What is doing a world boss every day worth? I dunno, I got a precursor from Teq. And if you do it every day for a while, maybe you will, too. You can’t just say the rewards are out of reach if you’re barely trying to get them.
It’s 45 minutes of waiting for 15 minutes of playing, once a day, for decent loot and a chance at some really good stuff. Teq is pretty worth it imo.

Level 20 scroll and, wow, a five SP scroll, as if you can’t get 5 scrolls of knowledge at the drop of a hat. Pretty disappointed with the birthday gift, except the blaster, which is turbo radical, and I will use it all the time.
Except, it’s the game’s birthday and it’s giving you the present. What did you get the devs for their 2 year anniversary for releasing this game?
Wtb pointless passive-aggressive contrarianism.
And for the record, I bought the Collector’s Edition.

I don’t have a hat, so, yes, I do like that scroll, if only for the monthly skill hunter. This may be news for you, but not everybody is only going after champions. And even if I do get a champ box, I almost never get a scroll…
I don’t really know what to say, I mean, I can’t go a single day without getting at least 3 of those, and all I usually do is Teq and maybe a Fractals run. And Karka Queen. Any two of those should get you several scrolls.

OP has some valid points, but mostly QQ disguised with wall of vague text.
First off, Blix was crap, stupid exploit, should not be complaining about that being fixed.
As far as PvE goes, ANet has added Fractals, ascended crafting, 2 new zones, and surely other things I’m not thinking of right now. It’s not a lot compared to where GW1 was 2 years after release, but don’t say there’s nothing.
I’ve definitely been guilty of using “significant” and “meaningful” to describe things I want to see in GW2, as opposed to things that have been added, but do take care that you aren’t defining “significant” and “meaningful” as “things I like.” Because I’m seeing a lot of that in this thread, and it’s pretty pathetic.

I say 1. ANet should decide.
We all know mounts would be #1 topic if 2.
You don’t really need agony infusions until high level fractals. You can buy versatile infusion, which gives +5 agony resistance, from the BUY golem for 75 fractal relics, and those will cover you up to scale 29 if you get full ascended trinkets.
what gifts do you expect to get, apart from 5 queen jennas
7 more queen jennas
I’m very impressed at the dev response so far. Granted, I haven’t read most of the posts, but just the number of posts is exciting. I think I speak for a lot of people here on the forums when I say it’s nice to see them proving us wrong.
Content wise in PvE you just got: a new map, new weapons, new backpiece, new armor and weapon stats for exotic and ascended variants, new food, great new skins (both new and nostalgic), and a LS season.
New map is pretty cool
New weapons are interesting
New back piece is acceptable
New armor and weapon stats are worthless and trivial to implement
New food.. now that’s what the people want
More skins are always good
Story was lackluster and predictable as usual, up to the boss fight, which was refreshingly engaging… the first time…
My only hope is that whatever big projects going on in the background mentioned at the beginning of the year are still happening, because unless my friends actually get into the game soon I’m not gonna have much to do after I finish my ascended armor.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Not happening..
“They won’t tell us what they are working on!”
Hmmm, I wonder why….
“2013 is over, did they keep their promises”
“2014 is now half gone”
“sn endgame being developed or what”
“Broken Intentions…”
“Anti-Hype Thread”And that’s just to name the first few threads that pop to mind where we rip the devs apart like they kitten in our Cherrios, when all they tried to do was give us some insight into things that might be coming or where they’d like to go with the game. There are many, many more.
They give some insight on a project and a soft projection as to when they might have it done, and we tear them a new one if something changes. “You lied” “You broke your promise”
They give us so much a teaser for upcoming content and we tear them apart for “over hyping” it.
^This. No matter what they say they get ripped apart for it. As I said elsewhere, if I was a dev and someone asked me a question about the game my permanent answer woudl be, “We can’t say anything about this right now.”
And then they would be kittened because you aren’t saying anything, and we’re right back here. “We can’t say anything about this right now” is stupid. I’m not saying they should reveal all their plans to the players, but they should be communicating more, and they should not be afraid to talk about features they may ultimately scrap. The mistake they made with precursor hunt/crafting was not saying they would and then not doing it, but saying they would and then not talking about it for months, answering questions about it vaguely, and not just coming out and saying “it’s not going to happen” or at least “it’s not going to happen the way you think it is.”
There is a fundamental lack of understanding at ANet about how to maintain effective and beneficial communication with the customer base. Of course they aren’t going to please everyone, but that’s not an excuse for not trying harder to please more people.
The word you’re looking for is “suboptimally,” and unfortunately, there will always be a set of optimal builds for each scenario. But I’m sure ANet has the resources to devote to constantly re-balancing everything as power shifts around in a circle.
You misunderstand me. I’m not suggesting any kind of re-balancing; their entire philosophy on PvE encounters needs to change. There should be mechanics that support the use of conditions/stuns/defense/control/support, not “buff these things until they’re good enough” or “nerf zerkers until it won’t work”.
Mind you that’s still a lot of resources to dump into the game, but a lot more sensible than playing nerf/buff whack-a-mole with PvE balance.
That is kind of right I guess. It is definitely true that DPS is all that matters in PvE, and zerk is the best way to get DPS in PvE. Because of this, anything that is not zerk is suboptimal. Not wrong, but less than the most efficient. PvP allows for a wide range of builds because the scenarios you need to be prepared for vary with the builds of your opponents, whereas in PvE, the mobs are all stupid, and the only way ANet thought to balance them was let them have more health and do more damage.
PvE could use some work, but I think they’re probably not going to change the existing content too much. More likely they will continue to diverge from the typical PvE pattern like they have been by designing new mobs that require different strategies to fight.
Like yeah you mentioned precursor crafting and then you never actually implemented it and people are skewering you for it, but if you would discuss why it hasn’t been implemented people might be a lot more receptive.
More like definitely. “We might say something we don’t deliver on” is such a pathetic excuse. So what if you have to change something? Just tell the players what and why and it should go a lot smoother than the precursor thing.
Anet is the Barack Obama of the gaming world…
They push their own thoughts of what people want instead of actually listening to what people want.
Yeah how did that guy ever get elected.. wait what? By popular vote? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE stop watching Fox News etc.
hey I think i can help a littel, 2 years back when i startet playing GW2, I was paralyzed in the hole left side of my body. my salution to this was to by a http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-naga by doing this i could keybind WASD to the mouse and that way both fight by clicking the skillbar with my mouse, and move by using the keys on the side of the mouse.
I hope this helps and could remove some of the limits you may expirience.
This is a good suggestion, except instead of the Razer Naga, I would strongly recommend the Logitech G600. Having used both, I can confidently say the Logitech is incomparable, and less expensive, to boot.
People constantly… announce that the game is basically perfect and that nothing needs to be changed.
I think that might be exaggerating a little.
Also you’ll find most of the “bashing” that goes on is related to people bringing up topics that have been discussed countless times (typically to no avail). It’s kind of like eternal September. People who have been around for a while are tired of seeing the exact same requests by new forum visitors for things that ANet clearly has no interest in. Doesn’t help that the search function completely does not work.
That said, it kind of shifts. Some days there are a lot of (ostensibly) whiny people with irrational complaints, other days there is an excess of people whose only apparent goal is to put others “in line,” even when they do bring up some valid points. Of course, reality isn’t black and white.
In the end, I have to agree that people are too aggressive on here and online everywhere, but that’s everywhere. We may not live to see a day where this is not the case.
This debate has been responsible for many dead horses so I’ll just leave you to your own definition of logic.
*If you have the time, go ask some sPvPers and WvW Roamers about how utterly useless conditions are.
Conditions should have a place in zerg and dungeon content. I don’t think anyone is arguing conditions are bad in PvP.
The entire PvE design is flawed; if you’re not a might stacking zerker you’re doing it wrong; and that’s bad… mmmk.
The word you’re looking for is “suboptimally,” and unfortunately, there will always be a set of optimal builds for each scenario. But I’m sure ANet has the resources to devote to constantly re-balancing everything as power shifts around in a circle.
I have to agree. It’s pretty clear from that picture that jellyfish are the front-runner for new race, and very qualified.
Questioning how resources are used within a privately held company is absurd.
Why, because they’re incapable of doing things wrong?
Someone linked an auto-level-to-60 scroll last night that was presumably datamined. I would guess that’s at least a possibility.
Also the 25th should be the earliest anyone will get a birthday present.
15charrsofsaddness
Wow that’s like 50% longer than I’ve played in 5x fewer days
And I would guess a nontrivial portion of my playtime is being afk in Lion’s Arch
Lol karka farming comes to mind… yeah it’s pretty frustrating going through several of those without drops. I don’t really know a solution other than just roll your sleeves up and do as much damage as you can.
It’s a plant. Generally speaking, plants don’t have separate sexes.
Umm I dunno how to tell you this, but…
Good grief, even after Anet finally listens to us, people complain >_<
I assume you aren’t including yourself in that?
My 2¢
1. Next update will almost definitely fix this.
2. People who willfully disrupt the (relatively) harmless activities of other players are true jerks.
I ended up going for the Fractal one, for much the reason Ayrilana suggested. I was not aware that you could use watchwork sprockets to get more blade shards, so despite only being 10 shards short of getting the first backpack, I destroyed them. After realizing my mistake, I weighed my options, and the Fractal backpiece was the easiest to get. It doesn’t require any crafting discipline, just doing enough Fractals to get the stuff, which I was already doing anyway to get other ascended gear.
Announcement doesn’t say anything about the previously mentioned “you will have to purchase each color separately.” In fact, they make it sound like that is not the case.
It doesn’t matter who started what, if ANet doesn’t communicate with the players, they aren’t going to make what the players want. It’s that simple.
Backlash is not an excuse to stop trying to communicate. It’s an indicator of when you may have mishandled something, and should be considered beneficial. At least the community is trying to talk to the developers. It’s much quieter in the other direction.
(Don’t read too much into what I’ve said here. I’m not accusing or implying. Just answering in general)
Seriously, why grind simple task and press a few buttons to receive the greatest reward.
Right then, +1 to the number of people who aren’t upset with GW2 at the moment. I’ll add it to the tally to be presented to the gods at the end of time.
Thanks for the heads up?
It’s unfair? I’m pretty sure the requirements to get the item are exactly the same for everyone, so no, it isn’t unfair. You maybe don’t want to put in the same amount or type of work as others, which actually is unfair.
Except everyone isn’t putting in the same amount of work. People who already run fractals and have a heap of pristine relics saved up put in zero extra work for the crafting. People who have never done fractals or have tried them and don’t care to try them again, they will need to put in 10 or more additional hours into crafting this item. So yes it’s an unfair requirement.
Uhh no? People who run Fractals already have already put in all that time, fulfilling the requirement that is the same for everyone. Which is, by the way, of trivial effort.
If you, or anybody, for whatever reason, hates Fractals so much that they refuse to do it even for a reward that they want.. that’s not ANet’s fault.
(edited by Andred.1087)
All I want for my 2nd GW2 birthday is 300 Mini Queen Jennahs
But it still shows up as missing stuffs, iirc.
Yeah I think they did add them in as part of the totals shown on the side of the map.
Commander tags… player speculation with no hard facts… about par for the course for players. I’ll withhold judgement until you know… Anet actually announces the feature.
Precursor crafting… You win on that one, Anet has really dropped the ball here.
You did see the gamescom interview where a dev said yes, they cost 300g now and you have to buy each color individually right? I mean, that was the announcement…
I think Zudet was referring to the 300g per color rumor that players have been spreading around like crazy despite no confirmation (that I’m aware of). It was said 300g would be the cost, and that you would have to buy each color separately, and that there is no particular order in which you must get them, however, it is yet to be confirmed that each tag after the first will be 300g.
Which is really stupid, because if a single person with the relevant information at ANet came and looked at the forums, they could probably make that clarification for us.
It’s been, what, about 5 months since Scarlet destroyed Lions Arch. In that time you’ve built a few coffee tables and platforms in LA and moved in some NPCs. Are you going to leave it trashed and ugly or do something, gradually, to restore it to a city that looks like a…no, the main city of a world should look like?
If Halloween or Wintersday happens with LA looking like it currently looks that’s gonna be ridiculous (“NPCs” putting up holiday decorations but can’t be bothered with cleaning up rubble or fixing any buildings). Plus it currently looks like crap.
It would take alot longer then 5 months to rebuild a whole city. It would have been nice, if in each episode they also added some parts of LA rebuilt. This way you can actually see the progression of it being rebuilt, instead of just one day they have it all built back.
I don’t know about anyone else here, but I could not care less about how long it would take to realistically build the city. Realism is so far out the window in this game, there are few places where that argument can even be made. It’s a fictional universe, and ANet can do whatever they want.
Now, how long it would take to make the content… well, I can’t imagine they haven’t been working on it, so I guess it is taking this long. I just really hope it isn’t a disappointment.
They’re dragging their feet and I think we, as a community, deserve to know why.
Well, my guess is it has something to do with the percentage of players that care about this issue being lower than you think it is.
If it’s not like 5 times nicer than before it was destroyed, I’m going to be pretty disappointed. LA wasn’t even that great before. The city made of boats thing was cool I guess, but it’d old news now. What’s next, they’ll incorporate the remains of the drill when they rebuild the city? Could be cool, but I’m really sick of LA looking like trash. The wreckage scene at LA was old after the first couple of weeks, now it’s just obnoxious. Maybe it’s just bothersome because they haven’t really said anything about it since the Pavilion. It’s getting really annoying how quiet ANet is being.
From the interview with Matt Wuerffel:
(in response to a question about SAB) “We can’t really comment about what our long term plans are for the game…”
Taking it a little out of context, but.. that’s kind of a troubling thing to hear from the company that used to love nothing more than talking about their plans for the game.
(edited by Andred.1087)
I got kicked out of my guild, but the friends I made from that few days was worth it. You don’t know what it’s like to hear “Oh crap. Poetik is here.” on servers you aren’t even on.
You are truly the Hero of Orr.
This kind of thing is basically what my trolling amounts to as well. Purposefully completing events other people want to fail.
Why is that somehow heroic or good? You’re still being a kitten and wasting everyone’s time, I can only assume because you think they don’t deserve to have the option of doing what they’re doing. Vigilantes may be idolized in popular fiction, but they are not welcomed in the real world. Let ANet deal with with things they don’t like.
People don’t understand that as soon as anet will announce precursor crafting, the price of all mats involved to craft a legendary will explode. Meaning mostly T5, T6, ecto, cores and lodes.
A lot of things will be more expensive and your legendary won’t be any cheaper. Those things are farmable (or farmable and promotable) and a significant portion of folk already have most mats apart from the precursor.
There’d be an increase but it’ll go along with an increase of farming.
T6 mats being “farmable” is debatable. Sure you can kill the same mobs in the same zone for an hour till DR kicks in and if you are lucky, you will get maybe 10 of those mats except you need 250 of 8 different mats…..
As for being promotable, sure it is but do you really think the T5 mats won’t double or triple in price considering that everyone knows they are promotable. Not to mention that now everyone is making precursors so the demand for those mats will outweigh the supply since the FG train and Queensdale trains are pretty much dead now.
As for most people already having those mats, I’m sure they do. That wouldn’t effect them really but any newer people would be screwed just like people who have everything but a precursor now. So in effect, someone is getting screwed and the forums QQ will just continue.
And as for an increase in farming those T5 and T6 mats, people already cry about having to farm gold to buy precursors now. Imagine having to farm 2000 T6 mats or a LOT more T5 mats. And the worst part is at least when you are farming gold you can do all aspects of the game. Trying to farm a specific T6 mat requires you to kill a certain class of mobs which I don’t about you but I have killed specific mobs for achievements like 1000 minotaurs and my god that was boring.
Like I’ve said before and others have said, making precursors craftable is NOT going to make it cheaper overall to make a legendary. If anything, I imagine it making more as now you will have the hefty boost to T5 and T6 mat cost plus ectos and I’m sure crafting a precursor isn’t gonna be free. I figure it will be about 500g to just craft a precursor. I’m sure you will need 500 in one or more craft professions.
Re-read what I said “(or farmable and promotable)”
you’re thinking about it wrong but have all the right info available.
T5 mats are excessively farmable, it’s well documented on the wiki what mobs drop with T5 mat, these mobs are in many zones that you’d really only encounter DR if you chose to or are just unaware. Play kittenomeone who recently (4 days maybe) sold all my (fine crafting) mats I’m sitting on average of 12 of each t6 mat, none are bought, I pretty much just do world boss, dungeons and karma train EoTM, during the week I’ll be online an hour or two each night most nights and 4 or so on weekends…given how many I have for the time played, not really something to complain about….that’s under 3 months from just drops.
(I have all slayer achievements apart from giant, I did them as part of the daily kill achievement….just because you can do it all in 1 go, and possibly bore your brains out, doesn’t mean you have to do it all in 1 go, it’s not a race, the mobs aren’t getting rare, they don’t cost you anything to kill, they aren’t doubling in TP cost every couple of months….)
precursor crafting could (depending on how it’s handled) make legendary crafting significantly cheaper for some players….players that aren’t impatient. The biggest hurdle to legendaries are the precursors due to the rarity and ever climbing price point, they aren’t farmable at all, rely entirely on RNG unlike t5 and t6 mats. To make the argument that a precursor is the equivalent to acquire the 250 of the 8 T6 mats is silly, they aren’t comparable, if it were it’d have 0 t6 mats from not actively going for them. Sure the impatient people will likely see no real difference in cost because they’re buying everything from the TP but that isn’t everyone that’s playing.
It may not be everyone, but realistically, how many people do you think would benefit from precursor crafting vs the current system, and how many people would lose out? This game has so many players. Many more than the people who appear to be legitimately upset by the lack of precursor crafting, I’m sure. People can talk all day about a bunch of different ways to implement it, how to mitigate damage to the economy, and make it as fair as possible for everyone, but in the end, if most players don’t mind the way things are, ANet has much more important things to be doing than redesigning an existing system that works as intended and could potentially wreck the economy if changed.
That said… yeah, so the new back piece scavenger hunt… hmm.
The game’s music, of course. Never understood people not doing that
You spend much time in Lion’s Arch these days?
I think it’s worth pointing out this game isn’t made for adults. Obviously not saying adults aren’t part of the target market, but surely not the largest part. There’s a reason it’s rated T, and it probably isn’t because the writers wanted to spent their days writing the cheesiest dialogue since, well, yes, Scooby Doo.
(edited by Andred.1087)
I saw that coming, I was sitting there like “yo am I the only one who thinks we’re going to get attacked now that all the world leaders are in one place?” and Smodo was all like “uhh I got all these ghosts in my backyard pls help who is rytlock”
Admittedly I was not expecting the dragon. Or fighting it solo.
So yes, it’s optional, but at what cost? By dsienfranchising a segment of the playberbase from their major rewards?
“Disenfranchising” lol yeah alright, the noisy minority whining about having to exit their comfort zone to get something they want… why cant I hold all these Q’s
Why not give something everyone would like
If you had something in mind, we’re all ears.
The reason that the main focus on the plot goes to sylvari
is because they meant for the main story to be for sylvari.
Yep. After playing a Sylvari toon, it’s pretty clear that the main story revolves around them. Their timely arrival is like a chance mutation in the world that is instrumental to preventing the utter destruction the elder dragons might otherwise have wrought.
Also, from a creative standpoint, they’re pretty much the distinguishing feature in GW2’s setting. I’m not saying nobody has done tree people before, but at least they’re not elves. Also, GW2 has done a lot in exploring and developing their culture and ideologies, which take good consideration of their plant-ness.
(edited by Andred.1087)
no blame anet for making scarlet
curse you anet etc.
Almost everyone has bad first experiences with Fractals. That’s what happens when you jump into harder content and don’t know what you’re doing, especially when the pool of potential party members is also largely people who don’t know what they’re doing.
It takes a little time to get good at it, just like anything else. And communication helps a lot… many players are quiet when they aren’t familiar with something because they expect to get yelled at if they admit it, but if you don’t know the trick in a Fractal, it’s likely going to be bad for everyone to assume you do and proceed. It’s relatively easy for one person to drag everyone down in Fractals, so it’s much better to just let everyone know if you haven’t done something, and someone will probably explain it no problem.
(edited by Andred.1087)
why make EVERY THING in this game gold base……
Well, as someone said above (I think), it is very much in ANet’s interest for people to need gold, since you can buy it with dollars. And of all the things they could encourage people to pay real money for, this is definitely one of the least offensive to casual players. In addition, one might expect the overlap between players interested in commander tags and players interested in buying gems to be decent at least.
(edited by Andred.1087)
Oh, hmm, and each one will be 300g? Yowch. Also sounds like other colors could become even more of a bragging right.
