Make a new level 1 character and experience in the levelling process by exploring maps, before you’ve seen it all raced through at 80.
Good luck!
Remove merit costs.
Amalgamate guild influence (apparently in development?)
I feel there is too much value in having the events in public areas, for individuals to randomly happen up, for ANet to offer instances (a la custom arenas, as I also posed in the past, to much disdain.) that said, it is also a valuable way of introducing new players to the guilds.
Every night, i see the map chatter of people who see the TTS zerg roll in, and field the questions of prospective members.
Positive and committed communities are the ambassadors of the game.
Perhaps it is ArenaNET’s goal to get us out about in the world to spread our enjoyment.
It appears to need some fine tuning, but what this patch has shown is that the makers of Tyria are listening to the needs of the player base.
I picked it up from.. Guild Wars 1. HA.
If you need a challenge, try to run through higher level areas grabbing waypoints without getting insta-killed by the high level mobs
Rez downed players in event circles to get rewards when they are completed (you can be anywhere on the map when the event ends, as long as you don’t leave the map).
I love levelling rangers.. 1 @ 80, 1 @ 70, 2-3 in the 20’s and 1 @ 4 right now. I always use lb/sb because I like the mix of long range to stay out of danger and fast firing for lots of tags.
Maybe this isn’t the recommended approach, but it works for me. I have 80’s in all classes and Ranger is my favourite, even though I spend more time on my guardian.
Swiftness is vitally important.
How should I train my Ranger? for level 80?
In a few days, the whole trait points system is going to be different, including the ability to change trait points at no charge.
Right now, I use traits that increase range for bows, and especially important to me is piercing shot (or whatever it is), which means that if you target enemies at the back of the mob, you will also damage enemies between yourself and the target. Circling the group and firing this way often catches me more tagged enemies than dropping an AOE trap. More tagged enemies = more loot opportunities.
You just happen to be in a low pop server.
Guest to Tarnished Coast or Blackgate right now, and starting on the 15th, you should see more people as the “megaserver” system kicks in for smaller worlds.
I play usually 9-midnight PST, earlier on Tue/Thur/Sat nights, and usually all day on Sunday.
Good luck!

Interleave 3 copies of the schedule at 2 hour intervals.
Is there a need to limit bosses to only spawning one at a time, in all of Tyria, every 15 minutes,?
Perhaps the intention is to encourage people to play the rest of the content…
Bobble head Tequatl was a joy to kill tonight
Had six people camping the end of the “darkness” area. I was of course annoyed to have made it through that section, only to get splattered by the enemy.
I waited, dead, on the floor, and kept the rest of my team’s jumpers notified until a good squad of ours organized, ported up and cleared them out.
Patience and teamwork.
I was in position #32, entered EoTM and it went to #33. I played for a bit, it never dropped a bit (was going down steadily before that from 83 at 1 hour previous). The EoTM game ended and kicked me down to Gandaran. I checked, and my position moved to #1.
Now, over an hour and a half later, I’m still in position #1.
I’ve gone to EoTM again, and the jumping puzzle. no change. Yayyy I’m number 1.
Where is the speed booster NPC in Rata Sum?
Every time through map completion, the mix of better hardware and improved game engine results in a new appreciation for the beauty of the maps. I want to live in Tyria, IRL
For me it means that I am considering making eternity out of my twilight and sunrise, as I can still have a “fake” twilight as my secondary, skinned into an ascended with the same stats I always use.
It also means that I might be less likely to use some of the other rare skins I have kicking around..
I’m happy to have the opportunity to spread around my legendary skins and not concerned about them being more common.
Will this raise the price of greens and blues again as people rush to complete their sets? Maybe.
Will this increase demand for legendaries now that they can be used more than once?
Lots of speculation to be done, but it’s all guesses until the patch drops.
Is the ‘we’ perhaps you and your goldfish? Definitely not me.
Definitely another plus one here, and I’m not even a serious WvW player…
I am not in favour of duelling, because:
1. The core philosophy is cooperative in PvE.
2. Costume brawl
3. Two PvP modes already exist
4. Don’t want the confusion between enemies and duellers in PvE environment.
5. Interruption of large group events.
6. Chat requests to 1v1 if I have the proposed “switch” set to off.
7. More like WoW..
That said, I think there are plenty of ways to make duelling fit within the PvP modes of the game, like daily activities. Lfg duel?
In a game that offers gold for RL cash. If people use that cash to buy something that is then changed at a later date… this is open to false advertisement.
p.s…. I’m a development solicitor
So what you’re saying is that any software developer is liable to be sued if they change a line of code in their program after the initial sale? So having a living story, or even bug fixes, leaves game makers open to legal action?
Well, so much for innovation.
Kill all the lawyers.
I got the cut scene when I Wp’s to Archen Foreland Waypoint in Blacktide Coast (south entrance to LA)
4500+ hr. Very little AFK. Not bored at all.

Give the Chinese game P2W. Who cares? LOL geeeze go play the game for a change…
Frame rate is great… if you care to dump the money into a dual gtx770 or better system
.. I guess I do love the game !
The destruction of LA cut scene audio track was hoked to Environment , which is the only slider I set much lower than the rest. I thought that the music was badly levelled until I realized that it was linked as such. Maybe you are encountering something similar?
According to the latest Knights LS event, we’re being told specifically to focus on DPS builds… in preparation for the feature patch “nerf” to exactly the Zerker build. Wha?
Please kick the few of us who haven’t bought a zerker set, yet, until we finally do… Just in time for the feature patch to nerf it
I always have a steady stream of gold on hand. What I do:
1, buy limited run non account bound items (ex Karka minis)
2, keep everything I farms selling it only when it spikes for some reason, so if I need to craft anything I always have the mats
3, basic kits for all salvaging except Rares, which I use mystics
4, sell exotics above 2g, salvage ones below with the odd BL kit I have laying around
5, as many world bosses as I can every day
6, chains like melandru, with zergs, which scale up lots of mobs, much more opportunity for wealth than boss chests themselves.
I rarely do dungeons, never do fractals, WvW once in a while when I am running low on badges.
For me, 6 is probably the most important if you aren’t doing heavy trading. More kills, more loot.
My methods may not be the best, but I have crafted 4 legendaries (sold one) and only dungeon tokens would hold me back from making another at any time.
I have world completion 3 times and 10 level 80’s over about 4500 hours.
While waiting for Tequatl, I usually run a boss chain in Sparkfly to keep my drops-per-minute up
If you are running with a Zerg, do research to learn how to get the highest possible kill count. Sometimes Blackgate Zerg is too big and it’s easier to get kills on a mid sized server like Crystal Desert.
Good luck!
The chance is tricky, i’ll say why.
Let’s say you have a 20% of getting a yellow on an enemy.
—With 100% of magical find, you’ll have a 40% of getting a yellow.
—With 150% of magical find, you’ll have a 50% of getting a yellow.
However, that’s a percentage and you could just roll the dice and not get the 50% good one.Now let’s speak about Pre-legendary weapons (precursos, whatever). Let’s say you have a 0,001% of getting one on each enemy.
—With 100% of magical find you’ll have a 0,002%.
—With 150% of magical find you’ll have a 0,0025%.
So… in those cases magical find is really useless, the chance is still too little. That’s how it works. You won’t see more “special items” drops, just an increase in the average ones.
I’m not sure how you are calculating a 20% to 40% increase in drop rate with 100% MF.
every 100% improves your rare drop roll chance by 10%, so having 100% MF in your example increases the change of a rare to 30%, not 40%. at 150% MF, your increase is to 35%.
(see wiki —> 200% increases your roll chance from 1/10 (10%) to 3/10 (10%+20%) )
Also, it’s important to understand what is not affected by MF. Example: loot bags. MF only gets checked at drop time, not opening.. so if you buy a bunch of bags on the trading post, your MF will not affect the potential content vs. someone who doesn’t have any MF.
There was speculation that, as loot bags are “blue,” you may get LESS of them with increased MF.
PvE is about cooperation, therefore I find it counter to the core value proposition of the game mode.
Alas, as stated previously.. use your costume brawl tonics if PvP and WvW don’t satisfy the need.
Never once have I had the desire to pick a fight with another player in the game… that’s me.
I don’t want people dueling around me and confusing whatever is going on in the open world environment. That’s me and that’s my 2 cents.
Specific Game Mode:
PVE
Proposal Overview
Consistent ability to target and fire while moving.
Goal of Proposal
The current system sometimes requires that the player release forward movement keys before commencing fire upon a target with the short bow.
The proposal is to eliminate this limitation.
Proposal Functionality
Player shall always be able to select (by nearest or next target) and activate an attack skill on an enemy, using the short bow, without the need to briefly stop moving forward.
Associated Risks
Key control changes if this is a technical limitation.
Specific Game Mode:
PVE
Proposal Overview
Lock pet in “stowed” configuration
Goal of Proposal
1. Ranger is often locked in “combat mode” for longer periods than other classes, as the player must lose aggro on both the pet and themselves vs. just themselves.
2. Keep pet out of the way during jumping puzzles.
3. Avoid pet unstowing during falls.
Proposal Functionality
Add a third option to the stow/unstow button, LOCK, which stops the pet from unstowing when the player enters combat mode (though aggro or fall damage)
Associated Risks
1. Ranger players will ignore pets altogether.
2. Ranger players will expect buffs to character attack/defense when pet is lock stowed. (personally, I will take the damage effectiveness hit if it means I can lock stow my pet)
So there is really no reason to hold onto anything tradeable, or even buy before the price goes up too far, as it will eventually become available again.
This has so taken the wind out of my sails.
And Southsun Cove goes back to being a ghost island

Content wasn’t nerfed, they merely fixed the exploit of the event w/o using the phrase “exploit”.
Balance tweak and “exploit” fix are stated as two different things:
Fixed a bug that allowed each decapitated Great Jungle Wurm Head to be pulled out of its event radius. A small balance tweak has been made to account for this fix.
So this is a better idea for the person than putting it on the trading post for full price?
This no longer works across races. The “Account bound” T3 armor cannot be placed into the transmutation window when using a character of the incorrect race.
Is this the kind of punctuation, grammar and composition which these proverbial “we” of 30+ gamers you represent are capable of?
When you hear someone say “trust me,” it’s usually because you’re about to get.. meowed .
I have 529 days on my /age and I still play it every day. If you can’t find something to do, you’re not trying.
I use the loot/autoloot buttons often when I am in battle, and regularly end up with a (insert kitten word here) banner in my hand. (aside, a “real” autoloot no-button-required would be a wonderful QoL update here)
I haven’t tested specifically if it is when I am accidentally picking up banners..
Do any of you have the Auto Attack disabled on your characters?
I am one of the players who has suffered through losing my 1-5 skills during battles, forced find a way to get myself downed to fight again. Last night, after getting it twice during a single Marionette run, I realized something:
It only happens to me on my Guardian (I have 80’s in all classes)!
Why is this? My Guardian is different in one way from my other characters:
I have Auto Attack OFF on my “1” skills, which was recommended by a dev on the forums to overcome the skill lag race condition.
So, I turned Auto Attack ON again… and I have not had the problem since then.
When I play guardian, I have two greatswords equipped and I run around a lot, during play, using various planned combinations of the complete skill set:
6 Signet of Resolve
7 Stand Your Ground!
8 Save Yourselves!
9 Retreat!
0 Renewed Focus
Does this help developers with the problem, or is there already a fix coming down the pipe?
I’m happy that it’s fixed, but it does bother me that it hasn’t been addressed, as far as I have seen in the forums.
It started around the time that a patch claimed that the infinite 5 spin was “fixed,” which it wasn’t.. I never used to get it, now I get it every day or two.
Still love the game and thanks so much for all the efforts to keep making it better!
Oh, and you used to be able to get Southsun chests from a Mystic Forge Recipe, but that was removed around the second southsun event.
Reef Rider okay. Karka, Hatchling, Reef Drake from Southsun chests.
All I’m hearing is someone who is trying to get the price of the mini karka to drop so they can scoop some up
What difference does it make anyways? The supply in game now is still a big as right after the event because you cant consume, forge or bind those minis anyways. So if nobody deliberately destroyed them, there is no way that their accumulated supply on and off the tp will deplete.
Players who quit playing or have their accounts banned make them as much deleted as anything.
Oh ya, the Reef Rider, forgot that one.. I would expect it still to drop.
The Reef Drake was what I was thinking of.
Thanks, Nausicaa, for the sources against current drops.
Do you have a screenshot of this? How long did you farm the sharks for and how long ago did this happen? Thanks
Where have you seen the Mini Karka and Reef Rider drop? They were only available in southsun chests, which no longer exist. If this was correct, the Hatchlings would also still drop.
It happens to be in large groups, on average 1-2 times per night, when I am using my GS guardian.
I’ve NEVER had it happen with my shortbow/longbow Ranger.
And yep, months… makes me a little sad. Hopeful that it’s part of the “big patch”
