Wintersday interfering with living story?

If they do it like they did last year, Wintersday will be released mid December (following the 2 week schedule it would be Dec 16th) with a month break for the holidays and the living story picked back up in mid January (Jan 13 following the 2 week schedule). But with only one episode left in this season after Wintersday, it doesn’t make sense to make us wait a month for the last episode.

Where did you get that there’s only one more left?

I left out apart of my response out. It was supposed to be only one left after Wintersday. But, there could be more than episode 7 and 8.

Wintersday isn’t part of the season’s story arc. Episodes 7 and 8 would occur whether there was a Wintersday or not. They may add Wintersday with episode 8 but it’s not replacing anything.

Still, you’re making a kittenumption about the specific number of episodes in the season. Your tally wouldn’t even be enough episodes to get all the carapace armor skins out.

Look at the collection achievements and previous comments that there would be a break mid season which happened after 4 episodes.

Agreed and they were often very linear. There was no going in whatever direction you wanted to, you had to follow the “paths” as laid out in the map. Prophecies was was not as bad but it started getting worse and this was especially true with EotN maps.

Peace.

Yeah. Remove all of the textures and highlight just the walkable areas. You essentially have a bunch of rooms connected by various hallways. Only a few would be what I would consider open like GW2 maps.

Teragriff Fang Droprate Bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

The drop rate for the fang from the teragriff bosses during The Breach event may be bugged. Several players have reported that they’ve needed 16-32 attempts before they got it.

Based on the green extractors having a 100% of giving either a tendon or fang, and the white extractor has a 100% chance of a tendon, it’s probably safe to assume that getting a fang should have a 50% probability at least. While it is possible to go that many attempts without one, it does strike me as odd that it’s for that particular boss set.

Could a dev check the drop rate, and also related variables, to verify that everything is behaving correctly and like the other bosses?

Is anyone else having issues with getting fangs from these two bosses? I got mine from the freebies you get from doing the story so I can’t really give my experience.

16 tries and nothing but Tendons. RNG is not this lopsided. I have good luck, FIrst three fangs from red purple and blue in first day. 5 days since then, 16 attempts, no fang from Gold.
I understand they like the RNG and they think there is nothing wrong with it, but sometimes the extreme outliers are so blatant, yet they do not seem to believe that there may be a problem.

Which extractor are you using?

Not a tendon extractor.

Have you tried silver? Is anyone else having issues getting fangs from the teragriffs?

The one person from the first page had the same issue and took 32 attempts. Perhaps the drop rate for those two bosses is incorrect?

I created a report in the bug forum. I’d send an email but I’d likely get the standard “we’ll forward this on” response and I’d prefer any response to be available for everyone to see.

whoops :P my bad (edited the post)

Damask bolt was the one I was referring but there are others. I didn’t see the edit at the time I hit reply so you may have added it since then.

Another thing these recipes did was create value for the components. The time-gating affects the volatility of the prices over the day. They are often cheapest about an hour before reset and then jump up right after reset with fluctuations thought the rest of the day. The items you craft have the opposite affect as their value tends to at the lowest right after reset.

While each recipe is daily, the items you craft normally sell fairly quickly. There are other items that are not time gated and sell for profit; however, these tend to sell slowly and can be very fragile if too many items get put up to be sold too quickly. These provide an easy way for crafters to make an almost guaranteed profit. They just have to be careful when they put in their buy orders for ingredients and when they to the sell orders for the final result.

Are crafters going to get rich quick? No. But these did provide a way for crafters to make a little gold off most of the recipes and also allow people (such as those leveling) to sell the components and make a little more gold than before.

And not one fang . . . all tendons and the like.

Newest ones don’t work. Those are for tendons only as the item name suggests. You have to use the green ones.

You didn’t kill them quick enough most likely.

From the wiki:

Dashed Advantage

For this achievement, you need to access a hidden area during the final fight. Since you need sun aspects for it, you have to bring Aerin down to 50% of health so he activates his protection and sun aspects appear. Then, pick up an air aspect and jump up in the north-eastern area, where the sand is coming down. Follow-up the path, pick up the sun aspect and dash through the wall. There, a golem and a few more inquest are waiting. You have to kill the golem quickly before it reaches the safe area behind the protective wall, and then kill the rest of the inquest (not the Veteran Inquest Assassin though) to get the achievement.

I’m wondering if the order you attempt the fangs makes a difference. My plan was to go counterclockwise for each Breach in order to keep track of which one I still needed. Worked great at Red, I got a fang. Next I went to Amber, applied a fresh new extractor — and got a tendon. (Note: TENDON not TENDOM).

Most likely it’s just RNG is RNG, but could those who got loads of fangs say what order they did the forts, if they remember?

It shouldn’t matter as the drop rates are independent of each other.

The previous update really was no different. All we learned was that the Pact & Friends were in SW and that the Master of Peace had an egg.

We learned a lot last patch.

Belinda was a ghost terrorizing Fort Salma.

Belinda’s ghost is now infused into Belinda’s blade which Marjory now wields.

When an Elder Dragon dies and leaks magic into the world, there is an imbalance and another dragon will take its place. Tequatl became stronger because of this.

The deep sea dragon’s name starts with an S.

Zhaitan is indeed dead, thanks to part of him hanging in the Hidden Arcana.

The master of peace was indeed holding an egg.

The pact was making a base in the Silverwastes.

Destiny’s Edge 1.0 would also be assisting in the fight against Mordremoth.

We found the nesting area of the mordrem.

The apostate from GW1 wrote that God’s are not eternal, their power cannot be destroyed but passed on, much like how Elder Dragon’s work.

The 6 orb mechanism we saw in the eternal alchemy has a name that was given by the Apostate from GW1 called the Antikytheria.

That’s about all I can think of for right now without going back and replaying the episode.

Really? You’re going to list every small thing? One could do the same for this patch. What you’re doing is no different than what car dealerships do with car features by listing everything they can possibly list to make it seem like buyers are getting a lot.

Besides, your post was about the story and made no mention of release content.

Then do it, you’d be hard pressed to come up with a bigger list story wise.

Sure. I’ll create a list just like you did in the same style.

Also, a some of what you listed we already knew BEFORE that update.

EDIT:

And here’s my list done the same way as yours.

  • Destiny’s Edge 1.0 are in Silverwastes
  • They did not know Glint had an egg.
  • Taimi is learning about heat ratios and metal densities from the Charr.
  • Taimi is on her way back to Rata Sum.
  • Caithe is acting weird and following the Boss (the player).
  • Canach knows about the dragon egg and thinks it should be destroyed.
  • There’s been no change in the Pale Tree’s condition.
  • Master of Sun died with the other two Masters going back to camp.
  • Master of Peace dies.
  • Caithe steals the egg and runs off saying there’s no time to explain.
  • Everyone is going to meet up in the Grove.

See, I can be ridiculous and name the smallest and minute details revealed too. The quantity of random bits of information does not matter. We’re talking about the overall progression of the story.

But let’s address your list.

Belinda was a ghost terrorizing Fort Salma.

We knew this the patch right after whichever episode it was that she died.

Belinda’s ghost is now infused into Belinda’s blade which Marjory now wields.

Ok.

When an Elder Dragon dies and leaks magic into the world, there is an imbalance and another dragon will take its place. Tequatl became stronger because of this.

Speculation on both.

The deep sea dragon’s name starts with an S.

And it may not.

Zhaitan is indeed dead, thanks to part of him hanging in the Hidden Arcana.

We already knew this after completing the personal story. That could also be the part of his tail that got shot off during the battle. He was still alive after that…

The master of peace was indeed holding an egg.

The pact was making a base in the Silverwastes.

Destiny’s Edge 1.0 would also be assisting in the fight against Mordremoth.

Ok

We found the nesting area of the mordrem.

Speculation.

Do you need to get all three pieces from the vendor? I must have missed a bug-fix or something then because I am 100% certain that I got one of them from completing the main story achievement.

It is also fully possible to get the other two from the Greater Nightmare chest in the Labyrinth, so no, you don’t HAVE to gather 3000 (or even 2000) in order to get the piece.

It’s also possible to get a precursor as a drop so you don’t have to farm for it. It’s also possible to get an ascended chest as a drop so you don’t need to farm ingredients and level crafting.

The drop rate for the carapace armor chest is very low. The majority of people would have twice the needed chests before they saw one if at all.

When did I stay I stuck to one fort? I said I stick around to finish events, unlike you. I do so, so that I don’t feel like I’m leeching and can actually help ensure the events complete. Because the few times I did try the run around and leech tactic, I was noticing stuff was failing. Caravans weren’t making it, forts were being lost.. mainly due to people just running around and trying to tag all the things!

The NPC was always fine when I left.

And after? Oh, you wouldn’t know. :P

The slingers are the ones that you want to kill right away as they do a lot of damage just look at what they do to walls and players with their attacks. A group is far more likely to succeed if they kill them than if they don’t. The majority of the time that I went to kill them, it was just me.

Thanks but I already realise this. I kill stuff outside, stay around to help finish the event and move in to help inside if mobs are assailing the NPC. Again, I stay around and help all around the fort, then move where I please.

There’s always been enough people and an event hasn’t failed yet. It would be a waste to go through the effort to get credit only for the event to fail causing a reduction in rewards.

Assuming I did the math correctly, using the general purpose extractor and then trading in the tendons nets a profit of 13 crests. If that is true I would always use an extractor if you make it to the breach, even if you have all 4 fangs.

Tendons give like 12 while fangs give 25.

Has the crests for tendons exchange been lowered? According to wiki it was/is 25 crests per tendon. If it has been lowered to 12 then it costs 80 copper per failed attempt at a fang.

It may be 15 and not 12 but it has been lowered for the tendons. The value you get is what you would have gotten from the second option that we noticed the last update that didn’t make much sense at the time. The last update, tendons were the first option but now it is the fangs.

The guy sometimes specifically looks for tendons, then you get 25 crests for them, and sometimes he’s looking for fangs, then you get 25 for those. I haven’t figured out yet, if there is a specific timer to this, or if it’s just random, but he definitely switched between those 2. And you always get 15 crests for the parts he isn’t currently looking for.

EDIT: or maybe I exchanged my tendons on the first day of the LS patch and they simply changed it…? To be honest I can’t remember, I’m getting old

I don’t know either. I just saw him offer 15 crests for my fangs.

Edit: It may be tied to his location. He offered me 25 for my fangs when he was in the camp. This is where I remember him offering me the same thing from yesterday.

As of this posting, Deldrimor is currently at +15s, Spiritwood is at +33s, Elonian Leather is at -20s. They bounce between -30s and +50s. That is not something you want to be making, especially every day. If it is, I can give you a list of 400 or so crafted things that give more profit than that and you can make as many as you want.
What’s the point of time-gating a craft that has been around for 1.5 years that doesn’t give a profit when sold? Supply has already equaled demand. Opening the gate would not create more supply.

alright, so that explains why it was there when introduced… does not explain why it’s still there 1.5 years later.

So them trying to create an avenue for crafters to make a little gold becomes less relevant as time passes? Or the desire to have some items that had no value to now have value diminishes over time? The reasons for the time gating appear to have been made for the long term suggesting that their reasoning doesn’t finish over time as it would have had this been meant to only be temporary.

You’re spending the same amount of time doing events to support the map towards the same goal of reach The Breach event.

Except I actually stay around to make sure they succeed before moving on to another. A very large difference.

I will also point out that I always at least killed a wave of the husk slingers (normally 3) before I left.

Oh wow.. and that totally helped with all the mobs pwning the NPC in the middle after you left.

Except I would never have been to the event in the first place if I stuck to just one fort so whether the others succeeded or not is irrelevant. If they were struggling with keeping the NPC alive, I have stayed. However, most of the time this has not been an issue.

The NPC was always fine when I left. The slingers are the ones that you want to kill right away as they do a lot of damage just look at what they do to walls and players with their attacks. A group is far more likely to succeed if they kill them than if they don’t. The majority of the time that I went to kill them, it was just me.

If you think PVP is what needs updating...

The PvP players have been ignored for most of the past two years except to get media attention with tournaments. They deserve to have new content.

Next Patch is for PvP only?

It’s not the same team that did the PvP feature that did the LS content. There’s no reason to expect another gap between now and the end of the current season.
