Keep in mind that the password you use to log into GW2 is now the same for GW1. Once you linked the accounts, they were synchronized to match, even if you used to have a different password for GW1.
When you receive the daily reward mail while on a demo char, you can’t pick up the reward. Which is fine.
However, when you log onto another char to pick it up, the mail is gone and so is your daily reward.
This needs to be fixed ASAP! Second time this has happened to me during demo weekends. <—replace with angry smiley

but I thought the same about Druid and now I’m thinking I’d hate to give it up (and no, I don’t run a support build, it’s mainly condi DPS).
Condi Ranger is more efficient in a vanilla build with viper’s equipment. Druid makes more sense in a berserker build, but I hate the fact that it’s still called “Druid” then when I do not associate DPS with the term at all.
I really want a decent elite spec that makes you proud to be a Ranger because it fits the profession naturally, not some strange elite specs that pervert the profession into something else.
Edit: That said, I’d rather play a sniper bow ranger, a dual-sword wielder like in D&D, an elite trapper, a sand nomad with special skills, or anything else that traditionally fits the ranger profession than something that I associate with the Norn, namely shape-shifting.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Then they need to add this to the traits’ descriptions.
P.S. What “totems”?? Do you mean the shades?
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
And here is another reason why Elite Specs are problematic:
I am just skilling a Necromancer, and there are so many trait lines from the core traits that make zero sense to be used with Scourge, because they apply boni to Shrouds. Unless you change them all to “Shroud and Shade”, they will become redundant for new builds.
Note: I am aware that there is a shroud skill, but it’s not working like the old shrouds, so traits that give a bonus to “Shroud Skill 1” or “4” or whatever won’t work, because your skill bar does not change into new shroud skills.
So, dear devs, what are you planning to do about it? I’m curious.
P.S. How about you change/adjust core trait lines depending on the elite spec that has been selected? That would be a nice solution and make builds more diverse and interesting.

Where can you test the new elite specs? I couldn’t select them in the PvP lobby…
Not in game yet but I think the notes said you need to select one of the demo spots and create a toon.
Oops, I missed that even the PvP demo required you to create demo chars, so I did not look for those demos slots. Ahem. Thanks.
Pleeeeeease… if nothing else, at least remove the awful dark orange lighting from the PoF character selection screen.
Where can you test the new elite specs? I couldn’t select them in the PvP lobby…
You seem to be ignoring people’s responses.
Since you described the issue as your computer downright shutting down (not restarting, no bluescreen), we told you that it is very likely a power issue. Yet you seem to haven’t done anything about it…
Have you tested whether your PSU is sufficient for your system? Have you considered getting a new PSU and see if that solves the problem?
Also, have you unparked your CPU cores, as suggested?
P.S. In addition: Check if there might be layers of dust clogging your PSU, your CPU fan, or covering other hardware components.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
Ok thanks for the reply, i mean clean from keyloggers ecc, for other stuff i changed passwords and installed an antivirus
You’re welcome, but you still did not post the support’s full response.
Well, no one here can help you with that, only support can. Have you asked having your request forwarded to a senior staff member? Also, you did not include the original response you received, and I can’t give you a proper answer when I don’t know what the issue is (there must be a reason why they won’t help you.)
P.S. By the way, formatting your HD and re-installing Windows doesn’t make your PC “safer”, or your account more secure, when it’s still not properly configured and secured and your browser settings and browsing habits not properly adjusted.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
If, at this point, someone truly expects additional, personalized story content of any type (in this case for your new elite spec), one has to ask this: “Where have you been this past year or two?”
Additional “story bits”? Pah, I’ll believe that when I see it! Which will most likely be never again.
Off to playing more personal story on my newer characters. Still the best plot mechanic thus far.
There are no new weapons being introduced in PoF. When you test an elite spec this weekend, naturally, you will be able to equip the respective weapon.
Tickets only get closed when there hasn’t been a response provided for a certain amount of time. Instead of opening new tickets, you should check the ticket’s status daily and write a response if you have not heard back from support within five days.
I am sure they will be able to help you if your account was hijacked. However, while you are waiting for a proper response, you should look into securing your system and browser better (as well as selecting a save e-mail address and a strong password, make sure you have no keylogger or other viruses and malware on your system, etc.). See what else you can do to prevent this from happening again. Because accounts don’t just “get stolen”, it’s usually the account owner’s negligence that leads to this.
That’s an issue with many legendaries. I don’t think ANet knows how to fix weapon draws in those situations, or they would have done it by now. The issue started sometime last year (around summer, I think) and hasn’t properly been fixed ever since.
False. Logan replaced Trahearne as Marshal. “You” never were the leader of the Pact, you are one of its Commanders.
Yes, I confused the terminology, my bad. I meant Marshal, a position we were offered first but declined. However, as Commander, the second in command, it was us who led the Pact throughout HoT, so we had been basically its last leader before Logan, no?

Wtb Rytlock face!!!
You can create that face, it’s already in the game, among the basic faces […]
Its close but not the same face.
I am pretty certain it is exactly the same face, you just need to adjust the colors properly.
I’ll create a Rytlock for you during the next demo weekend, then we’ll know for sure.
@ Cirian: Thank you so much for taking the time to write those two posts! You truly hit the nail on the head with everything you wrote.
I have only been criticizing (the same ascpects you do), but never took the time to work out solutions. I hope someone from ANet will read your posts and listen.
I used to just salvage on the spot and sell things to tp or put it in mats storage while running around. If I had a problem (ie sigils/runes that were worthless, then I’d see a vendor).
Ditto.
It was never really a problem since I’d immediately begin the process as soon as an event was over or immediately after I opened a chest. Carrying around salvaging kits got to be frustrating so I bought the silver-matic/copper-matic and then paid to have extra shared inventory slots so that all of my chars could use them immediately. I realize that’s not an option for everyone but I still think it’s way better than the options we’ve been given. Especially since the unidentified gear comes in 1 color and you have to “guess” whether or not you’re getting rare/exotic/precursor style loot or green/blue loot.
I am 100% with you here. I paid for the shared slots, got extra bag space too, and always salvage all blues and greens on the spot — so if this ID mechanic has been introduced to save inventory space, I really don’t need that “kind new feature” (being sarcastic here) as it would only drain even more of my money/gold.
future <> feature
Also, you did not make any point that hasn’t already been made in the other thread.
This has been brought up many times and they pretty much said they can’t. They need those lengthy dialogues and cutscenes to set up the mission.
It’s more or less serving the purpose of a curtain in a play, and its a biproduct of the game being an MMO that runs on servers insteads of an offline game. The last I heard there was no viable workaround or solution.
Of course there is: Give us back those sweet dialogue cutscenes from the original campaign! They can be skipped, no problem.
You don’t need a third party site for a DS timer. Just type “/wiki Dragon Stand” in chat and it will give you an official wiki page with a timer.
Still, when you are interested in events, there is no better source than GW2 Timer.
I did it very recently and it was no different than after they revamped it in the June 2015 update I mentioned.
So unless it was done in the 8/8 update, they’ve not updated it since June 2015. As far as anyone knows at least.
It must have been done recently, because — as I said — I had played it only a few weeks ago and it was still the same like before. Unless I wasn’t completely overtired yesterday, I can swear this was brand new — hence this thread.
This is why we need Dhuum to prevent reviving the dead.
LOL! I didn’t even notice this thread had been necro’d, but even if so, it’s a hot topic again with the upcoming expansion. So why not use an “old” thread rather than creating the millionth one on the same topic?
If there’s money in it it’s doable.
The time and resources it would take to make it possible for your character to change race is enormous. You have no idea how much code would have to be reworked and added to make this work. You would have to create a whole new backstory for the character in restrospect once you change the race, which would affect dozens of database tables.
The money they would earn from it could never make up for the cost of resources this would require.
P.S. I’d rather see those resources put into more personalized content, more “personal story” so to speak, than into this. Besides, creating a new character isn’t that difficult, plus the money they make out of sold character slots is worth more than they would make from your idea. Also, furtunately, achievements are account-bound too, so a new char won’t ruin your overall game progress, either.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
I have only seen this happen in Source Engine games, but apparently it can happen anywhere, depending on the hardware.
If you are using a laptop (and I believe you are), it might be too weak to handle alt-tabbing out and back into demanding 3D applications, hence the display errors. Try to avoid doing that. Also, are you running the game in fullscreen mode? I recommend you do that, and make sure GW2 is using the same screen refresh rate as your general system settings. If that doesn’t work, try windowed fullscreen instead.

“It’s not always hardware.”
Shutting down IS always hardware related. The rest of that paragraph doesn’t even make sense.
This is actually true. If it was a software issue (e.g., a driver conflict), you would get a BSoD, not a complete shutdown.
In most cases, this is caused by the PSU protecting your system from damage. You need to find the source. (Hmm, having a GW2 flashback: “You must… find… the source. The source of Orr.” )
Yeah I will make sure not to repeat this misstake ever again! :P
Good choice.
Your suggestions helped! I asked to speak to a superior and now it has been resolved.
I will love you long time. <3
Aww, hee hee. Welcome back to GW2!

Make sure your firewall doesn’t block the Gw.exe. In addition, you could add the application to your anti-virus’ list of exceptions for the behaviour shield and see if that helps.
Will try to download a program to check this and see if this is the case.
Use this tool for full system info, including temperatures: https://www.piriform.com/speccy
Does any other 3D application cause the same issue? What are your system specs?
Okay, thanks, guys. It is really weird I don’t remember the sawmill, since I have done map completion on several characters…
- ID kits should be available from basic merchants, not heart vendors.
- Unidentified gear needs to stack by (and display said) rarit. That way everyone can decide what to salvage and what to identify, provided that the main point of this new (old) mechanic is to save inventory space…
I think that would be the ideal solution for everyone, no?
I am currently playing through yet another run of a personal story (to date still my favorite content in GW2), and I am enjoying the dialogue cutscenes so much! Mostly for the fact that we see a variety of facial expressions that we are no longer getting to see in newer content.
Therefore, I suggest the missing facial expressions to be added as additional emotes:
- frown /frown
- raise eyebrows /skeptic
- smirk /smirk
- smile /smile
- look sad /sad
- look angry /angry
Pretty please?
P.S. Some might say, “But we already have emotes displaying these emotions!” Well, yes, but they do not include these specific expressions (also without gestures), so why not have them, too?
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
This is how we came up with the names for the specializations: Once the names were final in English, we put up a vote on our alpha forum and accepted suggestions. We checked if the finalists were already used in another context in the game and if they had a male and female version due to titles.
Awww, I missed that — what a shame! That would have been fun to participate in. Too late now. Maybe next expansion.
Yep, those were a lot of fun. In GW2, we have way too many reward systems in place already, with a variety of mechanics. So, as much fun as the old concept would be compared to the current mechanics, introducing this in addition to what we already have would be over the top.
P.S. IMO, they need to simplify, and most importantly, unify the basic reward systems all across Tyria (not talking about map currencies here but everything else).
Yes, it was done a while ago when they restored chapter 7 (greatest fear arc) after they messed that up in the… September 2014 update […]
No, no, no, I did this very missions just a month or two ago, and this was still the same old sleeping pill delivery of the lines instead of the great pep talk I just witnessed.
Yes, they redid it. For the most part, its better, he especially gives alot more credit to the player during the personal story than he did before.
I am not talking about the dialogue but the intonation/delivery.
I went through the entire season 3 to do some achievements and it was such a chore to actually stick with it. Please let us skip endless, monotonous npc dialogue. At one point I actually had time to go to the toilet and make a coffee and a sandwhich and two npc’s were STILL yaking!
Hah, the exact same thing here, just last weekend!
A skip option would really be a true QoL update.
I am just playing “A Light in the Darkness”, and Trahearne’s motivational speech to the troops (during the glimpse into the future) all of a sudden sounds, well, motivational, convincing and strong!
The last time I heard it, it sounded like he had taken some sleeping pills.
Have parts of his dialogue across the game been re-recorded? If so, finally and kudos!
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
For me, Season 3 was much, much better than Season Two.
I guess it’s all just a matter of taste.
Nope. You seem to be confusing plot and quality of writing (i.e., the way the plot is being presented). There is no “question of taste” when it comes to good writing and bad writing, only about the content of the writing (the plot).
to be fair monocle from the box unlocks all three armor levels making it a very good drop given TP has each one at ~100g iirc).
100g? Hah, I wish!
Just discovered this monstrocity. 100% certain it wasn’t there the last time I visited the area.
Any info on what/why/when?
So when are we ever going to get the longbow elite spec for Rangers? The greatsword elite for Guardians? Or the daggers elite spec for thieves? These are the weapons I want to use when I play these classes. They are WHY I play these classes, but now mandatory specs come out that…don’t make my Ranger any better with a bow or offer anything of value to that playstyle.
I believe Lukejoe has a valid point there.
You were right! I was sent a serial code after about an hour.
Glad to hear it.
The first time I ran into that error, I was panicking — but by the time I finished typing my support ticket, everything was fine, heh.
thanks for helping guys. I’m saving my hero points because i prefer the PoF elite spec rather than the HoT elite spec.
How can you “prefer it” when we couldn’t even test any of the new elite specs yet?
My question is what if I want to level a HoT elite spec, such as Chronomancer, but don’t wnat to play HoT zones? Can I just level it in PoF? I’m guessing yes, but would rather know than guess lol.
Yes, you can level it anywhere once you have unlocked it by buying the expansion.
(edited by Ashantara.8731)
No really.. I would love to see a class that uses music to kick ginormous kitten I am sure that a lot of other people would too!
If this became an elite spec for the third expansion, I would actually start playing my Mesmer more often.
Think about it, ya all made the Legendary Focus The Minstrel, that screams “We were planning to make a Bard (or bard like class) sometime in the future”
Nope, it screams, “We did an April Fools joke about the Minstrel becoming a profession in GW2, and then we introduced the Legendary as a funny reference to that.”
This trend towards a movement skill based game is what turns me off. Most of these skills(bouncing mushrooms, updrafts, mount skills, etc.) are necessary to reach platforms or vertical levels of maps. I don’t care for the Nintendo creep in the game.
In my opinion, the pinnacle of this game was during season 1 with the Marionette events and defend Lion’s Arch events………. This is the type of thing I am looking for from gw2.
+1
One can only hope for the game to recover from all this nonsense with the third expansion.
I “really want” legendary armor but I don’t raid, so by your suggestion A-net should add it to the gem store simply because I want it.
Logic?
Legendary armor you can work on (without spending a kittenload of money), Invisible Boots on the other hand are a random drop.
Wtb Rytlock face!!!
You can create that face, it’s already in the game, among the basic faces (if I remember correctly).
I think this thread is about “normal” looking faces (like the female ones), not monstrous ones like Rytlock’s.
