Hi RevivedPicard – After deleting the local.dat file I’d follow with the repair. Next, I’d recommend updating your graphics card drivers. They’re not old, but if anything this should at least improve your performance:

Hi Whisper – My concern here is that this could potentially be hardware based with numbers that low. I would recommend creating a support ticket so that we can better assist you with this issue one on one. The sticky below should provide more info on contacting support.

Hi Xailoh – I would check to make sure your video card drivers are up to date first and foremost. If you’re missing video card drivers the launcher will “behave” very much the same way. I’d also check to make sure you don’t have any security software interfering with the client as well.

Hey guys – I’m sure some of you have already heard through the ticketing system but just confirming that this is a known issue and is being actively investigated. At this time the only “workaround” would be to make purchases with a Windows machine if you have access to one (also includes running in Bootcamp). Additionally, you could also purchase Gem Cards from retailers such as Best Buy and Game Stop in the meantime.

I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you all but I appreciate your patience as we look into this issue.

Guys, please understand that in order to further investigate this issue we need information from our players in order to locate commonalities. Since players are updating several threads we need to make sure all are seeing our responses for these requests.

I am not blaming anyone’s ISP here. We’re actively looking into this issue at the moment. The more information that players are able to provide the better idea we will have in regards to the lag and disconnect issues being reported.

Hi Rathayibacter – The only fixes for this issue I’ve seen have been to either launch with the power cable unplugged (for laptop users) or deleting the GW2 folder which it looks like you’ve already been given the steps for. Hi Phoenix Rising – If you’ve already ruled out ports and firewall/security software to be the culprit, I would like you to stop any applications that may automatically startup in the background when you turn on your computer. When you remove these applications from these startup lists, you may want to note them down so you can manually re-add them in the future if you wish. Doing this will help us determine if another program is interfering with your ability to run Guild Wars 2.

Please perform the following:

1. On the Finder menu bar, click Go > Applications > System Preferences.
2. Under the System header open Accounts.
3. Choose your account on the left.
4. Click the Login Items button on the right.
5. Select any items in the list and click the minus button below the list one at a time.

Once these are removed please perform the following:

1. On the Finder menu bar, click Go > Computer.
2. Open your Hard Drive.
3. Open the System folder.
4. Open the Library folder.
5. Open the Startup Items folder.
6. Please remove any applications that are listed here.

Once these items are all removed from both locations please restart your computer and try the game again.

Hope this helps!

Hey glad to hear that worked! It’s possible you may have some ports blocked. Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound. If you are connecting to Guild Wars 2 while on a campus, military, or business network, please check with your network’s administrator to verify that these ports are fully opened and unrestricted. If you are on a home Local Area Network (LAN), you will want to make sure that your network’s hardware is properly configured.

Hi Komle – Has anything changed since you last played (moved to or are playing in a new location, new router, etc.)? Do you have any security software currently enabled? Additionally, have you tried the clientport 80 workaround? If you haven’t tried it before, here’s the steps to do so:

1. Locate the file “GW2.exe” and right-click it, selecting “Create Shortcut.”
2. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”
3. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”

4. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end.

Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”

5. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 4 again.

6. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.

Hi Lushly – I’d like you to first locate and delete your local.dat file which is located in your Documents > Guild Wars 2 folder. Once this is done, reboot your computer and launch Guild Wars 2 again. After seeing the 1 file remaining message, a secondary protocol should kick in to download the file from the backup system. This usually takes about 10 minutes.

If after 15 minutes or so this does not resolve the issue, I would like you to change the language for the launcher (top right corner) to French, English, or German to see if the download completes. Once the download completes, you should be able to change the launcher back to your original language and log in and play again.

Technically the CPU fails, though since the rest of the system looks okay, it may be possible for your friend to play depending on the in game settings he uses. Please keep in mind though that as Guild Wars 2 is a very CPU resource intensive game, having a processor that is borderline to below the minimum requirements may present some problems such as performance and crashing.

What I would do is install the client onto his laptop and log in with your account (making sure you don’t store the login info of course). If you can log in and play, then I’d say it’s probably safe to say your friend should be able to as well.

Next

Hi Faye – Currently, the Guild Wars 2 download application will resume file downloads. However, there seems to be a bit of confusion as to how it does that. When the download is stopped for any reason, you need to close and restart the launcher. When you do this, the application will scan the already downloaded files to make sure they are intact. Once the files are scanned, the download continues.
The confusion comes from how the “scan” appears in the launcher. When this process is taking place it will look like it is downloading the files again, complete with “download speeds.” However, if you notice the download speed, it should be much faster than your Internet connection. This is because the launcher isn’t actually downloading the files from the Internet but is instead, scanning the files inside the GW2.dat file. Once the scan completes, the download resumes and your actual bandwidth is used. Please note that in order for the launcher to begin the update where it left off, you must exit out of the launcher properly. If the launcher was closed due to a power outage or drop in internet service, it will not save the progress and will start again from the beginning.

Generally security software is the main culprit in this case. Aside from this, there are some other troubleshooting steps that have resolved these errors such as a DNS flush, Winsock reset, disabling proxies, running the client as Admin, etc.
