Bandwagon, bandwagon everywhere. I can’t wait to see what the ludicrous outrage is next month.
This is ridiculous. Do you think they’re lying to us all? Anet has no obligation to provide you with their statistics, and demanding that they do is outright insulting. If you don’t believe them, that’s your prerogative, but nobody is forcing you to stay here against your will.
Keep up the reporting! I’m interested in seeing what someone with a more objective mentality about it has to say about the new experience.
Thanks for posting this. Lots of stuff that everyone on here needs to read before spouting off nonsense they know nothing about.
What good would it do to have people designated to come on here and post positive things about the company? The forums are a cesspool of kiddie rage and hate bandwagons, so I doubt it makes any difference if there are people here being reasonable and suggesting that Anet isn’t a malicious entity with the sole enterprise of sucking dry your precious allowance money with evil cash shop schemes. Because from what I can tell, nobody listens to that.
Yes, more, MORE!
I thrive on your bitter, bitter tears and exaggerated sense of self-importance
noice, thanks for the tip
So the question now is the current environment conducive to starting a CDI or should I wait a few days?
Chris
Maybe a few days would let the forum base calm down a bit, but I dunno if it will matter that much. I’m pretty interested to see this get off the ground already, and it would be a shame if a bunch of rude people mucked it up.
Mostly 2 I would say. It’s always a raging time on the GW2 forums, and when there’s a new thing to be upset about, it’s like everybody forgets about what they didn’t like last week. People like to think they’re better than each other for any reason imaginable.
(edited by Andred.1087)
there certainly should have been more logical thought put into how and what you’re teaching the new players
I’m fairly certain they put a lot more thought into it than you give them credit for. Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it is nonsensical.
I want to offer criticism because I want it to get better, I say these things cause I care.
I will exclude you from this generalization because I think that’s polite, but I think most people are offering criticism because they like to hear themselves talk. Maybe it’s just because I don’t give a kitten about the leveling process anymore, but like, wow, this is a pretty absurd outbreak of rage over something that only affects what was already the most uninteresting part of the game.
You forgot about Destiny..
I’m so torn over it because I’m still trying to get my friends to play GW2 with me, but it looks so legit. will probably get eventually.
I’ll take that bet if you supply the chimpanzee.
I don’t understand why they made that change; it doesn’t make much sense to me, unless they just really wanted their chat to be uniform like that. Still I’m having a very hard time finding any sympathy for the hardcore RP section of the playerbase. You might want to check out DnD; I think you’d like it.
All these people are upset because it’s fun to be upset. “You’re insulting my intelligence by making this easier!” Right, or maybe you’re just arrogant? Man it’s a sad sight on the forums right now. If you’re so mad about the game then quit and play Destiny or any of the millions of other video games. Just don’t go around acting like it matters whether you quit or not.
I already have almost no friends who actively play. Also I don’t get what all the massive buttfrustration is about, but I guess weak-minded people will get upset about anything if there are enough of them. Game is still pretty good to play, leveling alts always sucked and always will. Moving on…
So you’ve reduced your complaint down to “Anet can we not have completely useless builds?” Which, I think we can all agree would be nice, but you have yet to realize is not likely to happen, no matter how many times you re-post this.
1 – Done and doing again..
2 – Last I heard, Cantha was more or less off the table for GW2… could happen in a couple more years maybe?
3 – I’m definitely curious to see what Joko’s been up to since GW1, but I dunno if there’s enough draw to bother doing it. Now, if it were Blizzard, it would 100% happen as you described it.
4 – I’m not certain this has ever been considered at Anet as an important thing to establish. There’s clearly more land out there to be seen, but it took us thousands of years to get a full map of Earth, and I get the feeling that the peoples of Tyria are still quite young. I wouldn’t count on them ever going that direction with the story, though it would be neat to see. GW4 featuring a global, Type 1 civilization? Haha.
I really think there should be a forum dedicated to player suggestions, because most player suggestions are infeasible and ill-conceived. Better to have them all collecting dust in a subforum nobody ever visits instead of cluttering up the main forums with thoughtless rants about the state of the game. It’s not like the staff would be looking at them any less.
(edited by Andred.1087)
We could do something smaller anyhow. I’m definitely into this. Make a guild for tag art? After the patch they’re global~
This guy outside of LA. So creepy.
Whelp. Week three’s over. Nothing major. The TP changes sound interesting, but nothing game changing. There’s no built in average or over time trackers or anything so third party sites will still be important. So three weeks, a handful of decent tweaks, a handful of horrible nerfs, absolutely nothing that was super exciting, and most of the positive changes stuff that really should have been in game a year ago.
Whee, year 3, here we come.
Way to see the glass half empty. I’ve seen a lot of people excited about a lot of the features. Perhaps you’re unhappy that something you wanted wasn’t announced? Or just have been talking down this feature patch for so long you wouldn’t back down now?
Lots of needed tweaks and updates. Doesn’t matter how long ago they should have been in the game (in your opinion), they’re here now, and you should at least try to be grateful.
And OP is totally right, many of their changes are related on pushing people to buy gems. Im’ not sure why that is surprising.
If the game is fun to play, then the developers should not HAVE to push anyone to buy gems. You will naturally desire to buy gems, without needing to be pushed at the gem store.
Creating an artificial way to push players to buy gems, is a sign you are doing it wrong.
No, it’s a sign that you understand marketing. In what (realistic) scenario would not pushing people to buy gems make more or even as much money as doing it?
I just kinda assumed that the maximum number of people would be optimal for dungeons..
It is not that easy. I love GW1 and i still play it.
I spend years and years there to build friendships and attachment to the game.
People always tell me just play something else but is not that easy.
I don’t want to play something else. I want GW2 not to run into the ground for no reason.
And you are right i don’t enjoy it anymore. I am very close to my last legendary weapon and this is the only thing that keeps me logging in.
It is also sad to have great memories like the lava Worm under EOTN
or creating buils that makes you survive in the Talus chutes.
It would be sad to let these memories go
Sounds like a personal problem. I played GW1 back in the day, and I loved it, and I still play GW2, and it’s slowly finding its place in my heart as the successor. You, on the other hand, appear to have decided you don’t want to be satisfied with GW2 the way it is now (and how it will continue to evolve), and you’re letting it ruin your experience. Perhaps your appetite for new content outmatches the developers’ capacity to provide it, in which case, I would recommend you find more games to play. Nobody says you have to stop playing GW2 either… but it’s obviously not enough to keep you entertained, and there is a lot more you can do about that than Anet can.
Also, for the record, the game is far from “running into the ground,” and it’s ridiculous to claim that it is doomed if they don’t start doing things your way (as about half of the posts on the forums seem to read). GW2 is doing fine, and you can enjoy it if you want, though if you play through all the content as fast as possible, you are going to find yourself bored pretty quickly, no matter how much of it they make.
(edited by Andred.1087)
OP what are you so upset about, please tell us
isn’t that clear ?
It’s the rinse and repeat stuff.
They don’t even bother to change a detail they just lower the quality
every time.
I don’t think you’re upset about the story being repetitive and uninspired, because if you were playing to enjoy the story, you would have quit a long time ago.
From what I can gather from your first post, you are upset about this because people discourage you when you suggest features from GW1 by saying they aren’t the same game. Well, that’s just fact. The games are quite different, the underlying code is quite different, all the systems are quite different, even where they look similar to the users. It’s not as simple as just wanting to put a feature in and then doing it. And Anet is a different Anet, with different priorities and different goals.
And so what if they did kind of re-use a story that was written by someone else several years ago, and is also one of the most generic plotlines in the genre? I fail to see how that’s a valid comparison to missing features.
(edited by Andred.1087)
>It’s a feature update, not a content update
sure but it’s just grind….
boring grind…that’s the kind of little things that can not keep someone like me busy between LS episode updates
1. It’s not supposed to keep you busy, it’s a godkitten feature update
2. How exactly do you propose to keep people busy without a grind?
OP what are you so upset about, please tell us
Are you upset about the story? Yeah it’s pretty bland if you ask me. Nothing to get riled up about though.
Or do you want the game to be more like GW1? Yeah there are a lot of nice features I wish we still had, but this is not GW1, so we don’t have them, and this is likely to continue.
So it looks like you just don’t like the story, which is fair; the story is boring. But, I don’t really see what’s the big deal.
(edited by Andred.1087)
I… I’m so excited. This… I don’t know. I feel like they peered into my crazy collector mind and asked, “How can we make this girl even MORE addicted to our game?”
Crap. I’m going to need to quit my job. Brb.
:D
I’m glad I wasn’t the only person who made that face while reading it. I don’t even know why I’m so excited about it, but this will definitely give me something to do for a while.
I’m pretty excited about this in particular
Has anyone here considered maybe you hyped it up too much for yourselves?
I’ll admit Anet used some misleading words to describe some of the features, but come on, that’s advertising. It’s your own fault if you actually expected something incredible to come out of this feature patch and are now let down enough to come on here and make an entire thread about what you think the problem is and how to solve it, no different than all the others doing the exact same thing.
The problem is that people spend way too much idle time thinking about one video game and trying to solve imaginary problems.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Bad. Anet is becoming worse every patch. They keep on saying they listen, but with the changes theyre doing, they are proving otherwise.
You mean the commander tag colors people were asking for? Or the miniatures / finishers in the wardrobe people were asking for? Or the dungeon instance owner change people were asking for?
Yeah they’re really not listening to us at all.
I support this, especially since the new additions will all be cosmetic, and equipment will still be the only tab that has anything to do with stats.
These CDI’s could very well be just a pacifier!
Paranoid much? I hope you brought enough tin foil for the whole class…
Are you suggesting they’re sitting up in their ivory towers, resting on their laurels, so to speak, ignorant of what the peasant players want while they keep feeding their rampant addiction to gem store skins, instead of providing them with nourishing endgame content? Is that the Anet you think exists today?
Well, one thing’s for sure: nobody at Anet is reading these threads and sounding the alarm. The number of people who frequent the forums is minuscule compared to the active playerbase, and consequently, the opinions expressed here represent quite a small portion of the people affected. So, we keep seeing these same posts, almost word for word, and for nothing, because most of the players are happy.
P.S. What, couldn’t be bothered to give me an actual reply?
From what I’ve seen, player concerns are a lot closer to “why no endgame raids waaah.”
At least, that’s what some people on the forums are saying, so I guess that’s how everyone in the game feels, too, yeah?
Article was pretty long so I didn’t read most of it, looked like the author was just giving points to every side of the debate where possible. Doesn’t matter anyway, people are blowing this way out of proportion, and someone at Massively is doing their job good by reporting on it in the most agreeable way possible.
(edited by Andred.1087)
This post again…
There is no cause, there is no crisis, there is no need to be upset. The CDI is starting up again in 2 days.
There already has been a CDI. What’s come out of it?
You’re right, screw Anet for trying again.
This post again…
There is no cause, there is no crisis, there is no need to be upset. The CDI is starting up again in 2 days.
The Feature Pack announcements will continue next week and some of them will definitely contain information that’s relevant to those of you who’ve been playing the game for long. We won’t tell you about them until the articles are live though, to keep the element of surprise!
Was that it? Minis and Finishers in the wardrobe?
What a great day for vets!
“relevant to those of you who’ve been playing the game for long”
They didn’t exactly promise a feast
…and then you come to forums where there’s an eager squad of white knights waiting to pounce all over your observations with a knock-down, “nuh uh!” Why even bother?
Lol, always cracks me up when people start talking about “white knights,” as if there’s anybody on this forum that leaps to defend Anet because they’re 100% happy with the game.
Get real, everybody has something they wish was in the game but isn’t. Only difference is that some people realize it doesn’t have to be perfect to be successful, and if everybody who’s up in arms about the feature patch and the lack of content just up and quit the game, it probably wouldn’t even leave a dent in ANet’s profit margins.
I can’t be the only one getting sick and tired of these QQ threads.
You know you are allowed to not click on them and your problem will be solved.
Your like a person who goes into a supermarket and chants “I don’t like beans!” in the tinned foods section :P
Well if the store is about 80% beans and there are people coming up to you in other sections (which have beans where they do not belong) and literally throwing beans in your face, it might be a valid complaint.
I agree as well. Worth noting is that Equipment is still going to be the only thing in that grouping that affects your stats; all the rest are cosmetic, and I don’t think they should be getting in the way when you’re trying to access your Equipment, or vice versa.
It’s been bothering me since they added Wardrobe, but I thought maybe they would change it later.
That would placate the small portion of the community that is having a problem, yes. I don’t think that’s really something ANet needs to make a habit of doing, though.
There will always be people on here whining about not having something. There will always be people on here saying the game is going South and everyone’s abandoning ship. Why should ANet expend their resources trying to satiate the insatiable?
Now, I do really want new Fractals and dungeons and 1 more world boss (not in any zone we currently have though). And I rather expect these things will come eventually. Right now is the feature patch, and that’s what will happen right now.
The CDI starts up on Thursday, so make sure to bring the suggestions there. I don’t think threads like this do anything, though.
This game isn’t for us.
People with unrealistic expectations about feature patches? Yeah probably.
Master of Peace was way too suspicious to not come back. I bet he shows up next story release.
Last night I tried to cut down a tree, forgetting that I had no axe, which I’ve been meaning to get for a while. I made a joke about it to my friend, but I don’t think anyone else could have seen it. Doesn’t matter anyway, they’re account bound.
This morning I logged in to find an Orichalcum Logging Axe in my inventory that I have no recollection of purchasing. To be clear, I clean out my inventory every time I finish doing something, and before I log off, and I definitely did that last night. So I have no idea where this thing came from.
3spooky5me illuminati etc.
(edited by Andred.1087)
I’ve been meaning to bring a mini with me when I do stuff. Now that will be much easier it seems. Cool.
I still don’t like how all of those things are under what used to be the Equipment tab. Back when they added Wardrobe and Dyes into the mix it was already annoying enough (since the tab they fall under used to only be for equipment, so clicking it would always show you your equipment). I think that was a dumb UI decision that is now beyond fixing, but it’s not so bad.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Info and post are up.
Awesome speech
Thank you. I tried to write something like that a few days ago, but it ended up being flamed to hell because I’m just not good at putting words on paper.
It’s EXACTLY how a huge amount of players feel about GW2.And on a similar note let me add this.. (not directed to the poster that I quoted.)
You might think that the forum is full of unhappy players. But that’s not the case.
It’s quite the opposite. Many players that are unhappy with the game and that posted on the forum before already tasted the wrath of the white knights and they simply don’t even bother coming on it anymore for that exact reason. The few exceptions that actually post something “negative” are posting it because they actually care about the game. And there’s no need to pretend that players complaints aren’t real. They are real no matter how you look at them. What matters is that many players are not happy with the current developing directions and that many players already left.
No white knight speech, about how ANET is doing great and how the complaining players are being greedy and whiny, will change that. The only one who can change that is ANET.If you complain and whine about the whiners you’re no better as they are.
Player complaints are real, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t being spoiled and childish all day long on these forums. Who you call “white knights” in this context are most often sensible people who are able to put together that the reason ANet is continuing to do whatever they want is that they must be doing pretty well for themselves. And that means no amount of greedy, whiny, complaining players will change that.
Nobody says you have to be 100% satisfied with the game, or that you can’t voice your complaints, but the level of disregard and lack of understanding being shown in these forums is, well, I suppose actually it is to be expected, given the target audience of the game.
I promise the entire scenario makes perfect sense if you consider ANet is actually doing great money-wise, and the apparently “huge” amount of players you speak of are actually an incredibly vocal minority that ANet has no business-logical reason to appease every time they get bored.
tl;dr maybe you should write a novel about how much you don’t like where GW2 is going, maybe then they’ll think about changing it. not
if you’re so unhappy, play another game for a while.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Typical forum users over-analyzing everything… the point of the analogy was that the price seems a lot more reasonable when you consider how often you spend that much money on something you put in your face and never see again.
