I’d love some incredibly difficult content made for 5-10 players. That’s my general idea of fun. On megaserver I’m regularly surrounded by zounds of players, anyway. And no, after 1,5 year of playing I’ve never participated in a guild mission. We tend to do all the available instances without stacking, skipping and any kind of exploits and have a decent amount of fun doing so.
Besides, if my small guild will be able to join some other, larger, in order to participate in this raid content, I’ll be glad. Otherwise, however, it’s just a waste of development resources as far as I am concerned.

if they do introduce raids, i hope that there would be some sort of scaling. not all of us have big enough guilds to field 40-man groups, regardless of guild size. maybe start from 10-man with increments of 2?
Exactly this. My guild has 5 people online at most and we’re happy with this state of affairs, so the whole raid content thing is something I won’t be able to even glance at unless it’ll scale back nicely and allow multiple guilds to participate in it at once.
If it’s gonna be a large-guild exclusive thing, then bugger it. Bugger it all to hell.
I’ve started a thread as an offshoot from this one:

It proposes turning badges (and maybe, in future, karma), into non-direct gains in forms of boosts and buffs. With the right pricing it might just work out, imo, returning some value to those currencies.
Well, I was not sure if those boosts should leave WvW, with the PvE content being so simplified and easy already, but this is just a rough concept, details to be perfected.
If it’d work out, karma could get the same treatment – as a currency for temporary buffs, not affecting the economy in any particularly noticeable way.
And I’m not in favour of buing/modifying items with these, the farm got out of hand a long time ago, some people have simply too much of this stuff to offer direct material gains for it.

Q: What makes you not a good player ?
A: to accuse other players to constantly spam #1 .. because we have autoattack .. so no need to spam that key.
Riight… You obviously haven’t been a part of megaserver-populated events. Targets die so fast you have to spam 1 to choose new ones. ;D
For as long as doing nothing and stopping people from completing content is more profitable than actually completing the said content, bugfixes are necessary.
Or Anet will finally set apart a team to fix all the screwed up fail timers.
I’m actually glad I’m working 13 hours a day now with almost no time to play, the game seems to be in a terryfingly badly conducted transitional period.
I love how you completely avoid answering posts presenting you with indisputable evidence that content has been removed, Vayne. Discussion with you is a one-of-the-kind experience, truly.
When people talked about temporary content, they were talking about content put in for a short time and removed. They weren’t talking about altered content that’s been sitting around for two years. What you’re doing is moving the bar. Including things in a category that isn’t what people were talking about all this time.
It’s disingenuous, and it means nothing.
It’s what most reasonable people would call a red herring.
Talking about problems with content being temporary and about other, permanent content, disappearing completely, does not fit into one discussion for you? Whoo-eee, you’re far out.

Yeah, the lake in Metrica is the most blatant example. It was removed in its entirety. All mobs, all events, the whole heart. It’s dead, Jim.
Vayne, large chunks of content from the hearts and early events have been removed and replaced with spamming F or just blown to hell altogether, right? So, seemingly permanent content has been deemed not as permanent as we thought it to be, yes? Mistakes have been made, yes?
Right, I’ve completely forgot. Personal story too!
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
There isn’t any more temporary content. The closest we’ve had since the end of the last living story is seasonable or recurring content, which isn’t temporary.
With the September patch, content that had been here from launch turned out to be more ‘temporary content’. As in, poof! Gone.
They’ve got new mousepads in their offices

Trash mobs are a lot larger group than champions, the imbalance here is too large to even discuss. Besides, not everyone’s in this game is a champ-hunting farmer. I like to solo an odd champ here and there or do a temple, but… I’d never join a regular farm. This change is just a kick in the balls for the only profession I’ve maxed twice, engi.

Not so, because the demand for silk will still be considerably higher than for leathers. A huge chunk of population would have to shift permanently to make it somewhat equal.
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
I mostly roam, avoiding zergs. Zergs are kitten. ;P
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
I dont quite get the rage against this feature. Im completely indifferent about it. What is so bad about it being prof-specific on lvl80 and how does that effect the economy of the game so badly?
Leather is almost worthless.
Silk is really pricey.
Light classes > medium classes
And to be precise, the best farming class now would be mesmer, to also have a chance for the best (GS) precursor material.
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
I was supposed to be barely noticeable… This is a massive shift towards leather on medium classes, unless RNG played a weird trick on you… In general, this is bad. Really bad.
The return rate for this is not particularly amazing now, is it… :P My uneducated guess is that the value of badges would rise a bit if such a sink was introduced, so your siege would sell for a bit more than now.
What would you say if the badges could be converted to temporary boosts, akin to the combat/armor boosters? Active in WvW only, quite pricey, giving slight but noticeable boosts.
Imo, if balanced right, it would clear the huge heaps accumulated by the EotM farms quite nicely and would open for Anet a window to introduce some other, interesting ways to spend those…
Go to another profession trainer, choose a new profession, delete tailoring when queried. Works if you have a full set of professions already.
Pavilion was not only a farming area. It also had some of the best solo content available on those round arenas over the zergzone…
I went to Wayfarer’s for dailies yesterday. How the heck do you feed the bears now?
You don’t. Just be glad you don’t dance for them.
what’s so wrong about figuring stuff out on your own.
That’s actually one of the most satisfying things one can do, games included. ;D
Well, not a single one wanted to tackle me when I was doing it. I did it all without dodging or even avoiding the holes.
With an MMO you’re still putting content into the game
Anet is taking a whole new approach with the last updates, removing content and checking how it works out.

Eh, I don’t like the EOTM karma farm, but it’s the lesser of the two evils. At least it keeps the karma farm out of WvW, and toxic champ trains away from new players.
Exactly.
TheRiver, I know her, and she actually considers some of them to be the best looking weapons in the game. And is hoping for more in this vein.
I like the fact that it sucks away some farmers from the PvE open world, makes the crowds a bit more bearable. Hope they won’t nerf it, causing all those train lovers to invade normal events again…
Yeah, that’s even worse than a normal tutorial, because it seems that the game is just supposed to be like that. Bland, boring and catering to the lowest common denominator.
They really could have extended the introductory event, adding some explanations there without utterly demolishing the awesome starting zones and the fluidity of leveling…
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
Simplifying content in the starting zones not only makes them boring and monotonous, but also ensures that many new players will have problems grasping such basic concepts as putting the stone on the pressure plate in the Catacombs Story when they reach lvl 30. ;D
Was I confused at some points? Of course! Did I die a lot? Hell I did! Did the hungry bunnies beat the crap out of me? You wouldn’t believe! And all of this felt great.
I really feel sorry for those bunnies. After the lobotomy they are a sad, lethargic bunch…
Still waiting for a hammer skin that actually looks like a war hammer. The Super Hammer Skin is the only closest thing outside of the other overly done huge hammers that are found in most mmorpgs.
The Kodan one is fine, not too huge and looks almost practical.
Over the top and, frankly speaking, a bit silly.
Regional event dailies are back?!
AWWWW YISSSS!
Just give people ability to turn hefty hunks of badges into slight combat boosts (on par with combat boosters) to keep them in their intended area. This way people will burn the surplus in no time.
In their current state events should not provide any particular boosts and rewards beyond what they give now… Because they’re shamefully easy even to solo and do not scale for the megaserver population at all. They’re all autowin, pretty much, with an odd exception here and there. They’ve become so boring and being there feels so pointless that many people avoid them just because of that.
Scaling first… Rewards rework later, imo. Loot and bonuses are not half as important as gameplay, I think.
Besides, proper scaling means a bit more creatures which are somewhat beefier, and drop more loot, anyway… Would be a nice change from being unable to tag a mob, because 3 mad zerkers rushed in first.

The problem is far beyond the content being not difficult enough. Just today some people admitted they’ve never even seen events like Frozen Maw or Fire Elemental failed. It’s quite impossible in today’s arrangement.
Yeah, but I don’t see that as a problem. Content shouldn’t have to fail. The challenge is in completing content as quickly and as efficiently as possible, not in just completing it at all. That isn’t to say that they can’t tweak content a bit, Fire Elemental in particular has terrible balance to the current zerg sizes, and is one of the few mobs that would actually benefit from having a massively higher HP bar at highest scaling, and probably have it get much more aggressive about laying fire fields and other attacks, I’m just saying, I don’t think the fact that it doesn’t fail is as big a problem as the fact that it tends to die within thirty seconds and with almost no risk.
About 10 seconds now, actually.
this thread suggests otherwise

The need for something like this shows how grotesque the open world has become…
For PvE gauge them by the whole full Arah p4, I say.
I really have no desire for more teamspeak-oriented bosses like TT or Teq… I’d just like the current ones to gain some heavy, really punishing anti-zerg AoE that would force the crowd to dodge a lot or die trying.
I’d also like the megaservers to be a bad dream, but that’s a completely different story.
More JPs, instanced boss content for 1-10 players, hidden beyond those JPs… That would be awesome, getting through a labirynth to challenge some beast with a few friends without any interruptions from a loot-hungry zerg.
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
Yup, yet another piece of fun and interesting content gone, prolly forever, because rule 1 for Anet is NEVER ADMIT SERIOUS MISTAKES. Some smaller kittenups sure, but not something serious.
A sad world where people are ordered to destroy other people’s work, huh? And the game in the process.
The aforementioned giant is defenseless against the zerg like almost all others, but is a huge dps sponge, an incredible time sink in comparison to the poor fire elemental, which dies in like 15 seconds tops.
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
Yup, the chats have gone downhill since people realized that they no longer are a part of any community and nobody will remember them among the megaserver crowd.
But then I hate megaservers in their every single aspect, so yeah. Not exactly an objective opinion.
7 characters of mine out of 9 are currently blocked out of the story because of this.
There’s no way I could consider dancing for cows and patting fire an improvement for bundles.
