The pets will always attack the person you attack. The problems you see are as follows.

This is incorrect.

On occasion, the Flesh Golem will not attack the target that i attack and have targeted.

Not a fan of the final encounter when the whole floor turns red and you’re out of endurance. 0.o

GW2 dungeon boss mechanics seem to revolve around high HPs and turning the whole floor red.

Reasonable enough dungeon i suppose… forget which path i did, 1st or 2nd? We did it with 4 ppl.

doubt you know what tank and spank means -.- i have yet to see the tank in this game which can actually tank&spank any of the bosses, a high amount of movability is needed…
if you mean stuff like running around pulling leavers and kitten, no ty….

a big problem with the ease of dungeon is exploiters which should be perma banned.

when that is said a difficulty choice would be nice on each dungeon, i dont think harder difficulty should gain any significant reward increase due to the nature of the game reward system, but a bit more would be ok

I would like to be able to solo dungeons as well.

We have a small guild of close friends who have families/children and are not always available… we often 3 man some dungeons and do ok, but i think this is a great idea personally.

It would be nice to get a damage buff to Axe… i’ve started playing this spec because i was bored with conditions and the whack, whack, whack, whack, whack…

It’s ok.. even in full Zerker gear the damage is pretty laughable compared to any other spec on any other character I have.

Dagger has much higher DPS, but requires you to be right in someone’s face… which often means a warrior or something.. not keen for that.

So just took down an Elementalist with my Necro 1 on 1 (which is surprise enough), got him to within a sliver of death and he revives of this stupid pet and kills me …. this just frustrates me beyond belief.

Why can’t they just remove it…. so many things in this game are starting to annoy the absolute kitten out of me. The community asked for it to be remove and they just made it stick around even longer like some sort of cruel punishment for choosing this class.

First time in AC tonight with 2 others (also first timers), we beat Kohler easily, but that troll was impossible. We gave up and left him there and then we got stuck on the burrow part – hundreds of mobs swarming us. Think we need a couple of extra DPS in order to finish this dungeon path.

I use P/P and D/D – ranged and close combat.

Works really well for me. Unload does insane damage (sometimes 6K). You would be surprised how many people don’t dodge a channelling skill.

I can only dream of getting a burst like that on my Necro

Ok, i`ll put it another way so you can understand what i mean.
I`m playing a necro. Let`s say i can stack conditions on a wall. It is not possible, but lets pretend, because its the same thing, using a skill on a wall. Me and/or others stack 25 bleeds and other conditions on it and i use the skill epidemic to spread it and kill the targets close to that wall. That would give me an unfair advantage. Do you honestly think of that as being “ok” ?

You can’t but I can, so I’m going to keep doing it until Anet says it is an exploit…

Wall/Door isn’t the only way to get infinite stealth….

2 thieves can infinite stealth up to 5 within a radius via blast combo (black powder then cluster bomb)
1 thief can infinite stealth via black powder/HS

We can already do it, the CnD wall/door is the lazy man way of doing it.

It’s an exploit… if you decide to, be prepared to go the way of the snowflake exploiters.

Logically, what are are saying makes sense, but this is a computer game.

Burst damage is already king in this game, given most encounters are short and when they are long, there is no cap on burst damage.

I don’t know about major buffs, but Necro’s are in definite need of attention. Lets start with BUG FIXES and at least get the class into the shape it should have been in when the game was launched – minion fixes, trait fixes (remove jagged horror already), fix our skills so they do what they are supposed to.

Additionally, Necro’s lack a good burst damage option… most every other class has this at least as an option. Axe is incredibly weak and dagger is not great either.

Wasn’t it Arena Net that said we should be able to play the style we want to? Except we are pigeon holed into a condition/attrition spec type, which is annoying.

Unfortunatley, conditions do not work as well as burst damage – there is no getting around this issue at present. In WvW fights are brief affairs, meaning condition builds only reach a fraction of their potential – take into account passive/active condition removal and it really starts to paint a bleak picture.

In saying that, I believe conditions on a whole need to be looked at.

Orr is the most annoying zone in any game i have ever played… pulling, sinking, cced… then giant catapults keep spamming you no matter where you stand.

Who the hell would design a zone like this?

Everything is always contested, so you have to run the whole way, which would be fine if the road weren’t scattered with hundreds of these stupid mobs… you can try and just run through, but risk being cc’ed/pulled to death.

Necro, Ranger and Engineer

IMO, the disparty b/w Ranger/Necro and Thief/Mesmer in WvW is very noticeable. Not saying Thief/Mesmer are OP or anything, they are both just very solid classes, as are Warriors/Guardians/Eles (well played Eles anyway).

Each class has a few great things, but they definitely need to look at them.

With the upcoming AoE nerf, it will be really sad if they nerf epidemic, which is one of the Necros best abilities.

It will also speak volumes to me if they can’t even be bothered fixing the Necro minions in the next patch.

They have pets that proc off runes or sigils that have more solid AI than the Necro – I don’t understand this.

It’s a class mechanic that’s not working – still in beta phase if you will. The Necro forums are saturated with requests/complaints/prayers and no response to this issue at all.

Going to be difficult to finish Crucible of Eternity in explorable mode without rez rushing… i think it’s the last boss, every time you try and revive a downed player the whole floor turns red and goes boom… you can dodge, but you are going to die eventually… my experience anyways.

We finished the encounter, but all had broken gear at the end.

I love how people make mass hysteria with just the tip of something that could or could not affect them.

You mean something like “We need to do something with gun control.” The fact is we don’t know where it will lead and it could be much worse than you expect. People are just preparing themselves for what may be coming. Nothing wrong with being prepared.

Getting ready is looking for alternative options. Here, I read “if they nerf them I quit Necro.”. :P

I think people have been let down by most of the patches/changes released so far… once you get let down a few times, you start to get a negative vibe about the whole thing – it’s human nature to feel this way.

Just saying.

I still can’t believe minion AI hasn’t been fixed.. the flesh golem would be a great asset in WvW if it attacked.

If you’re rocking up in full zerker gear and with no Vit/Tough then it’s going to be challenging.

I have no issues with my thief as long as i stay mobile.

I’ve capped out on bank slots (i’ve bought as many as the game will allow) and have one whole slot for my runes/sigils… would be nice if i could free up this room for some other stuff.

It’s really not that difficult… easier than the loadstones.

Without trying, i’ve accumulated somewhere in the vacinity of 400 and i’m not in WvW all that often.

Keep Lords usually drop 2, so join the zerg and take some keeps.

Just went through Crucible of Eternity where the final boss sets the whole floor on fire or whatever – we got through once today (with 4 people), but it was a terrible experience all around.

Red rings stretching from wall to wall… you dodge roll and get rubber banded back to your starting point and die in one hit. Or you manage to get just outside the red circle, but somehow still get hit and die instantly.

Then you have to run back from the way point, which conveniently is miles away. The second run (with 5 people) we got him to about 50%, but he returned to full health when we couldn’t get a player back in time. It’s just depressing after a while.

Haven’t done AC since i was low level, but i remember the rangers in that place being harder than the boss mobs (one shotting everyone), which is absurd.

There is always two sides to these “necro is screwed/UP” threads.

We have people who are very loyal to the class, play to win to the best of what they’re given, try to ignore the heavy downfalls by structuring to cover weaknesses, and then try to blatantly discredit haters with information on how to get over their “whines”.

Then we have people who are frustrated and tired with the fact that you can play other alts and have a much easier time building a bombshell character that wins in a specific setting much easier than the necro can when similarly built. In turn, they get angry at those who are “pro” for necro and get insulted or annoyed by their apparent wish to keep necro nerfed.

Both sides aren’t seeing the reality of the class.

The necromancer is doing just as well as any other class, except for the few builds from one or two classes that are currently overpowered in specific setups. What this means is, we have players getting OWNED by a specific class tailored to execute a specific kill in a specific setting and once we have people experiencing frustration in that specific setting, they must assume the class is broken since there is no way to combat an unbalanced build with a balanced build meant to work well in all cases.

If we actually check the data SEPARATELY between wvw/pve/dungeons/spvp/tpvp we will find that the necromancer does well enough in all respects, with some slightly better performance and satisfaction among solo PvE players and hotjoin sPvPers.

The reason for this is because of the flexibilility of the class. It encompasses a lot of roles simultaneously pretty well no matter how you build it. The downside is we lack explosive specialty build potential like a berserker gcan thief d/d build or a bunker d/d ele or mace/shield regen bunk guardian.

I was reading some other posts in the other subforums and there are other players discussing the nature of bunkering and burst in the game.

from the material i’ve been reading, the discussions I’ve been taking a part of, and the opinions gathered from many different players, not just Necromancers, the largest issues in the game are as follows, and affects all classes equally except for shatter mesmers and 30/30 warriors in non-competitive PvP settings like sPvP and WvW:

  • Bleed cap, non-synchronous play affectation.
  • Burst builds not being harnessed correctly. (specialty build that ONLY kill well in a gank fight against most other builds that are not built to bunker)
  • Bunker builds (m/s guardian, regen/clone mesmer, PTV necros, 30/30 PTV warriors w/ shout cleansing, permastealth culling exploitative bleed thieves, double pet rangers sitting on their downed states (rock drakes?), harass CC bomb engis, etc. that are so hard to kill, you expend all your tools and instagib yourself or cannot kill each other due to regenerative natures)
  • Cleansing, greatly limiting the effectiveness of condition-focused players. The balance is bob-tailed when anyone stacks conditions.
  • Cooldown unbalance— variety in builds going head to head make cooldown management awful for many players since key utilities, internal cd traits, and skills are either used too frequently, are not needed at all, or simply do not have any use against a certain build. This is due to poor mechanic implementation with respect to counter builds.

This is all gathered from my research and insight into MANY if not nearly all the subforums as of late, so please take into consideration that we’re not the only ones who feel gimp in some settings.

tl;dr we’re not broken, but we’re also far from balanced. the key right now is to play in a fun, samewhat balanced, strong build that accentuates your specific playstyle. Try to avoid gameplay or fights that you know you will not enjoy. in other words, play to win.

Necro is a decent class, but we do have some problems that need fixing.

I still get a kick out of my survivability – kitten the enemy off with death shroud and plague form.

Still, as an “attrition” class, I have nothing on the Guardian/Elementalist.

It would also be nice to have options… one thing i notice with my other Level 80 characters is the variety in trait lines and spec builds.

It’s so hard to chose what traits to take on my Thief… i’ve swapped, unswapped, reswapped… don’t have that problem on the Necro.

P/P is still horrid.

Damage from unload is sill very easily mitigated with dodge… and with that channel time it gives your opponent a long time to be able to mitigate. Every video I’ve seen with P/P thieves showing off is always vs people that apparently haven’t figured out that there is a dodge in this game.

You could say that about any channelling skill in the game…

I find in WvW people don’t dodge as much as they should… particularly in large zergs where there is a lot going on.

I’m using D/D for melee and then P/P for ranged and swapping in the shortbow for keep defence/offence.

Yes! This happens all the time.

It seems as if the mouse cursor dissapears behind the game or something – i am using windowed mode, not sure if that makes a difference.

Agree 100%.

They are the most precious/rare item in the game – you should not be able to trade/sell.

I would like to see dungeon tokens available on the TP though.

Just a thought – some people may have an excess of tokens.

Played for 200+ hours exotic never dropped

I’ve levelled up 4 level 80s and only ever had 1 exotic drop.

I’ve done dragon runs dozens upon dozens of times and only once received a rare drop (2 rares in the one battle). Considering how worthless rares are (used only to salvage or sell for globs), you think they would be more common.

Drop rates in this game are terrible.

So finally have my Thief to level 80 and notice in WvW Heartseeker will not hit moving targets (it also happens in PvE when mobs are running away from me , but it’s not as noticeable)… and I’m not talking about players who are dodging.. just running away from me or strafing.

Every single time i just get “Miss”, “Miss”… “Miss”.

As an Australian player, I have been told that this might be the delay/lag from playing over here.

I know i have issues with stealth not working as it would normally because of delay/lag.

Interested to see what is causing this issue….

Can’t go wrong with;

Mesmer/Elementalist – caster
Thief – stealth
Warrior/Guardian – melee

Depends on your play style really.

Even Engineers, Rangers and Necros can be effective in certain situations (keep offence/defence).

One of the cool things about DaOC was that you could see who you were fighting in combat logs…. certain people gained notoriety and it was really cool.

After you beat that dominant infiltrator that everyone talked about you felt really kitten awesome… this happened a couple of times and i felt proud as hell.

They also had server leaderbords for each class – this would also be cool. They could track WvW kills, WvW points or some other form of measurement.

Champion Unique Drops and Ghost Town Areas

Agree. Champions drop less loot than trash mobs – this just doesn’t sit well with me.

There should be something unique you get from a champion, whether its armour, weapons or T6 mats… maybe liquid karma or mystic coins? There are many possibilities.

Champions go largely untouched because there is no reward for fighting them.

Ranger Pets...

It’s a problem when trying to hot foot it through a zone to reach a specific point… as soon as you get hit the pet pops out and it slows you down for longer than if you had no pet.

Ascended Gear obtainable from WvW

I don’t think that the stat difference provided by the addition of Ascended gear will make that large of a difference in WvW. A well skilled player is much better than a well geared player after all.

Some of the stats are pretty epic to be honest.

IMO, It will make a difference between 2 equally skilled players.

Never done fractals… saw some of the stats on these items last night and i’m thinking i may have no choice if i want to remain on par in WvW.

My god that was hilarious, only because i went through the exact same issues on some of my characters….. it’s sooooo frustrating and makes no sense. Glad i’m not along in my struggles.

Now i just wait for the DE to trigger outside so i can complete the heart that way.

Elites are crap in PvE and too powerful for sPvP. Instead of being smart and separating the two areas of the game they balanced everything around sPvP and dumbed down PvE.

I once suggested that the elite slot should be usable for normal skills. People were against it because they felt a normal utility skill in that slot would be “too powerful”.

That just about says it all I guess.

Agree on the cool downs.

I wish we could set up 2 templates, one for WvW and one for PvE and could switch between them without re-configuring everything.

That would be great.

Raid bosses in Everquest 2 were awesome, like Malkonis D’Morte. Took us weeks to figure that guy out and was so satisfying once we finished it off.

Loads of HPs = boring.

Chain CC and knockdown = annoying as hell.

Challenges/Patterns/Puzzles/Strategy = awesome.

Personal Story and lots of deaths...

The NPCs in the personal story missions are so useless… it’s like taking a ball of wet fur into battle.

They just keep dying and dying, and i rez and they die again… not sure why it was designed like this.

P/P is quite good now.

I’m using P/P more than D/D lately… finding it quite enjoyable. Yeah, unload provides pretty deadly burst damage, plus range is king in this game.

It’s also great to use in a zerg battle, picking off people on the edges of the scrum.

You can summon the flesh golem on land and watch it sink to the bottom like a snitch with bricks chained to his ankles. When you watch it, be sure to put on the NY mobster voice “He sleeps with the fishes, see”

If the minion had a purpose it wouldn’t be so bad… it barely does any damage.

I get the feeling this was added in as fluff because the rest of the class traits/skills didn’t spell “Necromancer”… raising the dead is what Necromancy is, after all.

I would like a plush Quaggan…. maybe you can put a battery/button in that does some Quaggan voice quotes “CooOOo, Quaggan likes you”.
