A-net just need to come clean on whether or not they can fix the culling issue – that is a big issue at present (not just for thieves).
Yeah, it’s pretty ordinary.
I was thinking we could have our own condition type – disease or plague and some mechanics could be built around that.
Yeah, i use unload to fire through the field to achieve blind – pretty useful.
Continually being stuck in combat and unable to travel to waypoints or do anything without re-logging back to character screen.
Might not seem like much, but it’s starting to get really annoying.
Not sure if it has to do with stealth, though i never had this issue on my Mesmer.

Necro being my first 80 character is where my heart is at, but i’m dissapointed that so many things are not being fixed (like, basic bugs – not even balance issues).
Necro might have a lot of hit points, but the damage output is laughable compared with other classes (condition removal ftw). There is no viable burst damage build. Minions are broken, Axe (burst?) does pitiful damage. Many of the traits are broken – that being said, this class excels at PvE, but is not quite on par with the Ranger.
Playing my 80 Mesmer (in WvW) is like being on easy mode compared with the 80 Necro. Even my 80 Ranger is more effective.

I suggest an icon/debuff/condition marker whatever, that tells you specifically when you are under the DR Condition.

Yeah, i don’t think the communication issue has anything to do with the holidays – pretty sure no one has any qualms about them taking a break.
How about addressing in game bugs and giving us some updates – for example, the Necromancer minion issues – there have been dozens of threads about this issue and we have no idea if they are even working on the issue, or if they deem it unimportant due to the small numbers of Necro players.
How hard is it to trot out a one line response saying “We’re working on this”
The community liaison person should be providing feedback from the developers to the customers, not just say “i have sent this to the developers” – that is meaningless. There are so many outstanding bugs and issues that it’s starting to get ridiculous.
Maybe he had +healing on his gear…

Necro ranks just after Guardian, Engineer, Elementalist, Warrior, and Mesmer (which it’s possible to get a 97% damage reduction with) in terms of tanking ability. Nowhere near ‘strongest’ in the game.
Pretty sure necros are still better then mesmers and eles at tanking. Not saying they’re not good, lol. But a necro has aoe statuses (opponent offense reduction), impressive health, minions (to cripple, damage, slow down and be a decoy for foes AND increase your toughness with traits) and DEATH SHROUD.
Attack, gain life force, receive an attack, gain life force, heal, gain life force, death shroud (invincible), it ends, skills are recharged and you’re still at 100%.
You need traits and good utils for that, but it’s possible.No, I can say that unequivocally elementalists and bunker mesmers survive a lot longer than ‘bunker’ necros. Like I said, a mesmer with traits, staff and Illusionary Defender can achieve a 97% damage reduction and can keep that up for quite awhile. They will and do last a lot longer than any necro would under similar pressure. Elementalist should be obvious. No sane team would take a bunker necro over a bunker ele, ever.

I would like a new type of condition, maybe disease or plague… makes more sense than bleeding, which everyone else gets.
Elementalist and Guardian are the strongest tanks in the game. Necros are not bad here either – it’s probably one of the benefits of the class.
Have you ever tried to kill a bunker Elementalist? Freaking ridiculous.
My traits are 10/30/30/0/0 – recently re-specced to try something different.
Yeah, my toughness is lacking a bit – i only have +330, but i still find the damage output on heartseeker to be offensive. Just my opinion anyway.
TBH, haven’t played the class in a couple of months because i have a level 80 Mesmer now, which is like easy mode compared to my Necro. Took the Necro out for a run to try some re-specced traits.
Necro is still golden in keep defence/offence.

Staff 1 is the worst… has to be the slowest moving projectile in the game.
Even a Dolyak could dodge it.
Only compensation is that it can hit multiple targets.
I just used scepter & focus when levelling up – Necro’s are pretty tanky, but if you get into trouble just kite the mob and let your bleeds take care of business.
Necro is pretty strong in PvE… i would hold off on the minion build until they fix minions.
Keep a warhorn in your bag to swap in for speed… also staff in the secondary weapon slot is good for events & bosses.
The chain CC and grabbing is annoying as hell…. makes me want to /ragequit

First I strongly dislike when people start a thread with “I played all the classes to lvl 80”. You know what it tells me?
You don’t have a clue about most of them though cause you’ve been playing on all of them and didn’t learn the specifics of most.
I’m not going to be an hypocrite and say the necro doesn’t have some problems mainly with pets but then again imo pets are best left out of pvp environments.
Simply put (and I’m not going to give you a lectoring here) if you know what you’re doing the necro can be the best bunker build for pvp.
Second it can as someone mentioned be one if not the best condition spec (with very useful aoe’s) in pvp.
You can ask any experienced player and I also play a necro so I know what I’m saying.
3rd – Necros aren’t meant to be built as a glass cannon class, but that is only my opinion since they benefit alot from toughness and vitality and are usually better at wars of attrition.
you can ofc spec glass but then youre a caster and will have a hard time staying alive specially if you dont invest heavily in the DS tree.
Necros are a major power in pvp. Not in pve. So they are far from sucking like you imply.
Disagree with the PvE part – i find Necro’s to be really strong in PvE – the only class stronger is my 80 Ranger and he can solo several Champion encounters.
This is what frustrates me – you say Necro’s aren’t meant to be glass cannon – we should only be bunker/condition.
How is it that every other class in the game has viable alternatives, yet we’re pidgeon holed into conditions/wells. Wells are entirely situational and are easily dodged. Conditions are easily cured. I agree that Necro’s are far from broken, but i beleive we are in need of attention from the development team.
I have been quite successful in WvW on my Necro, but it would be nice to have some versatility (options – like other classes have) and some bugs and issues fixed – you would think that the minion AI issues would be an important thing to fix, given that one of our elite abilities only works about 50% of the time.
Look at how many options the Elementalist has in terms of playstyle – currently levelling one up and there are so many options it’s almost unbelievable.
Then you say “imo pets are best left out of pvp environments” – why? Why should we disregard such a major component of our class – would you ask the same of rangers? So many of our spells, and even an elite and several traits focus on our pets, so i’m not sure why we should disregard that.
Just got hit by a thief for 6,000+ damage twice with heartseeker (not even backstab)… good thing i have death shroud as a panic button or i would have eaten dirt shortly thereafter.
I then started to whiff away at him with my feather duster (life transfer) and he vanished.
Level 80 Necro, full exotics.
Guess this is what A-net means by class balance.
This is just depressing, even though I survived.
Think i will stick to the Mesmer and continue levelling up my Thief.

You guys can have the Necro pets… we’ll trade our useless pets for the great DPS and utility.
Jormag is the worst event in history (aside from the dragon crashing from the sky).
You’re not actually fighting a dragon, you’re fighting an ice wall… the second part is better, but only marginally. I reckon The Sunless is the best dragon event in game.
The loot is horrendous as well – trash mobs drop much better stuff.
Condition damage is ineffective because everyone has condition removal…. I don’t think conditions should be so easily removed… it borders on the ridiculous. Nothing like cracking out 10 stacks of bleed on someone only to have it removed and them heal up to full, while burst DPS builds suffer no such qualms.
Cosmetics are fine to have in a cash shop…, also B2p is a MUCH better model with cosmetic micro transactions then a pay to win F2p model…

They sell gold, were have you been? Gold isnt a cosmetic, its the thing in this game. In every MMO. In life. Besides, even if it was just cosmetics (which its not) why do you think cosmetics are fine in a cash shop? They arent, getting unique items is part of the PVE competition, and in a competition it shouldnt be pay to win.
Gold has 0 effect on ur power in this game, “where” have you been? I can obtain a full set of exotic gear without paying 1 copper as well as a full set of sigils and runes…I would suspect most users who sell Gems for gold are doing so because they dont have time to farm mats for their legendary “skins/aka cosmetics” And need more gold now…which doesnt effect my gameplay in 1 bit…im sorry even if u have 9999 gold in ur bank, it wouldnt make u a stronger player in any aspect

I’ve bought gold for this reason … i work 15 hours a day and don’t have time to farm mats/globs. I’ve also bought extra bank space and character inventory space. I also wasted $50 on rubbish wintersday boxes, so it looks like i’m the fool.
I find i do well in zergs and keep defence/offence.
Being a condition Neco it takes me a while to kill someone 1 on 1.
Best spells are the heal that feasts on conditions and epidemic.
If they nerf epidemic in the upcoming AE balance patch i will cry.
There is not one class out there that can’t out-perform us.
It’s called a Necromancer.
Mesmer is not bad… i run solo on mine a bit and stir up some kitten.
I would go Thief or Elementalist… both have heaps of getaway tricks if the situation starts going south.
Trade the gold for cash and get some christmas crackle…
I enjoy the combat as well.
On my 80 Ranger i took down 2 thieves that jumped me – i can’t ever remember having so much adrenaline running through my veins, i was literally shaking. It was awesome.
Yeah, i love beating up stuff in PvE also… especially on tough encounters.
BTW – i also disagree with the Gambling/RNG – it is a joke.
If you want something difficult and frustrating try the Necro or Engineer.
Sir Vincent III where is the gambling in what they are doing??(im not saying its some what random generated, even tho I will keep saying something human made cant be random BUT we dont know what it uses to generate the items with, as it could be a factor of time, when a mob is slain, what dragon where there last, who has what in WvW, something going on in the real world and the list can go on and be combinded in many diffrent ways and at some point it will be impossible for us to know when what comes out but that dont make it random)
as gambeling is where i can be given a chance to gain money or material value but as the things you gain in the chests is account bound i gain no value for doing it, and its not even needed to be real money to gain the chest as it can be done with gold to.
and if you are that much agienst real money gambling then i would like to see all sports, horse raceing, lottery and all thoes kind of things gone as they are all gambling oh hell even the stock market is gambling, do you want me to go on??

I have no issue with gambling, but pretty sure it’s illegal in some places and would certainly be an issue if kids were doing this… just saying..
Look I’ve said it on other threads, the price for these items (real world money) is way too much. If I’m goign to be forced into a situation where I’m having to gamble to get in game items then at least give me a fair shot without having to pay over the original price for the entire game, this isn’t fair.
So far Ive spent £8.50 on the mystery boxes and not one mini.. where is my incentive to buy more? Yes I know this is a free to play game but this is way too much, I’ve already spent more than half a years worth of subs (average) so they must be doing ok.
Me too. Easily. I’ve probably already waxed $200 on gems in this game, increasing bank space, bag space on toons, getting some gold to buy a couple of nice weapons.
You think with this money they could pay someone to act as a community liaison on the forum or something..
Anyone remember DaoC? they had Sonja (or whatever) who liaised b/w the gamers and the devs – that was decent – at least someone acknowledged your existence.

So i just re-specced and picked up this trait.
I switch to staff to check out my new mark size…
Is is just me or do Mark of Blood (2), Putrid Mark (4) and Reaper’s Mark (5) not seem to have increased in size at all? Chillbains (3) now covers a massive area… but the others don’t seem to have changed at all.
minions are weak – have long time to reuse , dieing very fast, usualy stand behind me and do nothing, ususaly atack no my target and atack all what i left behind me when i runing around ;].
Minions need many AI improvements. In Dungeon minions are useles, died faseter than they do anything good ;] and necro cant summon another one.. like i say long CD.

Think it would be too OP for WvW though, but for PvE it would be awesome.
I think that once a thief engages a target, there should be a cooldown before they can re-enter stealth…
Just levelling up my Elementalist now, very squishy i must admit, but the DPS is insane… you should not need anything else.
Also, 80% of waypoints in Orr and surrounding zones being contested all the time – just gives me the kittens.
Even DAOC had capes and that’s the oldest game ever… surely it wouldn’t be that hard.
Agree. On the Necro i only switch to staff to fear people trying to finish someone off, then i have to wait for the cooldown before i can switch back to sceptre… annoying as hell, especially since the staff is so gimpy in open field combat.
I agree that the game is ranged focused. People meleeing get pwned by Champion mobs all the time… they should look at this.

Yeah, i felt bad afterwards – i read a post where a guy bought a few boxes and got all 3 pets, so i was pretty optimistic.
Necro here as well (among other classes – Mesmer, Ranger);
What would help from A-net is some communication… you know, to let us know that they are looking into it, or that there are so few Necro players that it’s not worth the effort.
I don’t understand why they can’t apply another classes Minion AI to the Necro.
Even summoned pets from runes engage the mobs you are attacking, but the Necro pits sit around like mannequins in a department store and watch you die.
But don’t worry guys, Mesmer illusions engage 0.25 seconds now!

I also have a level 80 Mesmer, but you can see how A-net prioritises every other class ahead of the Necro because of the number of players playing that class.
The Phantasm issue was sorted in what? 1 week? Necro pet issue has been around since Beta – really think about how woeful this is.
I’m sure Thieves will get buffed again next patch as well.
The whole reason i rolled the Mesmer was because the Necro issues…. the classes are like night and day when it comes to WvW.
imo, every class has 3 stats, Burst,Defense, and Mobility. If one class has the best 2/3 stats in the game=OP. In a Thieves case Burst and Mobility.
Necro has no reasonable burst damage… only viable spec is condition, which can be removed by anyone… good times.
This bug is still occurring… how long has the game been out?
It’s the loudest bug on earth.
I’ve had mobs targeted, I’ve engaged them and the pets do nothing – not all the time mind you, but this does happen frequently.
Every pet in the game seems to work except the Necro pets… even the summoned pets off Runes/Sigils work better than Necro pets… you have to wonder why?
Was the Necro a rushed job at the last minute?
Just give us the ranger pet AI – how hard does this have to be?
