Really?? Have to check that out ASAP.
I can’t find the Sigil of Air or Sigil of Blood (and many others) in my PvP Build list, and none of them is listed as being removed.
What’s going on??
Edit: Btw, I have been refunded only for one, although I purchased some others that are no longer listed…

@JTGuevara, @Ider, @CaptainVanguard: Thank you so much for your posts! They expressed perfectly what is in my heart regarding the current season and GW2’s development in general.
Let me quote my favorite paragraph as a plea to the devs:
Post Expansion 2 and Season 3 should focus heavily on discovery, new things, the discovery of things we have NEVER seen before and peoples we have never MET in our existance. Peoples with their own personal problems, a humbler expansion with just as much threat and evil could be more interesting, it worked for a certain other MMO a few years ago that involved pandas so it could easily work for GW2.
Elementalists do not have weapon swap as an option. This is because they can swap between attunements instead.
This. The same goes for Engineers.
Has support responded to your ticket yet?
But every combination of letters resulting in only two syllables has been taken.
That’s not true. I just tested two of my methods for generating asura names (both for two syllables) and both resulted in available names.
Exactly. My Asuran Engineer’s name is (lo and behold): Bódo
I actually have a different problem with Norn and Humans, namely, I wanted to have a character as adescendant of d’Alessio, alas, you cannot type a name like that, it becomes Dalessio which just looks wrong.
And my Norn.. I wanted my mesmer to be called Jåndal Björsson, but the å wasn’t allowed.. so no d’A of l’O sounds, no å or ø either….
I am kinda disapointed in this limitation

Hopefully by the end of the year. But if you ask me, they can take as much time as they need as long as the content provides excellence story-wise. Don’t want any more of what is currently going on. I miss the actual GW2, for if I wanted a new game I would play something else…
1. Play through the original campaign.
2. Watch this video (as Living World Season 1 is not available for purchase).
3. Purchase and play LWS2.
4. Play through Heart of Thornes.
5. Download/Purchase and play all current episodes of LWS3.
You’re done for now.
@Randulf, you are probably right about the difficulties. Not probably, but definitely. I know it would have to be partially revamped for all the reasons you listed, and IMO (and yours as well) this should have been a priority these past couple of years. Other things could have waited, as neither the video recap in LA nor Fractals are a solution to the problem at hand.
It is clear that ArenaNet has become like all the other companies these days. It is no longer important (as in “the #1 priority”) to produce content of high quality (and I am not talking about the technical aspects of the game, although those often suffer too due to tight schedules). It is more important now to produce quantity, because it is falsely believed that this will bring in the big money. However, a lack of love for all the details that make a game great in the long run, for its story and continuity, quality in dialogue, excitement, and a proper pace of events, make players more likely (and rather sooner than later) move on to something else.
I remember the days in computer game development when fans had to wait a long time for a title to be released, but once the day came, they could be sure the title was going to have the quality of a final product, finished in every aspect, technically (no bugs) and in form and content. Since online gaming became the big seller, developers are in a constant race with their competitors about who throws out the most content most frequently.
So while you can see the love that was put in the making of GW2 and even in LWS1, transporting the idea well of what this game was all about, its character and atmosphere, it gradually faded into a product of overworked game creators who make decisions in a sleep deprived state pumped up on caffeine, stressed out about coming up with “brilliant, new ideas” (when often sticking to your old concept is best). This saddens me, as my expectations for the content (story-wise, i.e. what we were going to do and see of Tyria, what we would discover of the lore and the excitement connected to all that) have gradually faded along with it.
P.S. Yes, WvW has been shamefully neglected as well. I still don’t understand why one needs to invest a fortune into WvW gear when they could have easily adopted their build concept from PvP.

Wait, you are running a dual-GPU system, as in two graphics cards?
As for setting your primary display device: If you can’t find the option in Catalyst or Crimson (or whatever software your GPU uses), then I recommend applying this setting in the Windows Display Settings.
P.S. Yes, it could be that update you mentioned. Read a lot of complaints from Win 10 users.
Okay, because that transluscent bar at the bottom looks about the size of the Windows Taskbar. Are you playing Windowed Fullscreen?
You did not provide any information about your system specs. In any case, I recommend contacting support, they certainly have answers for Windows 10 users as well (which I don’t as I do not use Windows 10).
Well, big mistake or not, you need to take responsibility for it and correct that mistake.
There are so many areas on core Tyrian maps that make zero sense if you haven’t played LWS1!
For instance, the poisonous field in Kessex Hill (Greyhoof Meadows) along with all the dead Seraph plasterted all over the place. Not to mention the many other poisonous spawns/events all across central Tyrian maps.
They leave that content in there without any explanation whatsoever. It’s just sad and IMO bad for the game as story continuity has been broken that way.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
You call it progress, I call it abandoning GW veterans by depriving them of superior content.
I would rather had them work on making LWS1 obtainable content than getting the new LWS3, to be honest. This current story is just bad, with only a few highlights (Canach, killing Caudecus, the Queen defending DR). I feel like they would have made more money with LWS1 than this. I doubt many will want to buy it (if they haven’t obtained it already by logging in in time).
Anyway, just my two cents.
I just finished watching the 3-hour movie and have to ask the same question as many before me did:
Why in the name of the Six isn’t Season One available for purchase?
All events were instanced, so how hard can it be to make it an obtainable content? Seriously. The story is by far the most appealing in GW2! I also want those cool achievements and item rewards connected to it — but I mainly want it become available for its fun and exciting story.
So, what’s the problem, Anet? Don’t want more of my money?
The tree at the forest where Sharoona stands has been bugged for over a week now.
You can no longer use its Bouncing Mushroom without bumping against the edge of the platform instead of landing on it (it fails 50% of the time, the other 50% require a lot of luck and effort to avoid hitting the edge).
Please fix this, thank you.

There is a thread on this exact topic already:
Do you mean the transluscent white horizontal bar?
@SolitaryPillarist:
- As you are using nVidia, I recommend you open the nVidia Control Panel and select “Single display performance mode” under Manage 3D settings —> Program Settings --> Guild Wars 2
- Also, try setting the Preferred refresh rate to “Highest available”
- Make sure your main monitor is selected as Display #1 under Set up multiple displays
@PHRAETUS:
- I’ve never had an AMD graphics card, but I assume there are similiar options for this. See if you can find them.
@both:
- Deactivate Vertical sync (Vsync) in the same settings. Newer PCs (with good graphics cards and monitors) don’t need it; deactivate Vsync in-game as well (F11 —> Graphis Options)
- Before you go into “Windowed Fullscreen” mode in-game, set the Refresh Rate to “Default”. Then activate Windowed Fullscreen
Edit: P.S. Both of you are using Windows 10. To improve your general performance, disable DVR in your Xbox app.

It is part of the armor’s design:
For everyone who is attempting to re-install their graphics driver: Do a clean uninstall first using Display Driver Uninstaller. It is the only program to ensure everything gets removed properly and that there are no remains of the former installation, neither in your files nor in the registry.
I wont recommend to ever use this program,it has bricked my pc a long time ago where after the driver uninstall i got greeted with blue screens everytime i rebooted. had to reinstall windows from scratch.
Manually uninstall it,CCleaner after to clean the registry.
I am sorry you had that experience, but millions of other users, including myself, will vouch for the quality of this program.
Either you did not configure the tool properly, or you didn’t install the latest version before using it (as with each new driver update there is a new version that is suited for the latest driver uninstalls).
CCleaner does not always delete everything in the registry if the system falsely believes it to be a required entry, and it certainly does not delete obsolete folders on your disk. There is no better graphics driver “cleaner” than DDU.
Tbh theres no need of it if you clean with ccleaner anyway,im not an idiot when it comes to pc’s and yes it was configuered properly.it had removed other drivers that i did not select to be removed.
Again, CCleaner does not delete obsolete folders on your HDD, so you have to delete them manually (also the remaining stuff in your Users folder). Go into the three Programs folders (including the hidden one) on your C: drive after uninstalling nVidia without DDU and using CCleaner, if you don’t believe me. You will find remnants of the nVidia installation there. DDU takes care of this, too, CCleaner does not.
And by properly configured I meant the stuff you checked in the DDU Options. Also, as I stated before, you need to use the latest version.
So… just because you don’t like DDU doesn’t mean it isn’t the best tool out there to guarantee a 100% clean and safe uninstall of your GPU drivers and software. Maybe it was an early version when DDU was still fresh, and therefore an error occured, but I can assure you that it’s been a safe tool to use for a long time now. It never messes anything up like, as in your case, deleting other drivers.

Yes, many have posted this already. So far, no confirmation from the devs/support staff on here that this has been noted.
Without any additional information, it will be impossible to provide help.
For starters, which OS do you use?
I am not a “veteran”, as I started actively playing GW2 only one and a half years ago. I have all nine professions and elite specs, but I still often discover new stuff about them as I play, especially with the professions I don’t play very often (for instance, I consider myself a complete “noob” in the Thief profession).
However, even I notice the aforementioned decline in player skill when it comes to basics like movement, when and how to use the skills you have equipped, heck, even simple stuff like upping a nearby player as soon as you can afford to do so (before they die, because rezzing takes a lot longer, and with many maps walking the distance in the meantime, from the nearest waypoint back to the destination, results in less DPS, boons etc. for the whole group of players). Some players seem to just don’t think that far and believe that it’s enough to keep pressing 1 (or any skill as soon as it becomes available, regardless of the current situation in the fight, their positioning, the target and so on).
Two honorary mentions before I start: Wreckage of Serenity and Bria’s Manor I love those spots, their atmosphere, the shadowy/gloomy ambiente, the ambiente sounds, the story behind those two places. Wish there was more there to explore, I see such goosebump potential there!
.
.
.
So… (rubs hands) I am going to keep this to the race’s “home towns” or else it would become an endless post about places I dig.
1. Divinity’s Reach
Plain beautiful, exactly what I expect from a classy city in a classic fantasy world. It is comfy, has a lot of love for detail (like, for instance, the NPCs and their chatter). There are so many things that make me go, “Oooh, I wish I could enter that house!” or “I want more adventure in this place! More exciting story missions, maybe also some dungeon sewer or whatever comes to the mind of an old-school fantasy player.”
2. Hoelbrak (which is, along with many of the Norn names, pronounced incorrectly in English)
That flair of living in the cold, cold north. I simply love the details in the buildings and caves (like the fire places/hearths, the symbols of the spirits of nature, the locals’ town clothing,…) as well as the atmosphere provided by all the NPCs and their dialogue. I only wish one could do more here story-wise!
3. The Black Citadel
I hate the design (all that metal and heat, the place must smell quite awful, yuck!), but I love the complex layout and all the cool hotspots (not just the ruins of Old Ascalon, but also the bars and other places for socializing).
4. Rata Sum
Looks too “sterile”. Yes, I know, Asura are a tidy folk, but it doesn’t really feel like a place to live as it is missing anything that would even remotely remind you of a private housing or a place for gatherings or meetings. Also, there isn’t a single piece of furniture. Surely even Asura need a chair (or anything that fulfills the same purpose) to sit every once in a while and a table (to eat) etc. It just feels like a lot of empty space to me, even though there are a few nice touches to it (the prison, the dancing moa birds,…). I find it a pity that the ground level looks like the remains of a destroyed city (probably Old Rata Sum?), it would have been cooler if the living quarters were there.
I don’t feel the least bit “at home” at The Grove. It is poorly designed, partially cheesy, and the layout is a pain in the behind. The onyl spot I like here is the hidden garden. Also, the NPC chatter makes Sylvari sound like wimps.

Perhaps it’s time to accept the obvious conclusion, that players generally don’t want to be forced into underwater combat. I know I don’t.
So, because you don’t want it you generalize and speak for everyone? Sorry to disappoint, but you are not everyone, and as this thread proves, there are many who love the underwater world. (Underwater combat could be adjusted a bit regarding depth perception, but it is nonetheless quite a lot of fun as it is.)
It’s not a height/length issue, but a severe issue with textures in this game. I can’t count the numerous times I cursed the devs because I couldn’t walk over a flat bump, slipped off a ledge because the texture displayed didn’t equal the walk-able space, and so on.
Add the fact that the self-readjusting camera angle and zoom is making you feel nauseous, and you have the perfect recipe for frustration. I always enter a new JP with enthusiasm (because, basically, I do like JPs) only to be reminded of the cruelty of the design flaws.
I understand what you are saying about the walking surface of some areas in JPs.
Actually, I wasn’t talking just about JPs but the whole game, as you stated yourself you find those design flaws everywhere. I love JPs, I just dislike the general design flaws of walkable paths and texture issues, which become especially hindering when you are doing a JP. I finished them all, and I love playing the game in spite of this frustrating element, but I dare say that it would be a lot better if things acted the way they look. Now half of the skill of mastering any terrain is knowing the area/map well, so you know how to approach a certain spot when you are climbing/jumping on/walking it.
Edit: P.S. Just an hour ago, I was cursing the designers again over this, as my warrior got stuck while fighting Embers is Draconis Mons on a spot that looked perfectly fine to navigate. When I tried to dodge their AoEs, however, I would roll on the same spot, not moving an inch. GG.

@devs. No, please don’t…
Yes, please do! I am so sad that there is so little underwater content. I can’t wait to explore more hidden secrets laying at the bottom of the sea.
Oh geez, you are being serious? There is no (not a single one!) modern professional company in the world that doesn’t automatically back up all their server data. It is a constant process, there are several back-ups being made as you play. Hence it is impossible for ArenaNet to “lose” anything.
This happens to me too every now and then. I have no idea what causes it. I always keep my graphics drivers updated and I haven’t noticed any overheating. Also Ctrl+Alt+Del won’t work. I have tried, but gw2 just won’t close.
Might be your firewall awaiting confirmation about Gw2.exe (or Gw2-64.exe) — have you granted full internet access to this application?
I agree with the OP 100%. It’s not about “doing it faster”, it’s about the fun factor, about exciting and epic story-telling, about adventure.
Its all a matter of guess work on what you should try and try and try again. There is no consistency in the height or distance your character can travel. So we never really get to know the limitations to our character. To be able to establish with confidence “I can jump this distance or i can jump this height”. ..You can find yourself jumping to a height destination never possible before and fail at a height destination previously accomplished numerous times in the past.
It not height/length issue, but a severe issue with textures in this game. I can’t count the numerous times I cursed the devs because I couldn’t walk over a flat bump, slipped off a ledge because the texture displayed didn’t equal the walkable space, and so on.
Add the fact that the self-readjusting camera angle and zoom is making you feel nauseous, and you have the perfect recipe for frustration. I always enter a new JP with enthusiasm (because, basically, I do like JPs) only to be reminded of the cruelty of the design flaws.
Indeed, I encountered a new mesmer : Ro Venombite . Even if she’s just a veteran mercenary, she’s able to break the illusion at 80%, still cast her spells in stealth, port elsewhere, and come back with 100% HP. And this, not only once, but seemingly every time she wants.
Yes, noticed her too and was thinking the same thing: “What in the name of the Six…?” The other named mercanaries in the area are not nearly as powerful as her, and the first time around I also couldn’t believe my eyes.
My eyes are starting to hurt (not joking!) from all the people in outposts running around in shrill colored (mostly celestial white) legendary armor sets. Soon everyone will be wearing them and it will become boring (thank God!).
I didn’t think that, besides the awful (Predator anyone?) designs of the three sets and their ultra-modern Transformers animations, I would also get annoyed by their “shiny” colors on top of everything.
Ugh, there is really no reason for me to continue with the collection, it’s a waste IMO. Besides, I prefer my characters’ more unique and stylish looks.
P.S. I sincerely hope for better legendary sets in the future — more classy fantasy designs with less “modern action movie” extravaganza.

No worries, at some point I intend to play through every level for the achievements.
A Viper’s condition build is superior to a Berserker’s setup. You don’t use the Druid specialization for that one, as you do more (condition) damage with other specializations.
Berserker can be combined with Druid and is a lot of fun to play in random PvE as it is versatile, provides decent DPS, stability and some nice healing. However, that hybid is not very efficient in a group setting, as you either go for heavy damage (Viper’s) or healing/support (Druid).
So if you are out for the best damage build for rangers, I highly recommend Viper’s.

I am using an 21:9 monitor at 2560×1080 res if that means anything.
That’s the reason, it doesn’t happen in 16:9 format. However, your general analysis is correct: Norn, but more so Charr characters are too far zoomed in (worst case: Charrs in the character selection screen):
https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/238212/css_size-scaling.jpg
General things you should check with that or similiar issues:
1. Do you get a BSoD? If so, write down the error code and file listed as the cause.
2. How long has it been since your last clean Windows install? There might be corrupt drivers or system files (for the latter, try this).
3. You can run a full check of your RAM.
4. Have you tried to replace your S-ATA data cable(s) that connect your motherboard to your hard disk drive(s)? If one is broken, it can lead to a sudden reboot (among other issues).
5. Have you checked for overheating issues with your hardware?
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
nice thing they’re looking into this
By the time they finally implement it, I will probably already have collected the 2 backpieces, 8 accessories and 2 rings that I need (due to new builds), and deleted the ones I replaced.
It is typical that they can’t be consistent from the beginning with anything. Take new ascended trinkets and armor, for instance. Everytime there is a new set, it takes them months to make them interactable with the Mystic Forge. Why?
I can second this! It is a new bug — please fix.
Yes, a senior staff member is on the case now. Let’s see what happens, will keep you posted.
As for the question whether I have done Frac Lvl 66+: I have done several beyond Lvl 66, but not 66, no. Why should I? I leveled up to Lvl 66 without doinf 65 or 64 or whatever. There are several gaps, so why would the counter suddenly stop?
- Repair your client.
- Run a higher level fractal on 1-2 different toons, ideally one that you’ve created more recently or one that you’ve never brought to fractals.
- Run a fractal that you haven’t checked off yet.
- Gamble ecto with Tarrktun (this won’t do anything — the pain of losing will just distract you from the pain of suffering a unique bug, like hitting your finger with a hammer to take your mind off a broken toe).
- My client is fine, I have repaired it many times in the past, it had no effect on this issue.
- I can’t run a higher level on another char, as I don’t have AR on any other char.
- Will do, if there is no other solution.
- Very funny.
Also, can’t open a tier 4 myself, as I am Frac Level 66.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Good question. I wouldn’t mind either, although certain friendly effects are important to see. They could tone everything down a bit, though.
Players should be permanantly account-banned from participating in Ranked PvP when they have been reported for being idle or not connecting (or only connecting after a minute into the match, or disconnecting during the match) several times.
This is unacceptable!
P.S. Other games ban accounts from competitive when the player has been reported and convicted of griefing more than once. So should GW2.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Aren’t recepies account-bound, so that you can use them on any char and all will automatically learn them, too? So no need to move anything.
P.S. Of course, that doesn’t make it less strange that you can only buy them on specific characters…
1. Have you installed your monitor driver?
2. Is your monitor connected to the PC with the correct cable (DVI, not HDMI)?
3. Is your GPU driver up-to-date?
4. Have you installed all available motherboard updates (including BIOS)?
5. Have you checked for overheating issues? Also, has your graphics card a dynamic fan that adjusts the fan speed to the current temperature?
6. Have you checked whether all cables are properly attached (monitor, PSU, S-ATA etc.)? If so, have you also exchanged some data cables to see whether the old ones are broken?
7. If you are using the same hard disk drive as in your old rig, have you checked it for possible errors?
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
I don’t know how long you have been trying, but if it’s been hours, I would check if GW2 has access to the internet through your firewall. Maybe it’s being blocked.
The entire tone of the game is like that though. Banter, quips and semi-serious-to-serious dialog is pretty much what everyone gets, even the passive-aggressive, narcissistic Asura.
You can do that with class, too, instead of childish humor that only a ten-year old would find hysterical…
Excellent point! This is one of those things where there really is no way to please everyone.
Like I stated many times in my previous posts: It can’t be that hard (as in, yes, it is feasible) to slightly differ the dialogue for every race to fit their racial demeanor and tone (so that, for instance, a Charr character wouldn’t come across as a teddy bear). It is not that hard to set flags in programming that say, “If character Charr, then select response #3.” They can speak the same in content, but phrase it according to their race. Not that difficult, really.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Nothing there (yet), either. Have you watched it and can answer whether they intend to implement reset options for the other items as well?
Don’t ask me. I think the free-to-GW1-players Fiery Dragon Sword looks legendary.
It totally does, doesn’t it? <3
