William S. Burroughs
Fix to the overpopulation of the megaserver. Breathing space.
William S. Burroughs
I have no problems using esc to do it… What I’d love to see is removing the shift paste-in permabind, it is my dedicated dodge key… I die a lot due to this fact.
William S. Burroughs
China is getting smooth release, while we’re dealing with issues and problems. Sighs…
None of which are game-breaking and thus ArenaNet is rightly focusing on something that might very well decide the future of the company.
The sudden zerging of badly scaling events is not gamebreaking? It breaks a whole lot of events, dude.
William S. Burroughs
Megaserver has destroyed any enjoyment I had for running world bosses.
So very much this. Even the pre-events for them (Ulgoth) turned to a dumb rat race to tag a mob before it dies. Most of the time champions don’t even drop boxes, maybe for zerkers they do.
William S. Burroughs
I am fully aware that people enjoy games that demand pushing a single button to make numbers grow. These are abundant on the Web. I also consider it an imminent downfall of this game, at least for a large chunk of its playerbase.
William S. Burroughs
The map capacities are much too high for the current game content. Simple as that.
William S. Burroughs
= bane of communities as such, mate. We are doomed to be lonely in a faceless, farming, autoattacking crowd now. (half of the time a pink crowd, because their models can’t load quick enough)

I just visited Taidha Covington. She dies before the timer gets to 7:30 when she is supposed to teleport. Pathetic. And then she gets looped in her death because of the sheer amount of dps still hitting her. Scaling, plz.
William S. Burroughs
For those calling for a merge instead of MegaServers that would not solve the problem. It would also not be future proofing PvE.
Mergers + fixing the unpopular zones and making them more attractive would.
William S. Burroughs
The way they have phrased it means “it works great, but we are trying to make it even better”.
Kind of sounds like a threat, doesn’kitten (<— does it not)
William S. Burroughs
Would be enough to make them salvage into upgrades only, right?
William S. Burroughs
They are not trying to aim for a 100% full map. They are trying to aim for a comfortable level.
Not the best aim I’ve seen, then. Cursed Shore is rather unplayable on its soft cap.
William S. Burroughs
The server calculates this damage in a crazy way that takes way more computing power than it should. Hence the limits which make conditions useless, even more so in the megaservered, overcrowded, dumbed down gw.
William S. Burroughs
Whenever the crowd makes it impossible to use coherent tactics due to chaos, we may call it a zerg. WvW clashes are mostly series of lags, skill delays and random outcomes.
William S. Burroughs
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple_armor somewhat similar, but not exactly
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Human_male_heavy_armor there ya go
William S. Burroughs
“As a structure, the MMO has lost the ability to make the player feel like a hero. Everybody around you is doing the same thing you are doing. The boss you just killed respawns ten minutes later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
Hm, everyone doing the same thing… check. Bosses that spawn or go away on a schedule regardless of player or NPC action… check. So much for a living world.
R.I.P. Guild Wars 2 Manifesto.
I sure feel like a hero when I somehow manage to tag the poor creature before 6 (or a hundred) other loot hungry scavengers tear it apart.
William S. Burroughs
And the next, people are complaining that they see more players.
More players would not be a problem. Hundreds of players is. The events and spawns are simply not prepared for these zergs and have become a race between players to even touch a critter. Have you even seen the Harathi Ulgoth event chain? It’s a farce. Used to be fun, now it’s really hard to tag 5 centaurs out of a group of 10, they melt so fast.
The Risen in the Orr would sometimes attack in groups of 6 and sometimes were even able to down a low hp player. Now? Fat chance. They’d have to run in groups of 20 or so. With a vet on the top.
And there is absolutely no place to be alone anymore. And sometimes even the most zerg-addicted players need to take a breather, I imagine.
William S. Burroughs
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
Eh, my proposition thread has been mercilessly cut down
William S. Burroughs
I never res downed players anymore. I enjoy them dying, as I imagine the crowd getting a bit smaller… Of course they just respawn on the wp, but one can dream.
William S. Burroughs
…is nuclear weapons. Seriously, that’s the only way a poor Risen stands a chance against 5 players racing to tag it and get its loot. Maybe some nice, precise railguns would do the trick, if the whole zerg stands in a line…
Of course, they might also lower the maximum map populations by a half or so, but then they would ruin the tequatl/wurm events, right?
So maybe just remove the megaserver, merge the smaller servers, fix the underpopulated zones and leave everybody happy? Mad, but just could work.
William S. Burroughs
Removal of megaservers and simple server mergers instead. Later on making the empty zones worth playing instead of cramming hundreds of people together.
William S. Burroughs
What can be said? This cesspool is ‘working as intended’. Everything is supposed to be overcrowded and as difficult as your average bowel movement.
William S. Burroughs
the old ones will most probably always have a decent population.
Without tweaks in the current system they will always have an overpopulation, actually. These ‘uberoverflows’ will not allow for any breathing space, no matter the number of zones. For as long as there will be enough players to entirely fill a single zone, they will get crammed into it.
William S. Burroughs
Cakesphere: someone in marketing/finances/business development had an idea. That’s how most kittenups are born.
William S. Burroughs
Fondest memories… Once it used to be an awesome mmo with a balance of population that allowed for solo roaming and zerging alike. Good times.
William S. Burroughs
I fail to see how this is a bad thing
There is a difference between ‘populated’ and ‘Tokyo overcrowded’, you know. Anet does not, apparently.
William S. Burroughs
Once again, the map loads HAVE TO BE LOWERED. The Cursed Shore has become a real hell now, most often you won’t even get to your Risen before it’s dead. The best game I knew turned into an unplayable nightmare.
William S. Burroughs
Managed to spend whole 5 minutes on Cursed before just exiting the game. Breathing space, they said. Comfortable map loads, they said.
William S. Burroughs
Every poor zombie on the Cursed Shore has a three people line to it. Just peachy.
William S. Burroughs
If you’ve ever tried soloing (or heck, 5-manning) the Karka queen, you’ll know it takes quite the effort.
Most temples (big events in their own way) can be completed with fewer than 5 players.
Scale wise, the Karka Queen needs a bigger Zerg to take it on. Just, not all things scale properly from 1 player to 150 players. If you want to respect it as hard, just try soloing it.
There’s no way to solo it now, mind you. ;>
William S. Burroughs
I’ve been wondering if that is a direct reaction to this thread or others like it. Unless the first few days were just a totally random coincidence, it appears Anet made a hasty change to the daily rotation and made semi-permanent the ones that are almost impossible to play and not get. The only reason I can think of for that is as a temporary fix until they add more variety and start the rotations again.
I was originally very opposed to such an amount of dailies, but seeing the trend in the mix now, I can say that it feels really natural now – just play and most likely you’ll be at 4/5 or 5/5 before you even check the list. Heck, even Daily Feast now is a realistic 5 foods.
For once – thanks for the change! I never thought of dailies as a “challenge” but a “chore” instead, so having them naturally achieved now is a big plus for me and not “dumbing down” at all because IMO they should’ve been like this from the start.
But what if there were 4-5 more that were a ‘chore’ to do (I’d call them fun things to seek out and do, but I digress) like we had before?
You’d get your 5 done just by doing whatever else you do, and you can ignore the 4-5 more that are a ‘chore’.
Those of us who enjoy seeking out and doing the ones that are a ‘chore’ can.
Win/win?
How does having more impact you in that scenario?
Especially considering the fact that they are capped now.
William S. Burroughs
You have to try really hard to avoid doing leveler, recycler, killer and daily events just by playing however you want (except RP, I guess ;P) and it seems we’re getting them almost every day now. That’s what I’m calling ‘dumbing down’.
William S. Burroughs
Rose, the whole open world has become a joke due to ever-present megaserver crowds, so the dungeons are the last refuge for people who seek some kind of actual challenge in this game. Limiting us to 2 or 3 dungeons + fractals does not make us overly enthusiastic, as you can imagine.
William S. Burroughs
How far does the nerf reach? Up until TA or so? Looks like 2 people can faceroll Kholer now.
William S. Burroughs
This game is getting dumbed down, step by step. Do they really consider Chinese to be that daft?
William S. Burroughs
Recycler as a permanent daily? Why? It’s the one as brainless as daily killer.
William S. Burroughs
thats bs when did u ever fight the fire ele with less than a crowded room of ppl
what server r u from kaeineng? lol
Piken Square. I freelance work at home and can play at night. Soloed it each other night or so.
Mogrey: we have our small, cozy ~10ppl guild that pretty much exists since beta… So nah, won’t happen. Besides, atm larger guilds are also kittened by those megaserver changes, no way for them to play in one map.
William S. Burroughs
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
Monsters should hit weaker and more often, that’s one simple and useful adjustment. You won’t be able to dodge it all – tough/vit/healing suddenly become needed in the team.
William S. Burroughs
The solution is right there in the OP. Make karma/badge stuff salvage only into its upgrades. ’Tis not rocket science. :P
William S. Burroughs
Plus, if I dodge in the middle, the rune does not trigger at all. I replaced a whole set of perplexity with this, I hope it’ll get fixed.
William S. Burroughs
Instead of triggering, as in the description, when the elite is used, the krait rune applies conditions when the Dagger Storm ends, making it much weaker then one could suspect. It’s not intended, I suppose?
William S. Burroughs
Karka is not among these events.
William S. Burroughs
oh lord here we go. Now they’ll be asking for everything in the open world to be just like Wurm and Teq and if Anet listens to the niche they’ll lose more people. I heard that they made things too hard last night you guys need to make up your minds or be quiet about it altogether and just enjoy the game as it is because most of us are tired of the flipflopping on the subject.
I agree with Indigosundown about the rewards however, they are nowhere to be found still.
Just so you know I never attend teq and wurm, these are also pointless zergfests. I’d like proper scaling. ANY kind of difficulty instead of one minute of spamming 1. Is it really too much to ask for a game you actually have to play?
William S. Burroughs
(edited by Asmodeus.5782)
Karka Queen just melted in a minute or so. Nobody even cared about throwing eggs. Double u tee f, mate? What is the all the loot for, having a minute at 18:00?
William S. Burroughs
The game is better than it was, not worse. Yes there are downsides, but these downsides are largely overcrowded.
Fixed that for ya.
William S. Burroughs
No more money from me, ever. And it was quite an amount each month, I assure you. Screw them and their money-grabbing mega-shenanigans.
William S. Burroughs
I didn’t care about the flamekissed armor at all and this update destroyed the game for me.
William S. Burroughs
Umm.. you all realize that the Megaservers are currently only effecting the PvP Lobby, right?
No. Check your facts.
William S. Burroughs
I have been doing map completion in Fields of Ruin. Noone from Tarrnished Coast (as I am). I get criticised by 3 people and told “TC is that way ->” when I simply mention the fact that as a human, I feel awkward killing humans (separatists) to aid the charr.
At this stage, I am wishing there was a game out there that interests me more than GW2.
Have you tried Space Station 13? An awesome thing for any rpgamer
