It was great hanging with a few of you in the new arena last night. There was some great conversation, dueling and theory-crafting. I can already see the immense benefit.

A couple people who were with us didn’t know about the arena. If you’d like to access it, do a search in the PvP game browser for [OMFG] and it should show up. Only members of the OMFG guild can access it. The password is listed in the message of the day for our guild (same password as our teamspeak channel).

That said/sobbed, I think custom arenas are just way too expensive. Its like 90 gold for 1 month O.o i really would buy one if it was like.. 40, 40 sounds reasonable.

I recommend Pyro’s supporting phantasm build
It uses half berserker/half soldier, so it will have more survivability than most other builds, while still keeping amazing damage and support!

1. You can interupt bosses that have defiant. It wont interupt the skill, but interupt traits will proc.
2. 3s every 15s is 20% uptime.

Have a couple folk running MoConc. and some nasty boon duration buffing? Could cover the Stability issue, come 10/15. Also, been ages since I did PvP, is TW still golden for a team comp?

Time warp isnt used much more… Then again, mesmers arent used at all in tourneys >____________<.

That said, I like moa for bunker busting. Theyre surprisingly squishy without heals/blocks/protection.
Moa is also usefull for stopping revives etc.

I have no idea what a grimoire is, but it sounds really nice!

I dont really like the madness part though, so ill go with Tome of Lyssa. To me Mesmer is much more than “chaos” or “madness”, and lyssa kind of mixes everything instead of piegeonholing it in a single side if the mesmer, imo.

Imo, phantasms shouldnt use legendary weapons, but rather just have the aura/footprints.
Legendariss change our skills, and phantasma are our skills. Sure, they use their own weapon, but we can sill imbue pretty auras/footsteps in them, right?

There, the loser goes back to spectate, so only the best/luckiest will stay to fight.

Chances are youll face someone with Pyro’s skill level… On another profession.

Atleast, I think pyro is pretty good? I actually never saw him in action ;0.

I did hear the duration is much longer than our actual confusion skills… Its kind of silly runes are better for vonfusion than mesmers, imo. Runes should be a small bonus, not your highest source of damage :P.

The offhand sword doesnt do much for condition builds.

The pistol is a good choice for the phantasm, because its multi hit, and thus applies more bleeding.

Condition mesmers arent very good in pve, btw :/.

In high level (48) fractals i run 10/10/20/30, with a full cleric set with altruism and a berserker/knight with traveler.

For trash groups I use clerics clothes and berserker trinkets, i try not to shatter my wardens and warlocks, because most professions already have perma vigor. Damage from the warden and sword is pretty good, and you still get 200-250ish heals.

Sometimes support just isnt usefull, so i swap the staff with a greatsword and damage gear.

Like in certain boss fights where you have to split up, or die in aoe. Supplying 1 or 2 with boons is just a waste :P. I still use mantra healing, which heals 2700 with 300 healing power.

Mantra heals are spammable, so it will keep decent teams at 100% most of the time.

There also should be someone who can boonstrip at mid at all times. It would be very effective to revive in a chaos storm while stripping stability :o. Still RNG, but effective :P.

Also, support is more than just healing. Something like:

reflect a projectile attack that would do 20k damage to the party or heal 1.2k aoe per second
Now, lets say you choose to reflect the attack. You pretty much “healed” for 100k.
If you chose to dpam heals, everyone below 20k hp wouldd be downed :P.

That said, mesmer/engi/guardian/ele have acces to some of the best support, so if you choose one of those, you should be good.

For sigils, you mentioned hydromancy which sounds like a good choice or energy for perma-clones since you’re going for some clone on death traits.
Runes … could go with some passive condition management ones like hoelbrak or melandru.

Was thinking of using Orrian Truffle & Meat Stew for my dodging concerns so I can stick with the Hydromancy sigils. I’m leaning towards 2x Ice /2x Sanctuary /2x Svanir and a chill sigil… I really wanna push that chill.

Theres a food that has a 40% to inflict chill on crit for no cooldown :O.

Depends on the group.

If it can handle itself ill go knight head/shoulder/coat/skirt, rest berserker.
I carry: super sword of fire, winter’s slice of perception, pact pistol(but im going to buy a new one soon), super staff of battle, zenith avenger of fire, the anomaly of battle, fractal torch of force… I think thats everything!

I have a mainhand sword equipped most of the time, and i run 10/10/20/30. A phantasm build that doubles as a boon support build if needed.

I usually run healing mantras, so i have something to do if i cant melee a boss for a while, with mantra of pain and recovery.

I swap traits, weapons and gear for nearly every encounter, I carry a full berserker set and clerics too. Also cavalier/knights trinkets if i want to go half berserker/half toughness.

I think I got everything now :P

You can actually make a decent healer, but just spamming heals is not recommended.

All you realy need is 20 inspiration and mantra of pain and recovery.

It scales horribly with healing power, so you dont have to change gear if you just want to add healing to your normal build.

The Chaos Maestro in the post above is also one of the best boon support guides out there, go try it!

But its really only about the look, racials are rarely used.

Occasionally i use grasping vines, which is a 7 second immobilize on 45 cooldown. Great for the dredge fractal boss and grawl prisoners :P

Well, i guess theyre not real physics :/. But rather animations that fit with how you move.

Im kind if jealous of how males attack with a sword, from right to left on the first hit just looks way cooler :o.

Also, melee with a greatsword…. Males stab on the 3rd hit O.o that doesnt make much sense at all with such a huge sword ;P

After a few months of having human characters, im also starting to dislike the pdysiques :/. Theres only 1 with really healthy looking legs, but for some reason they also inflated the boobs to like an E cup. I wish we had body sliders .__.

I think human females “bounce” alot in the way they run… I dont really like it.
I dont really pay much attention to the male animations, so i cant really judge :P

I consider 300-350 from regeneration pretty high. I think 1500ish gets you there, cant check atm though.

The T2 light “boots” (roots :P) have 2 dyes areas too, but only 1 works.

I really like the smaller body types for females… But there really isnt enough choice if you want to go for the bigger breasts. Theres pretty much 1, and the other body types are way smaller, theres not really a middle ground im happy with :C

I really like ths current one though, humans with the biggest breast size have really thin legs, where the sylvaris look more healthy.

Logic: legendary weapons change the user’s skills. Technically, clones and phantasms are Our skills, so they should get the aura and footsteps!

Clones have off hand weapons now :o.

Maybe they get auras and footsteps? I heard the quip aura is a pretty blue/purple one.

Ive really only played shatter in tournaments, but i have enough pvp experience with other builds too, if the situation calls for it.

I prefer battle. 3 stacks last about 40 seconds on boon support builds, which gives 12 perma might if you continoously swap.
Sigil of strength mightl last maybe 5 second base.

I only use sigil of perception on high defense pvp build where i need some crit chance. I like keeping it atleast 40%, but thats personal preference.

edit: im too tired tothink properly >_<. I always use perception in pvp. Better proccing sigils, better burst damage etc.

I still shatter in pvp and dont really see it being “dead”.

Although, some professions got faceroll builds where they have alot of room for error and extremely high damsge.

Im looking at stunlock war, condi necro and spirit ranger…

You have to have an extremely good reaction if you want to counter a hammer… All they have to do is manage cooldowns/combos and let passive regen do its work. Their tankiness allows plenty mistakes, while we can lose about 50% hp in seconds if we make a mistake.
I still enjoy fighting these though. Pve boss fights should be stunlock warriors! (Quick telegraphed mobile moves that dont deal 20k damage, but actually feels like it had an impact without killing you)

I dont really have trouble with condi necro… unless they use plague signet.
Activation is pretty much instant and nukes the kitten out of you…
Just the other day i got a necro to 33%, me being 80%… He used the plague signet.
From that point i was unable to damage or evade him, and i got nuked in about 7 seconds >__<.

A spirit ranger is really passive when it comes to combat… The auto attack does the highest damage and you have to avoid it somehow x.x

Shatter isnt dead. Its a medium reward/extremely high risk build.

Fotm builds have a very low skill floor and are very effective with minimal effort >__<.

I love shatter and i will insist on playing it untill the day they remove illusionary persona or spmething >_>

I like combat :P. its fast paced and skill based, instead of a massive gear check.

I like not having to grind, but improve myself instead of my gear.

I dont like bunkers… But I like how every profession has atleast a few viable builds and youre not suicidal if you dont run the flavour if the month.

Yesterday i was fighting a eandom engi who was on 75%, abd i was on condition, so it wouldnt go down as fast…

boom dead. Apoarrently some warrior killshotted him, but it took me 10 seconds to realize :P

I dont think any player who knows what theyre doing actually struggles to seperate clones from the mesmer…

Ugh, you guys are right, daze isn’t a condition, it’s a control effect like stun and can only be cleared via a stun break or waiting. These are the effects which fall under that category:

Hmm, then does daze have any advantage over stun? When the player also has torment maybe? You know when they panic and don’t use a stun breaker and run away instead? XD

Yeah really the difference between the two is that dazed opponents can move – they just can’t use any skills (except stun breakers). Stunned opponents can’t move (complete lockdown). For NPC’s, a daze is pretty much identical to a stun since a daze will prevent them from moving.

As I mentioned before, when effected by Daze, attempts to use skills will be interrupted. When Stunned you are inhibited from even attempting a skill.

If it were, i could press 1 8 times while dazed by a mesmer with halting strike, and die… or worse :0!

When affected by any control effect, including daze, its like all your skills go on cooldown for the duration of the effect. (Just look at how the skill bar changes :o) instant ones dont go on cooldown, ofcourse.

So you cant even attempt a skill while dazed, just like stunned :P.

I will ocassionally shoot a vey quick glance at long cooldown things to see which are up, but with short ones i kind of “know” when theyre up without looking. Like phase retreat, blurred frenzy, illusionqry leap… Sometimes even blink and decoy :P

I hate being chilled, it really messes plannig and my internal clock up >_<.

In really intense duels i tend to tunnel vission on CDs though…

Just the other day i was using mind crush vs a shatter mesmer, he was 80% health and i was sitting on 2k… I desperatly kited and chained dazes, keeping me on the edge of my seat… After 20ish seconds i was out of, well, everything. signet of domination was on a 3S CD, so i mashed the button in the hopes to get a last stun of and pull in a win. After 3 long seconds i finally use the signet….
… On a downed mesmer. Then i get shot in the face by a warlock.

Turned out he was downed like 4 seconds before i used the signet :P.

My recommendation is to just go full phantasm and stack 3 wardens on the head. They will protect each other and never die up there. That way, you just have to worry about surviving.

Hmm, Maybe ill try going 10/10/25/25/0 in my berserker/knight/cavalier mix + boon support runes… Get 3 wardens out and go back to doing other stuff ^__^.

I guess ill lose out on some regen and most aoe vigor… But vigor does nothing, seeing the average player doesnt bother dodging water/poison >__<

I used the spec i still was using from my laat dungeon, which is the Chaos Maestro boon support one.

Since its not a tagfest and have to autoatrack stuff and stuff, I simply kept 4 people supplied with:

• perma regen
• perma vigor
• perma 3 might and 50% 12 might
• 33% protection
• 33% fury
• 3k aoe heals every 3 seconds.
• etc
  Sadly, theres no point in giving vigor when they cant locate and properly press rheir dodge key >_<

Anyway, I like only getting rewards at the end, it doesnt make me feel left out for not going after “dem phat lewtz”.

The confusion only lasts for as long the channel lasts, right?

Maybe 10 stacks for 1-2 second would be more… humane.

This skill already has a huge windup time…. Interesting idea.

Yeah, as Alissah mentioned, daze/immobilize are conditions and the only way to get rid of it is to wait it out or cleanse. Those and other cc conditions such as chill/cripple/blind also are affected by condition duration, to a 1/4 second (I’ve personally tested). So even small amounts of condition duration are useful in extending these.

Im pretty sure you cant condition cleanse daze :o.
