No one else encountered this “bug”?
So I wasted 200 Ascended Shards of Glory on this thing, not knowing that it can’t be attuned??
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mist_Band_
Are you kidding me? I could have gotten Armor or Weapons instead. This is unacceptable!
Please Anet, make those actual skins that can be applied to ascended gear!
You farm PvP to get them, and then need to stick to the exotic skin (and need to farm for more if you want them for your other characters as well, which you then decide you don’t, because they are not of ascended quality and you happen to already have equipped all your chars with ascended water breathers).
There definitely needs to be done more for guilds, making them more relevant than just being means to socialize and farm the GH nodes each day. Seriously, there should be guild-based PvP and more.
In short: I agree with the OP, although I must say it is not true that nobody is helping you — you just need to find a good guild where helping is part of the social experience.
I am looking to come back and play. I am not quite sure i want to buy the expnsion yet. Is there a decent size community that plays in non heart of thorn areas?
Welcome back, Bark.
It is not just about the new maps, you know? With the expansion comes a ton of content that makes life in old Tyria better and more exciting as well. For instance, the gliding ability and the masteries. Also, many events connected to what lies beyond the old main campaign.
So, in any case, I do recommend getting HoT. You won’t regret it.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
I assume this is about the Winter Wonderland? Yes, just interact with the NPC repeatedly until you can enter.
P.S. What does “ju-full” and “ri-full” mean? <— not a native speaker, therefore confused
Christmas as we know it today is a commercial holiday and has nothing to do with the religious holiday anymore. Santa Claus is an invention by the Coca Cola company, only the name and very basic idea are based on St. Nikolaus (which we celebrate on the 6th of December here in Europe) — it’s all Americanized and has nothing to do with religion anymore, hence it’s universal; therefore asking for a Jewish symbol to be featured in the game would be like asking for a Christian cross symbol. (I like how GW is mostly pagan, and for your information, many traditions implemented into Christmas are of pagan origin — like the Christmas tree, for instance.)
Speaking of their form and looks: Why did the devs decide not to stick with this (pic #1), but instead with this (pic #2)?
The former (dolphin/wale-headed quaggans with sharp teeth and fish-like bodies) I loved, the latter (cutesy balloon-like quaggans) I truly despise.
Maybe it’s because humans have a drive to prefer small creatures with rounded features (babies) and this creeps into art (intentionally or unintentionally) when the artists want to make a creature more sympathetic to a large group.
Far example, the evolution of Mickey Mouse over the decades from sharp rodent features to rounded babyish features.
Terrible in the case of quaggans. I really loved them at the start, but the current version is quite disgusting, not cute. At least IMO.
I just watched this, and it made me laugh so hard but also lose what little respect I had left for the species (those baby voices they use for the quaggans are annoying as well and anything but “cute”):
It’s from the latest GW2 Guild Chat. I loved the part about the charr.
Summary: the current version of quaggans are a bad running gag in GW2.
Now the bug is – your allies/NPCs don’t fight at all. you have to take the boss fight by yourself
Yes, I noticed this a couple of weeks (maybe two months?) ago when I did the story mission with my Rev. Never had any trouble before, it was quite ridiculous.
Thank you very much.
Hello folks,
I just checked on Wiki, and since this event is not marked as “historical”, I was wondering whether something similar is being planned to return?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Queen's_Jubilee
The reason I am asking is because I still have 5 Queen’s Gauntlet Entrance Tickets in my storage and would like to destroy them if they are outdated relics that can never be used again.
Thanks in advance.
I have to agree with everything BrettM. wrote, especially about the Commander’s reactions on several occasions and the story NPCs’ behavior (Taimi’s in particular).
and holding a rational, complex conversation covering many issues while being jumped by 50 foes every 30 seconds is a little hard to pull off even among people that respect each other.
Well, the devs made it “possible” during Caithe’s explaining a very important thing to us: that she was under Mordremoth’s influence when she kidnapped the egg and went solo. It was quite a ridiculous moment to behold, with all the fighting going on during the dialogue. At least the devs seem to have learnt from that mistake and placed the dialogue with Braham in between the fight sequences.
I can’t begin to count the amount of times devs have explained how much effort it is each year because the system is constantly changing and all events and contents need to be changed along.
Sorry, I didn’t think of the skill changes etc. that might indeed affect festive events. My bad.
Is there a point to the disguise outside the story instance? I got another set just playing in the bitterfrost frontier. Wondering if I should use it for rp purposes, or if there is an actual use? I already know how to make the elixir. Does it at least make svanir friendly? Maybe going through the zone is easier that way to collect chests.
1. The disguise disappears once you leave the sector of the map where you need it.
2. Yes, there is a repeated purpose to the disguise: if you are doing the daily heart quests, you need to to enter the Western room in the Svanir section in order to talk to the quest NPC and reap your rewards.
Frankly, I would prefer they just make the LW S3 episode 4 sooner, over wasting time and resources on Wintersday.
Since it’s a repeated festivity, there are no time and resources being wasted here. All the activation of an event requires is to simply switch a few variables in the database from 0 to 1.
So here’s an idea for all those scrolls, passes and various items that allow us to teleport to certain places. The Tome of Teleportation would have a list in built, that you access by right clicking, with all the locations you can currently teleport to with in game items. When you gain a teleportation item (the royal pass for example) it unlocks within the Tome, allowing you to either keep the scroll or delete as you see fit. The Tome would also count as holding said items for areas like the Royal Terrace, which kick you out if you do not have the pass on you.
Love the idea! I, too, am getting worried about the increasing amount of teleportation items this game puts out there for people to purchase. A container for all of those (like an unlock item you describe) would be perfect!
Sooooo a codex is a list of mobs and lore?
I guess it’s ok. How is it better than using /wiki?
I think what they meant was an Index, not a Codex (@OP: two different things).
Having a fully-fletched tutorial/guide would be better than using Wiki for two reasons:
- Because you would be able to learn things on the run, and always the things you currently need at that point of the game or in that specific location.
- When you don’t know about a certain mechanic and no one mentions it to you, then you can’t look it up because you don’t know it exists.
Therefore i crafted a legendary to my best friend. Too bad i can’t stop him from leaving the game
1. He can return your gift to you, which you then can sell — no loss there for you.
2. The alternative to gifting ascended gear cannot be the crafting of legendaries. That’s insane regarding the time it takes.
Unlike Braham and Majory
Caithe is a perfectly fine character if your a Sylvari in fact as a Sylvari I find I’m way to hard on Caithe. She was their for our personal stories and the only personal story character people universally hate is Logan.
What are you saying, I love Logan! Why would anyone “hate” him??
Caithe is as human as everyone else. It wasn’t her fault that her mind got infiltrated by Modremoth, like happened with many Sylvari.
So coming tuesday we’ll get wintersday, but the big question on everyone’s minds: we didnt get halloween’16, so what are the odds we’ll get a wintersday’16.
Right now, hopes are low.
???
What do you mean by “We didn’t get Halloween ’16”? It just finished a month ago. Also, “coming Tuesday Wintersday will start” but “We won’t get Wintersday” is contradictory and makes no sense. So, what do you actually try to say?
- Kas will be back when the Commander is going to break the news of Jory’s whereabouts to her in the next episode.
- I love how Jory and Kas are together and hope that they will stay together and start acting more like a couple again.
- I love the idea of Canach and Anise getting together! (lol) That would be something to behold.
Canach is my current favorite — love his pragmatic thinking and his dry sense of sarcasm.
- Taimi needs to learn some modesty and respect.
- Rytlock needs to stop being grouchy all the time. It’s funny when it happens occasionally, but lately he has done nothing but whine and snap at others.
- I have a feeling that Rox is going to die, which will bring Braham back to being a teamworker.

Just playing Season 3 for the third time and can’t even begin to describe how annoying and childish I find Taimi’s newly acquired “self-confidence” that is filled with arrogance which always results in her giving the Commander funny per names (“Poo-bah” anyone?). I liked her better when she was younger.
I wish they were gone altogether! They are wasting a free slot in the BLC for me. At least you can sell them to the merchant and don’t have to use them (and waste Unbound Magic along with them).
Dear dev team,
I know you have a lot you are working on, but there is one thing I would like to address that has been bothering me for a long time:
Asura characters have quite a few downsides in terms of design. One being the infamous goiter on their neck when being in battle mode. But the thing that bothers me, personally, the most is your limited choice of sword skins — limited, because a portion of the skins’ tips tend to be underground due to character size.
Now, I was wondering if it was possible to simply change the position where the sword is attached to the character’s hip? For instance, my Zodiac Sword is hanging way too low and there is room enough to raise its fixation point several inches.
It’s really a shame, because — like I said — it truly limits the pool of skin choices for an Asuran character.
It’s all good, I just finished. Thank you!
Hello all,
I’ve got an urgent question: Is this guide still working? —> http://gw2crafts.net/scribe.html
Or have they changed the leveling system for crafting professions? (It’s been a while since I leveled all the other professions.)
Thanks in advance!
new to the game and i see like these heart signs, shield signs, and so forth can anyone tell me what these all are or link me to a site or guide that tells me these things. the game really doesn’t teach me anything around this.
Welcome to the Beginners’ Frustration Society. I was like that when I started out — the game is anything but self-explanatory, and if you are new to MMOs many things can be causing major headaches. It is too much information at once, too many different things you want to understand in order to get a grip on the game mechanics. Like the many currencies, the skill trees (or rather trait circles in the case of GW2), what to use to salvage which type of item, how the crafting system works, and so on.
If you need a tutorial on fundamental stuff, just whisper me in-game and we could meet on TS for a quick beginner’s tour. Since I am located in Europe, the weekend would probably be best suited for this due to the time zone difference.
P.S. I seriously consider writing a tutorial and putting it online. Or a YouTube video guide.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
This is a common sense question, my friend.
It isn’t, because ANet isn’t always consistent about their application of their own rules, let alone “common sense” logic. Plus, “common sense” turns out to be different for different people.
More importantly, while most transmutation mistakes are easily fixed, making a mistake with a legendary could be horribly costly.
Thus, it’s good sense (common or otherwise) to verify the mechanics first, especially since it’s really easy to do so.
Exactly! Couldn’t have said it better — thank you.
but like it or not there’s lesbian players in this game who appreciate such things. But the solution to that problem is to give us more straight and male/male relationships, not less lesbian maintext.
This. I can’t see anyone “hating” Marjory and Kasmeer simply for being lesbians. That would be rather childish and majorly homophobic, and I hope the GW community is more open-minded, progressive and mature than that. I think all types of romantic relationships should be equally welcome as long as they are well written.
What i think will happen.
Kasmeer will die, it will be Braham’s fault.
I hope not! I am sick and tired of writers always splitting up lesbian couples in hyper-dramatic ways in movies and on tv, in most cases by killing off one of them. I don’t need that kind of drama in GW2 as well. They already killed Faolin (who was a terribly selfish, evil character, so I didn’t mind — but Kas would be a different story).
If Braham caused Kasmeer’s death, we would have a boring, repetitive lesbian story arc here that was used so many times before. Good example: Willow and Tara on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. Willow (a witch, compareable to a Necromancer in GW) was so overwhelmed by pain, which soon transformed into a hunger for revenge, that she turned into an evil force of destruction. I could see that happen to Marjory, if Kasmeer got killed by Braham’s stupidity. She probably wouldn’t rest until she has avanged her love.
We will get the 2 dragons to fight, Lazarus will absorb the magic from the one that dies.
That I can see happen. He will then become the ultimate weapon to destroy the dragon’s counterpart.
The commander is not assertive – at any time. He sucks up to Braham and just takes the insults and disrespect that Braham delivers. One doesn’t need to scream to assert oneself. And the commander did not assert himself in the face of Braham’s disrespect. He was a doormat.
I agree. I was feeling let down by my character as well when he/she kept quiet in response to Braham’s insults. They could have set things straight right there and then, but no, they didn’t. This will only complicate things in the long run. I prefer people to be more straight forward in order to prevent future conflicts instead of being cowards who avoid dealing with a current conflict.

Uh, Fate’s Razor is roughly a synonym for Destiny’s Edge. So…
Indeed! Which makes Rytlock’s comment “I will never be a member of a guild called Fate’s Razor!” even funnier.
@subject: I don’t think that sword will have any relevance whatsoever. I believe it was merely mentioned to make the whole conversation amusing.

Hello folks,
I have a simple question to those who have experience with legendary gear: Can you transmute a legendary weapon without losing its ability to change stats?
Because that ability would be the only reason for me to get a legendary weapon — then I would transmute it into something pretty as all the legendary skins look truly awful (except for Howl, and Bolt maybe).
Thanks in advance.
Due to the fact it takes too much time and money for Arena net to design new armor sets for each piece and each race and since its much easier for them to design outfits and pop them out with ease, why not make Elite specialization outfit that you can purchase with unused hero points?
I have a feeling that the next big expansion will include new Elite Specilizations and that you will be happy to have saved your additional Hero Points once it’s being released.
Their attacks are slow and easily dodge-able.
This. I don’t understand what the OP’s problem is other than being too lazy to use the tools the game provides in order to adept to the current area they are traversing.
playing ranger in pve without build template is painful. up for visibility ;p
+1
Are there any gathering tools that have the fastest animations so I can be on my way quicker? cough Bitterfrost mobs cough…
The animation length is irrelevant when gathering/farming. The gathering time remains the same, regardless of how quick the animation ends. You just have to watch the gathering bar — as soon as it finishes, you can immediately move on to the next farming node, even if the animation hasn’t finished yet.
But the way the story is going NOW, that group of allies is splitting and getting weaker, and so is the Commander, whilst the foes we’re facing are getting stronger. The Pact is all but gone, so we don’t have an army anymore. Our companions are split around Tyria and torn between loyalties. I find it unlikely that a small group of Norn led by an emotional, revenge-driven and reckless Braham wielding an untested weapon could defeat a foe greater than Mordremoth, who laid waste to an entire army.
I think that Anet are setting up something pretty catastrophic here, and I don’t think it’s going to be quite as simple as “X person dies, Y gets sad about it, onto the next Dragon”, nor do I think Braham is going to be even close to successful. I actually think Braham is going to be one of the reasons we fail.
This. I believe Braham poses an enormous risk to the whole plan the Commander and Taimi are currently working on.
But you know what? You guys keep forgetting about Lazarus and the White Mantle. I believe that they will play a huge role in all of this and, in one way or another (be it as an ally or as foes), they will contribute to us successfully defeating Jormag and Primordus.
I am slightly worried we may not get to see much Northern areas, since i heard Jormag is quite close to Bitterfrost Frontier. (?)
Jormag won’t be the final boss to dispose of. I think Primordus will be.
I had hoped Jormag would’ve been far North so we could experience lots of new snowy maps, with each one getting increasingly colder and more mountainous. [thick blizzards etc]
I hate to break it to you, but your description matches Bitterfrost Frontier. I do hope, however, that there will be at least another Shiverpeaks map.
I think it would be a huge shame to not visit old GW1 locations and the Eye of the North itself at some point too.
Yes, would love to revisit the area around the Eye of the North! <3
Adrenergic is still an egg. the fang is still pristine. Lots of other minor details.
Adrenergic? What?? Do you mean Aurene?
Speaking of which, there are still plenty of NPCs talking about PS events and ls2 events as if they’re still (going to) happen
So if they changed it for everyone, how would people be able to follow the story when starting from the beginning? Your request would only make sense if there were different instances for each single step of the story — do you have any idea what a logistic problem that would cause and how much server space it would require?
I’ve never seen the issue happen anywhere except Bloodstone Fen, and I drop onto nodes and immediately start mining all the time, so I’m sure I would have noticed it elsewhere if it happened.
Yes, you are right. I wasn’t so sure, so I made it sound more general, but the truth is I haven’t noticed it elsewhere, either.
As for why it happens in Bloodstone Fen… probably something related to the air combat skills. The air combat skills are treated as a bundle by the game (the devs themselves confirmed that), which seems to cause some issues with animations. The game seems to have some delay in swapping animation sets from the bundle back to the normal animations.
It actually happens even mid-flight in Bloodstone Fen if you just stop and start gliding quickly. That also makes your character animations go all wonky for a few seconds, with your body going stiff and attack animations not working properly.
Ah, thanks for the explanation! I am so relieved that it’s not just me. I was scared I had run into a hardware issue with my computer. Phew!
And yes, noticed the other “symptom” you discribe here as well. Also, when I leave Reaper’s Shroud, or any other transformation for that matter, I see the old “form” floating for a second before it vanishes, while my character has already left it and is strolling a few paces away from it.
Yesterday i had a similar issue. After landing i tried to pick up some winterberrys but it didn’t work. All skills seemed to be also disabled. It fixed itself after opening and closing the glider again. I suspect that the glider didn’t close properly the first time and left me in a half flying state and therefor disable everything that is not allowed midair.
Huh, haven’t encountered that one yet. Interesting…

I don’t care enough to wiki either, so I don’t know why those weird-looking people are following me around, calling me boss, or flirting 24/7 in front of me calling each other doll or love. So there’s just no getting myself into this whole thing. I just tab out whenever some dialogue starts.
And the reason you play the story is…? Seems to me like a role-playing game, which are all story-rich, just isn’t your cup of tea.
@everyone else: Use the three sources provided to catch up on all events that led to Season 2. Those sources are: YouTube (whole Scarlet story covered), NPC at the beach on Lion’s Arch (recap on each story NPC’s background), GW2 Wiki (for details on the desctruction of Lion’s Arch, the shift in leadership etc.).
Hello fellow adventurers,
I just wanted to verify whether this is a common bug or just me:
When I start mining an ore node within 1-2 seconds after landing, the pickaxe animation doesn’t load for the next two seconds. Instead, my toon is bending over with their arms not moving — ony at the last strike (or when I wait a second or two before I start mining the ore) the animation displays correctly.
This is especially noticeable in Bloodstone Fen at the crater area where you do a lot of gliding and mining.
Anyone else running into this glitch?

Did you learn that from another post (here? reddit? elsewhere?) or from a support ticket?
Directly from support.
Quote: “The issue is already known, but there is no current estimate as to when the issue will be resolved. Just contact us if the issue occurs again, […]”
I’ve never read anything about account-bound items
Trust me, it is the case with all items that you can’t use twice, salvage or sell, proven by the fact that they correctly get replaced upon opening the first duplicate.
Just to let you guys know that the bug is known to the devs, but there is no estimated time on which it will be fixed.
I believe if they’re not going to let the user’s weapon do damage (even if it’s the slightest bit), they need a respawn for the grubs… Nothing more infuriating then running out of those kitten things with the abomination down to (around) 5%
I don’t understand the problem. You just need to stand in a group of grubs, wait for the Abomination to attack you on close range, then do damage to the grubs so they poison the Abomination. Takes three groups of gubs the most to finish off the Abomination.
Did it with my Ranger and my Revenant and was done in about a minute. You just have to do CC to the grubs, it really doesn’t take long.
What profession did you play when running into a problem with this?
Well, grief over a lost parent seems a good reason
Sure, because Eir and Braham were so close to begin with.
They had no connection and only just begun to know each other a little when he was already a grownup. So that didn’t convince me, sorry. To me, he is being rude for no reason other than being a thickheaded jerk, endangering the whole world with his mindless actions. Like a pouty child that didn’t get its lollipop. Or like Donald Trump.
Actually, people get angrier in just that situation, when they have had no contact with their parent early on and lose their parent before they can get to know them. Grieving people like to find something or someone to blame and, Mordremoth being dead, the Commander is a much more convenient target for Braham’s bad aim.
Of course there’s another explanation: dragons absorb some of the powers of their defeated “colleagues” and Mordy has some weapons that affected people’s perceptions. So maybe the Elders of Fire & Ice are trying to create a rift among the forces most likely to challenge them, by preying off Braham’s and Marjory’s grief.
That makes sense. Braham and Marjory have been acting somewhat out-of-character lately. And their choice of clothing also indicate “a darker side”. Maybe there is something brewing up…
Their cutesy form is basically an anthropomorphic manatee. Manatees seem to survive just fine on their own, when people aren’t murdering them with motor boats.
