I, and many others, don’t really want details. We just want a simple yes or no to one question:
Does this also affect level 80 characters?
That’s pretty much it.
Aye, ’tis our question.
William S. Burroughs
It’d be logical to make the effect strong at early levels and gradually lower it each level, to completely negate it at 80.
William S. Burroughs
I mean seriously. The one thing we would like to know. Please.
William S. Burroughs
Not to mention that if somebody wants to simply sell a precursor, some (GS) are worth a bit more than others (torch ;P).
William S. Burroughs
Timberline Falls are beautiful. Dry Top is amazing, but then I just love deserts. Frostgorge is as cold as it gets – ice deserts are cool too :P. Edge of the Mists is mystical.
Yeah, those.
William S. Burroughs
Sorry, misunderstood you there. A long day.
William S. Burroughs
That would be 1200 range aoe.
William S. Burroughs
Staff necromancer has no problems with tagging, mate. Worst case? Plague. ;D
William S. Burroughs
profession loot only for low lvl players , this system on endgame is really bad idea nobody cares about stuff people just salvage it .
Some throw it into teh Forge to get precursors, mind you.
William S. Burroughs
I’m quite worried. My lfg descriptions are usually something like ‘absolutely no meta’ ‘no zerkers preferred’ ‘no stacking and rushing’ and such. Seems like a perfect metasheep troll bait.
William S. Burroughs
Unfortunately, it turns out that changing the kick system to majority is not that easy from the coding perspective as it would seem. They simply do not know how to do it yet. :P
William S. Burroughs
A lot of characters, doing a lot of personal story?
William S. Burroughs
^ and it would fit nicely into the lfg tool, too.
William S. Burroughs
No further ideas beyond increasing votes to 3 and other stuff you mentioned, but I just wanted to approve this topic.
William S. Burroughs
As I mentioned in my thread on the topic, it would be great to have the number of needed kick votes increased to 3, to minimize griefing resulting from this change. Personally I always started my own dungeon parties to avoid kick-happy couples. Now there’s nothing to kep me safe. 2 votes have always been a bad idea, anyway. Not even a majority.
William S. Burroughs
Increasing the number of needed kick votes to 3 would be a prudent thing to do. To minimize damage.
William S. Burroughs
Right now people who want to take over often don’t know who started the instance and that’s the only thing stopping them. Obstacle removed.
William S. Burroughs
Let me get this straight. After the changes I can start a party, create a dungeon and still get kicked towards the end by some two random guys, who want to replace me with their chum?
I mean… What?
William S. Burroughs
Stuns are currently pretty much the only way the open world mobs can hurt you. Sometimes. Rarely. Not really.
William S. Burroughs
So what if there are 100 people playing all all want to play alone. Does Anet have to spawn 20 servers for them? Because spawning that many servers affects the speed/stability of the system for everyone.
Just 1 map for like 80 of them. That’s all we ask for. Moderately populated maps. Whatever is the limit now is certainly over the top and the game becomes rush hour Tokyo.
William S. Burroughs
This “move to a new map” option is the single thing I’ll NEVER, EVER USE. I dream of the less populated maps. It’s really not easy to wait long enough to get one.
William S. Burroughs
Just take a look at Gavbeorn’s defense/retake…
William S. Burroughs
Fire Elemental? 30 seconds. Taidha? Defenseless. Hundreds of usual, non-megaboss events? Pointless. :/
William S. Burroughs
Nothing about fixing scaling for events which have been turned into tag races…
William S. Burroughs
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
With the current loads of players during the events it absolutely makes no difference if 50 or 100 players are whacking a poor megaboss. Unless it’s Teq/Wurm, ofc, but then on megaservers those events are always being trolled in a million ways, unless someone manages to organize a guild raid.
William S. Burroughs
I see some devs are active on the forums lately, so it won’t hurt to hurl a question here…
Could you reveal if there’s any work underway to fix the event scaling for larger amounts of players? Since the introduction of the megaserver large amount of players is pretty much the only thing we get and the numbers/strength of mobs are universally lacking. Most events consist of racing to creatures, trying to tag them before they evaporate.
It’d be great to see some truly dangerous elites (no, not champions, it’d just lure in more farmers) and such thrown in when 20-30 maxed out, ascended-clad maniacs roam the event…

2)
I’m all for topics chosen by us. The game needs a serious event scaling rework due to the megaserver and ever-present crowds… And this is not something Anet would mention by themselves, as the megaserver is an indisputable success. ;P
William S. Burroughs
Yup, it was there just before the first invasion.
William S. Burroughs
Chameleon, but the soundtrack seems simply too short after a year of playing. There’s too much good music around to ignore it for those few hours a day. ;D

28297 random songs of random genres from my collection.

I love the fact I’m not being forced into a zerg all the time. Sometimes I even have to try. Fun stuff.
William S. Burroughs
Yes we are helping ourselves, but we are also helping the economy by lowering the price of t5 and t6 on the tp. Which is needed right now, big time, unless you like paying 60silver for powerful blood.
I call heavy bullkitten. If you introduced those mats into the market without getting gold for it, you would lower their prices. Farmers, however, hoard money, removing large chunks of it from the circulation.
You help only yourselves and make it exceptionally hard for the newest players to gather even moderate wealth without frantic farming. Essentially, you force everyone else to farm in order to keep competitive on the market. It’s Earth all over again.
William S. Burroughs
There is always a few people, including me, who try to finish the event against the exploiters. However, the upscaling makes it almost impossible in most situations… :/
William S. Burroughs
A quite fun, and during the first attempt even somewhat challenging fight. Rather repetitive, as I’d expect some more different phases towards the end, but still I had my fun and had the proper ‘final boss’ feeling.
William S. Burroughs
I do not care about their abuse, I just block them. However, it is almost impossible to finish the event right now. The zerg upscales it to the point that even 10 people actively trying to kill the mobs are unable to capture the circle in time. In its current megablober state the event is broken. Something has to be fixed, the victory conditions, the rewards, the punishment for failure, anything. And it is true for several other events throughout the world (Pig Iron Quarry, anyone? At least there I can win it solo anytime, so it’s not that bad).
William S. Burroughs
In order to prevent cheesing the mechanics of the game and deliberately failing the event, against the common sense and the story. The living event system was supposed to reward players for winning, right? The other solution is prevent the events from restarting for an hour or so in case of failure. Maybe then the train will actually try to play the game for a while.
William S. Burroughs
If an MMO’s mechanics are able to comfortably accomodate dozens of players in one event, it’s fine. But if a zerg removes any need for tactics and and thinking, replacing it with mashing autoattack, then the MMO should stick to the mix of moderately large groups and instances.
William S. Burroughs
Still better to voice an opinion. The LS1 was terrible mostly because of zergs. Megaserver makes zergs even worse, so this is a no-go. There won’t be that much difference between patch day and later, because the system will still compress people into a huge, chaotic blob. A large part of the game looks like this right now…
William S. Burroughs
I said it before and I’ll say it now, as a former functional game tester. 2 weeks is time for a SINGLE test cycle. Proper testing consists of several of these. In some projects even 10 or more.
William S. Burroughs
Every time someone suggests RAISING the map caps, I shudder. If this game had collision system, it’d be hard to travel now.

DeathMetal, to put in simpler terms what Ashen said.
Megaserver fills each map up to its brink.
All events are crowded.
They scale badly, therefore all of them become pointless ‘press1s’ and races for loot.
Totally Megaserver’s fault, because beforehand most events were enjoyable, playable and filled with just right amounts of people (which, in case of most events in this game, is one to four).
I really tend to spend a lot of my time in other games now and I’ve stopped pumping this one with obscene amounts of money, just because of the fact that megaserver turned 90% of the world into a friggin’ picnic where precious few things can actually hurt you.
This game has been built around groups of 5. Simple as that.

And karkas are not shell creatures at all. These things happen. :P
William S. Burroughs
You mean you want to completely remove server identity from WvWvW, too?
William S. Burroughs
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
Afaik, the dungeon team has been disbanded and we can’t really expect anything in this area. Which is one of the precious few places to escape from the megaserver zergs…
William S. Burroughs
No signs that it’s happening now. After several months of dealing with wrecked events.
William S. Burroughs
I’ve got this feeling the scaling rework just won’t happen. The Cursed Shore will remain the kittened loot train forever. Yes, I’m bitter.
William S. Burroughs
Dude, we already gave up on the idea of removing the megacrapper, so you may take a break from defending it. I just want them to fix scaling. Do you argue against that? That countless events became simply pointless? That they rushed the implementation without preparing the world for it? That the fact that they refuse to comment on this failure and possible fixes is even more frustrating than trying to do Gavbeorn’s Landing events?
William S. Burroughs
Yeah. It is. I consider ‘having to try and use your brain’ fun.
William S. Burroughs
DeathMetal, please, enlighten me: how is doing events in which there are 2-3 trash mobs for each 10 players out of the whole zerg of 100 fun? There is no proper scaling for this megaserver system!
William S. Burroughs
