First, Thieves die in 2-3 hits so hitting them thrice will kill them even while they are stealthed.

Not everyone plays a glass cannon thief.

Every patch seems to make this game more unplayable… people are invisible, the lag is unbearable… what the hell is happening at A-net?

They are 95% precise in their AI.

I would have to disagree with that (regarding the Flesh Golem only).

It’s better than it was before, but still need some serious work.

Life Siphon Build

I’m trying a new build which incorporates life siphoning traits in the Blood Magic line.

I’m using Axe and Focus because i’m not big on dagger. Staff will be the secondary weapon.

I had to go 30 in Spite for Axe training.. i miss out on Ground Target Wells which is really disappointing – i wish that was available in the 10 point section of Curses line.

Anyone tried a similar build before and if so, how much +healing did you put on with your gear? I’m trying to strike a balance between DPS & healing.

I’m enjoying it so far… had a brief run in WvW and seem to be quite tanky without properly setting up my gear.

Culling is worse now than before the fix… not sure A-net do any testing on changes – it may be worthwhile setting up a test server and allow people to test the changes pre-patch to determine the impact.

DAOC had this with the Pendragon server – it should be done!

Yeah, i bought all new exotic armour, weapons and jewellery to try out a power build… extremely disappointed with the results.

Axe is the worst weapon in the game.

Stacking Vulnerability is good for dungeon groups, but the lack of DPS is astonishing.

I find Necromancers, as a class, completely flawed. Rangers, in many ways, are too. Atleast rangers have real viability in wvw.

I think you have not played enough WvW or encountered many necros. Wells, marks, Plague, conditions, conditions transfer, even minions summoning, etc.. support not to mention an AOE channeling attack that isnt immobile AND can flush out thieves since no targeting is required.

All you’ve done there is list a bunch of skills… minions are rubbish by the way.

Necros are decent enough, they have good survivability, but after playing on my other 3 Level 80s in WvW, there is little desire to go back to the Necro.

I think condition damage as a whole needs to be looked at by the developers, because at present there are far too many ways to remove conditions in WvW. Direct damage is king in WvW. Fights are not long lasting affairs like dragon fights, they are typically over in under 1 minute.

Necro power builds (dagger/axe) are pretty kitten in WvW. Axe is particularly bad.

I would like A-Net to fix dungeon/boss AoEs killing pets/minions/illusions instantly.

Ranger is decent as well, could use some small buffs.

No class is terrible in this game.. certain classes are obviously better: Warrior/Guardian/Elementalist/Thief/Mesmer.. i think we’ll see what A-net have planned for the upcoming patch.

I’m hoping Necros get a decent power build to work with.

Necros are decent… i would like to see a better power weapon build available… just not too keen on Axe or Dagger.

My Mesmer/Thief are more effective at smashing skulls in WvW. The thief is pretty absurd…. easiest class to play.

I just use the Necro in PvE these days…

Yeah, these events are zerg fests most of the time…. if you rock up to one people will just invite you to group – just group up for the event then say goodbye and leave the group.

Half the time it’s impossible to hit the mobs. Playing in Australia and dealing with laaaag, some of the mobs are dead before they have even rendered. I have to set up attacks prior to the mobs spawning and hope i hit them.

Btw, don’t know what A-net did in the last patch, but the rendering bug is so much worse… it now drastically affects PvE (mobs & NPCs) whereas before it was just in WvW.

When you kill the risen chickens in CS and then the risen maggots spawn i’m nearly dead before i even see the maggots and the fields of AE poison i’m standing in.

It’s not.

Granted, there a bunch of different mission types and they all vary in difficulty. But given that this is guild content, we created some challenges that should hopefully require some decent coordination. And while the risen temple of Grenth is a fine example of very hard event, I think you’ll find that the guild content pressures you ways other than dealing lots of damage. A few missions haven’t even been completed by our internal testers yet (but they came extremely close).

Great, hopefully it has more interesting mechanics than covering the ground in red circles.

6 – 8 hours a day is not casual. I play 2 hours tops – that is casual.

My guild has dwindled as well, going from 25 members to 4 members… we have a 5th we ask to come along for dungeons just so we can actually take part in some end game content.

I agree with some of what you are saying… i’m certainly not bored. I would like a legendary and have tried saving, but the loadstones are just not coming… i have about 1 – 2 loadstones of each variety. Kind of pointless saving all my other mats for this weapon if i’m not going to be able to get a pre-cursor or loadstones.

A-net really need to address drops in this game and they need to remove DR. I just went through a whole HoTW path and got nothing but blue weapons and the obligatory tokens… not even a green weapon – seriously?

Disclaimer: I use “you” as a means of addressing the collective community, not specifically Avigrus. I’m just using his post to make a point (hopefully).

What then? Say you’ve got your Legendary. Now what? Are you going to enjoy the game any more once your weapon has flashy particle effects?

If the answer is “no”, then your pursuit of a Legendary is a waste of time; obtaining one won’t magically make the game interesting. If the answer is “yes”, then you’ve got a whole other set of problems that would probably be best addressed by finding something more fulfilling in real life into which you can pour your free time.

Post after post in thread after thread speaks to what a problem the task of obtaining a Legendary weapon is. I GUARANTEE that if they’re made easier to obtain, you’re going to have an equal number of posts and threads of how there’s nothing to do once you reach the level cap.

Short attention spans are short. If the only reason you log into the game is because you simply MUST have a weapon with particle effects, then save yourself the time and go ahead and quit now. Why delay the inevitable?

You’re just going to be bored again after catching that carrot? Or you’re going to complain about a lack of carrot until they give you another one to chase. Then you’re going to complain about how hard it is to catch the new carrot and about how much you hate grinding for gear. Repeat ad nauseum until the day you either quit, or you learn to enjoy video games for their gameplay and stop playing the ones featuring gameplay you don’t enjoy.

I’m not bored; I’m not grinding to chase a carrot; I don’t have a short attention span; I don’t play to have a weapon with particle effects.

I understand you’re using my post to make a point, but to clarify, very little of that applies to me.

I can confirm that Vets/Champs are the worst looting mobs in the game…. this should absolutely not be the case.

I can only assume that they don’t know how to fix the drops issue…?

Use on the Ranger; shortbows are much more effective on a ranger than a thief imo.

The thief shortbow DPS far exceeds that of the Ranger shortbow DPS – it’s actually laughable how noticeable it is – it’s why my ranger doesn’t get any WvW airtime any more.

I just take the thief out instead.

This DR system is absolutely ridiculous….

Dragons were stealth nerfed in the last patch… you want to know why people park at dragons and don’t do other things? Because of things like pre-cursors and lack of endgame content – you are punishing people for this…

Level difficult for Dungeons

Personally i like this idea.

I remember trying AC after game launch when my guild were all level 30 – we got smashed big time. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing i had ever attempted – as a level 30 dungeon (or 35, whatever), level 30s should be able to attempt it – it should be challenging, but they shouldn’t be wiped off the map by the Ascalonian Rangers.

So;

Personally, i think the “easy” mode should be made to suit lower level players & inexperienced players.

Normal mode should be what it is now, maybe a couple of bosses toned down a bit.

Hard mode should be something considerably more difficult, but i’m not sure what would work here – i’m not an elite player, so i wouldn’t use hard mode.

Champions and Veterans drops are garbage.

The “perceived” buff that was patched in to these mobs really shows what a low base they must have been coming off.

I have never had green or higher drop off a Champion (dragons/dungeons excluded obviously)

Twice today i have not received a chest, once on Shatterer with my Ranger, once on Tequartl with my Necro… nice to know i’m wasting my kittening time with this game.

No Chest at Dragon Kills

Just got no chest at Shatterer.

First event of the day on my Ranger, got a Gold Medal and no chest. It was already pathetic given the amount of garbage loot you receive… 5 blues and a green slot item? Really? Is that loot that you should expect to drop off a DRAGON?

Really starting to grow tired of these games.

Are they deliberately trying to tick people off by removing all loot?

Colin, maybe you can ask the folks that release the patch notes to provide some more information than this. This tells me nothing – i still don’t know what has officially happened to Orr loot drops.

I’ve had 1 exotic drop in 700 hours of play time, with 4 level 80s.

I’m not counting rewards for map completion here – I’m talking an actual drop.

Not cool.

The less drops there are, the less money people make, the more gems/gold is bought in the Gem store to make up for this – doesn’t take a genius to figure this out.

I’ve spent far more money on this game than i would have with a normal subscription game…

If you solo a lot in PvE, i’d go with the Necro.

If you group more often, chose either of the other two.

A way to improve axe damage

If they moved Axe Training out of Master, it would most certainly have to be toned down (Maybe +10% Damage and 20% Cooldown Reduction?). Having both Axe Training and Close To Death (in it’s current form) might put axe damage over the top. The #2 can already reach respectable damage with the right spec and gear.

The number 2 is nothing….

My Thief auto attacking puts my Necro throwing everything into an attack to shame. 2 x wells, 25 stacks of vlun, #2 Axe < Thief auto attack.

Subject Alpha without rez rushing

Funny story.. we beat Subject Alpha pre-patch with 4 ppl, but couldn’t do it after we added a 5th person… many many many rez-rushes that day.

Have not tried this dungeon since the patch… tbh i kind of hate this dungeon, fighting the same boss 45 gagillion times and dodge the red circles which are everywhere. Hit dodge to roll out of a red circle, only to roll straight into another red circle… doh.

Post patch Zhaitan: Beyond unacceptable

If it were up to me, the current Arah story path would be a solo story mission instead, ending with Zhaitan falling down into Arah, but not dead.

Then replace the Arah story path with a 5th explorable mode path (make it the hardest, most epic dungeon path in the game) that involves going back into Arah to finish off Zhaitan.

I have 3 level 80s i still need to finish my personal story on, but can’t be bothered getting a group together given the small size of our guild (5 people) and how rarely they all play.

Would be nice to be able to complete it in my own time.

Then again, i wish all dungeons had a solo option.

I would like to see the dungeons & JPs removed from the monthly.

I have a serious L2P issue with Jumping Puzzles….

I understand the whole not playing with people who suck, but at the same time I thought this game was about “team work” and “playing together” lol..

You can also play together with people who actually have brains.

Not everyone is part of a large guild and has access to those

My guild used to have 20 people, now it’s just 4 friends.

Don’t want to join another guild because these are my friends in real life, so we’re either 2/3/4 manning the dungeon or going in PUGs (which often suck).

New Dailies

Haven’t read through all of this, but are the dailies resetting sooner than the old dailies?

I remember being able to complete dailies over a couple of nights, now they seem to reset each night.

Just curious… will limit the number of dailies i can complete per week to 2.

Are necromancers viable in WvW?

Yes. Necro is viable.

It’s not a top tier class, but it’s great in these situations – keep defence, keep offence, hit and run group or hanging around the fringes of a zerg. If you’re going condition damage, you’ll love using epidemic against a zerg (until they all cure conditions on themselves).

Currently trying Axe spec with dual wells….. Axe could really use a damage buff to be honest. The vulnerability provided (even at 25 stacks) does not compensate for the terrible damage when compared with other power/burst classes. Not keen on daggers because warriors will /destroy at melee range.

Arena-net doesn’t want us to have high burst damage because we’re an attrition class, but the bunker Guardian/Ele out-attrition us and out-damage us as well.

Arena-net said that there are some classes with 5 or 6 different viable play style options – not the case with the Necro at present. I really hope they have a look at Axe and provide a bit of love.

Can’t they just put a hard dollar cap on the maximum amount you can list an item for?

Max, 500g for any item in the game? Just a thought.

My mates and i have been playing MMOs for years and we have difficulty with some of the harder dungeons (though we 4 manned Arah, with 2 drunk people :p)… i can only imagine what a new player would go through.

Why not same pet AI as Ranger???

I have a level 80 Ranger and Necromancer (among others)

The Ranger pet AI is light years ahead of the Necromancer minion AI – it’s not even close. Also, the Ranger pets have great damage/utilities etc… Raven’s blinding slash cuts glass cannon thieves in half.
