A 64-bit system can use the 32-bit client with the -32 command line argument (something I do); but not the other way around. A 32-bit system can never use the 64-bit client.
I know, but you wrote earlier that the client was the same for both and that it detects which OS you use, then automatically launches the game in the correct mode.
That is why I suggested the OP forces the -32 launch option, in case the game client does not work correctly due to some bug.
You can assign secondary key binds to certain actions, that should include the default assignments for MB1 and MB2.
How to show gilder while stay on the ground ?

I’ve just got a basic glider and the glider only show when I’m flying.
But I see some players always show their wing even them stay on the ground. How to do it?
What you mean is the back items that look like gliders.
There are certain back item skins that have an equal looking glider skin: Black/White Feather Wings, Bat Wings, Mursaat Wings, Crystalline Dragon Wings, Moth Wings, Ad Infinitum.
1. Yes, those updrafts are a pain in the behind the first time around. Took me a while to understand that, in order to be uplifted, all you need to do is use the Interact Key (I have it bound to my middle mouse button, the default is “F”, if I remember correctly).
2. There is a branch in the northeast of the circle where you can glide up during the updraft phase and stay clear of any damage.
3. The penalty box is indeed frustrating. It takes you a couple of times doing this mission to learn its mechanics properly and not die.
4. Soloing this mission is not recommendable. It is easiest done with a party.

Maybe not in game tutorial for everything but again : https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page
That doesn’t suffice when you are new to the game and don’t understand basic stuff like skill facts (“combo finisher”, the fact that “allies” includes yourself, etc.), how leveling a skill/trait circle equally adds skills and traits to your character and what those do, and so on. It is all very confusing at the beginning. (Also, many of the images and description in the Wiki regarding the Hero Panel are out-dated.)
Then there is crafting that is extremely hard to grasp without explanation (and there is none in-game).
And these are only two of the many aspects that you need to understand in this game.
That was a funny joke. Asurans not being emotionless and boring… lol.
You are aware of the fact that being patronizing, lecturing, or snappish are emotions as well? You show those by articulating yourself in a certain manner with lots of intonation.
A person (Asura) behaving in any of these ways does not use an unemotional, monotonous (that’s what I meant by “boring”) voice.
P.S. You seem to have trouble understanding that this thread is merely about voice acting.
I don’t think the OP was trying to say that they wanted events replaced with personal quests. I think the actual statement was that ArenaNet has been completely neglecting personal character development (as initiated by the personal story) in favor of events, which is never a good thing in a MMO*RPG* for the RPG part is completely being ignored.
Soon people will turn from MMOs to traditional pen & paper again, because they miss the excitement of adventuring and character progress.
I have only experienced it on the Draconis Mons map, but then again I have only been really killing mobs recently on that map and no other. Since it might be connected to a patch, I can imagine it being an issue elsewhere as well.
well it was 4days 23hours 59 minutes and 59s.
Easier to just type 4 days and when it tick down to 3 you know you have 4 days left.
I was going to write the exact same response. However, when the notification window states “24 hours” instead of “1 day”, that is a little more specific and no sense (as “24 hours” can never indicate “00:00:01 hours”).
This is a general issue in the game, and I think that ArenaNet should change their in-game timer to hh:mm:ss to avoid such misunderstandings.

A 32-bit system won’t use the 64-bit client; only the 32-bit client. The client automatically detects which OS is being used and downloads the pertinent version.
If that’s the case, then I don’t see why this suggestion was made in another thread to begin with. Wasn’t it you who wrote said post?
This is not an issue with the game. When you set it to full-screen and then click outside of that screen, it will naturally minimize (like any other games) as you indicate that you want to do something outside of the running full-screen application (namely on your desktop).
You need to set it to Windowed Fullscrene instead, which will solve the issue.

I mean, have you heard Zojja?
Yes, I can’t stand Zojja for that very reason (annoying voice) but also for the content of her speeches. At least, one can not say that Felicia Day’s performance was lacking intonation — in that regard, she did a great job IMO.
The V/A in the personal story has been cringe-worthy and terrible from the get-go. The Living Story has improved upon this dramatically over the years.
I wouldn’t say that in general. For instance, I loved the job the voice actor of the human male character did.
I’m not sure he was meant to be an inspiring person, exactly. He was a scholar who knew a lot about Zhaitan and he was chosen for his knowledge, not his ability to inspire.
I believe you are wrong. The story mission where the Mother Tree sends you and him into a vision of the future shows clearly that he is supposed to become an inspiring leader. His speeches, once he becomes Pact Leader, are indeed inspiring, only not supported by the voice acting (i.e., inspirational speeches pronounced by a sleeping pill). Many of the dialogues also prove this.
Basically, they choose an administrative person for a leadership role over troops.
My personal feelings is they should have chosen one of the mentors to lead and had Traehearn as an adviser and companion to you.
But still, no one talks like that, at least not where professional voice acting is involved. Trahearne’s voice actor did no intonation at all, and even in scenes where the character was clearly addressing the troops, motivating them for the upcoming battle, the volume and lack of intonation made it sound like he was reading the phone book.
I created a new character only two weeks ago and am currently playing through the original campaign again. And like all the times before, I still can’t get over the fact what an insufficient job the actor voicing Trahearne did.
I mean, he is a core character in GW2, even the most important one in the original campaign. So how come they couldn’t find a different actor or tell this guy to try express emotions? It’s the worst professional voice acting I have heard ever.
Trahearne was supposed to be an inspiring figure, motivating his troups and being looked upon as the hero he never wanted to be. Instead he is sounding like an unemotional robot, plain boring. So boring in fact that I didn’t even care much when he died.
I just checked the Wiki entry, and the actor also voiced several Asuran NPCs in the game. I can’t remember any Asuran NPC sounding like that, though (i.e., emotionless and boring).
What are your toughts on this? Do you agree or disagree, and if the latter then how come?

AH YES, the glorious physics of the elder scrolls horses
LOL! Was this screenshot taken in Oblivion? Oh my, that definitely never happened to me.
nah, the screencap was from skyrim
See? I specifically said Oblivion, not Skyrim. Anyway…
There was a leak that shows evidence of Mounts coming as a form of Mastery but those could be rumors so take it with the grain of salt.
I certainly would prefer that over gliding, ley-lines, tubes, mushrooms and what not.
However, “just translating” isn’t cheap and there’s a lot of text in the game. (And there are issues with the translations of the currently supported languages.)
Yes, I am aware of that. I was just saying that dubbing isn’t necessary. Fortunately, I am fluent in English and can enjoy the game in its original language. I did indeed shake my head over some of the German translations I caught playing with other people. Latest example: “Rock Star”, which was translated into “Meister der Steine” (which means “Master of Stones”).

I get that it was trying to force the use of the glider and whatever bogus mushroom crap is in the game but it was FAR too forced. Its more annoying than its fun.
I start up my SOLO play story line. Let me say this again.. SOLO PLAY Story line. To find out that not only do the NPCs get absolutely annihilated leaving you alone to fight 15+ mobs, but you yourself get zerg gibbed in 2 seconds. Yes i dodged, Yes i tried to avoid everything. At some point you have to try and hit them and thats when you get gibbed.
After dying and grinding my way through a few solo missions and getting to the point where I had to defend the frog village only to once again have every single npc dead within seconds and dying over and over i gave up.
The SOLO PLAY story line is simply not designed properly. Its garbage. And thats it for me, I was COMPLETELY enjoying the game .. right up until the expansion. Solo play is just not balanced properly.
I always wondered why more people dont play this game. Now i know.
I hope the devs have learnt from their mistakes and will make a better second expansion.
You are right that it involved a lot of grinding to get those Masteries levelled (it is a piece of cake to play through HoT on your second and third character, once the Masteries are all up). It was no fun for someone entering HoT for the first time. It was in fact so painful that I didn’t touch it for another six months until I got myself to force myself through the pain of grinding through it.
Anyway, once you are all good and settled with the Masteries, it is actually quite enjoyable. Other than the last mission and certain Hero Points challenges (and the events, of course, but those are meant for squads), you can solo everything in HoT.
+1 for Noxious Pods in one’s home instance.
Can we do something about mastery points?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Ashantara.8731
There are tons that I simply can’t get because HoT maps are DEAD. There’s no one doing the events. How the heck am I supposed to get event-related masteries?
Uhm… what? HoT maps are very much alive. I got all the Hero Points I needed for the Elite Specializations on ten (10!) characters by grouping up with people in order to get the difficult ones, as well as many more through achievements during those maps’ events.
I don’t know what time of the day you play, but here in Europe the HoT maps are highly populated from (early) afternoon till after midnight.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Nobody knows, but it is save to assume that it will be early August the latest (hopefully earlier, in July), seeing as the previous episodes were released within that time frame.
While I don’t particularly miss mounts in GW2, I have to admit that I would prefer a noble steed to silly Spiderman threads and lava tubes catapulting me through maps.
Even if the leaks aren’t true. Broom, Flying carpet, descender etc….
I am sorry, but you can’t compare those to the feeling of riding across the lands on a horse like in, let’s say, TES: Oblivion. Now, that was cool.
While I agree with the OP, as there are several occasions in which it would be very useful to be able to just push-to-talk instead of type (during which you can’t fight nor glide or do anything), I would imagine this being problematic in an MMO.

Voice acting can be quite expensive if u want to get many languages on your game
You wouldn’t have to dub the voices (!), just translating the text and subtitles would be sufficient for many who struggle with English.
@Illconceived Was Na:
It is no secret that a game code, where you change one thing that alters something completely different alongside and thereby messes it up, cannot be considered good coding in the first place. And that is exactly what we have in GW2, with story-missions suddenly no longer working etc., even though the update had zero to do with that specific content.
.
.
.
Anyway, @OP:
I am not a fan of your Gem Store suggestions. The game already has enough effects that can be considered annoying to a certain extent, it doesn’t need the addition of people buying auras and new animations to add to that blinky-blinky “I can’t see ****, where is my toon, where is the enemy??” mess on-screen.
As for the different hues or color versions for a weapon: That would still require there to be different versions of an item with different item IDs, which would additionally complicate coding. You would need to add new database entries with different flags, and with all the database tables linked, it could mess things up even more. It would probably be easier than recoding everyting to make weapons dyeable, but it would still require a lot of work. It’s an idea, though.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Wait, you say you did use auto-targetting, but then state that you miss the feature…
I am confused, what exactly is it that you are asking for? To have a toggle key for activating and deactivating auto-targetting at will?
[Possible Season Two spoiler]
I just did The Dragon’s Reach, Part 2, The World Summit. In it, Anise’s model is a Sylvari.
Did I miss her saying she was going incognito or is this a glitch?
You should spend some time listening to the NPC’s chatter before triggering the arrival of the “world’s leaders”. The dialogue between Canach and Anise explains everything, and yes, she indeed decided to go incognito.
Well, since you people continue using this new thread instead of the already existing one , I’ll copy&paste my two cents below an make proper adjustments now that the new map has been out for a while:
1. Bitterfrost Frontier
I am a sucker for winter-themed maps, plus it looks gorgeous at night. Could have added more waypoints to it, though. It also is most fun, because it is easiest to farm and navigate. The other maps might seem more interesting at first, but after a while you simply grow weary of the artificial obstacles (that you are forced to use certain means of travel, the long distances etc.).
2. Draconis Mons
Even though it is probably my least favorite story-wise (although I rejoiced when I saw M.O.X. and Melandru’s Oakheart Guardians), I simply love the design of the new map. Okay, the layout takes time getting used to, but it is its beauty and variety that really struck me. The only downside is that grinding for the Henge backpack doesn’t take you to all the actually interesting places (like the cave with the grave) but the rather dull ones that get boring after a couple of days. Also, the JP is plain cruel.
3. Lake Doric
While it does look quite triste with all the destruction, its vastly empty spaces and the constant “doom-like” grey skies, it harbors the coolest locations: the forest and dungeon in the North (felt like playing D&D <3), the beautiful cave in the South-East and the nice fishers’ village to the East. Not a fan of farming and daily questing there, though, as there are to few nodes on the map. Also, the triste grey skybox does get depressing after a while.
4. Bloodstone Fen
Has the most waypoints and newly added updrafts, which makes traveling across this map quite comfortable. The leyline streams, however, are mostly annoying, because they often get in your way of farming the Unbound Magic, and it gets even worse with those anomalies popping up out of nowhere — these two things can make roaming this map a highly frustrating experience, and it often takes forever to farm it. Not a fan, even though it looks quite nice. (P.S. Also, none of the events on the map are being explained, so they seem illogical and random to newcomers.)
5. Ember Bay
It simply doesn’t have the charme it did in GW1. In GW1, you had dark-grey rocks with a purple touch, which made the whole place look magic. Now it’s all boring, dusty rocks, murky water, and way too much lava. Plus, the JP is by far the most annoying in the history of GW2. (P.S. Totally loved the humor in the story quests, though!)

Just yesterday, someone posted the exact same issue. Another user suggested it had to do with the 64-bit client on a 32-bit OS (as the 64-bit client seems to be the default client version now).
So if you are using a 32-bit OS, add the launch option -32 to your GW2 shortcut and see if that solves the issue.
I am having those too every once in a while, I assume it’s the Internet as there are no hardware issues (I tested everything). I suppose it is the same with your case.
However, since you are using a laptop, I would check the hardware temperatures as laptops tend to overheat easily.
Just corrected the title (didn’t know it was called “skill fact”), as I saw in the latest Release Note that other skill facts have already been corrected.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
The wiki also states that the items drop from the Daily Chest (and links to the boss/Ancient Chest). https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Element_of_Ignis
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Element_of_Aestus
That explains then why they didn’t receive it: If you have already killed Aestus on the day, the daily reward has been used up (as both count as one event).
There is a need to screenshot and type, the same as why I made a thread about getting stuck in wall structures when using the Oakheart Essence: to see if others have experienced the same issue. Never said I didn’t report the bug in-game as well.
P.S. Also, I doubt a dynamic element like an open door that closes again, which was the cause of the issue, will be “recorded” alongside the information about the coordinates.
BTW: You can play parts of Season 1 already because they exist as dungeon/fractal.
That’s not the same, it is missing a lot of context and all the loving details that were put into the story as a whole. I watched all the story chapters of LWS1, and many were fun and/or epic. You can’t “reproduce” that by scattering bits and pieces all over the place that make no sense unless they are tightly connected, and especially when the parts in between that made the story fun/great are missing.
Are you talking about GW2 or another game?
Yes, storytelling could be much better. But the biggest differences of GW2 to all the other games (I have played) is the high artistic quality and the love for details in GW2 in the world and maps.
I was talking about games these days in general, especially MMOs. They lack any epic atmosphere (due to hastily decisions and bad, forced writing) and are full of bugs. But let’s not go off-topic.
You are welcome.
The game should not be supporting such a high resolution if the code has not been adjusted properly by the devs to fully support it by scaling text size and interface site accordingly.
Have you checked your HDD for errors?
Aestus drops it directly (via chest bobbing at the right side of your UI), while Ignis does not, so you have to manually pick it up from the reward chest that spawns after its defeat.
Since you said you did loot the chest, I assume it must be a new bug as it did drop for me just a couple of days ago.
I only noticed for this two skills in particular, but am certain there are plenty of others as well where the skill description has not been properly adjusted:
Ranger
- Bonfire: The duration of burning applied by this skill has been reduced from 3 seconds to 2.5 seconds.
- Throw Torch: The duration of burning applied by this skill has been reduced from 6 seconds to 5 seconds.
Bonfire still states “Burning: 4 1/2 s”, while Throw Torch lists “Burning: 8 1/4 s”.
Have you checked for overheating issues?
This has been bugging me for years now, is there no way to fix this issue? It looks rather ridiculous.
These screenshots were taken after I opened one of the prison cells. My character was standing a little too far left of the door and got stuck as it swung open, floating above ground, wiggling to get free, but to no avail (it was a rather amusing sight of a helpless Charr).
He only got “unstuck” after waiting for the cell door to close again at its integrated timer.
My question, though, and I am being serious here, is what profession/build could possibly benefit from those stats? Some WvW build, maybe?
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Elementalist and Engineer have this problem because they don’t have a second weapon set :/
I think other professions have been complaining, too?
Anyway, do you guys also have not all sigils available?
No, they do count as Daily Map events; or, unless recently changed, they did. I would certainly never use a Rift Stabilizer to travel to a map. That would take much longer.
As stated by some others, you can get to spots faster that would otherwise take a lot longer to reach (climbing etc.). As also mentioned above, it’s the perfect device for the Dry Top Diving Goggle achievement.
I didn’t know it counted towards daily events, or I would have used it for that purpose. Eek!
I second that, the Backpack looks super cool! Finally something classy fitting in a classic fantasy environment (instead of some cheesy, shiny and often huge monstrosity).
As for the BLC update, couldn’t care less for any of its new content (Who wants to wear anything associated with Balthazar these days after the last episode? It makes you look like you were worshipping a bad joke of a god), nor the new weapon set (Keylocks, really? At least the texture surface looks better than that of the toy-like Frostforged skins…).
