Pretty much against the rules in every online game, but like, if you’re just doing it for the one friend, you couldn’t really get caught unless you went around broadcasting that you were doing it.

Guardian:
Spec. Name: Inquisitor
Weapon: Axe
Guardian already has a lot of weapons, so it seems to me the axe is probably the most likely to be coming with the first guardian spec. I don’t think they will introduce rifle or pistol to guardians now, if ever, and although I can see the tie-in for a guardian with a warhorn, just getting an off-hand would be pretty lame.
Although I can also see longbow making an appearance, I think I would be a little disappointed, since it just doesn’t seem to fit in with guardians that well. But maybe they could find a way to make it work.

Plenty of online resources to figure this out if you look around… you’re probably safe since it’s not for money, just get your licensing straight… assuming you get anywhere with it. I had many such ideas when I was younger that I never had the patience or interest to see through.
“Does anyone else feel unimpressed?” How about, why do you even deserve to be impressed? If you don’t like it, you can do something else with your time. ANet doesn’t have to make you happy when they have millions of other players.
Maybe you should relax and just try to enjoy things, instead of immediately looking for all the bits you don’t like. I think you’ll find yourself much happier in life.
The whole idea of GW2 is that the game begins at level 80.
I would have to disagree with this, since the large majority of the content in the game is designed for experiencing before level 80.
Really? Just human females? 10 combinations of race and gender, but let’s update only one of them… sounds like a solid plan!
Might be a bit of an issue since they’re probably working really hard finishing HoT
Don’t suppose you have any suggestions beyond “stop doing what you’re doing because I’m the authority on good content?”
You’re probably gonna get some flak for this thread, but you definitely see the problem. A lot of the players around here gawk at you if you so much as imply that their demands are not the most reasonable thing you’ve ever read, like “me? entitled!? HOW DARE YOU??”
I was kind of raised that way too honestly, it just takes some real effort to overcome the mentality. It can help if you’re not too confrontational with it, but really, what does it matter if people are or aren’t making ridiculous demands on the GW2 forums? It’s happening everywhere in the world with actually devastating consequences, so if we’re going to try to tackle the problem of society’s systematic cycle of misdirection, why start here?

You will also have more latency.
What do you mean by latency? The only thing this should affect is resource load times, and the difference should be pretty negligible since the drive is on the local network.
So, what, they’re supposed to keep an indefinitely long list of junk items for each player? Sounds pretty silly to me.
The game files are all kept in a single data archive where you install the program, so I think it should work installing to a network drive.
I agree server selection is the ideal solution, however, I also have never experienced this problem, and I think you’re being a little melodramatic.
developers said that with their current server infrastructure they can’t provide a map selection option.
There’s just no way that is possible. To assume that it is, you must assume that ArenaNet has no way to tell how many instances of map X are running. You must also assume that the infrastructure doesn’t have any way to tell how many people are connected to each of those instances. Both of those assumptions are absurd.
Do tell more about how you know the design of the system and have access to all the code. Maybe you’d like to add the functionality in yourself, since you clearly have a handle on how it all works at a base level.

I don’t think it takes much effort to add cloth harvesting nodes in-game.
Just so you’re aware, that has nothing to do with why there are no cloth nodes.
I’m sure Wanze will be along any minute to explain in detail why there are not and never will be any cloth/leather nodes.
Lol… “punished” is my favorite thing to read on the forums. It’s so ludicrous, as if to imply that you have a divine entitlement to craft multiple ecto-refinement items per day, and ANet is infringing on your basic human rights by preventing you from doing that. Do you even hear yourself?? “Punished” COME ON!!
As to why, because purposefully deceiving the community (and to be clear I am not suggesting that this is what is happening) in this manner seems unlikely to have a motive beyond deflection or misdirection while creating an illusion of community engagement rather than the reality. Kind of on par with employees of a company posting anonymous user reviews of the company/product on sites like Yelp.
There’s pretty much zero reason for ANet to do this. Why would they spend all this time devising and implementing a plan to get one person to pretend to be a regular forum member with elevated responsibilities, alongside others who (I think?) have been verified as ordinary players, rather than just assigning someone at the company to work with Gaile to increase community involvement? It’s obviously just somebody who hadn’t used the forums before. Pretty unsurprising, since most MMO’s show statistics in the realm of 5% of players ever using the forums.
Which does sort of beg the question of why this individual was given the position as a Forum Specialist, but prior use of the forums is hardly a requirement for the “job.”
(edited by Andred.1087)
Redpost (I think it was Gaile?) has stated you are allowed to sell spots in groups. Whether or not you can get significant money from it, I’m not sure, but anything you get should be profit, since it costs virtually nothing to do.
I agree, 100 is far too many for a temporary activity and is unrealistic given the spawn rate and the difficulty.
It’s not like you have to do it. And since when are achievements supposed to be things that can be done by everybody?
I haven’t attempted it yet, or even played the mini-game for that matter, but in my opinion, if it’s that hard, screw it. Not worth the time. You’ll live without the AP. Move on with life. Etc.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Yeah, man, it’s too bad you have no choice but to do the achievements. I mean, how would you survive without a constant influx of meaningless points?
It is requested fairly regularly, along with PvE dueling, but every thread results in a large stream of firm NO’s. That horse has been dead so long only the bones remain.
Weather patterns would be neat to see, but one of the major problems I see with that idea is that weather cycles are much more complex than day/night. Personally, I wouldn’t put dynamic weather in a game unless I could at least semi-accurately model real-world weather patterns based on time, location, and other factors. Granted I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to creative things, and others could probably care less how accurate the weather is, but either way it’s completely infeasible for ANet to put that amount of effort into it, which would be enough for me to say screw it.
GW2 is fairly CPU intensive, and even if it doesn’t show on your computer as being heavy on the CPU itself, the process of converting the machine code instructions into Linux-compatible instructions is quite costly, as I’m sure you are already aware. In short, it’s not likely that wine will ever be able to perform on the level of native code, especially with the limitations of GW2.
It takes a while to find your groove in it as well. My first experience with Fractals was miserable, and I didn’t do it again for a good while. Eventually I decided I wanted to get up to 50 (which I have yet to do, though I have enough AR), and as I worked my way up the tiers, I got a lot better not only at playing effectively, but also finding good PUGs. At least, it seemed that way, since I almost never had a bad group during that time.
The other day, I tried going into Fractals for the dailies, which was probably a major contributing factor to this, but the group I joined was not as experienced / prepared as I am used to, and I just had to bail after we failed Mossman 4 times. FotM is pretty challenging content, compared to the rest of the game, so it’s unsurprising that joining a group of randos can easily go wrong.
My biggest problem with Heart of Thorns is...
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I sort of want a CE for HoT, but since I bought the first CE, I’m already not looking forward to spending more money on this game.
I don’t want to play a flight simulator.
Good thing that’s 100% not what this is going to be?
Also, why don’t you want to do that?
If you look at the game like Anet does you will see the logic. more item = more bag space required = more revenue.
I’m betting that 20% of most player’s inventories are filled with items that will be useful one day so the more unique ingredients involved in crafting is pure profit for Anet.
Or maybe they wanted it to be, I dunno, semi-realistic? If you think they’re making significant money off of people who need more bag space for their intermediary crafting materials (which you can choose to not make until you’re going to use them), you’re delusional. Not everything in the game exists explicitly for profit; they also have to provide something people want to spend money on.
“Won’t do dailies again”
I fixed that for you
Only 11g to get artificer to 400. Its really that simple.
And 100 to go to 500, wtf anet. wtf… I mean wtf.
It’s called “pacing,” and the way it works is, you slowly progress toward your goal over time in small increments.
Please ArenaNet? Acknowledging that the new trait system “wasn’t right” for GW2 would not have spoiled HoT in any way.
This is why we don’t trust you.
No, you don’t trust them because you think you’re entitled to know everything going on with the game at any time, and you take issue with the fact that ANet likes to control the flow of information to the players. If you had any experience in the professional world, you’d probably realize that ANet’s communication with the player-base is not only satisfactory, but something that you should spend exactly zero amount of time concerned with, because they know what the hell they’re doing.
You know, it’s a lot easier to just live your life, and play GW2, rather than spend time out of your life worrying about whether or not the company that’s been successfully running the show for 2.5 years is properly handling their communication efforts.
You’re not going to lose the dungeon or PVP simply because you have slightly less power.
Nobody’s worried about losing… it’s about doing it as fast as possible.
What? Another one?
No, this is the same one.
figured I would come back and just as I expected… negative replies.
Lol, you lead with “I’m not coming back because you’re all going to be negative” then come back to complain about the responses… if you’re going to start a topic and then ditch it, you need to actually commit to not coming back.
Also, “Stick: apply directly to the dead horse!” You can do most content with whatever gear you want; Zerk is just the optimal DPS setup, which is king in a PvE mode that doesn’t force you into particular roles. Note that not forcing people into roles is one of the base principles of the game.
Totally agree with the OP. Ascended is not fun, a huge grind and not even worth it on any level.
The reality is that ANET want’s it to be SUPER GRINDY to force players into spending real money on gold to then buy auction house materials.
It worked on me. I dropped 20$ last week just to turn into gold and then into silk off the TP. 20$ btw bought me almost enough silk to make 2/3’s of ascended set.
Want a legendary? It will cost you about 500$ of real money. 200$ for the precursor and the rest for mats. When you see it in real money numbers it really puts it into perspective. It’s a complete waist of time and money unless you have money just sitting around to blow (I realize many do)
Jokes on me I guess.
Really you should just buy gold with money because the grinding is so horribly unproductive in GW2 generally. Did you see the thread about opening 1000+ bags? Basically the only reason to grind is that you’re a broke student who has more time than money. If you can even spend 10$ or 20$ you can save 100’s of hours grinding.
Too bad they have a real money AH. Real money AH almost killed Diablo 3, luckily though Blizzard is a very intelligent company who can change direction on the balls of their feet. I used to hate blizzard now I realize they’re literally the best in the business. One of the few companies that will actually learn and change from mistakes.
Something I’ve heard about large corporations is that it’s becomes hard for lessers to tell the boss anything because they become afraid of not fitting in or saying something the boss doesn’t want to hear. Totally explains the living story and trading post.
Something I’ve heard about people is that when they have big egos, they think everything they disagree with is wrong, and assume by default that other people are only out to exploit them for money. Totally explains this post.
It’s a pretty long way back down here to Earth, but when you get here, do yourself a favor and google the word “patience.” It’s a pretty neat idea, and it might even save you from throwing away money on something you’ll eventually have anyway.

Unlikely to happen ever
Guys, I was super excited at the PAX South announcement, but now that I’m seeing more and more of the new systems, I’m suddenly gripped by an unshakeable fear that things won’t be as ridiculously awesome as I think I deserve, and I’m terrified that I’ll have to work to achieve character progression, and why can’t all the content be instantly accessible and infinite in quantity?? The sky is starting to fall again! I swear it’s really happening this time! /s
tl;dr could we all stop instantly speculating about how bad things might (but probably won’t) be? I swear after every new announcement the forum fills up with “my concerns about X” and it’s ludicrous. if you’re scared of becoming less interested in a video game, you should just be grateful for how easy your life must be.
It says a lot about the mentality of the forum users that the FIRST thing they think when they see a new progression system is “why are we being locked out of this content?” This content that we’ve never had any access to in the past. This content that is designed entirely to be end-game content, which many people have been incessantly demanding since shortly after release.
Maybe you’re not aware, but when they release content that isn’t gated, it gets done immediately, and then people come on here and kitten about having nothing to do…
(edited by Andred.1087)
I don’t think they’ll completely forget about people who don’t buy the expansion, but… there was probably a reason they dropped the game to $10 the weekend of the announcement.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Where are the 140-200 skill points needed for ascended crafting going to come from now? Same with legendary weapons, you need 200+ skill points to craft a legendary, where are these points going to come from?
Probably from the ridiculous amounts of skill point scrolls you already get for doing almost anything in the game. Also, the article did say they’re going to put more skill points as content rewards to offset it.
Lol’d when I read ESO was nixing the sub fee. GW2 has outlasted many. Once HoT drops, it will be stronger than ever.
What’s up, you got a problem with girls becoming dudes or something?
And what about the other races? Lich form is pretty humanoid. Why does Charr necro suddenly become humanoid? Why didn’t they make 10 models instead of 1? Truly puzzling.
… you mean on top of the currently maximum +5 infusions that are almost entirely pointless?
Get real.
I noticed that Colossus dropped to 600-700g. Almost tempted to buy now and get one finished before the new legendaries. And yet, I wonder what the new hammer will be.
Might as well wait to find out. I anticipate prices will go down even further when the expansion hits, and everybody who doesn’t feel like paying that much for a precursor can pursue the alternative route.
Pretty clearly trolling… not even funny, either. What a shame.
No problem, hope it works well for you! I have mine as R. Ctrl, which has some disadvantages of course, but it hasn’t really been a problem so far.
What have you found to be the most convenient push to talk button while in battle? Especially for those of you who use this mouse.
Is there a button or key that you have found you can keep pressed while doing the rest?
I don’t know if you know this, as I didn’t discover it until months after getting the mouse, but there’s actually another click button to the right of the right-click button, which your ring finger should be resting on. I’ve been using that for PTT on all my games.
I gave up on the personal story when I discovered that it required a group dungeon to finish my “personal” story.
I had the same thought. Then I got over it and used LFG to find a group to do the dungeon with. Smh.
I like the idea of large GvG battles, although max guild size is 500, and I’m pretty sure ANet does not have the proper setup to run potentially 1000-person fights, lol… maybe a cap of like 50 per team.
Odd. Just last night I was idling before Teq and watching TV, and I forgot to check back into the game until about 13 minutes after the hour. I missed all but the last battery phase, and even so, I got all 4 chests. I’ve had it happen before when I missed the first battery phase as well.
EDIT: Just saw the post above. Confirms what I have experienced.
I just want the camera not to zoom out or change fov in world bosses. During the last LS episode with that jungle dragon boss, i had to stop playing because i was getting ready to get sick because of the weird camera angles it forces you into.
The camera distance increasing in those fights is for situational awareness. With the shorter standard distance, it can be hard to notice everything that’s going on.
It’s particularly great during Tequatl if you go fight at the laser, because somewhere in there is where the activation range ends, so you’re repeatedly going back and forth from far zoom to normal, and having to manually correct with the scroll wheel each time.
