What’s even wrong with gem store skins? Gold → Gems exchange, anyone?
Pretty minor nerf. Might will still be most useful in PvE, and I doubt it will noticeably increase time required to kill things in most scenarios.
As many here have said, it’s about pacing. There is such a thing as playing the game too much, and you’ll know you’re doing it if you’ve already done everything you want to do. The solution? Do something else. Unless that something else is whining on the forums about lack of content.
because it is starting to become stale for me after all these years of no new content , i honestly still hope they remake the enire combat system to be more like gw1 but i doubt it
Doubt? I’ll do you one better: that is NEVER happening.
All that’ll save locally is username/password (which doesn’t sound too great from a security perspective).
It doesn’t actually need to store the password either…

Is this information not readily accessible? People come here and ask about macros like once a week, and it’s the same answer every time. The rule of thumb:
Mapping one keypress to more than one action is forbidden.
Do with that information what you will. Personally, I just play the game as is. Also, you’re probably not going to get banned for anything you don’t get reported for…
I doubt ANet has such radical intentions with this. I also doubt that enough people care about it to make this a big deal anyway.
I thought mum was the word.
… And Bob’s your uncle!
I wish “Bob” was my uncle! Boy I’d be rolling in Slack.
Frankly I don’t see a problem here, other than your problem with destroying things you don’t need. Get over it; if it’s worthless to you, you shouldn’t keep it.
ANet gets cash flow from the gem store. A lot more than they got with GW1. This is why they could afford to make a free expansion, and I really really REALLY hope they do, because a paid expansion would fragment the playerbase.
Yes, but what then about people who would abuse immunity to suppression for obnoxious spam? I’m not sure what ANet’s policy on that is, since suppression prevents that from happening. There’s always a flip side. Except maybe the LFG thing; I’ve yet to hear a good reason for that.
But it’s also not a solution to make people do events every single day for a decade or two to accomplish goal they made
“Make people do events.. to accomplish a goal they made [for themselves]”
This is the problem. If you’re doing RNG activities for a specific reward, you’re going to be disappointed. Just do the events for whatever reward you get, and the day you do get what you’re looking for will be a great day.
Mayhaps it was not sealed at that time? I don’t remember what it looked like in the memory seed sequence.
Proof or it didn’t happen
Lesson learned: don’t be a lemming.
I’ll say it now…the announcement is NOT going to be an expansion pack as most people are used to them. No boxed sales, no sales at all imo…no new playable races…maybe, maybe a new class, but highly doubt it…perhaps new weapons for existing classes and maybe a skill or two. What will we get…the war ravaging through the remainder of the Magumma Wastes/Jungle to reach Mordremoth and the Mordremoth battle…with a bunch of side dishes.
The above announcement was brought to you by MY OPINION.
I think you’re pretty close. I also don’t expect any new race, potentially a new class, and maybe some weapons. More skills would be very nice, but balance is already an issue, and they certainly need to be careful about stuff like that.
What I really don’t want is for it to be a paid expansion. I sank enough money into this game when I bought the Collector’s Edition, and I really don’t feel like buying more of the game. Additionally, a paid expansion would split the playerbase by who has the content and who doesn’t, something GW2 has been particular about not doing thus far. Fortunately, I don’t think this will be the case, as they’ve been hyping this as “a new framework” for MMO’s to expand their universes, and a paid expansion is exactly the old framework.
One thing I would VERY much like to see, though: the ability to save and load builds (at least in non-PvP zones).
It’s definitely more than just LS3, evidenced by the description on the PAX event: “… The Living Story was only the beginning.”
But you are very right about people’s expectations. Gamers in particular are bad about setting expectations too high (read: being entitled children), and frequently find themselves disappointed when they don’t get everything they wanted. Worse still, they are often unwilling to see their own fault in the matter, and will put all the blame on the developers for not delivering what they expected. It’s a societal problem, though, and it will probably be that way for a long time yet.
The CDI’s were a way for the A-Net devs to gets us to do their jobs for them.
Yeah, definitely had nothing to do with all the complaints about the devs not listening to players…
He’s avoiding calling them Gods because the Humans are the only ones who consider them to be gods. Also because Arenanet is trying to distance themselves from the original lore of GW1.
This is well-known. I’m talking about why the humans are the only ones who consider them gods. Also, there’s no reason he couldn’t refer to them as “gods” anyway, regardless of how he views them, since he was talking about them as the human gods.
Anyway I think the discussion has run its course.
Also, to clarify Ogdens point – Spoilerthe human gods created humanity and became their gods, but they didn't create the other races so they don't view them as "gods" but as powerful beings.
Yes, but it’s very interesting to hear coming from the only remaining Dwarf, and someone so well studied in ancient matters. I think it is probably an accurate assessment of the nature of the human gods, that they are really just powerful beings.
Well, I guess I’m a bit rusty on my pre-GW1 lore, but if they aren’t the creators of the humans, then why would they have the same form? As long as we’re talking hypotheticals, I suppose they could be shapeshifting beings that took on the appearance of humans.
Anyway, it just struck me as odd that he wouldn’t say they were gods.
The way Ogden kept referring to the human gods as “benefactors,” and seemed to actively avoid using the word “gods” makes me wonder if there’s something deeper behind them than we’ve known so far. Are they actually just powerful alien beings from another planet or sphere of influence that came to Tyria and created humans to look like them?
Welcome to American education.
my predictions: absolutely nothing. Why are you hyping yourself so much for S3 of Living story?
Because they pretty clearly implied it’s not that when they said “Living Story was just the beginning.”
I think that’s the direction they’ll go with it, assuming they ever get around to it. Maybe this season?
I’m not really certain they plan on going through all of them… But I guess if the game stays around long enough, they might as well keep going, unless they can come up with something better plot-wise. It’s a weird position they’re in, since continuing to do dragons would be boring, but doing something else would be weird, since the dragons are still the biggest threat to Tyria.
After finding out about Heart of Thorns, I really wanted to listen to this song all day. I finally did after playing through the Story, and I discovered it meshes pretty well with the GW2 theme, and could make for a really cool mashup with the HoT trailer.
Unfortunately, I don’t really have the skills or tools to do video editing of that caliber, but I’ll just leave this here in case anybody wants to take it on, or if nothing else, you can all imagine what I’m talking about. Hope you enjoy!
It’s not an expansion, it’s just more Living World. Anyone who expects differently is being deluded. There is absolutely nothing about the trailer that even remotely indicates anything more than Season 3
Quote related to the “Heart of Thornes” pax presentation: “Living World was just the beginning”
.. a 90 min presentation at the MAIN stage ..
The fact that they’ve trademarked “Heart of Thornes” ..
These all reasons to believe it’s very possible we will see an expansion soon.
It will def be big, not just a preview of living story season 3, no way ..Prepare to be disappointed.
Expansion or not, it’s definitely more than Living Story, as per the “just the beginning” quote.
Was there not a scene right after that indicating they had somehow survived the crash? I’m pretty sure it showed them all on the ground with the wreckage, but maybe I’m remembering wrong.
I’ll actually be pretty unhappy if it’s paid. How is that in any way a new framework for MMO’s to expand their universes? It doesn’t add up. Not to mention a paid expansion would divide the playerbase into two groups, one of which does not have the new content.
I read a good article explaining how it could be a free expansion, and they could release it in stores at the price of the original game, and include the original game for free along with it. More realistically, that’s just re-branding the game with the new content so it gets all the publicity that a paid expansion would get. Dunno if that’s what they’ll do, but it’s entirely feasible.
Actually who cares though?
How do I into time zones?
Karka farming is pretty good last I checked, and it’s so low-effort you can watch TV while you do it. In fact, I would recommend having something to watch while you do it, because it’s rather monotonous. Just head to Southsun, wait for a train to form up, and ride along until it’s over / you want to stop. Sell the shells, get paid, etc. I can’t remember the exact numbers, but you’ll make a few gold pieces per hour.
Considering my life doesn’t revolve around GW2, I’m more than satisfied. I’ve gotten a lot of entertainment out of it so far, and I’m sure it will continue to serve me well for some time yet.
I used to be a strong advocate for a boxed expansion, not unlike many of the louder people on the forums here. I used to think the game was doomed if there wasn’t an expansion announcement in the near future. That was about 8 months ago. Game is still doing well, arguably better than it was back then; people here still making those same ridiculous claims just don’t understand how little of the population is represented here, and how little the forum users at large understand about game development and running a business.
One thing is for sure: if ANet did whatever the loudest people on the forums wanted at any given time, the game would have been run into the ground long before now.
Not a bad idea, though I don’t think it’s really warranted. Finding the nodes isn’t too difficult as it is, and if you know where a node is in one version of the map, you’ve probably harvested it already, so it doesn’t really matter if it’s somewhere else in another instance.
It took me a good while to narrow down the locations where T6 nodes typically spawn, but once you do that, you can find them pretty quickly.
The Hype Train rolls on, fueled by tryhards who won’t be happy without an expansion, even though Living Story can deliver any amount of new content for free. They’ll keep hyping and hyping until the announcement, then blame ANet for not stopping them from looking like the idiots they are. After that comes the next wave of doomsday prophecies, then the “I’m quitting” posts, and in 6 months most of them will be right back here again.

I wish everyone demanding an expansion would hold their breath, and preferably not stop. Exposing myself to this forum every day is slowly killing me.
Why stop there? There could be several tiers to this, including but not limited to:
“Devourer of Leisure”,
“Colossal Time-Waster”,
“Has Devoted More Time To This Than You Have To Your Actual Job”,
And who could forget,
“Does Literally Nothing All Day But Play This Game And Sometimes Sleep”
Personally, I don’t think I would want public recognition for effectively shredding my free time. You could say that’s just because I have aspirations beyond achieving fame in a fictitious universe based entirely on how much of my potential I’m willing to throw in the garbage in the name of pixels. And you’d be right.
I’ve been pretty satisfied with the reward system so far. Worth noting: I have a life outside of GW2.
Anet is at a very crucial impasse right now and if they can swing a “Burning Crusade” this year, all this bickering and complaining on the forums may finally come to an end for a while. At least thats what i’m hoping for. Lets just pray they do the smart thing, and roll out a huge chunk of content to keep people enthralled.
This is the problem. You know why? Because an expansion is NOT THE SMART THING TO DO. Think for a second. All content in the game is currently available to every player at no additional cost, with the one exception of Living Story missions that you missed entirely. Now, what would happen if they made a paid expansion? All of that content would only be available to people who buy the expansion.
Not to mention that anything ANet could do with an expansion can be accomplished through the Living Story, and it won’t cost us a dime. You expansion pushers need to learn a little patience. ANet is trying something different here, and it’s actually working; why on Earth would they backpedal all over that and go back to an outdated model? Because less than 5% of the players have come on to the forums demanding an expansion, insisting that everybody wants it?
Also, there is literally nothing ANet can do that would end bickering on the forums, because that bickering is caused by immature people who want only to feel like they are better than their peers. It will always be this way, for as long as humanity (as we know it)exists.
How does my Guardian feel about passive speed buffs? Very salty.
My Ele, on the other hand? Scared of dying from walking down a hill.
I’m pretty sure that’s only referring to real world currency. There’s nothing against the rules about trading stuff via mail, it’s just dumb, because the structure is not there to prevent scamming.
You can give it a shot with this trading guild thing, but I seriously doubt it will catch on.
Seeking “completeness” in a game that is continually evolving is not such a great idea. Also, trying to be “the best” is pretty pointless. Who even cares who the best is? The game is for you to enjoy. If you aren’t doing that, you’re wasting your time.
Yeah I’m saving them up until I have enough to max out my Ele, and after that I’ll keep saving until I can level up my other alts, etc. It’s really nice that playing my main can get me experience for my alts.
I don’t think the nodes are entirely random. There are specific areas where they are set to appear in, and I’ve noticed in the past that there are places with lots of trees where you would expect them, and places with lots of ore nodes, again where you might expect to find an abundance of ore.
It’s not perfect, but I think they did take location into consideration in a lot of cases.
Since the camera represents your viewpoint, your eyes if you were there looking at your character, why wouldn’t your ears also be there?
…except the RPG in MMORPG means role playing game….. you are not the camera….. you are your character.
As far as I know this game is not advertised as a camera-man simulator.
If you want to think that you’re the person in the game, I can understand why this is annoying. But you aren’t. You’re the person outside the game, experiencing the world from a few feet above the head of the character you’re controlling. It’s done to give the effect that you are watching what is happening.
At best it would only further reduce the problem by some indeterminate amount. Nothing of this nature would be able to completely eradicate the issue, so beyond what they’ve already done, there really doesn’t seem to be much point.
And yet the chance of a new race is still higher than the chance of you providing any real evidence to back up your fabricated statistics.
Lol.. reason much? Guess not. Not everything needs hard facts to back it up.
Anet has stated they will not be going back and working on Personal Story. Creating a new race would require new Personal Story, and that means they either go back and work on it, which they said they wouldn’t do, or they create an entirely new Personal Story exclusively for this one race, which doesn’t sound like anything Anet has ever done with GW2. To claim 0% chance might be extreme, but anything more than 2% is unrealistic.
It is clear to me now that Anet does not want the users of this forum to beable to find information
If you’re referring to the broken search feature, you need to be aware that Anet did not build these forums, and is therefore not capable of correcting the problems by themselves. So their options are either a) spend more money hiring contractors to fix it, or b) let people use the mostly functional forums without paying any more money.
It doesn’t take a prophet to tell you which of those is the better business decision.
