I am so happy that in the story we didn’t get USA politics.
That’s irony, right?
It must be, because — even as a non-US citizen — I could see the innuendoes, which got quite a few smirks out of me.
For my money (and I would actually pay money, or at least gems, for it, although I think it should be provided for free) there should be fully non-combat versions of just the story for all “Personal Story” and “Living Story” instances. It’s not because I can’t do the fights – I already did this final boss, first time, pre-nerf. It’s because I am not interested in the fighting I’m interested in the non-combat interactions.
Just make a fully non-combat version of the same content each time – as-is but with mobs removed and fights replaced with cut scenes. Remove all the rewards, none of which are of any use or interest anyway. Let players choose whether and when to do the fights or just watch and listen to the dialog and cut-scenes.
As it is I do each episode once and once only on a single character on one of my three accounts then I’m done. In fact, of late, I then go and play other MMOs instead. If I could take my other characters through a non-combat version, however, I’d go through it several times because I want to see how/if the dialog differs for different races/classes/genders. Not enough to do the fights twice though.
Now, that is one horrible idea. If you are this little interested in the game, I suggest you stop playing? Asking the devs to make several versions for people who are too lazy/not interested as much is quite impertinent IMO.
Guys, there is an official feedback thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Official-Feedback-Thread-Episode-4-Head-of-the-Snake-1/
@Svennis: Agree with every single one of your points, especially the map completion vs. story arc forcing you to do everything all over again, because you didn’t know (majorly annoying, as I did the map completion first as well). As for Kasmeer, she’s been on a mission with Anise — hopefully we’ll find out more soon. Love Canach, too, so I do hope we will see more of him!

So you had your pet or minions deal the damage while you were simply running in circles? Nice, but what about professions that don’t have pets nor minions (or not even decent ranged damage skills)?
Ranger here, so yes, I had my pet on him the entire time, and used my staff for personal damage, so, not high. Will give the encounter another shot with pet on passive to see how things go then.
See? That makes all the difference in the world. As I stated before, I found it easy to master on my Ranger as well, but I am having major trouble with this fight on my Revenant.
So please, people, refrain from “It was one of the easiest boss fights!” posts when you don’t have the comparisson.
Update: I just got the achievement. It seems that you have indeed to not only destroy the catapults but also defeat the Centaur Boss before he reaches Nolan’s Homestead.
I never got the chance to play the original version, but this one wasn’t even an effort – maybe the easiest “boss-fight” so far. I simply ran in circles in the room, didn’t even need to dodge, picked up the shards and threw at him, counter magic as soon as the icon lit up. Seriously, what was the big issue with this fight?

Female animations are bad overall.
As a woman, I feel silly to watch my female Norn warrior’s /sit animation to look like that of a noble lady with an inbound geriatric hip issue.
I also hate how human females run.
I hate even more how all human females have super-narrow shoulders, like all women were fragile barbie dolls. And don’t get me started about the anorexic body models, like women are either fat or anorexic, and if they aren’t then they must have strong body muscles and huge boobs and butts.
(facepalm)
These are some of the reasons why most of my characters are male.
It looks silly, period. The ugliest backpack I’ve seen this far. Seriously, who wants to wear a hyperdimensional scroll on their back that no humanoid could ever hold in their hands?
If you ask me, you should change its skin or make it 1/4 its current size. All the new Lake Doric items are ridiculously gigantic.
That NE corner with all the Centaurs. There is no way that I see to complete it. Surely they don’t expect me to be able to beat dozens of Veteran Centaurs at once, right?
You forgot about all the Champions and Stampedes.
Yes, you are supposed to join a farm zerk and overrun the place — it’s the only way.
Because ArenaNet kitten loves kittens and decided to kitten players who are allergic to kitten cats by kitten adding only kitten kitten for the kitten home instance
P.S. I didn’t use swear words, I inserted all the kittens myself. Kitten awesome, right? (runs away traumatized by too many cats occupying my home)
A cat is making me type this right now.
~help me~
LOL!
Please increase the radius of the room and remove the barrels.
The latter often stop your dodge roll, you get stuck and thereby hit by the attack you were trying to dodge.
Due to the fact that the room doesn’t allow a good view on the situation (especially when you are close to the wall, where the bloodstone barrels are), you often end up downed when you actually did everything right (used the Special Skill in time, dodged in time etc.).
For certain professions that constantly need to switch weapon sets, transformations or skill sets such as the Revenant’s, this is an impossible (or at least majorly frustrating) task.
This is still bugged, I can’t finish the achievement! Liberated Noran’s Homestead about thirty times now with the Seraph, but nothing happens…
Please help!
No problem with Saidra’s Haven or New Loamhurst. But I have stopped counting the many times I have already liberated Harvest Cascades from the White Mantle as well as the centaurs, yet I am not receiving the achievement.
all I had to do was press Special ability in time and avoid all the circles and telegraphic attacks. Interesting fight, medium difficulty, I had fun!
I think most people keep missing the importance of using the Special Skill during certain fights. It’s there for a reason.
I didn’t find it that difficult, to be honest, as dodging seemed to work most of the time. But then again I played as a Viper Ranger and maybe my pet tanked a lot of the damage. Will check back once I played that part with my Revenant.
When will we, the players, ever get our hands on these beautiful and stylish made NPCs outfits?
Aswell the Villagers outfits!?
Specially the new villagers’ clothes in the Lake Doric!
I couldn’t agree more and was thinking the same thing (once more) last night.
Many of those clothes look so much better than the available armor sets.
So why does it concern me about the future of this content?
Since we have so many episodes a new player will buy the game will have to obtain these episodes by purchsing them for a big chunk of gems […]
So what? Makes up for the fact that they, unlike us, didn’t have to pay for each expansion separately but got all of them for approximately 23 bucks.
I also laughed hard at that. There were quite a few elements in this episode that got me, be it humorous ones or references to former content per se. This episode was rich of awe.
(cont’d)
Miscellaneous stuff
- Teaser trailer: The trailer was misleading, but I am happy it was for the reason mentioned above (a more severe destruction of DR and Kryta would have been devastating, but also hard to implement into existent content, so praise the Six!).
- Leather farming: Okay, now that seems like a bad joke. You might want to reconsider and rework that, because it’s hardly doable alone and the nearest waypoint feels miles away, hence dying is frustrating. I assume you intended to make this a daily event for people to gather and defeat the centaurs together, but it will take time for this to establish as a group thing (if ever).
- New Seraph stats combo: Oh my, now I really hope you’ll fix the ascended PvP armor and trinkets soon so that stats can be changed in the Mystic Forge (in case this leads to a new meta for certain professions, although I can’t see that happen yet).
- Area transitions: Why are those one-sided, as they cannot be entered from the opposite side? That felt weird and led to a bit of frustration, for I was curious and then had to teleport back to a waypoint far off in order to return to were I exited the map.
Thank you for an exciting new episode, ArenaNet!
I stayed up all night to play through the new content — I just couldn’t stop! (Who needs sleep anyway? )
Plot
- Good job, felt great to play through some classic fantasy content. The classic villains, the classic heroics, a story of suspicions and betrayals — simple, but efficient, and especially fun due to some unexpected twists and turns. The puzzle at the end was a nice touch, more of that in the future, please! Caudecus’ statue heads following your every move and the spinning room where very cool. Demmi dying broke my heart, what an unexpected twist! The pace felt right, especially the way dialogue triggered in this episode (nothing was overlapping etc.).
Characters
- Logan: I loved how a bruised and battered Logan showed up to protect his Queen, and felt so bad for him when he finally realized his feelings for the Queen are unreturned and never will be. At least now he can move on. He has been by far my favorite NPC in the game and I am glad they gave him story material in this episode.
- Jennah: When I played the first chapter, I was constantly muttering something along the lines of, “Oh no, don’t die, Jennah! Where is Anise to protect her??” Turns out she can take care of herself. That movie and tv reference of her scaring her enemy’s henchman off was classy and very funny. I knew there was more than one reason I have been a Jennah fan, although I got a bit upset with her for leading Logan on for so long (she could have talked to him a long time ago since she had obviously been aware of his feelings all along).
- Anise: I used to like her in LWS 2, but in this episode I felt that she was acting out-of-character most of the time. She had never been this brash in such a merciless and vengeful manner before. What happened?
- Demmi Beetlestone: It felt so cool to have her back! All the references to previous content was welcome. I really liked her and wished we could see more of her. Her death struck me unexpectedly hard, to be honest. Nice story-telling there.
- Caudecus: The typical sociapthic megalomaniac, so I am not surprised he was able to recruit other ministers to his cause. However, for some reason, I am still feeling rather indifferent towards him. I also find the whole plot surrouning the fake Lazarus a bit implausible, although the danger for Jory and the whole group is an interesting story twist.
- Nylia Steelpaw: Not much to say about her (yet), but I found it amusing that you used the voice of Estelle for her character, now that Estelle is no more.
- Everyone else: A shady merchant who treats his employees like slaves, hate him already. A captain who used to make sight-seeing tours and is now stranded, well, I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of him either.
Locations
- Lake Doric: Love it! Finally an area where you feel “at home”. I was getting tired of all those exotic forest locations. This felt like a classic RPG at last, thanks to the wonderful dungeon area (classic D&D touches), the beautiful cavern filled with flowers and waterfalls (swooning here), the fortress, the dam, and the small townships. I loved every detail about it (except the partial destruction and some annoying jump spots).
- Divinity’s Reach: Thanks for taking us back to my favorite place in all of Tyria, and thanks for not tearing it down (insert sigh of relief).
Story missions
- I loved every single one of them. Especially exploring Caudecus’ manor in detail was mucho fun, and I loved the final battle. However, you might want to rework one thing: when you die during the final battle, you have to teleport back into the chamber — however, due to loading times, you almost always find yourself immediately downed again by the time you are “back in action”; changing the spawn point in the room to somewhere safer than at Caudecus’ feet would be a good idea. I died three times, twice due to this very problem.
(to be continued)
I gathered all letters and finished the achievement, yet the item still says “(Incomplete)”.
Thanks you!
Can someone hint me to the correct thread? The one Gaile started on Tuesday?
I seem to be unable to find it, but then again it’s 4:30 in the morning and I haven’t slept yet. ^^
Thanks in advance!
I actually thought that was the normal way to get there. At least that’s how I got there first.
@OP: GW2 has always had challenges in regard if map completion. This one is certainly easy compared to some others, so I don’t really get what you are upset about.
I always liked Queen Jennah and Logan and don’t understand why people kept badmouthing them. Apparently, you have to be “bada**” to be liked by today’s youth. (head—>desk)
Edit: Just finishing up. Yes, I wonder too where she and Kasmeer had been earlier. I’m sure there is more to come.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Also, does it really matter? What difference does it make?
I don’t know what triggered it, but the door was open when I went there. I suppose it is event-based.
Can’t say I am a fan of this idea.
Neither am I, as it is impossible to solo-farm (unless you manage to run through in a hurry, but even then you are bound to die eventually, and the nearest waypoint is on the opposite side of the map).
Bug #1:
Regarding the conversation with Taimi via communicator in the Northwest of the new map. Starts with the Commander saying, “A house? Out here?” Taimi’s voice has not been distorted, so she sounds like she was actually on location with us.
Bug #2:
Energy orb cavern to the Southest (the beautiful one with the waterfalls and stairs). Dialogue with one of the villagers has “Exit” as a response option as well as “Exit.” as an option to end the dialogue. It is obvious that the response option was supposed to be an intelligent sentence instead of “Exit”, as the villager responds in agreement.

Where is that official feedback thread again? I’m in love!
The new episode: love it, love it, love it! <3
Hah hah, Lake Doric after all! And boo to all who were in denial of Logan’s love for Jennah.
Hey guys, i just found the HQ of ArenaNet.
No wonders why they’re so slow.
???
Logan is a bit of a wuss. That’s why I find him annoying. Braham is a positive menace, a loose cannon.
Like I said, Braham is an immature annoyance with his “hipster language” and his childish agenda. Only kids can find that to be “cool”.
Why do you consider Logan a “wuss”, just because he has normal feelings and isn’t emotionally and mentally screwed up like the others?
So in her simulation, the destroyers are not immune to burning…
A fault in her simulation that may be indicative of future errors on her part?
Or something else?
Errr… they are never immune to burning in all of GW2.
I will gladly point you to the Wiki
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Destroyer_Troll
Destroyers in core tyria, aside a few smaller incarnations, are immune to burning.
It’s why, when Ember Bay was announced, many people feared that Guards would not be able to enjoy the content.
Okay, seems like I haven’t killed many destroyers then in central Tyria. But in all of Season 3 (not just Ember Bay, but also during story missions), destroyers are perfectly vulnerable to burning.
So in her simulation, the destroyers are not immune to burning…
A fault in her simulation that may be indicative of future errors on her part?
Or something else?
Errr… they are never immune to burning in all of GW2.
LOL! Too bad I am located on the other side of the big pond.
I think this is more appropriate to calm some people’s nerves:
:)
Meanwhile at Anet
LOL, good ol’ Jack. Still prefer such horror movies to the modern splatter trash.
Anyway, let’s hope they are not losing nerve there, as I can imagine this being majorly nervewrecking when it happens at your company.
They are likely still working on the issue.
Thank you, CaptainVanguard, for your in-depth analysis. I think you really nailed it.
I do not understand why anyone would hate Logan. I think he is the most likeable of them all (besides Rox). He isn’t annoying in any way, like all of the other characters are on occasion: they are either annoyingly naive (Kasmeer, Caithe, Taimi up to LWS3), annoyingly arrogant (Taimi most of all, but also many of the others), annoyingly “hip” (mostly Braham, whatever comes out of his mouth just makes me want to smack him in the back of the head, he sounds like a 13-year old), annoyingly sarcastic and/or patronizing (Rytlock, Taimi, Zojja). Logan is just loyal and human in his ways, and I like his agenda most of the time.
What are the commander tag colors representing?
Did you really need to make another thread for that? I already answered your question the first time around.
Most of the U.S. has very old electrical power supply lines, many of them above ground. That goes even for big urban regions. That is why a blizzard affects them easier than in other parts of western civilization. (I was quite shocked when I visited the U.S. for the first time, out-of-date infrastructure, heavily chlorinated tap water, …)
Every commander can pick a color they like, preferably one that is not already in use by another commander. That way, you will be able to distinguish between them when there is more than one on a map. Makes sense, no? Otherwise, it would get quite chaotic when several commanders are running different lanes on an event map.
Edit: LOL, the OP deleted their question and now our responses look a bit silly.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
I saw the living season 2 in the gem store but only episode 5 is available, is there any way to get all?
You have already unlocked the remaining episodes by logging in at the time of their release, that is why you are only seeing the content you can still acquire (i.e., that you have not unlocked yet).
everyone knows about that not sure what you are saying with this what i and a lot more ppl is to have an answer if it would come on the 7th or not. And im sorry i didn’t know to watch the american weather for yday to be sure if i or whoever else should skipped w/e(btw they talked about the power outage like 6 hours ago not yday)
Seven hours ago was still yesterday local time in Seattle. Actually, there is still over an hour left of “yesterday” there.
I am becoming very disappointed with all the filler content. Current events and now this another city tear down we will see just how long it is before the clear it up and do more filler I am starting to believe Anet is more focused on pvp leagues and tournaments then they are in the pve / story aspect of the guild wars 2 tale.
Why don’t you wait for the content before placing jugment?
So no evacuation OK?
And I don’t want […]
Don’t you think it’s a little late for requests 17 hours before release?
I am curious to see how any attack on DR can be implemented in the game at all, since they can’t change the current status of maps for everyone like they did with LA in S1 (inconsistent for people who are just starting their personal story). Will there be two versions of DR then? Will players who enter Queensdale for the first time get on a different map instance as everyone else? Either would be an enormous programming effort on behalf of ArenaNet and I can’t imagine that. Maybe DR, yes, but the other “old” maps will only be changed in story instances I take it.
