80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)
- While the trinity does not exist in the game, only certain classes get accepted into groups because of their ability to be versatile (guardian, warrior, etc.)
This.
My favourite class is the Necro, but try getting a group as a Necro for a dungeon – rarely happens, but my Warrior, Guardian and Mesmer are on every guest list.
My main grievance; Knockback / knockdown….. A-net seems to love mechanics that involve people being knocked down repeatedly.
This is really kittening annoying and adds nothing to the encounter or game in general.
Please stop with the knockdowns already.
They had better not change it because i got them especially for my Necro who uses a lot of chills.
New armour will probably only be available in RNG chests that you buy through the Gem Store.
Jumping on a Charr is really hard…. you should get bonus points for having to deal with it.
Is this really happening?
Are the troll of the year awards coming up?
If they added the option for guilds to team up to get the reward together it would solve a lot of the problems. Five small guilds together could do everything that was released for guild content. Instead you need to physically join another guild. Hot joins of guilds of different sizes would be great.
Edit: since they like things in five so much they could just modify the party system. Instead of individuals you get guilds. Symbol is not a person but guild sign. Rep to start and accept this is assigned by guild leader like other permissions.
This would be a good idea.
Forget it… not going to happen.
A-net are satisfied with the current state of the Necro.
It was made perfectly clear in the last State of the Game live-stream.
Siphons are horrible, especially since you need at least 20 points in the line to even consider using them…
Play a DD bunker Ele in water attunement and you will realise how bad they actually are.
They need to scale … even if just a little bit.
I had the same issue on my Necro at that same event…. bugged the hell outa me and then i died… the end.
lol at the first post… i can’t kill something, nerf it now.
People get carried away.. the class is still perfectly viable.
I think the arrow cart changes are the real stinker here.
I would like to be able to pre-load different sets so they don’t take up room in my bags…
For example, one set for WvW, one for Farming and one for Dunegons.
There are cheats in the game…. ran into 2 guys who when put into downed state, we could not finish or damage them at all… happened over and over again with the same guys.
Cheating is incredibly lame.
From Australia here also.
I’ve been getting massive rubber banding when jumping off cliffs…. i will jump and land, then when i try and move i get dropped over and over again. This severe rubber banding is only since the last patch.
Also get it in WvW and PvE on occasion… mobs will run through me sometimes as if they are unable to target me due to lag. Backstabs on my thief do miss despite me being behind them… i usually have to fire Backstab in anticipation of where the invader will be… something i learned in DAOC.
Love it as a zerker/power Necro…. hated it when i was a condition Necro.
I really wish Axe Training was at 20 points just like the Warrior’s Axe training.
It’s one thing that has always bugged me.
It’s hard enough to squeeze damage out of the wet rag…. 30 points in that line is must-have.
Yeah, as i have 7 level 80s this really sucks kitten
Basically I’m picking 3 characters that i like most and just gearing those up… the rest will just have to wait.
1. Speed signet for every class
2. Loot – need to improve loot in the world so that people are not clustered around world bosses waiting for each one to pop. Real world loot is not good at all.
3. Remove diminishing returns – we need to farm for legendary components (T6 mats), however this diminishing returns system is ridiculous and it adds nothing of value to the game.
4. Dungeons – easy, medium & hard modes
5. Mobs with knockback effects – just annoying as hell
6. RNG gambling – See Wintersday, flame and frost
7. Pre-cursors – need more ways to get them
8. Condition stacks/removals – condition < power in a big way. This needs to be re-evaluated.
9. Talk to the class forums – people feel ignored, which leads to bitterness.
10. Auto looting (especially in WvW)
11. Necro life siphoning should be affected by healing power – it’s pathetic in its current form.
Just roll as many classes as possible, that way when they Nerf the one you’re on you can switch to another… Warriors will never be nerfed…. they seem to get buffed eternally.
Well, you read the major part, and that’s what counts.
Either way i didn’t list the classes because people already know which ones
$10 says eles still top that list.
This. Eles will still rawk.
Disease… dot, plus weakness and reduced healing power
Please please please please can you fix this?
So tired of just standing there for 2-3 minutes just to waypoint somewhere, or equip a mining pick or change to a warhorn so i can run faster.
I’m sorry, but I laughed when I read Kravik saying that Ranger pets are better than Necro minions. I’ll say this now, while it’s true the Ranger pet heals itself outside of battle and that can help quite a bit, the problem is that the AI for it is so horrible that the pet itself is a joke. Not to mention most people ignore the pet and aim straight for the player, which is easy to do since you only have to avoid 1 thing, compared to 4. I’d rather have your 4 minions than my pet, especially since those 4 minions can keep people occupied long enough for the necro to kill the opponent (it’s how I keep losing to necros in 1v1 in WvW, especially since they keep hitting for decent damage). The Ranger pet, however…you’re lucky if anybody aims for it. <_<
Also, Necro’s not the worst class to play as. If anything, it requires some skill, similar to Engineer and Ranger (and surprisingly I’m starting to like necro as much as my ranger because of some of the similarities they have for my playstyle).
I have a Ranger and a Necro and i can tell you now that from my perspective the ranger pets are light years ahead of the Necro minions.
The raven’s blinding slash is just awesome – it does huge damage…. there are so many other pet variants for different situations… the confusion on the reef drake is another great utility.
This is the way it should be as well – ranger pets should be the best bar none, and i believe that they are. Like all pets they suffer from AE damage and get wiped out easily, but that’s another issue.
All true but a zerker necro actually does more damage than most classes except warriors and thieves. And boon stripping is very useful on some bosses so it gives them that edge over the other non tier 1 classes. But as you said from a dps stand point they arent optimal and mesmers can boon strip pretty well aswell as providing the group with timewarp. So its kind of just how it goes seeing as efficiency is very important in high skilled dungeon running.
Boon stripping isn’t really an issue in PvE. You can still brute force your way through protection with an extra warrior or thief easier than bringing someone dedicated to the task of removing it. Even then, you’ll find maybe one boss in the entire dungeon that will have boons that you might want to consider having them stripped. Its really not worth it from that same efficiency standpoint. Or just bring a mesmer, like you said, so you can have your cake and eat it too.
In PVP thats a different story entirely, but even still, the classes with boons you want stripped will just reapply those boons faster than we can strip them. This is because they either have passives or more active skills to grant those boons, at much shorter cool downs, than we have at removing them.
Yes exactly, its not worth taking a boon strip class if you lose out on other more important utility or dps. This is why id like to see boss mechanics improved and providing more niche roles for other classes so they all have a certain dungeon where they can be part of the optimum group.
For example if they changed one of the dungeons to have huge amounts of boons on mobs and bosses then a necro would be a great choice. Or maybe some mechanics which prevent brute force from being that effective, allowing conditions to come out on top. This would open up the choices of most efficient team compositions for different dungeons. Which is lacking atm.
This. excellent post!!
Realistically, the Mesmer and Elementalist are a better choice for dungeons than the Necro.. i would like to see that changed, but it doesn’t necessarily need to involve sweeping changes to the class.
I have an 80 ele and necro. I would never even dream of taking my necro into wvw over my ele. The classes are worlds apart in usefulness in pvp. I see necros as easy targets that provide little resistance……
I have both as well, relatively new to the Ele, but the survival is ridiculous. Really enjoying the class.
What i find is with the Elementalist i don’t need to supplement my damage with skills/traits – my weapons take care of all my damage so i can focus on utilities and survivability.
With my Necro, pretty much all my skills and traits are spent to get my damage up to par with other classes. Noted, i can do some solid damage, but i think it’s a bit wonky if you ask me.
I still love the Necro – nothing beats double tapping into a zerg, dropping 2 wells and then Death Shroud → Life Transfer while i run back to my zerg.
I think frostfang looks really cool… goes with all the chills we have i spose… i would really like a dark themed staff or something… Final Rest is good, but something with an effect would be great.
Yes please.
I’m 1 vista away from world complete and it’s right in the corner of EB.
Our server is not doing so well since large guilds left thanks to free server transfers.
I support this 100%.
I’m working towards Frostfang.
Got my gift of battle. 1 vista away from Gift of Exploration. I have about 280 globs and i’m about 40% into the mats that i need (not including loadstones). Still need the pre-cursor.
I’m averaging about 1 loadstone drop a month, so this should take me about 14 years to complete….
They don’t care what you or anyone else thinks…. after the loads of complaint threads following the Wintersday fiasco, that is absolutely clear…
I learnt from the Wintersday fiasco…. do you honestly think they give a kitten about players whining on the forums? I opened about 10 chests… nothing. I’m done.
Glad i got more mystery tonics because I’m really lacking in those.
Loved the fight against the Ele
devon,
since you’re here could you please address the issue of skill not working during zerg fight in WvW to the dev team…. ? i experienced almost 1 minute skill delay. sometimes couldn’t even pick my loot bag, pressed f, but not working.
would appreciate it if you could…
This. It’s not just in WvW…. i have the same issues in PvE with lots of players around.
down stated is working as intended.
those people need to learn to play.
What a meaningful contribution to the discussion.
It gets annoying, but i still run with fleshie in WvW… that charge is awesome.
When a pacth comes and something is perhaps taken away, most often I see people complain that what they liked is gone. But rarely do I see those same people suggest what to fill in the gaps with that would be more beneficial than what we had.
There are pages and pages and pages of suggestions… A-net doesn’t care about our suggestions or thoughts… that is pretty clear.
A-net failed to listen to the Wintersday feedback, which either means they are not reading these forums or they don’t care what their customer base is saying, which is a worry.
I won’t be buying anything from them.
Nice vid!! Nice to see some Necro vids man, wish there were more!
everyone getting a precursor? is this true? and if so can someone plz link where it says this?
They were joking.
I’ve plowed a bunch into the mystic toilet with no luck at all – waste of time and money IMO.
A few new MMOs coming out that i’m looking at… there’s a Dark Age of Camelot sequel of sorts.. that should be interesting since DAOC was one of my favourite games of all time.
Whaaaaa? What’s this DAoC 2-type MMO called?
I mean, GW2 is the next-best-thing to DAoC for me, but if there is going to be something even closer…?
It’s called Camelot Unchained… not sure of the details yet, but there’s some googling to be done.
Agree with everything you’ve said.
My guild of 20 is now a guild of 3/4…
If you don’t like dungeons, there is very little to no end game. I find myself waiting for hours at dragon spawn points so i can get some rares to make some money to save for a pre-cursor… which seems to go up in price every day – it is just ridiculous. Not even taking into account the loadstones i need to buy because they have a drop rate of 0.0001%. I have about 10 loadstones in approximately 1,100 hours of gameplay across my 4 level 80s…
Sometimes i feel the makers of this game are sitting back and laughing at us farming away for this stuff which never drops… oh but you can’t farm because of DR right? That’s another winning idea.
The dungeons are challenging, but most are do-able for experienced players – i completely agree with your comment on this regarding casual players however.
Dungeons are annoying as hell in this game… you know which game had great (raid) dungeons… EQ2. They were so challenging my guild worked for days/weeks on particular encounters… but they were fun and didn’t consist of red rings covering an entire room that 1 shot people (subject alpha i’m looking at you).
I imagine your keeping your eye out for everquest next info too.
Indeed i am.

Happens to me as well… though today i got disconnected from the game and logged back in to end up straight in the overflow… awesome day.
Agree with everything you’ve said.

Arena Net,
You know why people are swarming dragons like flies?
Because it’s the only way to make guaranteed decent money in this game… fix the rest of the game and it wont be so bad.
Just got disconnected by the game again, and log back into overflow… really starting to kitten me off.
Agree, like Necro Axe Training.
Increases damage, but by how much?
Should not need to use a wiki to find out this information.
Deathshroud is great…. please do not change the core mechanics here.
Necro is pretty solid atm… would like to see cool downs and conditions under the deathshroud UI
I run an Axe/Focus build, with life siphoning… do some solid damage with Axe 2, i’ve hit nearly 10k with Axe 2 at the highest and 4.9K with Deathshroud 1.
The life siphon makes up for some of the lack of toughness/vitality… even then i have about 21k hitpoints, which is ridiculous for a glass cannon.
About 3 or 4 exotics in 1,021 hours (not including map completion).
I run with Axe/Focus mainhand with Staff in offhand slot – full power/precis/crit build.
It’s great for the chill, fear and regen from staff 2… plus i have Final Rest and it looks kitten. I more use it for CC and utility than for damage.
I solo roam quite a bit on my Necro… last night I beat down a warrior and a thief (not at the same time).
The flip side is that as soon as a group of enemies spots me, my goose is cooked.
I run zerker gear with Axe/Focus and Staff in the backup spot.
I have a sigil on my Axe with a chance to grant might, and on the focus my other sigil extends vulnerability.
I run Well of Suffering, Well of Corruption and use the run speed signet, but sometimes swap it out for Blood is Power just to have the extra might gain from it.
I have;
Spite 30 Spiteful Talisman, Reaper’s Might, Axe Training
Blood Magic 20 Vampiric, Bloodthirst
Soul Reaping 20 Vital Persistence, Unyielding Blast
It’s a decent build…. i recently switched out from being a Conditionmancer. This spec is so much more fun.
No comment from anyone at Arena-net… typical.
I don’t understand why they just ignore all the threads and issues… when you contact support they tell you to post here… you post here and it’s just black hole of text that vanishes into nothingness.
An official statement would be the least that they could do – you know, in the spirit of customer service…?
