How exactly does queue system work?

I’ve been saying this all along – it makes no sense that our server has a queue to get into EB and one server has 3 times our numbers.

Something is inherently wrong with the queue system and it appears to be causing population imbalance.

… just run out, get steam rolled by enemy zerg 2 – 3 times our size, go back… PvDoor until we get zerged again… rinse repeat. I just get frustrated and log now – i used to play all weekend.

There is nothing wrong with Mesmers… my guy dominates in WvW compared to other classes i play.

Jon, please remove Dhummfire from the Necro and stop nerfing other things. Nobody complained about Necro before the Dhummfire patch – they were one of the bottom 2 or 3 classes in the game.

Remove it and the complaints should go away and then you can focus on buffing utility and sustain etc…

I don’t understand why this isn’t being considered…

I don’t understand why they can’t just remove/change Dhummfire… it was what created the Necro issues to begin with – it feels like A-net doesn’t want to address this trait because they will have to admit they made an error adding it to the class.

Nobody asked for burning on the Necro… people asked for the ability to sustain a bit more.

General changes

- There should be diminishing returns for multiple applications of the same crowd control, so the subsequent stuns or immobilises have less of an effect the more they are chained together. This worked well in DaoC – people had to pick and choose their spots for application of CC. An icon should appear when this diminishing returns is in effect.

- Every class should have access to a 25% run speed signet.

- Bring all class HPs into line and balance accordingly. Guardian/Thief especially would need to be adjusted to account for this.

Necro

- Remove Dhuumfire and have it proc a different condition, ie torment, weakness or chill

- Revert the deathshroud overflow change – this was a Necro’s way to survive spike damage in dungeons as we have no access to blocks, vigor, invulnerability etc.

- Effective life siphoning to scale properly with healing power – make the necro a true attrition class if specced appropriately.

- Axe changed from 600 to 900 range.

- Damage on Axe 1 increased by 50%.

- Make dagger cleave.

- Increase casting speed of focus 5 – the only time this hits in WvW is when someone is out of endurance, it’s so badly telegraphed due to the slow cast.

- Change dark path to a Ground Targeted teleport.

- In Soul Reaping, change “Foot in the Grave” from a Grandmaster to a Master trait.

- Allow Flesh Golem to be used in water or remove the full cool down when the Necro enters the water with Flesh Golem equipped.

- Speed up the projectile of the staff 1 weapon skill – this is still the slowest projectile in the game (this and the Guardian orb).

Ranger

- Re-instate short bow range. This nerf was applied to short bow because no one was using longbow – this was confirmed by a developer. It’s not good enough to justify ruining a weapon set because another one is not up to scratch – this should be reverted effective immediately.

- Allow ranger to permanently stow their pet – as others have mentioned, they should receive additional stats or effects to compensate for the loss in DPS/Utility.

- When the Ranger dodges, the pet should dodge as well.

Elementalist

- Allow an extra weapon set to be slotted, but increase the cool down of switching to 20 seconds

Guardian

- Add shortbow/longbow so they have a decent ranged attack.

- Improve speed on the Scepter 1 skill.

Don’t know why everyone is hating on the OP, I’m sure it’s not his fault people are moving to his server.

Hoping A-net prioritises fixing the queues though – last night i was queued for 45 mins, then i went to character select and back, clicked on Eternal Battlegrounds and was ported in 2 minutes.

If you find yourself waiting for ages, try re-queueing – seems to work for me.

Attrition and 'outplaying' damage

Solution is to roll a Norn, go cheetah mode.

Pretty much the most powerful racial elite in the game, if not more powerful than all non-racial elites.

Asura get useless golems, Charr get useless racials, Human racials are ok – hounds are good for some added DPS.

It’s a pitty i can’t stand the Norn race.

I find the locust swarm hitting mobs really annoying to be honest….. try and make a quick getaway in WvW and you tag mobs = dead necro.

I would rather it be a straight up speed buff.

Yeah, this is most likely a lag issue – i’ve been killed running down a steep hill, or i’ll jump and land 3 times, dying instantly.

Wish it would be fixed, there are so many issues like this that should be a priority.

Constantly disconnected

Having the same problems – A-net broke the game with the last patch.

I honestly don’t know how stuff like this can happen – it’s pathetic.

I just disconnected to character select 4 times during Shatterer event.

My skills will flash and not work and then i’m back at character select.

Really losing my patience with this game.

Not 100% sure if this happens all the time, but every time an Elementalist uses their downed state mist form and dies after using it, the person does not reward any WXP.

Just thought i should raise this as it seems like a bug to me.

I don’t understand the appeal of Pyre Dye anyway. It’s yellow, and a fugly yellow at that…

If you really like that skin try to get it when it is initially released.

If I tell you xxx item will rise price by 200% in a few days, you’d go buy it too.

You call it manipulation. But how about super great sword skin. Many people bought it in hope the price will rise. But it didn’t, you want to call that manipulation too?

In the real world, almost anyone who have more money than they need invest weather it is by interest rate, real estate, stock etc. That is how the real world function. That is what people do.

And in the real world there is people buying parada, just like you trying to buy a skin. Eventhough you can buy a regular bag with same function.

Higher prices = more gem sales

Just ask me – I bought 2 sclerite weapon skins…. :-\

Bugged Queues

Queues will be fixed as part of the new map. They will continue to operate as they have since launch until then. The queue does not function as a typical queue and we are fixing it. It will just take some time. It has been a lower priority than the other things we have done and we’ve only now been able to devote the appropriate resources to it.

So it means : no change before 2014 ??

And does anyone know how queue appears ? Sometimes we are queuing and when we finally enter, we realise we are 40 on the map with 80+ ennemies on both other servers…

I believe map caps are server related meaning if a server has a 100 man EB BL cap it doesn’t mean the other server you are fighting against has the same cap.

Queue is totally random.

That is screwed up and needs to be fixed NOW. No reason for one server to be allotted more players than the server they are fighting. If that is the case, then indeed servers are stacked in favor of others……..

I always wondered about this – we have a queue to get into EB, yet the opposing team seems to outnumber us 3 to 1, is this because of the broken queue system?

I run a power build, you won’t get highest DPS, but it’s still a solid class/build.

I run Axe/Focus, Dagger/Warhorn and I find it really effective in WvW for 1×1s, group fights and zergs.

Wells are great for bag farming.

2. Vampiric isn’t 200-300 per second, its at most what, 50 per hit? Maybe 100 per second with dagger auto?

Um dagger auto attack hits 4 times per second. That is 200 HP per second.

Pretty sure it doesn’t…. maybe 2 times per second, not 4.

Necro – Working siphon/vampire traits…. the last buffs did nothing to help in this area.

Also, a teleport to replace dark path – dark path never hits anything

Ranger – Reinstate the range on Shortbow – the nerf was completely unnecessary.

Ascended Recipes - Different Stats?

A while back I crafted an ascended longbow with assassin stats for my Ranger – quite happy with my bow, even though the class could do with some improvements.

I now want to gear out my Warrior with ascended weapons, namely a longbow with rampager stats as I run a condition based build.

I cannot rely on the recipe I bought for 5 laurels initially – i have to fork over another 5 laurels to by the same weapon recipe with different stats.

This game is already so alt unfriendly, would it not be reasonable to buy the longbow recipe once and be able to make all the stat combinations you like?

These weapons are already time gated to the extreme and are a pain to make.

Can we have some improvements in this area?

I don’t think it’s an unreasonable request.

Necro is in a good position, unless you get chain stunned… then it’s just lol.

Both Power and Condition builds are viable, and hopefully after the 15 October patch, we will have decent bunkering ability with the blood magic changes.

Hi

So a few things about the latest DS changes:

  1. Death Shroud incoming damage
    • You now take the correct amount of incoming damage. Before this change (and it wasn’t always like this, either) you would takes the same damage twice.
    • Your Life Force pool is still the same as it has always been. 60% of your maximum health while alive, plus an additional 0-30% of that base value for Traits, meaning you can have a maximum of 78% of your max health.
  2. The change to having damage spill over to your health pool was indeed to resolve falling damage, but was also how Death Shroud was, from a Design standpoint, intended to function. Obviously making these changes simultaneously was to help decrease any sense of buff/nerf to the mechanic itself.
  3. Thirdly, we are testing a new way to reflect your Life Force energy pool in the UI using real-life numbers! .

So Bill, I’m not usually one to quote a red post but your 2nd point there kinda ticked me off a bit.

You are saying that damage was always meant to spill over to the health pool but you only got around to fixing it the other week.

If this is true I have to question any one of you that’s been involved with Necro balancing.

Let me try and paint you a picture by listing what we don’t and what we do have. Now I’m talking purely from a PvE standpoint here, I realize this might get dismissed completely since it would seem balancing is done around PvP. But let’s give it a shot anyway.

Imagine that you are doing a boss that can do a 50k hit and you want to survive this. This 50k hit is in addition to various other sources of damage the boss has.

What Necromancers doesn’t have
-Access to Vigor

Now all professions but the Necro has access to at least one of those and in the majority of cases more then just one.

What Necromancers used to have
2 dodges
A pseudo block in DS.

Where you could pop DS and survive that 50k hit and just deplete your life force, but we’d be alive, yay!.

What Necromancers have now
2 dodges

No longer can we rely on our one and only way it mitigating damage outside of dodging. So if you have no endurance left you are in essence screwed.

The only way to go about it now is to build for max life force gain and hope you can build a full bar of it before you need to pop it. (Goodluck condimancers…)

So, what have you achieved exactly, well:
-DS can no longer be used as an offensive tool because using your life force for anything but to mitigate damage is to commit suicide.

-Tying in with the above, Necros cleave damage was poor before, but even worse now since we can’t utilize piercing life blast as much anymore.

-You’ve reduced our build options, since you kinda have to go for max life force gain now. So either dagger/axe main hand and focus off hand. + you ideally have to go in to Soul Reaping for that extra bit of life force.

Is it really meant to be this bad/hard for Necromancers? I realize Necromancers have a bit of an SnM thing going on with all the self inflicting pain, conditions, life sacrifice etc but surely this is taking it one step too far?

A-net seems to be avoiding every post on this issue.

Maybe we’re not supposed to be able to run dungeons – that’s limited to Warriors, Guardians and Mesmers… can’t bust up the big 3 now.

This is utter stupidity.

Yeah, it sucks big time.

Nothing like waiting for ghastly claws to come off timer, then the guy you are tracking dodges the chain, then it’s back to that horrid auto attack.

Yeah, Mesmers are crazy… run in wreck things up and then stealth/blink away without a problem.

It’s pretty simple really, and I have seen it posted somewhere else. There are more people playing necro’s now and the spotlight is on you. Before it escaped scrutiny because there were relatively so few compared to other classes. I admit freely that after the change I wanted to revisit my necro, although for me it was mostly to check out the ds changes because that was what I originally wanted to play my necro as, a power DS build. Anyhow that was off topic, the point of all this is welcome to the spotlight!

While it is true that now the necromancer is more popular than ever, it is also true that it has the same weaknesses as it used to. For some reason, however, people now consider the necromancer overpowered in all kinds of specks, no matter whether they got buffed or not. I am mainly playing a powermancer, an the amount of people I encounter in-game that whine that I play an “Overpowered class with no counters” (lol) is mindbogling.

People seem to have lost their mind after the patch, and scream “nerf” for any kind of useful tool that the necro has. I will be sad to see the nerfbat being swung and hitting all necro specks because of mindless forum crying. The condipressure might be a bit high, but the rest of the builds are mediocre to good. Other than it, there are no exceptional must-have specks, and the necro is not a must-have class in tPvP, unlike the elementalist, guardian, the mesmer – often even the engie.

It remains to be seen if once this build is toned down necromancer will still be a desirable class for tPvP, but we really do not have any other competitive specks.

This thread shows how far the hysteria over the necromancer have gone, and this is why I made it – to point out the kinds of complaints people have about the class. Some of them are far from reasonable, which only serves to demonstrate how much the community is unwilling to put any effort into learning how to combat a necromancer.

I have been playing a power (Axe/Focus, Dagger/Warhorn) Necro for some time now… condition Necro really wasn’t my thing and I have enjoyed playing as a power Necro.

I wish the patch had never happened to be honest… i would rather be an underpowered class and not have to wait here fearing the nerf bat… look at what they did to Rangers last patch? the amount of complaining is ridiculous… it’s like power spec Necros are a figment of our imagination… they don’t actually exist.

Necros are in a good place now…

Maybe the burning should be re-considered, but aside from that i’m happy with their current state.

A-net need to change Ranger short bow range back to 1200.

Loving it – Deathshroud changes are fantastic… today in WvW i hit a guy for around 7.5K with Life Transfer (3 times) and he died… the end.

They need to release a hot fix now to change the Short bow range back to 1200 – it’s not a question. The change was completely unwarranted.

If the longbow is that bad, then fix the kitten longbow and don’t just nerf the short bow – i still can’t believe this happened.

The nerf was needed. The longbow does not need to be fixed. It is not that bad. The shortbow was OP and the range should not be changed back. The change was warranted for balance purposes.

When did you ever hear anyone complain about Rangers and their uber shortbows?…. that’s right never… because it was never a problem to begin with.

BM Bunker GS/S was causing all the issues… if anything the evades on the melee weapons were more deserving of a nerf than the shortbow.

Take Dhumfire away… merge greater marks with the skill reduction timer trait for staff – something that won’t cause OP and Necros have been asking for.
