Keep living in your tiny world inside your mind. The game is doing fine, the devs actively take feedback from the players, and hundreds of thousands of people log into this game every day. You just refuse to see all that because it makes you feel good to speak out against perceived injustice.
qqqqq I losing
must be because enemies are cheap, nothing to do with me~
Wrong. GW2 does not need an expansion, and it is far from needing one critically. I’ve said it so many times already that I don’t even feel like typing out the full response. Just, no. You’re paranoid / unable to see the full picture, just no.
Who cares what it’s becoming? If you don’t mind, keep playing. If you don’t like it, quit. I’ll be playing for as long as it gives me something to do. I don’t understand why people make such a big deal about changes; if you can’t learn to adapt, you won’t ever be happy.
I think it is actually possible, but you have to hide your shoulders / gloves before turning the outfit on. Or, I seem to remember this being the case at some point.
EDIT: I just tried it, and you can actually turn off the pieces while the outfit is equipped, you just have to do it under “Equipment” and it’s not really intuitive.

Pack rat much? There’s no reason to keep those ascended rings or materials, just vendor the rings and toss the mats, and sell the sigils and mithril on the post.
That, or buck up and buy more space.
Welcome to the internet.
More like welcome to life. You can check out Fox News for live action examples.
I will tell you everything I know for a modest price of all your gold. No takebacks
The email notifications wouldn’t be impossible for any community-minded individual to put together, although you certainly wouldn’t have nearly the level of access to the players that ANet has, since it would be opt-in. Even so, it might be nicer than nothing at all.
Those two are still rather fitting for the setting of GW2. I can’t imagine anybody walking around with a straight up Glock would look appropriate to their surroundings. But I think there might be a misunderstanding in this thread.
More modern doesn’t necessarily mean exactly like real-world modern pistols, which, in my opinion, would be atrocious to see in GW2, but as shown in the examples you gave, it is very possible to have more modern-influenced skins in the game that look just fine, and I think that may be more what you are asking for.
That seems to be their mindset across the board, not just with the festival dailies. You can play the way you want, as long as it is within the limits they are putting on you (as in play how they think you should.
What kind of argument even is this? Are you suggesting there should be no limits? That you can do literally anything you want at any time? Obviously there are going to be boundaries outside of which you cannot operate, that’s just how reality works, so complaining about the existence of those boundaries is utter nonsense.
Furthermore, if you choose to interpret “encourage” as “force” that says a lot about your approach to the world. Have you ever heard the term “external locus of control?” You might want to look into it.
Macros aside, it’s pretty absurd that this feature has not been in the game since the beginning. I’m sure there is a half good reason why they’ve not yet added it, but as far as code goes, if they had any sense when they wrote it, I can’t imagine it would be difficult to simply add another option to the context menu that activates the item stack until it is empty, or the action cannot be completed. So my guess is that there is a particular reason why they have not implemented it, though I can’t begin to conjecture what it is, beyond “we don’t want to frustrate people by mucking up their inventories if they mis-click,” which would be a nice sentiment if that weren’t already possible. I’m looking at you, whatever kitten put “Compact” right next to “Deposit all materials.”
I do them for the rewards and AP when it’s convenient (most of the time), otherwise I don’t. I haven’t yet been inexplicably stricken with the complete lack of desire to keep playing, I would guess because I’m not that petty?
It’s OK everybody, I bravely took the plunge and risked everything by not doing my dailies yesterday, and it turns out I’m still breathing. No thanks necessary. Keep trucking out there.
Depending on what materials you have already, it could be fairly inexpensive to get from 400 to 500. If you craft exotic armor starting with the most valuable (zerker), you can get by without losing much money at all. But again, it depends on you already having a considerable stockpile of materials.
Anyway, best of luck finding the style you like best!
You could just keep playing and not worry about it… nobody’s crying if you stop for a while, either. No sub fee, you can come and go as you please, etc etc…
Well I’m not sure about mage-ish, given how heavy armor is, but I can show you my guardian, which I am very happy with.
Here are the skins:
- Illustrious Visor
- Carapace Pauldrons
- Primeval Warplate
- Carapace Gauntlets
- Illustrious Tassets
- Illustrious Greaves

If this wasn’t the case other people would pop Aegis for the 20% increase damage, then focus #5 to keep aegis as long as possible.
Yeah, that’s the idea, lol
I like how “too many people do this” is enough for you to never try something. As if it implies something about your tastes in general.
The only dumb reason preventing me from having a Norn warrior is that my slots are all full, and I don’t want to delete my thief because, well, if our characters are just a bunch of bits stored on a server somewhere, that can be reduced to a bunch of particles arranged in a particular configuration that changes based on the things they experience in the game, and if you look at it that way, how is that any different than us? I don’t want to delete a guy!
I guess I could just buy an extra slot with gems, but meh, I barely play my other alts anyhow.
If you like GW1 so much you can go play it. ANet never said they were making a second GW1, and if that’s what you expected to happen, it is your fault for setting your expectations far outside the reality of the game.
You can evade all the time becasue you keep giving yourself vigor distortion etc. while doing max damage. This is bad for the game because this makes support not viable, why would you need it if you could do it yourself.
One of the pillars of GW2 is being able to do things by yourself, and that any class can fill any role as needed. It sounds like what you are suggesting is spreading roles out in such a way that you are dependent on having people with other kinds of builds in your party to succeed, which is against the core philosophy of the game.
I was hoping this thread would be addressed to all the naysayers of the Living Story, or the new dailies, or pick your favorite popular thing to hate on, but it turned out to be so much worse. Mounts? Seriously? I’m impressed you even got me to type that word again after this topic has been discussed so much.
Mounts are nothing but clutter in a world with the ease of travel of waypoints, and if you didn’t notice, mounts are pretty clearly not in the interest of the developers. I’m a little glad you brought it up, though, because it’s the perfect example of something that a lot of people asked for on the forums, but will absolutely never happen, because it’s just objectively a bad idea to put mounts in GW2. Can you imagine the backlash? If mounts were added to this game, it would essentially look no different than any other generic WoW clone MMO from the last decade, and severely decrease the appeal of the game to people who want something different than that, which is exactly what GW2 has been marketed as this whole time.
There are many people that do not want an expansion, why should those people be ignored?
That’s the stupidest thing i ever read. Gw2 players don’t want to have more of game they love?
No, dipkitten, we don’t want it as an expansion. An expansion would undermine everything ANet has done with the Living Story, and is completely unnecessary, since any content introduced with a traditional expansion pack could be done with the LS for free. People around here are clamoring for an expansion because they think they know what’s best for the game, but they seem to be unaware of how wrong they are.

I’ve seen multiple threads asking for races, classes and weapons.
Roll out the polearms, we’ve got multiple threads here!
So… doesn’t it ring a bell? Doesn’t it give a clue about if the new system succeeded or not?
Unless these polls are a genuinely representative sample of the entire player base, no, not at all.
It should be trivial to remove it from the site. I can understand why they may have reservations about doing that, but having a non-functioning search box is even worse than no search box at all.
Of course, they could also hire someone to fix it up. I wouldn’t be opposed to giving it a go..
Removing it would likely break a lot of stuff. If you think something is trivial about the coding, then it very likely isn’t trivial at all.
Lol… hiding an input field on a page is the dictionary definition of trivial
Seriously? We have a billion threads about the broken search function. You couldn’t search for one of those and post it there? Sheesh.
This post…this post right up there ^^…reminds me of IT Support when you call them to complain about your email being down, and they tell you to send an email with the details.
Or was that sarcasm? Hard to tell on forums, nowadays.
It’s pretty easy to tell…
Gambling is extremely profitable for the company that runs the casino. I don’t see Anet taking the slot machine out of their game all the while they are legally allowed to exploit people’s weaknesses.
Gambling games shouldn’t be rated Teen. Particularly when the gambling is so explicit that the interface is that of a slot machine (black lion key).
Lol are you serious right now? “Gambling game?” This has to be a joke.
For the record everyone, this is not gambling… you can’t make money off of it…

What you described is exactly what is in the game… I take it you just want more options, which would be nice, but seriously, it’s still ridiculously easy to finish the dailies even if you only do the PvE ones.
What? If I’m understanding correctly, what you’re talking about happens when you’re trying to “join” somebody who isn’t in a party yet. Inviting is the same as joining in this case, so it just says “invite.”
Don’t think it always works the way it should, Andred. It will many times only let you /invite that player whether they’re in a party or not. So I suppose I’m asking more for a bug fix than a new solution.
Oh, I see, you mean using the chat commands? I’ve never had need to do that though.
What? If I’m understanding correctly, what you’re talking about happens when you’re trying to “join” somebody who isn’t in a party yet. Inviting is the same as joining in this case, so it just says “invite.”
Don’t have any legendaries, but to answer the question, I keep coming back because I feel like it. There’s no point in making the focus of your gameplay about meaningless possessions. You should play for the experience.
Lol this kind of kitten has happened to me more times than I care to count. Get a new computer or just learn to deal with it~
It’s funny that you think this game is grindy
I don’t understand why people go through all the efforts to make these long posts when ANet clearly never listens to anything and continues in their own path of destruction.
Yep, definitely going down a path of destruction with no hope for redemption. 100%, absolutely no possibility that they’re not listening because you’re wrong and they know what they’re doing better than any of you clowns. Now that, THAT is an absurd notion.
ArenaNet, help plz?
Anet couldn’t give a monkeys butt.
Yeah….. guess they’re a little occupied being on vacation for the holidays?
GW2 does not need an expansion, and making one would be tantamount to saying “that thing we’ve been doing the last 2 years? yeah, that was a miserable failure.” Which isn’t even true; LS has been very successful, all things considered, and releasing an expansion would only be a step backwards.
Not to mention, if they release one expansion, everyone will be expecting more, and more, and it will be an endless cycle of people being kitteny about lack of content, which is no different than things are now, except you’d be paying for every release, instead of getting it all for free.
Yeah I used to get Cliffside at T3 run after run after run, it’s obnoxious. Really the problem is too few Fractals, but I mean, when was the last time they even acknowledged that?
I hope they get a few more Fractals into the game next year. As for regular dungeons… I don’t expect to see but maybe one more of those ever. Disappointing that dungeons have been so neglected, but I guess there just hasn’t ever been enough interest in them.
Dear Santa, all i want for Christmas a fire truck, a pony & ArenaNet to surprise the hek out of it’s loyal player base outta of this funk! thq…
I don’t know about you, but I’m not in any kind of funk over a video game. When I get bored of something, I do something else, and if that’s not what you do, you’re wasting your time hoping for something that’s never going to happen.
I used to think there was something nice about being a “loyal” player, but what purpose is there to being a person who, despite lacking the entertainment they desire, is willing to spend their precious free time doing something they don’t enjoy just because they feel like it means something to be “loyal” to a non-living entity? There are lots of games you could be playing if you’re tired of GW2, and it will cost you nothing if you’re not playing GW2 in the meantime. Anet isn’t going to feel bad if you don’t log in for a few weeks, and neither should you.
Just because they release an expansion doesn’t mean they can’t release Living World. Colin said it himself. An expansion isn’t only about box-prize, it is about promotion. People outside of GW2’s community DON’T care if GW2 is getting Living World or not. They would care though if an expansion wasn to be announced.
Alot of people are ignoring the fact that an expansion announcement would increase GW2’s commercial success, especially if the expansion is good. Good reviews, ratings and hype by the media is far more important than sitting alone and bragging that the company won’t release what other MMOs does.
Anet doesn’t need that to increase their commercial success. They’re probably still rolling in dough! Not to mention that an expansion goes against everything Anet has done so far, in that all the content would need to be designed in such a way that it is acceptable for a player to not have it. So far, all the content in the game has been accessible to every player across the board. With an expansion, there would be a considerable number of people who don’t have that content, and that really is not the way GW2 has operated thus far.
Many people also forget that switching to an expansion release model would throw a huge wrench in their internal company processes, and they would lose monumental amounts of development time to red tape and business reorganization.
At best, there might be a hybrid sort of expansion cheaper than is expected and with less content. But let’s get one thing clear: GW2 does not need an expansion. They will enjoy continued success for years to come without it, as they have since release.
You’re kidding yourself if you think you’re waiting for an expansion. If they do release one, which I really hope they don’t, you’re going to buy it immediately, burn through all the content, then come on here and kitten about how the game is stale again.
An expansion would be a waste of Anet’s time, and of our money. We can get all that content via LS for free, but for some reason you people are all hung up on traditions and refuse to admit that the current release model is just as viable. Yeah, maybe it won’t have the hype of an expansion.. so what? Is that a bad thing? People who can be swayed with hype are so fickle that they’ll be tired of the expansion after 2 months, and we’re back to square 1.
I really hope Anet isn’t about to throw their entire Living World idea out the window just to appease a bunch of chronic naysayers. If there is no expansion in 2015, the game will continue as it has: just fine.
I wouldn’t put too much weight on these so-called “cliffhangers.” The writing team probably isn’t sitting around saying “Ooh, let’s drop a cliffhanger in here! They’ll go crazy over this!” More like, “Let’s not show it until next episode, because it’s a nice, round stopping point.”
And to suggest that it’s problematic, when the next episode will be released shortly, is kind of ridiculous. Surely you have more to do in your life than twiddle your thumbs until the next release.
(edited by Andred.1087)
In general, I see a problem that has plagued the design of LS things for a while – the incentives for individuals are not aligned with incentives for the group.
Problem is, that’s kind of an issue with all society. How can it be circumvented without forcibly controlling exactly what players do? More freedom generally means more room to act selfishly.
You should make a Buzzfeed article about this, right next to “23 threads you’ve literally seen a million times”
Oh look, this thread again… let me just get my list…
1. All builds are viable in PvE if you know what you’re doing
2. Not all builds are optimal because that’s how reality works
3. DPS will always be king in PvE in any MMO that follows standard combat patterns
Not even any suggestions from OP about how he/she would do it differently… classic
Haven’t read it yet, but I’m already certain this will never happen, because hard mode is something that will only ever be touched by a small percentage of players, so it’s not really worth Anet’s time to bother making something so complex just to please a few people and have the vast majority of players not even see it.
GW1 had a lot of things that GW2 will never have for this reason. Many people on the forums here claim Anet is out of touch with what the players want; on the contrary, they take much consideration about what the players will want as a whole, and if something that will take a lot of time to implement is only going to be experienced by under 10% of the players (this is common for endgame content), they’re not going to think twice about it.
(edited by Andred.1087)
I’d be down with a couple more options per category per day, but still, on average, it’s been considerably less effort for me to get them done.
I would be very interested to hear why it is “impossible.”
Sometimes, developers don’t leave behind a nice cohesive breadcrumb-trail for future developers to follow.
Believe me, I know. At my job I am often handed projects that were not well done the first time. I’m just so shocked that they’ve yet to hire anybody else to fix it. Is it just not worth their money to have a functional search feature? The least they could do is have somebody remove the box…
