive.

You have 2 blocks, perma vigor, blurred frenzy, 2 stealths, and you just troll/kite your opponent to death while they waste time trying to:

1. hit you
2. kill your phantasms

The whole style is “outlasting” your opponent (which is extremely easy on a mesmer, we have some of the most actuve defense)

You pay way too much for just +5 :/.

And toughness is the best for survival imo. Vit is kind of like a wasted stat, it doesnt do anything in longer battles.

You can try condition. Its easy to survive with due to alot of stealths, and does pretty good damage too. The downside is that you cant catch runners, or burst soneone down in seconds. Try the ‘blackwater mesmer’ somewhere in this forum. Im currently on mobile so i cant properly link stuff >__<.

You can also try phantasm, with sword pistol/greatsword, youre better at catching runners due to the stun/cripple/immobilize. You can also let your phantasms do damage while you focus on surviving. Use direct damage gear, and 10/10/0/25/0 traits.
Or you can go scepter/sword sword/pistol to be OP in 1v1 and win everything :P

For even more mobility/burst, try shatter. Shatter focusses on getting illusions out, and just shattering them for burst damage. 3 illusions+blurred frenzy is usually instant down for most people you meet in roaming. If they survive the initial burst, you still have plenty if evades/teleports/stealth to troll them for 12 seconds untill your burst recharges. Direct damage gear with a 0/20/0/0/30 build, with a main hand sword. 10 domination makes your burst more… bursty.

Ugh. One of these again.

Also, our power in zerg v zerg lies in utility: healing/reflects/boon stripping and sharing/condiyion removal etc. sadly, thats traded for aoe damage (but you have enough to tag most) :c

I would suggest going with whichever you like the looks of the most.

Inexperienced players will get facerolled, because they dont know hos to counter you anyway.
Experienced players will predict what you’ll do, and counter it without going for animations.
Things like phantasm summons and leap are still easy to see 1v1, but harder in a team fight. Same goes for all races though.

edit: Im glad you found something you liked ^__^. Just for the record: like thief, Mesmer has high burst specs, stealth, style and mobility! I was so tunnelvisioned on the guild, I forgot what mesmer actually plays like :C. Oh well, its easy to try everything anyway :D

While I dont get this issue in game as much as some claim they get, the times I do is very frustrating >__<

Where are Glamour builds standing nowadays? I haven’t been on in a while and used to run Pyro Atheists Immortal Mesmer build, and the rumor is that retaliation in WvW isn’t very good anymore so I need to find something new. We could disrupt a zerg back in the day with glams, or at least it always looked that way when I was on my Engi (that’s why I rolled a Mesmer in the first place). Any ideas or builds still in beta testing at the moment?

Glamour builds are there, but glamour confusion builds were nerfed into oblivion :’(
They found that it “punishes mindless skill spamming”, which is exactly what confusion was designed for to do.

The immortal mesmer isnt viable anymore, but pyro is making a new one that will probably be pretty awesome.

Every profession can be made useful everywhere. That doesn’t mean you have to sugarcoat everything and deny fault. The Mesmer lacks damage contribution in zergs and suffers in PvP due to the condi meta. They’re the two primary downfalls of the Mesmer right now. They’re still one of the, if not the, best utility professions for both dungeons and WvW, but don’t expect to be putting out loads of damage in comparison to other professions with superior AoE and DPS.

Overall, they remain one of the game’s most versatile classes. Top dueling and skirmishing profession, alongside the Thief. Best utility skills in the game. Wide variety of builds; direct damage, condition, support, etc.

The Mesmer itself, IMO, has no major issues right now. The problem, in terms of PvP, is that other classes are too much. Conditions in general need to be toned down, and builds like the S/D Thief need some tweaking, both of which are apparently coming.

For single target dps, Mesmer comes 2nd or 3rd place, though.

Id like some more aoe damage, sure, but anet would have to be really carefull where to put it. We have to sacrifice utility for damage, or you get a uber profession thats good at everything (damage/boons/boon stripping/redlects etc).

I would argue that conditions are the reason why mesmer is being pushed out of spvp, because conditions can be evadedjust like a direct damage skill, and mesmer has some of the best evasion out of all professions. They just have been over buffing others, like stunlock warrior and spirit ranger. They require almost no skill to be good with :/.

That said, Mesmer is still awesome in pvp, just harder compared to faceroll professions >_<.

Nothing special and much more expensive than some better skins.

They should add these rewards to the achievemt reward items, with the zenith weapons so you can get as much as you like :0.
