The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.

? December 3, 2012 – 2 listed changes to wvw. 18 cumulative changes to wvw.
World vs. World
• Invisible & invulnerable players can no longer contest capture points in WvW. WvW capture points now follow the same rules as PvP capture points.
• All players will now correctly receive WvW bonuses. Players who transfer worlds will still be locked out of bonuses for the current and subsequent match.

? December 14, 2012 – 3 listed changes to wvw. 21 cumulative changes to wvw.

World Versus World
• When a team owns few or no defensive structures for a set period of time, a breakout event will now trigger at the portal.
• Repairable walls and gates have been updated to rebuild at 10% health instead of rebuilding immediately.
• Characters that disconnect during combat grant rewards to their opponent, and suffer penalties as though they have been killed.

NEW FEATURES AND CONTENT
Daily/Monthly Achievements
Rewards
A new currency has been added: the laurel. Players earn one laurel for completion of the daily achievement category and ten laurels for completion of the monthly achievement category. This new currency can be spent at laurel vendors in all of the major cities to obtain over 90 items, including:

• WvW blueprints
World vs. World
• Character load times in WvW have been improved through the use of preloaded placeholder models.
• WvW & PvE: Our culling system has been updated to use affinity culling, which favors allowing players to see important enemies regardless of the local player population density.
• Golem in a Box has been updated to have a 20-second recharge and has been disabled in WvW.
World vs. World
• Siege is no longer usable while inside a WvW jumping puzzle.
• Multiple areas have had their terrain adjusted to prevent players from bypassing gates and walls to get into objectives.
• Superior siege will now be saved properly when maps restart.
• In WvW, different types of loot chests will replace the bag drop depending on loot rarity. Players should now see bags for loot that is lower than uncommon rarity and chests for loot that is uncommon rarity or higher.
February 21, 2013 – 0 listed changes to wvw. 29 cumulative changes to wvw.

• Fixed safety areas that extended too far, which could result in some players keeping their no siege/determined buff.

• Fixed a bug on all Hills Keeps that could cause guards to spawn on the wrong team.
• Fixed an issue that allowed NPCs with Righteous Indignation to still take condition damage.
• Removed the ability to use many karma related items in WvW.

TL;DR

I have made note of a “staggering” listed 210 cumulative changes made to wvw, since its official release on 8.28.12. i have not decided whether or not i will make comparative lists of changes to spvp (more likely) and pve (extremely unlikely). as we all know, and as i witnessed as i ran through the archive of patch notes, the pve content notes are vast and endless, and that will be depressing as i witness my love for wvw/rvr begging on the streets of war-torn LA, for even meager scraps.


As we all know, Guild Wars 2 was released on 8.28.12. With the initial release, we were offered 3 modes of gameplay: PvE, sPvP, and WvW. The following will be a list of comprehensive WvW specific changes made to date, since the initial release of Guild Wars 2. I will go through the official listed patch notes on the official forums https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates (not the wiki) and use the search function CTRL+F to find key words hopefully highlighting the WvW or World versus World content heading sections. The key words or phrases I will be searching are “WvW/wvw”, “world” and “versus”.

The first game update patch was released on 8 September 2012. There were 0 listed updates for wvw.

9 September 12 – 0 updates listed to wvw.
? 14 September 2012 – 6 listed changes for wvw. 6 cumulative changes to wvw.

World-versus-World
• Score interval increased from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.
• Stonemist Castle points reduced to 35 points from 50.
• Bonus thresholds reduced by half to prepare for one-week matches.
• Castle lord, bodyguards, and capture point for Stonemist Castle moved to the first floor.
• “Harpy Feathers” consumable effect disabled.
• Bridges fixed to make passable for NPCs.
? 17 September 2012 – 2 listed changes for wvw. 8 cumulative changes to wvw.

World-versus-World
• Retaliation: This boon no longer reflects damage received from siege weapons.
• The Experimental Rifle is no longer usable in World-versus-World.

• Updated the Red Portal Keep in the Eternal Battlegrounds to ensure the “no siege” debuff encompasses the entire start point.
• Fixed a bug with Keep Lords in World versus World where they could become immune to damage.

• The northernmost keep in all homelands has had its collision adjusted on the inner western gate.

• Fixed WvW Orb of Power duplication on player disconnect.

That’s not it. It’s the nature of software and game engineering that there will be bugs. They do their best to find them and fix them before release, but maybe certain bugs just become apparent when much, much more people are attempting it.

Anyway, if you want a product that’s totally bug free, then you’re going to have to wait longer than 2 weeks for a release.

Thats why most games prior to gw2 have public test servers so that people who are willing to test for free do QA it for the devs so the devs can focus on other things!

At work so ill have to watch this later, but as a warrior being fed up with all th OP warrior posts, i have taken up the challenege of killing warriors and theives with my ranger. So far i am having great success using a celestial hybrid s/d +a/a build in wvw. the initial test run which incidentally i did not have any runes on at all, i destroyed 3 different warirors 1gs/a/sh, 1 gs/ham, and 1 s/s s/wh. Once i finish off my gear ill be posting a video and build here just to show how not op wars are and just how killable we are by anyone with a brain and especially how killable we are by rangers “the worst class in the game”. I mean, if I am able to kill other wars with a ranger, then what is everyone elses’ problem? It looks more like a L2Play issue.

New theory: What we saw ...

I had a theory couple of days ago:
In Guild Wars 1 we could see a strange inscryption carved in the Bloodstones located in the Maguuma Jungle and Abaddon’s Mouth It was also present on the Bloodstone Caves’ door and it looked like this: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/3/3e/Bloodstone_Inscription.png

I decided to simplify it a bit and overlay on the GW1/GW2 map to match the known locations of the Bloodstones.

Every now and then i enter a path sellers lfg and say they should be ashamed of themselves. Then exit the group.

Every time i see a staff ele i force myself not to vote kick it from a dungeon, instead i grind my teeth and watch it how he/she spams fireballs with no attument switch ever and then die max range from all of us. Then i don’t res him/her the whole run because f you start using dodge and stop checking your facebook.

I do the same from above when a necro is in a group. Or a ranger. Because max range-spamming 1 rocks.

I change my armor’s apperance way to often. Sometimes weekly.

After i flushed 200gold in mystic forge and only got a few pearl exotics i quit playing for 2 months.

I like like world completion it relaxes me.

I strongly resent people who ping precursor drops on world boss event. I’m jelous besause in 2 years of playing the most expensive item that dropped to me is a hammer worth 20 gold.

I like running fractals even tho i know i’m going to get a uninfused ring on lvl 50.

Once i vote kicked afk-er on the phone after being afk for 10 min because i wanted to finish asuran fractal because Mentalist was on in 30 min on tv and i wanted to watch it.

This post is filled with so much fail.

Paragraph 1: Ever actually enter the path to see if the person completed every boss, aka legit solo’d the path? Because when I sell Arah, I complete the path. When I check other parties, I’d say 75% are legit sellers

Paragraph 2: Staff ele camping fire is actually the highest personal DPS build in the game. Usually you bring it when you have a second ele in the group (the other will run scepter for might stacking) or if the ele wants a relaxed playstyle build.

Paragraph 3: Well, I can’t disagree with you here. Though you should actually check to see if the ranger is running Sword/Warhorn or /axe and using frost spirit and spotter, because that’s actually a good build.

And the rest is just things you enjoy doing, minus the mystic forge (your RNG isn’t that bad) and the fractal kicking (patience please.)

I enjoy seeing/reading when people do not understand the purpose to threads and that sarcasm and satire are lost on them completely.

A new warrior elite idea

So let me get this straight.. It’s an elite that that only works when your foe is at 15% health and if you down them then it has a shorter cd and reduces their downstate hp? I can do this just fine with intelligence sigil and doom sigil poison reduces their revive amount. No offense but this is useless and to be honest the elite has to be on par or better than the current signet of salt. The banner at least brings it’s own feature by reviving people. Oh and the fact that is clearly is a pvp only elite. Elites need to be possibly useful anywhere.

having half hp when downed is huge at high level pvp. i guess you wouldn’t know until you get there

Just checked the leaderboard on tpvp and solo q spvp: didnt see you in the top 100…200…300…400…or top 500… what is this high lvl pvp you play that we sir are apparently not aware of? Please let us know so that we may “get there” and get on your lvl. LoL.

WvW Pain Train Sniper

Just wanted to throw this build out there for anyone that cares. I was just farting around with a making Star Wars “Storm Trooper” when I put this build together. It is a sustainable Front line build that can withstand being in the front line hammer train, pick off annoying back liners, snipe commanders, snipe low health enemies and has proven successful many times in 1v1 today. The build revolves around the idea of how thieves build tanky but maintain high dmg with the 100% Crit dmg from stealth. Warrior uses the 100% Crit Chance for burst skills. So I just put together a build with mostly power and added in ferocity as much as felt was necessary. Add in the bloodlust stacks and guard stacks and you a tanky build with very high burst potential.

Of course there are an endless variations of this build to either further max out dps or further increase condition cleansing but this is the general idea. Running in WvW, I can Killshot people for 8k-15.6k yet I maintain large amounts of defense and CC. The build is of course highly vulnerable to certain types of enemies but it is still tons of fun to play!

Just wanted to be a Storm Trooper for a day!

Unless they fixed the 100% crit chance on the one trait, the last time i tested it, it did not work. You should be using intelligence sigils. Only 1 source of vulnerability thru rifle 4. Too much toughness. You should be keeping your distance and or being in the middle of your zerg so you should not really worry about toughness or vitality. also air or fire sigil for the crits with intelligence will be more dps.

while healing sig is standard. If you are maximizing your killshots you may want to be using healing surge and sig of fury.

Currently a few friends and i have been playing 65003 rifle/gs with might on gs maximizing our dmg and the vulnerability on our targets.

i mainly play warrior but ive been reading war is op and theif is op and so i had been theorycrafting the last few days to create a wvw roaming and hopefully warrior and theif killing build. So far i have had more success than anticipated.

Now this will make my ginsu ranger even more kitten.

Last night i gave my ranger build a test run celestial 04460 s/d and gs with survival utilities. Destroyed 3 wars in 1v1. realized that i had not out on any runes in my new armor set lol the put on traveler runes and went to dueling in the OS, destroyed another war. Lost to three different wars. Beat a burst guardian. Lost to a condi theif. And for my final fight was 15+min fight with a nomad troll thief in the end i lost as we both scrambled for the last hit on one another at less than 5% hp each! Im still not comfortable with the pet and wish i didnt have to be forced to have one like gw1, but what can ya do eh?

In truth, the six humans gods as we know them could have all come from very different places, races, and planes, and in effect have been the earliest known example of an adventuring party. We can’t know the specifics because they either aren’t comprehensible to humans, or humans have been made to believe that they are not. We don’t know what they look like, or if they even have corporeal appearances as all renderings of them are of humanized aspects and interpretations.

1st point. Dhuum is very much still a god. Unlike the father of Balthazar and Menzies who is presumed to have been killed by Balthazar. Balthazar ended the existence of the previous god, therefore that god no longer exists and is therefore no longer a god. Grenth did not kill Dhuum. He only overthrew Dhuum and imprisoned Dhuum within the Underworld. That is like saying my $1.00 bill is no longer a $1.00 bill because i have placed it inside of my wallet. its still a $1.00 as it exists inside or outside of a wallet.

2nd point. Avatars of the gods were made present as of nightfall in gw1. Avatars are defined as “incarnate in human form”. Wether or not the humans percieve them that way or if that is how the gods chose to represent themselves to humans does not matter. The representation in human form (i choose to think the latter) shows us what they look like.

Are Warriors the benchmark profession?

Given that warrior have all around good stats (high armor, high vitality, good damage, mobility, cc , healing etc), other classes would either need the same stat distribution or be better in one region and worse in another. Since this is currently not the case, it would probably be better to see a totally medium profession as the benchmark (engi, ranger) and balance around them.

Of course that also means that warriors are too strong and need to lose 1-2 of their advantages (like most if not all mobility skills or ~50% of their dmg).

Warrior has already recieced 25-33% dmg reduction since release. And you want to further that even more? LoL.

IIRC, warrior was the first class designed (not released for public viewing via skill trailer prior to game release). So it makes sense that it has every working detail precisely fleshed out to perfection.

The problem was that NCsoft, like other big mmo backing corporations, always push the release of games before they are actually finished and ready. So that limits the amount of time for the other classses had for the same level of development as the warrior. That is why you nevet saw warrior balancing changes for the first 6 months of the game.

2 years later, the other classes are still playing catch up in terms of balancing and bringing them in line with warriors.

The focus of cdi and proffession balance needs to be on bringing the other classes in line with the warrior. Not in destroying the warrior class.

DoTE, to me, is not reliable. I prefer to know that i am almost constantly doing 10% more damage. You have no way of knowing wether or not an enemy will run boons or how many he or she will have/maintain if they run less than 2, you are not doing optimum damage. If they do run more than 2 boons, the factor for your damage is now dependant on how well and if they maintain said boons. AA providing the aditional 10% power over further increases your damage.

Right now there are a lot of boon maintaining classes in spvp and also in wvw. So you could assume that either a) everyone will run at least 2+boons or that b) no one will or will not maintain them. (Which is a silly notion).

This is just the way i view it, Im not saying i’m 100% right and to take my or anyones word as fact.

This being said, I agree with killahmayne.9518. but again these are just the reasons i choose to run Armored attack over DoTE.

It would also be beneficial to us to know what the purpose of your build is spvp/wvw or pve? My question is why would you not use both? But you have not provided us with a build or function so we cannot give you the best answer for your build. Just answers.

You should test it in spvp. I havent tested sigil of leeching but If the life stealing effect mechanic functions like sigil of blood, then it might only trigger the effect (it will trigger the cooldown but you will not steal life) if you do not have 100% hp.

I main as a warrior. I havent played my necro for a long time (since my old guild used to run 5mms in tpvp lol). I have decided to play the necro for our wvw team. My friend has been theory crafting our necro to be a power based boon stripper.

I would like some input from you guys who main necros to develop or point me in the right direction for this build.

So far i have been directed to 4/4/0/0/6. Rampage armor? And d/w & a/f.

Its unfortunate. I am a hardcore gw fan and anet fan. I have been waiting for gw2 since it was announced in 2006. I had been playing gw1 since beta until the release of gw2. Prior to that i had played other games but the most noteworthy being DAoC with its revolutionary RvR system. When i found out gw2 would be doing something similar i had high hopes that my love of rvr would be satiated. For a time it was.

I had promised myself that GW 2 would probably be the last mmo i invest in because i believed in Anet as a company from how they handled things with gw1. Best devs and immediate fixes/balances/patches (excluding the shadowform debacle).

Now i find myself wondering when another true DAoC RvR stlye game will come along. /wishes for camelot unchained.

Any WvW Rifle build?

Last night on NA wvw reset. A friend and i played two rifle wars. It took about 6-7 ppl + respawns to take us down. Its very challenging to keep people away from you and to kite away as it is very anti-warrior mentality. But repeatedly kill shotting people and lining them up so it hits multiple people for ^10k+ dmg with piercing shot is hilarious. A time before four of us ran just rifles and in 6v10 wiped the group of 10 3-4 times with respawns close to the bridges in the south parts of the BLs.

OP should look into the theory of hybrid. Every class has hybrid builds. Every class has burst builds and every class has sustain builds. That is fact and cannot be refuted.

How well the build functions is subject to operator error. IE. – The player.

how about we don’t give it cripple, but reduce the recharge timer from 20 seconds to 10 seconds?

so it would be 8 seconds with trait.

a 300 range knockback kick every 8 seconds.

id go for it. been trying to ween myself off endure pain. if it was an 8 seconds knockback, id def use it.

cripple seems illogical, unless you change it to “sweep the leg!” and cobra kai ppl all over the place.

Is it possible you shot those skills into a reflecting area like feedback or on to a blocking or invulnerable enemy?
I know if ive fired those shots onto a blocking or invulnerable enemy it will just remove the projectile and start the cool down as the skills did successfully fire just not land.

thats what i thought at first too, but they have no mitigating factors sometimes when it happens.

some of the time, it will land directly on the player, because the player moves into the exact spot of the shot and i notice sometime when that happens, it bugs out and does the same thing.

Ive been having some issues with comb shot and arcing arrow lately. They will fire and animate but then nothing will happen on screen or chat logs and they will begin cooldowns.

I couldn’t agree with this more. The UI is a total mess, works fine for some people but not others, works fine in some resolutions but not others, and trying to make it useable has been a impossible.

Using 1920×1200, I had to switch to windowed mode because one of the “features” of windows 7 crashes any game I try to play in true full screen. When switching from full screen to windowed the UI went from working fine to giveing me ridiculous restrictions on the width of the chat bar and minimap rendering them a massive pain to use with about 3 inches of empty screen between the minimap and the skill bar and 1 1/2 inches between my chat bar and the skill bar with a standard monitor size ( I dread what would happen if I tried to play it on my 55’ screen tv, which I resently started doing). When I change the UI size to large or larger, large gets me what I want except for moving the chat bar above the skill bar, albeit the correct side of the screen and correct size, and the only options are there or at the top of the screen which I don’t care for. All of those problems go away if I use true full screen instead of windowed full screen but then I have to deal with frequent crashes (although it is the most stable game I’ve played in true full screen).

The major point is this, why in the world are we not able to move and resize things as we see fit? It makes absolutely no sense to force a static setup with minor options. The simple truth is that the UI is not optimized for every resolution size and then there are the problems you will run into when people start hooking their pc’s and laptops up to their tv’s, the size of which will make text unreadable among other problems without some manual tweaking.

Again, the lack of true customization is nonsensical and counter intuitive.

This is very well put. Also warbannering this thread again. We still need to be able to move the ui around on our screens. Again, no custom ui loading! Just moving around and resizing and hiding or transparency the current windows we have now!

Stacking Legendary Aura GONE

Bolt doesn’t work, Eternity does. Too bad as Bolt was the best stacking in the game. I also agree that you should not have made WatchKnight for that, there is a better option.

Also I have been told that only you see the stacking, and no one else does (they see the normal aura), so you might not even be sucking fps form anyone. Harmless fun.

They will see it if you stack in there presence. But if they are out of the field of view they should not see it.

I have 1600 and was thinking of getting the infinite watchnight tonic also.

Does it or does it not still work?
