I don’t see anything in the item text that suggests the elixir could be redundant. The elixir doesn’t have anything to do with the Kodan.

Oops, my bad — I obviously confused things here. (hangs head in shame)

Interesting. I didn’t find the achievements hard to get at all. The boss is easy to defeat. First, all you have to do is kite all the orange and red circles and lure him to the next mob of smaller creatures that need to get out of the way. You can do this alone, just make sure you are evading and have a speed boost (trait or equipped skill). If you are with a group, make sure everyone is luring the boss in the same direction, otherwise it will take forever.

Once the minions are all dead, simple attack him (or her? ) from behind or the flank to avoid getting frozen, and watch out for the arrow that indicates his charge attack.

To get him down in under five minutes, get a team of 3-5 players, they can even be random players you encounter on the map. Just ask in the map chat and you will find mates for this endevour in no time. He goes down fast.

Is this a new trend?

Well, grief over a lost parent seems a good reason

Sure, because Eir and Braham were so close to begin with.

They had no connection and only just begun to know each other a little when he was already a grownup. So that didn’t convince me, sorry. To me, he is being rude for no reason other than being a thickheaded jerk, endangering the whole world with his mindless actions. Like a pouty child that didn’t get its lollipop. Or like Donald Trump.

Anyone else not like quaggan?

in Living World

Posted by: Ashantara.8731

Ashantara.8731

I liked them in the main story campaign, an interesting new peaceful race that abhors anger and battles with it as a “dark” side, then being caught in the developments in the world and forced to take action, getting out of their shelter cocoons.

I then enjoyed how they were developed in HoT (you see a Quaggan leading a strike force during an event chain who has learnt to say “I” instead of “quaggan”).

However, Season 3 has reduced them to an annoyingly brainless “cutsie” race. Their comments make me want to bash my head against the wall and their balloon-like bodies make me want to grab a needle and make them pop. Quaggan very unhappy.

Maybe a stupid question, but does the enrichment give anything more than the visual aura and +15% karma? The text first made me think it gave a permanent Warmth effect (the one from the beacons, not the elixir one).

I was wondering the same thing. Does it make the Elixir redundant?

My Honest Feedback: GW2 could be epic

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ashantara.8731

tl;dr

Very “mature” contribution to the topic. Kids these days seem to have zero patience.

Anyway, back on track. I agree that the fact that roles have been completely abolished for GW2, then somewhat gradually re-introduced under a guise (for instance Elementalist healer), is posing a problem and much dismay.

The reason GW2 doesn’t have at least a loose role-structure is the reason why I quit soon after release (and many of my former GW1 buddies as well, who have not returned to date) and then didn’t touch the game for more than four years. I was still mentally stuck in the GW1 profession structure (with class combinations etc.) and therefore rejected GW2.

Now, obviously, after a long time, I made peace with the fact that there were no more specified profession roles and class combinations. I started enjoying the game for what it was. Then came HoT and with it the Druid and Raids, the latter with the need for a healer/support class. That’s when I was reminded of my initial criticism of the game. I didn’t (and still don’t) understand why ArenaNet paddled back, once realizing that healer support makes sense, and thus had to pervert other professions into healer roles instead of having a Monk class in the game to begin with. Monks can be damage dealers (smiter, anyone?) as well as healers, so there was no need to complete deny them their existance in GW2. I refuse to pervert my Ranger into a healer role, sorry.

GW1 was good for a reason, and that reason was having roles, regardless of how much better, diverse and more exciting GW2 is in its movement mechanics, content etc. So, bottom line: I agree with many on here that roles are needed to a certain extent, and the solution is not to force professions into roles they weren’t meant for.

P.S. Also, yes, PvE content for small groups in terms of dungeons is sorely being ignored (diminishing the rewards for them didn’t help either). And no, Fractals and Dungeons are not the same thing, for a variety of reasons — one being that Fractals require Agony Resistance which is hard to acquire for casual players (and once you have it you need to stick to that one character, which makes it a very boring experience in the long run), another being that Fractals are shorter and feel repetitive quickly. So, firing the Dungeon team was not a smart move, I would have loved to see new Dungeons pop up with new content instead of Raids.

Black Lion Chest duplicate bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Ashantara.8731

Ashantara.8731

Indeed, it is if the CS Team has indicated that only certain duplicates receive keys.

Like I (and Stitch) mentioned earlier, the first duplicate of the item did receive a replacement key immediately upon opening (only the second, the follow-up, didn’t), so that should prove that this item falls into the category of account-bound items that receive a replacement.

Ashantara.8731

I had this earlier today, with 3 instances of the item that teleports to the high-up area in the new map. The second item got replaced immediately, but the third didn’t.

Exactly!

For me, the first item involved was the Grasping Phantom Glider (for which I received a key from support when I reported it). The last item was, like in your case, the Bitterfrost Vantage Point (which so far they refuse to replace).

Edit: I just checked into my Support Account I found this reply:

Hey there ****,

When it comes to the Seasonal Black Lion chests, keys are not received for every duplicate in the chests. That rule only applies to wardrobe items, so if you had received a duplicate outfit you would get the keys, but things like the Bitterfrost Vantage point, mail carriers, etc. Don’t receive keys for duplicates. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know.

Black Lion Chest duplicate bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Ashantara.8731

Ashantara.8731

Upon opening BLCs, account-bound items’ dublicates (i.e., items that your account already received) are being replaced with a free key.

Well, that’s how it’s supposed to be. Unfortunately, lately I have repeatedly run into a bug where — if you open several chests at once (let’s say 25) — only the first duplicate gets replaced. If you get the item again during the same opening session, it won’t get replaced.

I contacted support, and the first time this happened they sent me a key to compensate the loss. However, this time they refuse (even though they could check my character’s inventory and verify my claim was correct).

Please fix this bug ASAP, in the meantime I won’t open any more chests nor buy any keys from the Store.

[Suggestion] Friends Categories

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ashantara.8731

Hello all,

I was just going through my friends list and realized that in some cases I couldn’t recall who that person was. I sometimes add players that I grouped with in PvP, but then I don’t see them online in a while and forget who they are.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to put people into (self-created or predefined) categories, so that you remember in which game mode you added them or who they are in general?

I mean, close friends (RL) you’d remember of course, also guildmates (as you can see them in the Guild panel), but in cases of random players you encountered or people who have been absent for a while it is really hard. Friends categories would make it a lot easier to organize your friends list (PvE, PvP, WvW etc.).

Just a thought.

This is simply the best! Great map: diverse, beautifully designed, well balanced, perfect layout, fun content, excellent items and farming options, no annoyances, great story-telling and atmosphere, nice new ideas (the Kodan torch and skills, for instance).

So, here’s a quick summary of what I don’t like about it (it’s a short list):

  • Braham’s new armor (can’t stand Marjory’s, either, btw)
  • Braham (whiney, confrontational, stupid)
  • Aurene miniature (too small in size, please fix, since it was costly to craft!)
  • dialogues (sound/speech) often overlap, so it can get quite chaotic (maybe bring back the cinematic full-screen dialogues?)

I’ve enjoyed the first two chapters of LS3, but this is startlingly poor design.

Have we been playing the same bundle? I hate the Ember Bay map (although it has nice content and some laughter). This map is so much better and more fun than Ember Bay or Bloodstone Fen.

Like so many LW episodes (the first) part of it is great, but the whole is disappointing.

I disagree. Season 2’s second half was so much better and more exciting than its boring first couple of missions. I, for once, think that this is the most exciting content so far. But I guess you can’t please everyone.

There are missions that don’t work solo with certain professions. That’s what guild mates are for (among other things).

As for the characters: I love Marjory and Kasmeer (separately and as a couple), they were introduced in Season 1 (like all the other characters).

Yes, the first half of Season 2 was lame, but the second half totally makes up for it! (Don’t want to use spoilers, so I’ll only say Durmond Priory and GW1 references en masse!)

I had to catch up on Season 1 as well, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube and entries on GW2 Wiki that help a lot in regard of the whole Scarlet Briar story arc. Go catch up on everything, I promise it will be worth your time.

Legendary Armor

I was total blown away by this and wanted to ask, what did everyone else think?

I think that, instead of having animated armor (which I am certain the younger players or anime lovers will die for), I would prefer it to have the ability to apply any skin we want to it (and change it at any time) without having to waste Transmutation Charges — because I don’t want the same armor look on each character and have no use for animated armor, either (I believe that the game already has enough gimmicks that make you look “cool” and “special”, like the Nightwing shoulder skin, for instance).

but the way this set just organically transforms, is a modern marvel to MMOs

Exactly. Ugh… this is Guild Wars, not the Marvel Universe.

Question about movement speed increasers

Ashantara.8731

Oops. I either must have forgotten about this during the pause I took or never noticed it before (which is rather unlikely, but then again I had only played a few months before pausing).

Okay, so it really depends on what options the profession provides. And nope, I wasn’t talking about open world PvE, I was talking about tightly packed spaces such as (using a current example here) the Mad King’s Labyrinth: it is impossible to rush through in order to get to your squad (you either have to fight your way through, wait until they come your direction and join, or use certain professions with abilities you mentioned).

Alright, thanks a lot.

Question about movement speed increasers

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Ashantara.8731

Ashantara.8731

Hello community,

I started playing GW2 actively last year, but had stopped playing for about six months and returned recently. I am now noticing something that I think is new (?):

Any skill or trait used that increases movement speed by 25% or 33% (with the exception of the Revenant’s “Impossible Odds” skill) stops working as soon as my characters become targetted and attacked by hostiles.

I have been keeping an eye on this for a couple of weeks, playing all nine professions, to see whether maybe it was the enemy using attacks that would slow me down, but no, any simple attack will cause my character to get slowed down to normal speed.

What is this? A bug? A feature? What’s the point then when, for instance, I can’t use my Necromancer’s warhorn skill to flee from danger or rush through mobs of enemies?

The dilemma with Maguuma Mastery Points

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashantara.8731

Ashantara.8731

Hello guys and gals,

Perhaps you can give me advice on this: I am currently working on getting the 12 Mastery Points to finish the last Itzel mastery tier. I have concluded all other masteries already, including the new ones for Season 3.

Now, I find it quite hard to gather the last two of the 12 required points and I have been thinking: would it be wiser to save those up for upcoming Season 3 masteries?

Because, frankly, you have to work extra hard for many of the Maguuma Mastery Points and the reward is not worth the time invested (like having to spent weeks for completing a single story chapters, a day for an event lane and so on). Even reaching Gold in the Adventures takes forever and I have given up on those after spending a whole day on them (I managed Gold only in four or five, the rest I achieved Silver). Not to mention the tedious Juming Puzzle on the Fire Isles etc. There really are more interesing (and rewarding) things to do in this game than farming said Mastery Points. (Yes, I already got all the easy ones like Strongboxes etc. and am going to get a couple more that are rather easy to achieve. I am currently Level 153.)

So, do you think they will add another Mastery track with each new S3 episode? Because if so, I will definitely save those points and not complete the Itzel mastery (as it’s not really worth it anyway).

[Feedback] The forced feeling Caithe-hate

in Living World

Posted by: Ashantara.8731

Ashantara.8731

I agree all around, either way.

I think more time should have been invested into Caithe explaining what happened to her during Mordremoth’s terror reign — it should have been deeply implemented into the storyline instead of a superficial “Oh, by the way, sorry! It was all Mordremoth screwing with my mind, making me believe that taking the egg was part of my Wyld Hunt. Are we good again?” And then the way the player character reacted, pretty much like, “Oh, okay then, you are forgiven, but I’ll keep teasing you about it!”

For real?

It was quite laughable how the NPC would try explaining herself while we were fighting White Mantle together — sure, I have time listening and sorting things out in the middle of a fight.

Come on. That was the worst conclusion you could come up with regarding this particular storyline.
