You are making so many errors in that sentence. They gave a part of community what they wanted. Now I’m representing another part of the community (no matter how small or big that part is), who never wanted to see this patch. I am very well aware that someone asked for this. Also you assume it is “good”. To be honest I could not care less whether I get 2 rares which I can sell for 20+20 silver, or I get 1 rare which I can sell for 40 silver. But I think it is plain bad to pull people to face stomp the same bosses over and over. Some of these doesn’t even have a pre-event. People come, kill the boss, move on. I don’t see how that is good, but it is subjective, as you clearly can see. And as you can see from other like minded people you are clearly pleased with the patch. But if you are all pleased, please argue your case and contribute to the discussion, or leave it to die if you have no input.

as i imagined the real problem is that more and more people get easily the mats they need (ecto) and greedy people cannot sell gold for 40s anymore.

as we all said, leveling is already useless in this game since there is downscaling, which is a great feature imo. the real difference you have between a lv 1 and a lv 80 is traits and stat armor…
i think people is suggesting to look at that kind of progression and tie it to a different thing than simply do x level harvesting heart.

it’s the point of wvwvw for example, if you go there the only difference is traits and gear between player, you can still go there at level 2 having hard time on your own but you can, that is what we are asking for if i didn’t misunderstand completely the point.

your reasoning was pretty clear. but most of people in this forum like blame, guilty and unhappiness at all cost. imo they need to complain about everything or they die without a crusade to fight.
there are classic complain ie. no mount no fun, female toons have to fight in bikini, fix my class nerf the thief etc, and flavor of the patch complains ie. fractal of the mists is the end of the world, dailies are impossible to complete. laurels are a crap currency, and now loot boost is ruining all life in the planet, foreigner from other server are stealing our jobs and marrying our wives.

doesn’t come to mind that being in an high populated server could means that its own population can cause overflow? if it happened in LA each time there was a festival event, why shouldn’t happen each time a dragon spawn these days?

do you really need to jump to another server to do events? i barely manage to jump from behemot to shatterer in my server, there are so many events occurring that sometimes i get back to LA just to rebreathe

i think i should buy a cosmetic armor for whatever price anet decides me to pay for BUT, since it is not a skin only, double click to apply as heritage, until i get the chance to buy or find fine transmutations stone i should equip it and be efficient as any karma/token armor in the game.

in metrica there was a poi in a lab locked by an asuran glass and no way to get inside… until i found how to get there (needed google to do it though).

i spent 525.000 karma for the obsidian shard without the blink of an eye, and with the rest of karma i had i bought the old orrian jeweller’s box and still have tons of jugs of liquid karma…
plus rebreather, some jewels i wanted when i was low level, all the crafting recipes for the 2 professions i have, some armor for the skin, and if i want i can still buy an entire set of temple armor and still have some jugs of karma.
karma is a not sinked currency and tie ascended to that instead of a currency you can earn once a day means exactly what i stated, no matter if you pay 1k, 10k, 100k, 1000k to have it.
or they have to nerf the way you obtain karma

my 2c since i have an opinion on the matter.
when i discovered gw2 had 80 level i was utterly disappointed.
i wondered what do you have to do to in this game that there is a need of 80 level?
when they first started to talk about creating gw2 they talked about 30 levels, and that design is still noticeable throughout the game. the real sense of achievement for leveling is capped at 30, when you have all the skill bar unlocked and the weapon swap.

the rest of the level are pretty useless,, you need them all for the sake of acquiring all the skill a profession have and all the traits.
but the part from level 30 to 80 is pretty boring. you can feel some emotion when you unlock the next trait tier (feeling that fade very fast when you look at the cost of manual).

so i agree that level progression is the most old and boring way to give players a sense of achievement. i like to progress, in story, in number of skills, in quality of life, in skins etc etc. but i don’t like the fact that some content is gated based on levels or even worst on equipment.
i never in gw1 felt like i had nothing to do after level cap was reached and i never managed to collect al the skills and skins.

every other mmo i played, since my first ragnarock online, always had this level system and i never managed to get level cap. never once before i quit bored to death by killing mobs to get levels and do nothing.

there was a game that i loved besides gw1 it was mabinogi, it had a very cheap graphic and had a very static combat system, but it was level free and class free, you could go wherever in the world to face monsters way beyond your ability and you also had way to avoid battle. you could improve your skill by using them, you could unlock skills through chain quests, you could wear what ever you liked because any armor or clothe in the game was merely skin with no stats and you have stat increase according to the skill you managed to improve. and even if this could lead the way to mindlessly using skills over and over to improve them, there was litterally no time to do it since there was a very deep and interesting storyline.
i loved mabinogi even if it was so strange to look at its mechanic after playing more smooth and appealing game graphicwise.
it had wonderful other feature like you could create if you were able to use the tool provided your very own armor style, make it to the fashon show and if winning have it implemented permanently to the game with your name attached to it.
and was free to play.
after years it was closed unfortunately.

now gw2, i still love it and levelling is not a big issue since i have 2 toons to max level and even both of them have 100% map completion.
and for me it is new since as i said i never managed to max level in any game.
so i wouldn’t really mind a level cap increase since it is pretty fast (i like it to be fast).

what i do mind is or it is useless due to downscaling system (so there is no real point in being at high level in low level maps) or there will be more gated content and gated gear that will outdate old content and old gear.
do we really need it? do we really need to see health raise to 6 digits and stat to 5? what is the problem in keeping the math simple?

the fact is that we are not supposed to track world event all day, we will be punished for our greediness. they did with all the event that were overfarmed/failed on purpose to farm

i didn’t said i know a guy who know a guy etc. lot of people who claimed to have it said it was found at shadow behemot… and they were right, so there is proof. but if you want to mistrust everyone be my guest, why should i care for your paranoia?

it is there, just it doesn’t work often, but you can actually right click on a name and ivite him/her in party

you realize that you gain karma from lv 1 and that would mean by the time you get lv 80 you can buy all the ascended items listed by the laurel vendor in 1 second without even bother to make a wise choice. also you propose that karma reward in dungeon become basically account bound with jugs of liquid karma (so you don’t have to bother to actually play a character in order to buy all the ascended items as said above).
why don’t dream about a patch note where you’ll be mailed all new equipment directly to all character in your account?

final rest was dropped before the new patch, and people who found it said loud and clear that it was a shadow behemot item. but nobody believed because all of them kept it or exchanged for other weapon, for example an ex guildie said it had it and exchanged it for the crossing during halloween.

Well there is only one POI where you can look all over you map and see nothing missing then go and find a map online and still find nothing missing but the game tells you that you are missing 1 POI.

the fact is that all the other class, mesmers included, if they go full berserker to maximize damage they need to be way too good to survive in pvp (pve is easier maybe not in dungeon but most of the time). while thieves just become invisible every few seconds.
so they can deal huge damage surviving quite good.
there are surely a lot of counters but sometimes they are not enough due to cooldown.
they not only can become invisible, they also can teleport away. leaving you to hit thin air and laughing at 10000 distance. mesmer portal and teleport only dreams to go that far and have long cooldown and few seconds of duration

edit: you rarely see mesmers using portals in the thick of the fight, it is a very useful but situational skill. and btw mesmer portals are quite visible to all enemies

not a huge fan of pvp either, but i completed twice and the wvwvw maps were the easier to complete. you just have to go there and visit the keeps and tower your server has conquered. you don’t have to pay for waypoints and you don’t have to discover them (if they are there anyway).
lots of vista and a good number of POI and all the skill points you don’t have to wait they are conquered and can easily skip the fight.

btw wvwvw is not even a real pvp most of the time it’s like fighting in a huge more challenging pve meta event and to conquer keeps you kill an npc.

there is a real problem though if your server is losing all the time, in fact this could slow the process. anyhow just go there and see for yourself what is it about. can be fun and thrilling, i promise.

streets in this game are waypoint… and you pay for that.
i always paid for my travels and i never managed to finish all my money just for that. i never used the heart of the mist excamotage because i prefer pay than have 2 loading screens.

besides, if you die with 0 coins, you can waypoint for free.

i don’t know you, but i could replay the arah story mode (which is the final battle you lost if understood well) with my main so many times that i cannot bear it any more of it… but i will still do it for my guild mates.

if you are the first to enter the istance you will also be the one in the cinematic. maybe your Arkham had a vision without the ending part. now you have to live it and see what’s ahed.

about legendary i don’t know what to say, but it is up to you, you can still craft one even if you wouldn’t use one all the time.

fractals… well the concept around ascended gear and gear treadmill may have ruined your perception of that dungeon.

but i suggest you to try it once, at least to discover the story there you might be surprised by some lore, expecially if you know guild wars 1.
you can do very fine until lv 10 without agony resistance, and if you get involved and interested the ascended gear will come easily (at least rings).
if you care about skins there are pretty nice ascended back pack that can keep you busy for a while. check them out.

you can find some ember elemental after high priestess of lyssa has been defeated in malchor’s leap at the cathedral of radiance.
there are all kind of elemental there, just pick one and pray the luck.
they are there only when lyssa has been defeated though

i don’t know about specific skill for asura, but you surely want to slot quickening zephir in your arsenal

according to me it depends on zone, and general preferences.
if you want to play in a server where you can find many player from your nation, or your native language speaker, if you want crowded area or nearly empty area, if you want very hard frustrating pvp, or some easy great number victory.

for me the choice was the server chosen before by my friends, than made new friends there. it is though a medium populated server so world vs world kind of pvp can be very frustrating when you are against a high populated server.
pve and events in open world are often running smoothly though, and you can always be guest in another server for free (non in world vs world though).
so its really kind up to your preferences.

for single pvp server doesn’t really matter.

i don’t know if it is a glitch or intended, in the meanwhile you can bind a key to weapon wielding so you can click it and wield your weapon even if you are not in combat

you’ll go there eventually if you follow the storyline. if not, from lion’s arch, go south to bloodtide coast, south to sparkfly fen, west to mount maelstrom and than west to straits of devastation (which is one of orr maps).
if i remember correctly this is the way. i use so much the waypoints that i have just a general idea.

i use 2 sets, one with a bit of magic find and one with not. the magic find set is not full but even if less tha 100% magica find, i have barely 65% i notice a difference both in quality and quantity.
when i farm with my boyfriend and he uses his magic find set (he has more magic find than me) i can also see the difference between us.
in an hour in frost gorge for corrupted lodestone he found 3 i found 2

i like the way it is. and btw i noticed a huge difference from being lv 10 and being lv 80 scaled to 10.
i don’t want to oneshot things around the world and i don’t like the idea of people oneshotting things in low level areas where new players or new characters are adventuring. it would be the first step toward griefing.
and there is already some subtle stuff out there!

the system as it is it’s fine, i can still risk being downed and make more sense to me than u bunch of mobs running mindlessly into suicide when they meet me in low level area just because they are programmed to do so, or ignoring me because i’m too a big threat for them.

for a true feeling of overkills there are still the bunnies all around the world
