If it’s not worth the cost of doing it separately, is it also worth the cost of annoying a map full of people and getting your guild a bad name as people start learning about who is locking them out after the fire ele is done?

Those people who get locked out after the fire ele, because they arrived after or didn’t see your announcement are going to hear, “Oh, [guild tag] did it before the fire ele for themselves. They refused to wait and they locked us all out. KITTEN YOU [guild tag]!” All those people will be bad mouthing your guild. If angry enough about it, when they see your guild tag other places, they are going to comment on it, pointing your guild out in map chat as trolls and griefers. If they see your recruitment messages in map chat, they are going to tell everyone how your guild is the troll guild or the griefing guild. Is people giving your guild a name as trolls and griefers really worth the SO champ bag?

Since they are unlikely to put them in as new weapons, it would be nice if they would make the skins available as staff skins. Some of the underwater weapons have very nice skins and would make excellent staffs.

I remember near launch when they were 15 silver each. Ahhhhh the good old days for us sellers. Then the crash down to 1 silver plus, so that I stopped selling and started hoarding. Imo, supply was too high before. It was way above demand.

Undercuting Guide

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

There might be several reasons for a large cut besides not getting it. Possibly the person wants to sell it fast and get their gold because they need the gold now for another project but doesn’t want to take the bigger hit of selling to a buy order. They might think a price is too high because of a price spike and that listing at the higher price won’t sell but be repeatedly undercut so they list at a price closer to the average for that time. Or possibly they have listed before at a higher price, were undercut repeatedly so that it didn’t sell and relisted at a large cut just to sell it because they got tired of waiting.

There have been a couple of times when I’ve had an item that listed high, was undercut repeatedly till it was low, pulled it after a month and undercut the current price by a largish margin just to sell the item.

Asura: Yeah I know. you guys are full of them.
Sylvari: Oh, yes. What’s it like to be a golem? Does it dream? Does it have a family?
Asura: That was the last straw, you know. After that question about turtles in the desert you asked it about its mother.
Sylvari: So?
Asura: It doesn’t have a mother. It’s a golem. you crossed its circuits. I don’t know how you did it, but you weirded out MY golem.
Sylvari: So, you are the mother? Or the father?
Asura: What? Well, I… I guess I .. Oh no. you’re not getting in my head. You just stand there and help me monitor the gate.

I kinda of agree. I spent 66 gold to trade for gems & get BL keys so i could fetch me 2 tickets & grab me a skin worth 90 gold at the Market. I got zip out of all my chest. So basically no tickets, no skin & out of 66 gold with lots of junk. kinda sad. :/

Good good, help push that gold to gem ratio down, haha.

Actually by buying gems with gold he raised the rate, not push it down.

…that makes zero sense at all. Why would the rate rise when gold is leaving the game?

There is a gold sink but most of the gold is being transferred from a player who bought gems with real money and who sold the gems to another player for that players gold (It’s an indirect sale, both the gems and gold go into a pool and are pulled from that pool by sellers and buyers. The computer calculates a rate according to how many gems and gold are in the pool and sets the prices). So the bulk of it is a transfer from one player to another.

Because the player buying gems is getting the gems from a limited pool, that means the gems in the pool become more scarce and the price for them goes up.

Frankly I think the OP doesnt give a kitten either way about anyone else on the map. So this thread was basically trollbait from the start. I mean, is it really that much of an issue to take 30-60 seconds AFTER FE to do steam ogre? I mean, even after FE’s events start, you still have 15 minutes until the next world boss.

Second, if the OP supposedly has enough people to establish a “fresh” Metrica map, why not go do that for the temples you’re supposedly “rushing” to? If it’s that much of a rush, why in god’s name are you not going to the PREVIOUS fire elemental spawn, and then doing ogre afterwards?

^
Apparently OP and his guild are doing this to save time getting to the next event, but the Guild Wars 2 events don’t have split second timing. The temples he says are next take a long time to start up and finish. The SO takes about one minute, it melts so fast with the zerg dpsing it down. Is the OP really claiming that that amount of time is going to mess up their schedule so bad that it’s worth ticking off a whole map full of people?

Truthfully if it had been me thinking of this idea, the first time I encountered such vehement opposition would have made me rethink it. Whether those other people are right or wrong, it’s hard to believe that my guilds wishes are more important than theirs, for such a flimsy reason. If it made them that unhappy for such a small gain to me and mine, to me it’s not worth it.

Well . . . this went in a direction that wasn’t cool.

What do you mean, exactly? It seems to me that the way Gwynefyrdd was set up to be obtained violates a cardinal principle; if it’s not fun, it shouldn’t be in the game. I don’t think the people who are wearing out their mice and index fingers and spending thousands of gold to try to get this mini are really having any fun. It does seem like a validation of the old dictum that, at times like these, the only winning move is not to play.

That was a response to a post that was deleted by a moderator.

Remember the Queensdale champ train? Gone. The event chain tied to the Living Story in Frostgorge that people were arguing about? Altered.

If OP wants to do this, it’s up to him however if there are enough reports and enough controversy, if other guilds or people start doing this too and also cause controversy then you may expect ANet to step in and take your toys away.

Armour skins: the time has come!

I prefer the gem store armor to mix and match to make a finished look.

I prefer the outfits to throw on whenever I want to look completely different yet not have to spend transmutation charges switching to a look then switching back.

What some people don’t seem to realize is, each has it’s own place, it’s own niche. As long as it costs to change then a way to change your look for free, even though its set pieces, has a spot in the wardrobe.

Transmutation charges may be easy to come by, but I only have about 30 something and I don’t get them often enough to accommodate how often I wish to look different. Outfits fulfill this wish.

A lot of people don’t like change. The “proper” way to do it is to open it after the fire ele. Whether it makes sense or not to object to opening it before the fire ele, it’s tradition (so to speak) for that event to be done after. Anytime someone does something not “in order” is going to provoke some people and I don’t see this changing.

So, your choices are to continue to open before and continue to have angry responses or to open after and have not have angry responses.

What are the people angry about? It would help us to understand the problem if we knew their objections.

I’m guessing that they are angry because they arrived on the map after the Ogre was killed and are expecting the Ogre to be available to be killed and it isn’t.

That’s possibly it. There is a 20 minute period after the event in which it can’t be done. Anyone who shows up after the fire ele and someone has a key, can’t do it then.

I know fairly recently I did the fire ele, someone had a key and we couldn’t do it. No one was happy about that.

I doubt it’s the ‘bug’ or a glitch you guys are mentioning. In LA they would walk and line up from the little cave at the end of the “queue”. They also started circling the Mystic Forge. In Divinity’s Reach one was placed in the middle of a circle.
If someone would be using the bug we would’ve seen him place the golemns, but they just appeared or WALKED in from behind the scenes. Also i doubt its possible to place the golemns that specifically if you are just spamming a skill
I think this is most likely a fellow player messing with us. ^^

If you would read the posts more carefully, it’s already been said (a few times) that it is a player or players doing this by using a glitch/bug with the toy golem summon. The golem is placed in a set location based on your character’s location, so it’s easy to place them in specific places.

I did read the previous posts, what I am trying to say is that: There was no sign of the player placing them, so it can’t be someone spamming the skill. I saw how they appeared on multiple occasions.
I think it is more likely that someone is just using the template/3D Model of these golemns and placing them via a program or something of the sort.

Not even this post?

Apparently there is a trick to making them persist and follow like a mini. They don’t despawn even if the summoner logs out. I met a fellow in DR who said so, anyway, and he had summoned a conga line of them, but he would not divulge the trick due to the lack of despawn. For that I salute him, and I hope he reports it as a bug.

Or this one?

But then you’d have players complaining that they have too many scraps as they’ve bought all the skins they want and now have a stack of tickets and scraps.

lmao so your saying start a new char to farm keys ???If you don’t think the risk is worth the cost or the reward, then don’t buy keys. Wait for keys to drop for you or key farm.

you are joking right ? this game isnt about farming , you cant farm it and as people have stated its not about the loot its about playing the game as you try and farm they nerf it give you grays so tell me hows that farming working out for ya ?

Key farming is guaranteed. It is based on creating a new character and getting it to the point where you get a guaranteed key as a reward (dont remember which step in PS it is, sorry).

farming in this game isnt gona work the loot is minimal at best and as devs have already stated this is only about the game play if you want loot a pre or even keys , your wrong nothing is guaranteed, and from story you get a few farming in this game its not what the game is any longer about the loot is junk people leave because the only game out there with no loot is gw2

so let me get this straight the only way you can ever farm keys is to make a new char ? rofl

So far I’ve gotten

Tempest sword,
Tempest scepter
Tempest dagger
2 Crimson lion greatswords (one to sale)
Chiroptophobia
2 mordrem staffs (one to sale)
Mordrem warhorn
Ley line staff
Phoenix hammer
Phoenix dagger

And 3.7 tickets remaining

Then of course, several hair and total makeover kits, minis, about 200 boosters, a fair number of the revive orbs, bank/merchant/trading post accesses, dyes, minipets, gem store backpieces, black lion kits (13 on an alt at the moment) and other stuff.

Yes, it’s definitely farming.

you fail to mention you have gotten all that when farming was still allowed or did you miss that part out ? white knights assemble !!!

rofl im out this is too funny

What? Just because I disagree with you about the key farms not being worthless, that makes me a white knight?

I bought the 2 Crimson greatswords just last week and I got the 3 Mordrem skins the set before that. I’m still key farming and getting drops. It’s not a fast progress, but if steadily kept up the rewards stack up.

@Ashen: I won’t and don’t decide for her. But I will be expected to play with her and lvl a new char as she hasn’t got one, so I will experience this NPE non-sense too. And if I don’t play, she probably won’t either as I’m the one trying to get her to play a PC game with me as opposed to watching series.

It’s not awful. I’ve leveled 4 chars to level 20 on an alt account. Of course I know how to get around some things, like how to go to PvP to unlock weapon switch early, but I’m not seeing all the things that’s upsetting so many others. Or else I see them but it’s not something that bothers me. I did have to backtrack to get skill points that showed up after i had already gone past them. But new chars level pretty fast and the hinderances don’t last long.

If you aren’t negative about the way it is different, it’s quite possible your wife won’t even notice or it might not bother her if she does.

I used to love that game. But now when I try to play it, the combat just feels so blah. You just stand there using your skills while your monk keeps you alive and your heroes stand there and use their skills. Edge over one inch and you break your skill animation. Going anywhere is a matter of going down lanes with towering unclimbable hills on both sides. Trying to jump over a tiny curb in a city is impossible. The maps feel dead. It’s like the Halloween minipet, Gwynefyrdd. The drop rate is 1:200,000. However there was one guy who posted that he opened up 1 million trick or treat bags before he got the mini. There were other people who also opened up large numbers without getting it and people who opened a few and got it. Calculating an average smooths outs such fluctuations around the mean. It doesn’t tell you what your actual results will be.

It’s one thing to do the math to see the odds. It’s another to expect that when the number of tries reaches the average number, then you will get it. There is the +/- consideration. Within the group of people trying, how many (in your case) don’t get it after 1000 tries or 2000 tries. You made a basic mistake in thinking that just because you calculated an average, that that average had anything to do with you.

You’re wrong. Again, it’s technically possible to never get a pre from the mystic forge, but highly unlikely after 1100 attempts.
My beef is: Why me? Why is my account condemned?

One guy who forged 53 precursors calculated that the drop rate using rares is 0.1% or about one every 1000 tries on average. http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1efwu1/just_some_more_mystic_forge_and_precursor/ If true then that means that 50% of people trying are not going to get a precursor by the 1000th try, but will take longer. on launch but keys and chests were extremely common drops in the world. In one sitting i’d usually get one or the other or both.

They only became rare when they added things like, the hair contracts backpack items, and skin tickets. Before nothing really could be sold besides armor dye so the chests were common to obtain and easy to get keys.

I don’t like how it is now, they made them harder because of the rare valuable items but didn’t adjust the other contents to not be meaningless dribble items.

Keys have never been a common drop. In all my hours playing and I’ve played a lot more than most, I’ve seen about 4 key drops from day 1.

^

I’ve played a lot of hours too and I could probably count the number of keys dropped on the fingers of one hand. The last one I got was months ago, probably 6 to 8 months. I think I average maybe 2 a year, at a generous estimate.

I key farm, and that’s the only way I could feel that the contents are worth it. If I were to spend real money and get what I usually get from a chest it would be infuriating. With a key farm, I can afford to shrug off a bad chest or a series of them. I was playing the game anyway so it doesn’t matter to me if I wasted my time doing that.

That said, over the last 2 plus years that I’ve key farmed, I’ve gotten a number of tickets and some very nice skins for my char’s weapons that I probably wouldn’t have had if I had to buy them from the trading post.

For me, at least one new character slot is absolutely necessary. If I don’t have one I might have to murder a poor innocent level 20 mule who just had her first birthday. She’s just a baby ANet. Please don’t make me do bad things to her. She has many years of muledome before her.

Gwynefyrdd, the Halloween miniature

I’m happy to post what I know, but some is reiteration:

  • A dev checked the drop rate and the item did drop and continues to drop at the anticipated rate. Actually, he said it was dropping a little more generously than anticipated, but at no time was it dropping a less than the planned rate.
  • The Candy Corn recipe was created simply to give someone with two Gwynefrydds the option to make something from the second, since they are bound to an account and therefore cannot be sold, given, traded, etc. Sure, I agree, it’s not a recipe I’d take advantage of, personally, but was, again, offered as an option if someone were inclined to use it.
  • We don’t know (or at least I believe no one yet knows) future plans for this festive pooch. You can be assured that the devs have seen your feedback about this rare item but Wintersday is a long way away and there are other things closer on the horizon.

It’s not that we don’t know that it’s dropping at its intended rate. We know that it is, that’s not the point. The point is people feel that the intended rate is far too low for a Holliday minipet and that the low drop rate is causing way more frustration than should be in a game for a minipet that so many want and is so unobtainable unless you are rich in game. The need to be rich to get this item also fuels the accusation that ANet does this sort of thing to promote buying gems with real money to buy gold. True or not, it causes bad feelings about ANet’s motives.

The low drop rate gives the impression that ANet is more concerned about metrics and the economy (that the trick or treat bags have a reason for people to buy large numbers so that prices don’t bottom out) than they are concerned with people walking away from the Holliday with a happy smile on their faces.

Daily Event Completer...

The daily event has been turned into a junk daily. Zergs racing from event to event and no one cares what the story of the event is because they are too anxious to get their tag and the credit.

I do as little as possible. Tag the event, move to the next, tag, move, get my 4 medals and waypoint out of that stupid mess of a daily. Leaving behind me the frustrated cries rising to the heavens, “Events?” “Waypoint?”

guild bank transfers for "NEW" accounts

I suspect it’s both age of account and amount played. Also, did you try transferring smaller amounts? I was able to transfer that much to my main account through my personal guild by putting in 1 gold at a time. If that refuses, try a smaller amount.

I don’t understand. Are you asking that new players who come in halfway and get free Living Story episodes not be able to buy the previous sections that they don’t have until later when the whole thing is bundled?

Surprised no one has come up with a convoluted way to tie it to Cantha being released shortly.

Lol..it’s in the screenshot above. =P

Two references! Cantha is confirmed!!!

I logged in to check. None at Ministers wp but the 3 in Rata Sum by the LA portal were there.

Maybe it depends on which shard you land in for the ones at the Ministers wp.
