It’s ridiculous how one is being tricked by ArenaNet these days. By adding the “seasonal gift” to each BLC, they significantly reduced the number of valuable drops per chest. Adding the chance of a fourth slot drop doesn’t make up for that fact.
Previously that slot was taken up by a booster so unless you’re counting boosters as valuable drops then there isn’t a significant reduction.
As far as I recall, the booster wasn’t in each chest but only by chance, no? Or does my memory trick me on this one?
They refused refunding me the currency I wasted on the infused ring that’s un-attuneable. They said they were unable to refund the ascended currency.
A problem with all Ascended Gear gained from PvP. Support promised they were working on it. So maybe 6 months from now… one can only hope. ^^

Is it just me or has the AI become dumber after several updates within the past year?
I am currently playing the original campaign with my elementalist, and even when I port myself, after I have entered the downed state, to an NPC that isn’t currently in an aggro zone, they still would just stand around ignoring me (and the enemy) completely — neither are they engaging in the fight nor helping me back up. They would just leave me lying there, fighting for my life. Then again, when we are all surrounded by foes, it takes those NPCs forever (if at all) to engage in the fight and help defeating our adversaries.
For the love of the Six, what is this? It is majorly annoying and eventually results in unnecessary deaths and lots of frustration. I don’t remember the AI behaving this braindead a year ago…
Edit: P.S. The same thing happens in other campaigns. Let’s take LSW3 Ep.3 as a recent example. Sometimes Rox or Braham would up you when you are down and laying next to them, on other occasions they simply ignore you and let you die.

It’s just crazy, and waiting for ArenaNet to address a global issues like that seems like taking forever. One really has to wonder where their priorities lie.
- Where is my Mini Fawn?
- What happened to the Aetherblade armor sets?
I truly hope that Elona and Cantha will find their way back into GW2 by respective content. It’s what made GW1’s lore and maps so versatile and fun to play.
There still is a dialogue option that asks for your character’s heritage, and one of mine has their roots in Cantha. I want Canthans and Tengu and what not. Give this game more cultural depth! (And stop calling every player who happens to have a character with Canthan roots a “weeaboo”, it’s a ridiculous assumption.)

While I am all for using my Scribe (who is max level) for personal housing decoration in my home instance (something I have been hoping for for a while now), I can’t agree that decorating a guild hall wasn’t satisfying — it works extremely well in my guild as we are basically just two people responsible for it, and it looks awesome. Altough, I wish there were more items available (for instance, it is ridiculous how common trees are put in vases, wth?).
It’s ridiculous how one is being tricked these days. By adding the “seasonal gift” to each BLC, they significantly reduced the number of valuable drops per chest (skins and skin unlocks, and the like). Adding the chance of a fourth slot drop doesn’t make up for that fact.
Male Norn look absolutely repulsive IMO. Why female Norn look like beautiful Humans (only bigger and with nicer body shapes, especially their shoulder length and leg position), while male Norn look like shapeless meatballs with tiny heads and ridiculous feet (ten times their head size), is beyond me. It is nearly impossible to find decent armor for a male Norn to make them look like stout warriors instead of ugly bulks.
Anyway, back on-topic: I would love to see some decent short haircuts for men and more (cool) beards. So far, the only decent male short haircuts are boring ones, while the ones with interesting elements (like shaved parts) all look ugly as hell. Also, there are no decent shaved full beards etc. Stop adding ridiculous new hair and eye colors and do something about the lack of (facial) hair variety.
you can get ascended rings for (basically) free if you do fractals
These days, the best source for any ascended trinket is farming the LWS 3 maps, especially since they are the only ones in normal PvE (i.e., outside of Raids) that allow you to choose the new stat combinations.
Before that, it was like this:
Rings —> Fractals (NPC)
Amulets —> Laurel Merchant
Accessories —> Guild Commendations
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
It worked the SECOND time I acquired the book. What a waste of gold and karma!
Somebody needs to fix this bug.
Double-clicked it, but the collection did not unlock.
Yes, I have the mastery, and no, didn’t face any similar issue with neither Howler nor Bolt.
What did I miss?
Bump in hopes the devs will see this and fix it soon.
Quick summary:
- infused Mist Band can’t be attuned
- ascended PvP armor (Ardent Glorious) can’t interact with the Mystic Forge for stat change, nor can it be salvaged
- icons for both Mist Band and Mist Amulet are falsely displayed as Bloodstone trinkets
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Here’s a full report about the circumstances, with links to the GM post as well as the video: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-32654414
Yes, that’s happening 90% of the time and is majorly annoying. Given that this event exists since 2012, it is quite embarrassing that this bug hasn’t been fixed yet.
It’s not their rig that is stuttering during gameplay, it’s just the recorded video (probably not enough RAM). Some ppl are either ignorant or arrogant about their finances which allow them to buy high-end hardware.
I am still waiting for this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wintersday_Minis_3-Pack
They are rats, so they have claws.
They used to live under ground, it would be logical for them to have claws to dig out dirt and such.
This.
Maybe the term I used was incorrect, I am not a native speaker and in German we have a non-Latin term for the group of species I was referring to (yes, rat-like or rather like moles).
I think once a beast or creature has opposable thumbs you get to speak of “hands”, so ya the asura have hands not paws
By that logic all apes must have four hands.
@Alpha: If the game was “dying”, there wouldn’t be so many people playing it as well as new folks joining the community (we had three new and one returning players joining our guild just in the course of the past two weeks).
Yeah, you can judge how game is going by 3 ppl going back to your guild… ok…
Check this out https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Having-a-look-at-GW2-long-term-results/firstAny bug should be solved in 24 hours since it appeard, else you lose your customers trust, they lost mine long ago, however I can also understand that this will take their time to fix this, as they dont pretty much care about the few pvp players out there.
Do those numbers include the F2P players? I guess not. You were initially talking about the game’s whole population, not only to the paying clientele, no?
Just remove the “-en” (or “-de” or whatever language you are using) part from the URL and it will load normally.
The same players will be at the top. Don’t delude yourself.
no no no no no its going to be a complete reversal all the current bronze players will become Pro’s overnight and all the legendary and esl players will be outed for the no skill hacks they really are…… lololooolooloolol
Wow, what a mature post. Very helpful.
Especially since it is complete beside the point the OP was trying to make. S/he wasn’t talking about the pros, genius, but about all the other players who aren’t all on the same level just because they aren’t pro players. (head—>desk)
Make that 1049 active players, I just quit.
Why?
- nooby teammates 75% of the time who ignore team chat, map pings and target calls; also, many don’t know most maps’ directives (they need to raise the level at which you are allowed to play Ranked)
- unbalanced team constellations (two Mesmers, two Elementalists, one Guardian on the opposing team; or three Necs, a Thief and an Ele — wth, you call that balanced??)
- being lied to that the Byzantinum chest reward was “repeatable” (couldn’t finish my armor set nor my ascended backpiece, because I didn’t know this earlier!)
- rude players (frequent flaming, bragging, AFK’ing or disconnecting, and other childish nonsense)
GG, ArenaNet, I’m out (and I only started a few months ago). Waste of time.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
What in the name of the Six happened to my 250 Ascended Shards of Glory the second time I finished the Byzantium chest???
So I can’t complete my armor set? Are you kidding me?? It said “repeatable”, which is why I picked trinkets first (which btw are bugged, too, as the ring can’t be attuned!) before starting with the armor set. Couldn’t you have made this clear? (Also, no five transmutation charges.)
How typical, nothing in this game is self-explanatory, everything needs to be discovered by yourself and then you run into plenty of unpleasant surprised. GG, ArenaNet, GG.
P.S. I am done with League PvP. I didn’t even receive any more PvP League Tickets! Seriously?? Now I can’t even complete my Ascended Backpiece! Wow. Had I know earlier, I wouldn’t have gotten the trinkets in the first place, nor wasted the tickets on miniatures. What a (bad) joke.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
@Alpha: If the game was “dying”, there wouldn’t be so many people playing it as well as new folks joining the community (we had three new and one returning players joining our guild just in the course of the past two weeks).
The Rime-Rimmed Mariner’s Rebreather effect is unfortunately attached to the item, not to the skin.
This. You can’t transfer it to any other item, therefore it can’t show up in your wardrobe either.
Wow, and there I was, naive me, thinking that there was fair play in GW2 PvP. How stupid of me.
Why ruins PvP? Mostly this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Reasons-players-are-unhappy-with-PvP/
I agree with the OP, although I have to admit that I just threw a match myself. Why? Because I was sick and tired of having one match after another filled with noobs who don’t care about pings, who don’t read team chat, and who stick to their initial “strategy” even when they see it’s not working in the current match and they are required to adjust.
I am stuck in Bronze hell because of this, and it’s no fun at all. If what the OP suggest was in place, things would be very different and I could be in a higher rank by now.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mist-Band-can-t-be-attuned/first#post6446634
Summary:
- they will fix the rings (make them interactable with the Mystic Forge)
- they will (probably) fix the armor, too
- they will (hopefully) fix the trinkets’ icons as well
P.S. I think it’s not being mentioned enough how great this game’s support is. I haven’t seen any other game (even the ones owned by big money companies with many more employees) that has even a nearly as friendly and helpful support as GW1+2.
You still have the annoying, random blood-crazed screams, although I keep wondering what that’s all about, since my characters were already “cured”.
I just received the following response from support after asking to have the issue forwarded to a superior:
Hey […],
I wanted to let you know to please hang tight for a bit. The ring is likely to be fixed as there were other items that were missing additional upgrade choices as well. Please keep an eye out for the forums as there is likely to be a global announcement.
Regards,
[…]

So they are working on it.
Actually, they have claws, not hands. They are obviously cricetids.
P.S. My two asuran characters are “brothers” from the same brood.
I do believe this is a bug, one which I have encountered on all characters this far. It feels off that there is utter silence, especially if you play without music.
1. Rox’s Quiver
2. Practical Scribe’s Backpack
3. Mawdrey
4. Hoelbrak Mointain Pack (I hate the horns, though)
5. Light of Dwayna
6. Bough of Melandru (looks silly as a backpack, but is so beautiful per se)
7. Universal Multitool Backpack
8. Intricate Leatherworker’s Backpack
9. Guild Backpack
10. Zephyr Rucksack
Be quick, pick up a snowball in advance, press 1 and wait for the next wave of skritt to appear, then aim as quickly as possible.
Yes, there are quite a few players who ignore the daily and make it hard for others to achieve. Also, there are some children who deliberately knock other players (who try to hit the skritt) off their feet.
@Nightshade: I never mastered the Mad King’s Clocktower, so I feel your pain. But with the Winter Wonderland, I tried a new approach, and it makes the JP a piece of cake once you’ve mastered the basics (also, unlike the Mad King’s Clocktower, you respawn immediately, which helps because you are still in the swing of things!).
So, how to learn mastering Winter Wonderland:
- Deactivate the sound. There is nothing adding more to the stress than the sound of breaking ice behind you and the sound of other players jumping etc. It really helps you focus.
- Ignore the health bar. You’ll never become a calm, focused jumper, quick enough to get through this JP, if you panic about your decreasing health all the time.
- Keep your focus. Ignore everyone else, and if you feel like they are in your way, wait a second for them to jump to the next platform so that you can keep a clear view on your toon.
- Use the left path. I find it to be the easiest.
- The blue boxes. Once you reach the gift boxes/stairs, don’t jump if there are too many other players. Wait for it to clear up a bit. If you are alone, the better! Because if you wait a second after the gifts respawn, you’ll get an extra set of boxes that make the jump extremely easy.
- Chant. Nope, not kidding you. Either put on some motivational music and sing along, or try motivating yourself by talking to yourself (“This is easy, I can do this, I will succeed” etc.).
Yep, sounds crazy, but hey, no one is watching you so just give it a try.
Good luck.
P.S. I went from being unable to master this JP to finishing it within ~2-3 mins of time in merely a couple of days! It just takes practice, focus and — most importantly — a calm mindset.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Seriously, ArenaNet, are you kidding me?? Do you have ANY idea how many matches I’ve lost because some player never connected?
How hard can it be to program PvP so that a match gets automatically cancelled if one of the players don’t connect upon match start? Other competitive games’ developers can do it, so why can’t you?
Your PvP truly can use improvements on a basic level. For instance, when a team wins, all map NPCs should vanish and all players should freeze on spot so that everyone can take their time to read the match’s scoreboard instead of having to fight for their lives because they are still being attacked and can’t see a thing due to the scoreboard popping up.
Yes, I am majorly annoyed right now. How did you guess? Merry Christmas…
It’s truly outrageous. People spend a lot of time playing PvP in order to accumulate those Ascended Shards of Glory, yet the ascended gear that can be purchased with it cannot interact with the Mystic Forge (which is especially bad for the ring as it is already infused yet can never have another AR slot added to it through attunement).
I had to add the info to GW2 Wiki — hopefully people will read it and be warned.
Hello Sarah,
very sorry that I didn’t see your response earlier, eek!
There were several tickets as this happened repeatedly (again just last night), but I’ll give you the one this thread was about: #2445613
Happy holidays,
Ashantara
Have a pretty old 27" monitor and ReShade looks amazing with the right settings.
Here’s an album of Southsun and Orr
And one of my favorite screenshots I’ve taken
Wow! Can this be done with the 64-bit client of GW2 as well?
If so, PLEASE let me download your preset! <3
People actually want the prettier PvE version of the the skin, not this one. Oh well, typical Anet. So it’s save to delete this item, I guess, since it does not harbor any functionality whatsoever.
Yes, I am aware of this. Hence my confusion about this thing still being available in PvP (Wintersday Reward Track). One would think they would have changed it to either a skin or an item where you can apply stats.
You can’t double-click it to select stats, you can’t even equip it. All it is good for is the skin unlock.
Why??
Also, the Infused Ring I acquired via Ascended Shards of Glory can’t be attuned:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Un-Attuneable-Mist-Band-Infused/
I had to add this vital information to the Wiki entry as it had not been added at the point I purchased it…
It’s an outrage! I wasted Ascended Shards of Glory on that thing and am pretty miffed right now as Support told me to post here for the devs, for they don’t have information on if and when ascended gear purchased from the PvP League Vendor will ever be useable in the Mystic Forge.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
@devs: Please fix this ASAP! It’s ridiculous and ppl should be warned prior to wasting theis ascended shards of glory on these items! (I had to add the info the the GW2 Wiki entry as it wasn’t mentioned there, either.)
suppression of map chat is really stupid, it kills this community’s ability to talk openly and grow and play games in map chat…..and most importantly it just has no purpose……why do we have it when you can just BLOCK noisy people?
Because they have hundreds of accounts, and once your name was registered, they will keep whispering to you — so you want to spend 75% of your game time blocking gold sellers?
or hear me out here, or you can use them?
Ugh. Only if one doesn’t care about the looks of the equipment one uses.
Many of the Wintersday weapons skins look great, kudos to whoever designed them. The gift-wrapped weapons skins, however, look horrifying. As for the Frostforged weapons: those would have looked quite awesome had they not added those ugly green stones — also, all three, the green stone and the supposedly “iced” weapon parts as well as the gold-colored grips, look like cheap toy plastic (bad texture/color choices).
