Evidence? I doubt you can prove that.
Anecdotal. To be added to by people in this thread.
Unless people like yourself provide comments with no use.
As it has been already mentioned, this forum saw a ton of similar, anecdotal evidence “proving” something completely opposite. And all of it suffered from the same problem as your case – too low sample for any meaningful conclusions.

Part of being a casual player, as I am, is you have to realize that you won’t have the same opportunities for items or to earn as much gold as those that play more. That just goes with the territory of casual play in an MMO. The other option is to buy gems and convert to gold. That’s just the way it works.
But there is no reason why that is the way it has to work. That is simply the way it was implemented.
No, it actually has to work like that. It’s simple logic. Everything you do to earn gold and items, a farmer can do as well. Except, they can also farm on top of that.
The solution is not (and never was) to make casual players’ buying power greater. The solution is to make the end objects more accessible directly. Because then the farmer would still have more of everything than you, but at the same time you could have anything you really wanted.
Of course, then you need to think of something that would keep players in the game that wouldn’t be item-based.

Well from what ive heard, people are saying “It’s too ahrd and takes too long for the reward to be worth it.” and to me, if thats the reason, its kinda ridiculous. a 10 minute, 15 min max event is too long for a guaranteed 2 rares?
With a 99% fail rate, it is too hard.
Well, it’s not really 99% fail rate. It’s 100% fail most of the time, and about 33-50% success chance once a week on my server. Assuming the few quilds that gather for it aren’t doing something else, that you know when they are going to try, or that you are even online at the time.
There were attempts to make him more often. Those resulted in overall success chance per attempt significantly dropping however, so those were abandoned.
There’s only so much times you can pull of such organizational effort before everyone is just too tired with it.
Why cant the GW2 pop actually enjoy a challenge instead of wanting everything handed to them?
Oh, i don’t know, perhaps they don’t consider this challenge to be fun at all?
No, game cannot force players to have fun on demand. It must supply activities people will consider fun on their own. If they don’t, it’s not the problem with players, but with the game.

This is undoubtedly the worst I’ve seen and I’ve been here since launch, though I don’t live on the forums. The introduction of ascended gear didn’t generate this much negative emotion.
Either you don’t remember it that well, or you weren’t there a year ago. It was much worse – but it was far more one-sided then, so there was less mudslinging at other players.
The truly unfortunate thing about all this is the precedence it has created…
Some people don’t like something? Scream and whine loud enough (with certain catch-phrases thrown into it like how ‘devalued’ something has become) and Anet will respond…
That practice has been introduced here a year ago, when anet introduced ascended gear because of content locust whining.
Also, some decisions are really just bad. This last one was really a huge blunder on Anet’s part.

Instead of restricting player usability, how about we just change the tier 1 fractals to be a bit more balanced so that people don’t care which one they get?
Why won’t we start with balancing tier 3 first? Say, cutting Dredge to half a size? Because people rolling for swamp is a minor problem compared to that.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
They won’t do this because then Dredge and Grawl will never be played.
As opposed to rolling only for swamp first?
If the entire playerbase purposefully avoids a level then that indicates you need to properly balance your levels.
And this too.

I wonder how big the population of the group that absolutely hates the idea of all cultural armor being broadly obtainable is.
I have no idea. I know, that everytime when i have been mentioning that i consider the armor to be too costly, and/or quetioned it’s exclusivity, i was always piled on by a ton of people claiming that those armor’s only value is the exclusivity. That “if everyone could wear it, they would become worthless”. I don’t understand that way of thinking, but it does exist, and it seems to be shared by a lot of people.
Are they in majority? I hope they aren’t, but i just have no way of knowing.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Actually favoring one side and screwing the other is not the best option. The best option would have always been finding a middle ground. Let people who bought it keep it. Rework and re-release a new set for everyone to buy. People who bought it would have been happy/relieved, people who hate it would only have to deal with a small handful of people who have it, and the only people who could really be TOO upset are the people who acted too slowly on buying it, but it would be the most globally fair.
Except that the group “we don’t want that armor skin in the game” will NOT be pleased by that solution and so your solution is not a middle ground but one that favors group B and ignores group A.
That’s even worse – there are not two, but three groups in this dispute. Group A wants culturals to remain exclusive. Group B wants cultural to stop being exclusive. Group C, regardless where they stand in the discussion about exclusives, wants to retain the armor they bought.
The options are:
1. Please group A by removing armor (the option that was chosen). It will not please group B, of course, but it would mean a return to status quo from before, so they would not be that much displeased. It will definitely not please group C.
It requires some effort on Anet’s part – they need to create a new version of one armor.
2. Please group B, by adding all cultural armor reskins to the gemshop. Group C would retain their armor, so they would be pleased. Group A would cause even greater kittenstorm than before.
This version requires a major effort on Anet’s part. They’d need to create cultural variants for all cultural armor and every race. More armor than they have done since the beginning of the game.
3. Please group C, by allowing them to retain their armor. This would not please group A – they would still demand armor removal. This would please group B – who would then demand creating more culturals. . If Anet agrees to group B, see option 2. If denied, Group B would get displeased again. More than the return to status quo would do. most likely.
That option does not require any effort on Anet’s part.
Now, it might seem that all 3 options are equal, but they are not. As noted, Anet’s effort is different for every option – that would seem to favour option 3, except it is also the option that pleases the least number of people, while displeasing the most.
Basically, option 3 would displease anyone not of group C (except of course the people that do not care about the matter at all, but they can be ignored in all 3 cases equally).
Which is why it is extremely unlikely Anet would ever agree to it.
Your middle ground actually bothers more people than you think. Group A is still kitten ed off. Group B is now split into two : those that bought the skin in time and the others. Your middle ground solution results in :
- Group A : unhappy
- Group B2 : unhappy- Group B1 : happy
So it’s worse than deciding plainly for group A or group B.
As someone already noticed before me.
All I know is that I see VERY few people with the skin in game.
Yes. Why if someone has to be displeased, that group is the obvious choice (as they are the smallest).

Make drops unique to each fractal. Problem solved (especially considering how much drops there are in swamp).
Remember, remember, 15th of November
We know for a fact that Scarlet wouldn’t be involved with the Abaddon Fractal. The Reactor’s meltdown was recent, thus it makes perfect sense for her to be involved with the Inquest’s research. Abaddon’s battle was at the dawn of magic, before there were Dragons.
According to the new “lore” of gw2 magic (and dragons) was before human gods, and the war between Five Gods and Abaddon was about… well, nothing important, really.
Also, since when any Scarlet LS actually made sense? Considering what has already taken place, i’m pretty sure the devs would’ve found a way for Scarlet to be there as well.
The only time Scarlet would have been a part of the Abaddon Fractal, would be after we finished and exited. She wasn’t around during the time of the god wars, thus wouldn’t have been apart of the actual Fractal instance.
Two words: “time travel”.

How can the rage be minimized? I know our community can think of the solution.
Unfortunately, there would be only one solution that would satisfy everyone. It’s for the replacement Flamekissed skin to be significantly better than the original one.
Every other option would cause problems. And most of those that are suggested here benefit mostly those that suggest it, with no care about everyone else.
Shouldn t be fair a solution in between?
No, that’s a golden mean fallacy speaking. In this case the “balanced” option is the least fair one, because it satisfies the least number of people.
We don t deserve to lose ANYTHING since we did nothing wrong…..
It’s not about you deserving anything. It’s about what’s best for the game. And in this case Anet messed up so badly, that it cannot be fixed without someone undeserving to get shafted.
It’s just your bad luck that you ended up in that category.

Thankyou for the help guys! I currently have 2 rings and a pendant. I am working on the Ascended backpiece (need 180 more powerful blood) and have just found out how to upgrade my rings. Once again thankyou

So HAS anyone gotten a Fractal weapon skin from level 10 – 19 so far? After all the hubbub, I’d like to know if the odds have actually increased or whether people were getting upset over nothing.
Don’t know about 10, but they definitely drop at level 11.

There’s no need to remove them from shop, because noone’s going to buy those anyway.
…come to think, that would be a really good reason to reskin them.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Is that quote correct though?
Today I did a lvl 20 fractal run and a lvl 14 one, yet only the first one gave me a daily chest reward. How come?1-10
11-20
21-30
31-40
41-50That’s why.
I still want to know for sure if fractal weapons come from level 10 dailies or not.
level 10? most likely not (because it is the same daily as level 1, after all).
They do come from 11+ daily, though. A person in my group got a fractal shortbow on level 11 today.

kinda off topic sorry but is this the longest thread in form history?
No, that would be the ascended topic from November 2012.
Copy/Paste/Edit the options with your replies. : )
(feel free to add new options ofc)
First, polls are not allowed on this forum, do not try to circumvent it, you might get whole thread locked.
Second, there are only 2 valid options here:
1. remove armor from the game, replace it with some new reskin (preferably with the same style and art quality, to cause as few protests as possible).
2. Add reskins of all other cultural armor to the shop.
Even before Anet chose their option you could tell which one will be more likely to happen. Unfortunately, because i’d really like them to go with option 2.
not so obvious to me. why couldn’t they give an option like my proposed solution? seems like a great way for them to avoid a lot of customer support refunds and also satisfy the community in the best and fairest way possible.
Ha ha ha. the only people that this option would satisfy would be those that bought the armor. Those that insist on cultural being exclusive for their races would consider this a breach of a rule they like (and a very dangerous precedent) and would continue to ask for that armor’s removal. People that think that cultural armor should not be restricted would also use this as a precedent, and say that the original flamekissed should be returned to the gemshop, and would ask for even more cultural reskins in the future.
That would be neither satisfying, nor fair for the community at all.

I’m glad some people here understand the issue. When something is listed as an improvement and it is clearly not – this is what I call dishonest.
I am yet to see a single person explain how this is an improvement.
It starts being an improvement once you put a +6 agony infusion in this new slot.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Did I miss something? This could have been a future opportunity, sure t3 human light was used, but maybe next time we’d get norn t3 with blue effects.
That’s what you missed. If they were to keep that T3 in shop, there would be no maybe. All other culturals would have to be opened as well.
Which means, someone would have to do those reskins.
It might have been good (there are certainly some culturals i might be interested in), but looking at the rate of armor creation so far, Anet is simply not up to that challenge. And they knew it.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
This increases the costs, time and effort to get back to the +5 AR resistance when previously infusing items. I fail to understand how this is an improvement – if someone could explain to me how increasing the effort and grind required is an improvement please do.
Up to +5 it is not an improvement – but you can go beyond that. Last time i looked there were already double-digit infusions on TP (because they are buyable now).

Tying her into the Abbadon fractal would be impossible without committing some seriously crimes against storytelling, since the entire Sylvari race didn’t exist at the time.

Btw, Spy kits still work and can help you stay a little longer on the platform. Don’t tell anybody!
Seriously tough, at higher lvls you simply con’t expect to stay on the plattform and resist 12 seconds alone. That’s why you have teammates to stole aggro and give the ones on the plattform a little rest.

This. Unfortunately, Arenanet is just following what the community asks for. It’s not the company’s problem, trying to please the customers, the problem is that the customers are… well, don’t get me started.
The real problem is a minor section of the community cried and now another section of the community is starting to find out about it but only after Anet sided with the prior.
Yes and if you say anything that even targets that said group in anyway anet will delete your post and give you warning so becareful what you say mods are watching this thread like crazy! things like QQers/Whiners may not be ok… someone may QQ or Whine about it! :-)
So true…. Its just a shame they couldn’t wait for the votes to get tallied in a game that houses millions when a mere handful sheds a tear.
Oh, let’s be honest there. Both groups are a tiny minority. Majority of players neither have a cultural set, nor bought (or intended to buy) Flamekissed version. If we’re going to be pedantic, most likely the majority of gw2 players don’t even play the game anymore (i’d be surprised if there’s more than a million of active accounts at the moment, and even there i’m being generous).
So, the case already concerns only “a minor section of the community”. And both sides are equally good at crying. Also, voting would be useless. I honestly doubt that Anet has resources to introduce 14 more cultural reskins (20, if we consider the fact that female versions of charr and asura armor sets would need to be made from scratch. Even more when counting all those armor that would need to be redone for charr). Since they couldn’t introduce all cultural armor reskins to the gem shop, the only(1) sensible option was to remove the one already available.
While i’d really like them making alll culturals widely available, i just don’t see it happening, considering that they already have big problems in generating content.
(1) Well, they could also remove racial restrictions on culturals, but it would still require them to do charr versions of other armor, non-charr versions of charr armor, and female versions of charr/asura. That’s still a lot of work.
Not only people with the T3 set were upset. It was also a lot of people who own a cultural set, no matter the race or set. How does that sound like a minority to you?
I’d like you to look at the part of my post where i said that “Majority of players neither have a cultural set, nor bought (or intended to buy) Flamekissed version”. Nowhere there have i specified i was talking about human t3 light only.
Yes, people with cultural sets (any) are a tiny minority in this game. Granted, likely a bigger minority than those that have bought Flamekissed.
Notice also that i have not said anything about whether any of those minorities was right or wrong – i just pointed out that calling out Anet that they acted because “a minor section of the community cried” is hypocritical when used by someone representing another “minor section of the community”.
Ok lets say they change looks for those who bought it. If I dont like it, I want my armor back in same state as it was on the day I applied your skin.
That is an extremely reasonable demand.

The Flamekissed armor IS human scholar Tier 3 cultural armor, with a few flames tacked on, but is made available to all races.
Therefore, human scholars have lost their exclusivity in terms of having their own cultural armor skin; no other race/class combination gets the same treatment. This is unfair.
Exactly. Either exclusivity needs to be preserved for everyone, or equally removed. Anet decided to go for the first option. They might have went for the second one (though it would require much greater effort). What they couldn’t do was to let it stay as it were.
Should look for a way to make everyone happy, Those that want it keep it, those that want to change it can, those that want to keep the exclusivity of the classic vintage one. Mabe give those that bought the t3 human armor gold equal to the value in transmutation stones, i dunno im just spitting out ideas?
Wouldn’t work. In the end, it would either stay exclusive, or lose that exclusivity. You can’t just say “yeah, it’s exclusive… except for those people that shouted very loudly”. It was an attempt to do that that started the whole problem.

Okay I know a lot of people really dislike Scarlet, so I was thinking, how could Anet make her more popular, and something occurred to me.
What would happen if Scarlet killed Trahaerne in a future LS?
Would that make you like her more?
I’ll quote something from one of current developers of Exalted RPG. The statement was made for completely not connected case, but it seems really relevant to this one.
Holden ShearerI don’t know if you’re familiar with professional wrestling, but for such a lowbrow thing it has a very, very highly evolved lingo for describing story-building techniques within a complex milieu, which has proven very useful to me over the years. One of the pro wrestling concepts is that of ‘building heat’ i.e. generating interest in and support of a character with the audience. There are a number of ways of going about this. The most common, and by far the worst, is to steal heat from someone else. For example, you bring a relatively new guy out and have him beat the snot out of one of your established stars. If you are very lucky this builds heat for the new guy without hurting the old star too badly. More often it’s seem as the cheap manipulation it is, and it just makes everyone involved look bad.
Good heat-building methods usually take longer and involve an established property ‘giving the rub’ to the guy the company is trying to ’push’—rather than just having the undercard guy go clown an established name, you have him start hanging around with the bigger guys, maybe tag-teaming with them, put them in some three-way matches where they’re not carrying all the weight. By association with bigger names, some star power rubs off, and the transition isn’t jarring. When they finally beat one of the bigger names, it seems like they’ve arrived where they ought to be.
In other words, you’ve elevated one of your properties without losing anything. This is better than building up one of your properties at the expense of another.
Granted, Trahaerne is not one of the “bigger guys”, but still the above applies. Scarlet needs to be able to stand on her own – building up her popularity solely by stealing the show from others is not going to help her any. She would still remain as badly written as before.

That was imprecise. The new recipes exist for quivers and books only. Fractal capacitors can still be done only the old way (though see here)
Remember, remember, 15th of November
The people who bought the T3 look alike bought it because they liked the look, not because it actually was the Human T3 Cultural Armor.
Quite the contrary. Looking at the posts from the day the armor appeared in gemshop, lot of people did indeed buy it because this was a Cultural (unique) look previously.
Anyway, we just can’t have both things at the same time. Either the armor is revamped and onld look removed from anyone that has it, or the exclusivity of Cultural armors is no more (but then more Cultural reskins should be reintroduced).
Leaving it unchanged for those that bought it, and revamping only for future buyers would make it something that’s more unique than the original human T3. Which i’m sure would not placate protesters even one bit.

It is exactly the same as the real Fractal, and thus it will have around the same difficulty as the other Fractals.
Thus the title of the thread, which I still have yet to get an answer to.
I’ve played the other level 1 fractals, and this is not comparable in difficulty IMO.
Everyone who has ever done a Fractal has also done the level ones, and we all say it is… so what does that tell you?
All? it is definitly harder than your average level 1 fractal. Unless you are comparing it to level 1 dredge, of course. And while it’s not that hard, i shudder to think how it looks at levels 10+.

Mai Trin goes into cannon barrage every 25% of her life.
During barrage she gets boons.. includingregeneration, thus getting above 75% again, as soon she teleports back down she instantly goes back into the barrage state.
Endless cycle………
We had to restart entire level again.. hoping we dont get Mai Trin this time >.>Can this get fixed please?

At this point when we get a LS in JAN we already know “Scarlet did it”
And this is surprising during the Scarlet Living Story? Really? Wow, you have weird expectations.
No, what it means is that there’s nothing to explain beyond “Scarlet did it”. Everything happens “Because Scarlet”. There are no other reasons. There’s nothing complex or interesting. Just another thing being pulled out from a magic hat with no explanations whatsoever.
So i have at some time expected the Story to have quality writing. Apparently, since it is a “Scarlet” story, i have expected too much. Now i expect nothing and i get exactly what i expected.
This is still not a good thing.

Also, if you could choose all your levels, everybody would be playing something like:
- Swamp
- Snowblind/Ascalon
- Not Dredge!
- Maw
This would be ridiculously easy
Maybe. It would be at least fun. While having to go through the Grawl/Colossus/Dredge/Molten combo would be much more difficult, but no fun at all.
No, the 4 fractals chained together are not a problem. Some of the fractals do need to be shortened significantly, though. In fact, from dev comments i was fully expecting those to be redone already in this patch. What we got instead is some “fixes” to dredge that made everything even longer. And two 4th fractal alternatives that are both longer than Maw.

Here’s an update: You are not supposed to like the villain. You’re supposed to hate the villain, hate what they do, hate that you don’t understand why or how they’re doing it and get so emotional that you call for their early demise.
Again, you don’t seem to understand. We do not hate Scarlet for being a “good” (well-written) villain. What we hate is her writing. That’s something completely different. And i do understand why she’s doing what she’s doing – it’s because Anet has problems writing a good and compelling storyline and defaults to most simple, repeatable plots, and “monster of the week” approach.
And i don’t want her dead. I want her removed from the game.
So no, i’d hardly call that a “success”.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
U do not like the character or the gameplay it created? Bcos i like the character but i really dont find the gameplay any fun at all.
I do not dislike Scarlet personally – there’s not enough character in there for that. I have some problems with gameplay (though not with Thaumanova, not yet anyway), but those are generally not connected to the Briar Weed debacle. What i dislike is the poor quality storyline, that pushes badly made characters into places where they really shouldn’t have appeared, and turns GW2 history into a badly written fanfic.
Trying to stay constructive.
Saying that there are more players who like her; or, conversely there are more players who don’t is conjecture. No matter who says it: us or ANet. Any statistics about how many players do the content are also useless (because loot, levels and AP are other reasons players could engage in this content).
How do we get out of this sticky situation and have a final word on how the playerbase feels about Scarlet? Put it to an in-game vote at the end of the Scarlet arc.
As an example: Shodd has performed more work on the Infinity Ball and has found two new realities. He can use the device in one of two ways:
- Imprison Scarlet in a reality not to different from hell. She may be able to find her way back to our reality at some point in the future. This is the option that players would choose if they like Scarlet. “Justice in the form of revenge.”
- Everyone escapes to a reality where the EDs had successfully wiped out intelligent life, Scarlet remains in the original one alone. All permanent Scarlet content (<cough> Thaumanova) is reworked to exclude her, this is the option that players would choose if they don’t like her. “Justice in the form of solitude.”
Ah, so you’d give us a bad option and a bad option? Yeah, that would fit the Scarlet storyline perfectly [/sarcasm]
The option that would satisfy me? Scarlet is trampled by a passing herd of Moas, and dies alone, offscreen. She is never mentioned again. Thaumanova reactor is retconned and every mention of her is removed. Twilight assault is removed and replaced with fixedkittenpatch. Once all mentions of Scarlet are removed there as well (which may be a bit hard), it may be placed there again, as a 4th path.

So i assume that “fix” was what they meant when they said they will look and adjust Dredge difficulty and time?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
You didn’t really. Yes, abandoning and/or retconning the story at this point would cause problems, that’s true, but it’s not like continuing with it would be any less problematic. That is however only in the short term. Abandonment of the storyline at this moment offers some chance to salvage what they can in order for the story to eventually get better again. Leaving Scarlet as she is, however, creates a minefiels all future storylines will have to walk on. And if they are unwilling to correct situation now, they will be even less likely to manage to do it later.
Bolded describes how I did. All you’ve just said now is that a-net should come up with something that everyone can get behind (….great idea).
No, i said, that short term both options have their pros and cons, but long term consequences favour one side significantly.
You are advocating leaving a dangerously faulty bridge unfixed, because any repair work would cause traffic problems. I am saying that yes, traffic problems are bad, but repair is still necessary, because if (when) that bridge finally breaks down, it will cause much more damage.

Continue dong more damage or stopping it now. You chose.
I’ve already demonstrated how the option to stop the current perceived damage isn’t even available right now.
Even the people in my party(random pugs) while doing the new dungeon where unhappy seeing Scarlet.
The chat was full of negative and disappointing comments, That surely says something.
I saved the screenshot, but the language is too inappropriate. So you’ve identified a potential problem. What is your solution for a fix? Otherwise it’s “out of the frying pan, into the fire”.
Scarlet could have been just removed from the Fractal with minimal cost, as her presence there is pretty much an “added value” to the main content of the dungeon. And there was enough time to do that – devs should have been aware that using her would be a bad choice no later than halfway through the design process. At the worst case, fast-pulling of her avatar and scripts could have been done in days, without the need to modify anything else. It certainly would not have introduced any bugs more visible than those that are already there.

Just a small tip – After the death of Zhaitain we got Dragon Bash.
I think that once Scarlet is dealt with we should get an EVEN BIGGER event than Dragon Bash. Because I am pretty sure everyone wants to take a whack at that pinata..
Not really. I don’t want even more events dedicated to her. I’d rather see her to be completely forgotten. She doesn’t deserve anything more.

I guess it means they will make all other culturals accessible to everyone (and cheaper) soon. I can’t wait.

At least with the Abaddon fractal there wouldn’t be Scarlet.
Don’t bet on it

-And what about who already have omni infusions on a slot, what happen to the +5 Vitality?
Nothing. Those are not in AR infusion slot, but in a normal (offensive/defensive/utility) one.

As much as I hate Ascended gear and want it gone, It’s too late now. Arenanet can’t just take ascended gear from players who worked a lot for it, that’s wrong.
Unfortunately, that is true. What could possibly be done however, and what i still hope they could be persuaded to do, is to make ascended gear easily accessible, following original spirit that game was supposed to have. And to stop with any further VP ideas Anet might have.
How is ascended gear not easily accessible? Seriously. That is a terrible argument I see all the time on the forums. The gear is INCREDIBLY accessible. If you play for only an hour a day, you should have at least 2 ascended weapons, and full trinkets by now.
Yeah. A year after introduction.

There are many players that don’t care for fractals so they went by either reduced wp costs or cheaper black lion keys.
I am pretty sure that neither fractal decision nor keys/wp costs option decided the result. In the end, majority of players were simply choosing between human female and charr male. It’s actually surprising that Evon got that much voices at all.

Yes, you can sit in LA chatting with friends. Now, technically speaking, no other game is grindy either if you don’t want to grind.
. . . OR, you can play the game as intended with everyone else. =)
What do you mean by “as intended”? Because i see clearly that the devs do intend us to grind. A lot.

I’m new to this, but loving this match up.
During prime time, when all teams are full, Gandara beats up on Deso, taking the lead by several thousand points. Once Gandara goes to bed, Deso returns the favour, and by late morning they lead by several thousand points. Repeat. Back and forth… the stronger versus the better organized. Great stuff.
Cheers.
Deso seems to be, slowly but consistently, crawling up relatively to Gandara, though. If nothing changes, it may mean Deso win by a small margin in the end. Of course, Gandara coverage seems to be really good at the time end-of-matchup counting takes place, which makes any predictions a bit harder.
And of course, the Fractal LS may change everything overnight, depending on where the PvE population will go.
In general, it is a really interesting week.

I agree with Hjorje on this one. And I think the answer to your question is another question. “Who would grind or have a long term goal of getting a weapon or armor that are equal to the exotics we can already easily obtain?”
Seeing as the ascended weapons were meant (as per original statement) for people that already started then going after Legendaries (you know, those heavy-grind equipment that was equal in stats to easily accessible exotics), i’d say the answer would be “everyone the devs made ascended stuff for”.
Nope the writing analogy works perfectly. I submit a proposal for a book and the publisher accepts that proposal. While working on the book, I see something that’s there doesn’t really work. Most of the time it’s something minor, but sometimes it’s something major. I’ve had a book I’ve delivered so completely different from the synopsis I sold that you’d almost not know it was the same book. The publisher doesn’t care if the book is good and the book will sell.
The reader, that bought the book thinking it was a sci-fi thriller, but got a sparkling vampire romance novel, might care a lot, lot more, though. Even if the book did indeed sell better than the one originally advertised would.
What if the majority of players like to grind?
If I liked grinding I would buy a game that is based on it (and there are tons of grind-based MMOs), and not one that promotes itself as the opposite. But maybe thats just me.
Your talking here so you bought GW2. So you have purchased a game based on grind.
It was not based on grind when i bought it. That came later.
