i’m also tired of people talking about mesmer and only noticing time warps or portal.
i use portals only in jumping puzzle.
a staff mesmer is a good conditioner and almost immortal. my focus skills can reflect projectiles and every single phantasm i create regenerate allies health. i didn’t put any point in power. i’m slower than my ranger in single target pve damage, but i can solo everywhere but dungeon.
mesmer skills in general can reflect projectiles, stun, daze, create confusion, apply random conditions, remove conditions, applay boon, tranfer boon, steal boon end transfer conditions, can teleport, apply regeneration to self etc etc. and still people only thinks mesmer are portaler, speed giver and focused on power traits.

you can find lodestones in the old orrian jewel box for karma.

you can also craft it at level 50 crafting

i’d like to add that if you join a party member story mode, when he completes the steps that give story achievement you should also have the possibility to unlock the same achievement so you don’t have to play all the races in the game to have it.

So basically, you do not want to spend a large amount gold kind of like how you did not have to spend a lot of gold for t6 materials.

Right now, the other two money gifts cost between 200g-400g (this is a rough estimate). So all of a sudden 600g is a problem.

Honestly, this thread sounds like someone wants to be spoon fed the rest of the way.
I really hope if they ever implement the scavenger hunt you have to spend 600g+.

Thats not the case at all, Aquiring a legendary should be uniqe. Not farming the same thing over and over to get the gold and buying it off the trade post. If I wanted I could get my Dusk in 4-5 weeks non stop farming CoF.. I’ve made 140g the last two weeks doing CoF + Fractals.

But, you know, it gets boring.. I want something different, it doesnt matter if it takes 4 months to complete as long as it’s not grinding the best way to get gold over and over..

So basically, now you are changing the point of your topic from being: “I want a precursor easy” to “make legendaries not a grind.”

As of now, to effectively “buy” a gift a fortune it would cost you 509.24g off of todays market and this estimate was done off of highest buy order (not lowest seller) and a person averaging average on the RNG of mystic clovers. You could effective add or subtract another 50g+ to that number.

Why doesn’t no one complain about the cost of gift of fortune? It is as variable to market movements as much as the precursor is.

Ill tell you why: its because the actual cost of it is effectively hidden, and players actually have to use concepts like “math” to realize how much it costs.

of course if you calculate how much it cost to do it you realize it is not cheap, still i have my 77 clovers and not payed a coin in the tp for doing it… only the karma for the obsidian shards and the skill points for the crystals.
edit: what i mean to say is i didn’t have to farm the gold to buy mats to do the recipe. i had my ecto by salvaging rare items i found playing the game

the only time i did it solo it was with a ranger i had to use a revival orb.
though by the time i did it the fish wouldn’t call all the aggro in the labyrinth.
pay attention if you succed killing those mobs because the skill point is a fight, if you are to slow all the mobs you just kill will respawn very soon

i hope while you stop going after the legendary you will get your precursor with random loot. i also hope it for my self…
each time i look at the price of precursor in the tp i perfectly understand how you feel. even if i should ever reach that amount of gold it would be aweful to spend it in a single item.
in fact i decided i’ll keep farming casually all the mats i need for my legendary hoping in the end the precursor will come in the way with no gold involved (there are already the icy runestones that are the mandatory gold sink in the legendary recipe)

maybe people should learn not only to deal extreme damage…

edit: all class can heal if they wish so, even my phantasm as a mesmer can grant regeneration

Farm sparks in Cursed shore, they drop charged lodestones at large quantities.

i never found any, with magic find and all, no charged lodestone in quantities… in 1 hour and half i didn’t see any.
i wondered if they really exist, i know i have a slot in the collectible bank where they should be slotted, but last i checked it was still empty. not even the core i find in this large quantity, i have 1 found in FoTM lv 9 in a chest

about speed… have you tried to run away or chase someone with a mesmer? and i cannot waste any utility slot to run so fast… and also i have to use a focus to run fast for few seconds…
1m invisibility would be the longest skill duration in the history of all guild wars… in one minute at thief speed you could run a map from one edge to the other without being slowed down by a random encounter, could you imagine 1m stealth in wvwvw you could come in and out from attacked towers spy everywhere and be the perfect gamebreaker.

that said if the thief can skip every single random fight in exploration with a wise use of 1m invisibility each profession should be able to do so… we cannot be bothered by mobs while we try to reach that POI just behind that champion

mmmh… when i use my scepter and i use it a lot, each time a fourth illusion spawn it kills the first i created, the illusion will explode in a smoke but the sound is definitely a boom followed by the sound of a shattering glass…
btw the mesmer is very noisy sometimes, i started using a scepter because i couldn’t bear the sound effect of greatsword.

if stealth means also slow down movement you can’t run at super hero speed and be also invisible… you have to chose 1 super power at a time.
you can’t be sneaky and be fast, in no game with perma invisibility a player is encouraged to roam all the map in stealth mode because it would require a week to do it with slow movement…

there are urban legend of people finding it at shadow behemut event, the urban legend i’ve been told is a guildie friend who gave it in exchange for the halloween staff.

i don’t know if this is a bug, or even the right section to post it, but i cannot target the ground when i try to toss the jar of harpy pheromones, i wasted a lot of them before i could hit my friends with it…
is it possible to have it target the ground with the AoE circle?

can you imagine her in her world borderland fighting and killing invaders? there is nothing heroic about that (just see the description of realm avenger in the achievement tab).

that said i understand the reasons why someone would be wiiling to roleplay a kid, or maybe a kid playing the game want to create a toon that fits him/herself… but still i think it’s strange to see a kid in the middle of a fight.

i don’t think you are a sicko, the only think i meant to say is your heroine is a tragic one, she is lucky only because she likes what she do and adventure, but that was only my opinion.
and btw 15 years old i don’t think is the kind of kid the op had in mind… 15 years old are not “kids” in some culture they are adults, and in gw2 the idea of a teen ager hero fits…

about kids in war i didn’t say they wouldn’t be better, but they would not be commander, and it is sad to use them as vietnam did

in the beginning i thought it was a nice idea, now i hate it. people join my guild (sometimes for status symbol since my guild is very peculiar in that aspect) and than they never represent or do it for very short times. sometimes they don’t even say hi in guild chat when they log in.
i don’t know if i have to blame the system or the people.
and also we don’t have any place to call home or simply where we can meet and organize something together or simply a place where to start gvg, sparring tournaments etc etc.
i deeply miss the guild hall we had in gw1

Well for this to work the enemies would either have to be someone from your story gone rouge or back for revenge, say like Tybalt, or an organisation or evil worth taking Zaitans place as the great threat to Tyria, which would then continue out from the dungeon in thier own new area like the karkata.

a little OT, something similar happened to me in the open world, i joined the order of whisper, rescued denmi and in harathi hinterland suddenly a random encounter with a champion wiped me. it was an hitman or a simple mercenary of the minister that wanted me dead for saving denmi from his grasp.
unfortunatelly he succeded i was alone and totally unprepared and this never happened again (never happened with the other toon joined to the priory).
i was amazingly surprised, i still think about it sometimes!

also in sparkfly fen or maybe bloodtide coast a risen addressed to me saying we will make you join with tibald.
i had to stop and kill the thing for even dare to nominate tibald in vain

i wish it could happen again i wish similar stories could be random in the open world (linked to your personal story) or even in an istance like the op suggested, but just the sparring is not my type of fun… i need a story to be told to be happy, and i could be happy even without a fight.

if at least they were exotics since some of them have pretty stats per say, the price would be worthy, you buy the set and you have an alternative stat set… instead the way it is now, you buy the set and than you add a expensive exotic set to use it with… meh

i agree, i use a lot of focus on my mesmer but i had 2 point of focus master and thousands on wand…

cape was a major feature in gw1, they removed from gw2 before launch for glitching problems

or you go once to the jumping puzzle with a tiny agile asura mesmer then log all of your character to the end chest and it is not like having all of them locked there. think about the wvwvw jumping puzzle, you cannot lock there any character. with this function (since wvwvw map is uncovered from the beginning and you don’t need to discover it) you could farm siege and badge of honor like never before.
maybe you wouldn’t do it/think about it, but most of the players will do it gladly, me included

i remember my ranger underwater was even better than on land. also the one with the most distance.
for downed a mesmer can attack with 1, create a clone of himself or just become invisible for 3 secs (randomly) none of this feature is very useful because the clone can be destroyed with just a bad look. the third attack is a phantom that if you are lucky does an attack than die and we all share number 4.

at least a ranger pressing 3 can be healed while still attacking pressing 1

i think he wanted to change character on the fly meaning the alt woud be at the same spot where he opened the window…
but unless they change the chests on jumping puzzle, just for an example it would be very unfair and exploitable

This is absolutely right. The argument gems can be bought from gold is laughable, the transfer ratio 1:1 is awful, although yes I agree it should be like that, it’s still bad.

Yes but unlike wow, here you transfer ALL characters and not just 1. You can also guest wherever you wish completely for free, so WHY again is this even an issue?

no one of these people remember that the game is fresh and new, that is not about leveling and that is not world of warcraft spin off. they are tired of wow (that’s the reason they are here) but they still want wow all over again just with diferent lore and profession…

yeah i agree i would like to see the crafting ability to have some sort of “fluff” crafting, maybe the tailor could craft clothes, while the leather worker and the armor smith could craft “ceremonial” armors.
i would also like the ability to craft toys.
i mean i support the gem store, but there should be some alternative maybe for less fancy things

agreed on both suggestion.
an hot bar for consumables and one for out of combat weapon swapping. some times i prefer not use some weapon at all for the sake of not opening inventory or hero panel

you have my 1 because i become sad when my condition mesmer has to swap to a great sword to damage objects and world bosses like jormag.

the only difference between this recipe and other gifts though is that you can buy the mats for other gifts but as it stands now the whole process depends on it (luck), the precursor is a gift of luck, the 750 ecto (if i remember correctly) depends on luck etc etc.

It doesn’t make sense; feature-wise maybe, but think about it this way: The armor is supposed to represent that culture’s style, traditions, etc; its not just stats/looks. Imagine Germans wearing kimonos because they look good; it just doesn’t fit their culture/image. I think they should remain unique; it gives you some incentive to pick a race, and gives others the chance to appreciate their race.

in fact japanese wear western styled clothes for the exact same reason.
in a multicultural environment where different races unite each other against any form of evil, where you can relate to different cultures because even if you are a sylvari you can respect and appreciate norn culture there is no reason why a norn cultural tailor should say to an immigrant sylvari or whatever: “no you won’t be allowed to dress like us!”

and i would like to suggest cultural weapon/armor crafting should be implemented.
i mean, my human tailor should craft clothes different than norn tailor. that would add tradable skins and a ton of variety

well there is no cultural lore wise reason not to do so. unless sylvari armors are just sylvari’s bodies… but the twilight arbor show it differently.
btw the twilight arbor armor is very different (and uglier) from the sylvari one i would wear.

better a hat than a mask (even if some of them are very cool).
but when you wear a hat you should not lose your hair style.
the witch hat turns my readhead human mesmer into a bold lad. the wizard hat it’s definitely better (it covers the loss of hair because it’s larger and even better than the previous one).

on a final note, can we at least dye them? i don’t want my town clothes to match the hat, i want it the other way around

not only it would be useful for disable, but i think every one would be very happier with a faster rotation or slower one… thinking of it, i would love to get rid of the mouse at all.

i might add that some events helps you to complete hearts. (you don’t need to talk to none npc to get experience and reward both for events or hearts, just do what the tip box on the upper right side of the UI tells you to do.)
there are no indicator where a heart can be completed (only events give you precize spot circled in orange in the minimap), that means that as far as you can see the tip about that heart in your UI you are in the right spot. don’t be afraid of going far from heart some quests are in fact very distant from the npc.

whenever you don’t know what to do or where to go or how to find something there are plenty of tutorial on you tube or even better ask to someone in map chat, or guild if you find one, i found a lot of very helpful players doing so when i started to play.

i tried to transmute it and make it account bound, but it didn’t worked, it stayed soulbound

can we have maybe in the character selection or in the hall of monument, or somewhere else, a gallery for cinematic we have unlocked on our account?
when i play team content i often skip the dialogs and cinematic to not upset dungeon runner.
but since i cannot run a dungeon alone or not always with people who don’t care about it, i missed a lot of content and lore.
a cinematic gallery would be the solution.
