so, if I understand this correctly:
ANet finally gives us something rewarding which is also finally a decent way of making some gold by actually playing the game, but there are still people like OP who would rather have no rewards and farm same old dungeons for gold 24/7?

There have been good farms in this game. It’s that this one would have a negative impact in the long term if it’s not fixed.

“have been” is the key phrase there, and they are all essentially gone. Either completely removed, temporary to begin with, or nerfed into non-existence.

Any decent farm at its onset would be classified as ‘having long term repercussions,’ we’ve heard it many times before. Things do have a way of balancing themselves out without needing to be nerfed into oblivion though. The economy will stabilize. It has before.

I wasn’t necessarily using it in the past tense as if they no longer exist. As far as ai’m aware FGS champ farm, karka farm, and Orr farm haven’t changed.

As far as the OP, torches are primarily condition weapons. I’d say that they could go ahead and add them as main hand. It doesn’t hurt to have more options. Although it adds more work to create and balance those new skills.

I spend a few hours Bandit Chest farming and from the chest I get Empy fragments, Dragonite Ore and Bloodstone and emblazoned bags. Occasionally I get a Twister in a Jar or other exotic. Out of 100 keys I used, I got one generic exotic staff, 2 Arc, and 14 Twisters.
I’m not getting rich on Bandit Chests… and I do the events. Nobody gets Blue or Red to the point of Breech when I was playing.

There’s a lot more that you’re not thinking of. You can throw the twisters into the forge for other exotics. You can salvage weapons and armor for crafting mats. Not to mention all of the tier 5/6 fine mats.

Farming EotM can get you quite a large amount of badges and karma very quickly. Ascended gear are top tier and not mandatory except for high level fractals.

I don’t see anything wrong with the current prices. I’ve crafted several weapons and a couple sets with plans to make more.

Adding more ways will drop the prices for ascended considerably. You underestimate how easy it is to get a lot of those other currencies as well as how many have a lot just collecting dust.

Look… Most of us have enjoyed it but I also believe that most of us recognize that it is also crazy.

Or maybe I’m putting too much faith in the GW2 community in that belief.

No. The rewards are greater than most other farms to date and this includes the exploitable ones. This should be reduced and yes, I’ve been doing this too.

I like the irony of your question: a great example being the exact thing you claim it would fix. Crafting legendaries

I don’t see how, considering we’re talking about making the expensive bit less expensive, and most of the other ingredients cannot be purchased on the TP anyways. Even if it became impossible to buy T6 mats on the TP, it would still be easier to farm for those than to get a high-end Precursor at current prices.

Most? Perhaps you should look at the actual items that you need before making that claim and using it as an argument.

Just killed it maybe 30 min ago.

The best thing you can do if put up a LFG stating that you need it and hope someone joins on you to ferry you over. I did this for a bunch of people as it spawned on my map and I had seen their LFG.

Another thing you can do is form a group and spread yourselves across multiple servers. This will increase the odds of being on a map when it spawns.

You don’t need all four forts claimed. We had the Exterminator or whichever the amber one is spawn twice within 5 minutes and all we had was amber.

If they removed the crests from the chests then the farm would die. It’ a bit ridiculous that you can resupply crests that you spent on keys from the chests. I’ve actually been slowly gaining excess crests as I do the random events by amber.

I am against your idea that precursors should be made so very widely available that it causes the prices to fall to the 250G level and if the economy fails as a result then kitten it.

While that might be like the word of god to you, it doesn’t necessarily mean that to everyone. To some it’s just his opinion, just like you have yours and I have mine.

Yup. I am in no way shocked that the game’s resident economist believes that the economy is a vital aspect of the game, but I firmly disagree with him and will never have any respect for players that make their fortunes through the TP.

Perhaps it is impossible for us to convince John Smith to make Precursors more available, but the decision isn’t likely his to make, it would be made by someone higher up the design hierarchy, and it would only be his job to make that decision work within the economy as best he’s able.

You suggested Anet should allow for disorder in the market and that players would just ride out any chaos that ensues in the market from increasing precursors and mats to appease their desire for legendaries. That is completely out of line with changes Anet have made in the game and market stability. Implying it’s not is just foolish.

As I noted, they’ve done it before when introducing things like account bound dyes and ascended crafting. Properly implemented, nothing I’ve suggested would have any more impact on the market than those moves. You guys refuse to accept that there is a middleground here, and insist on positing a scenario in which the precursor adjustment would be made completely in a vacuum, without any other counterbalancing changes to minimize the market impacts. The markets would be different afterwards, some things would go up a bit, some would go down, but I don’t think that overall they would be any worse than what we’ve got.

I’m not against a middle ground. I am against your idea that precursors should be made so very widely available that it causes the prices to fall to the 250G level and if the economy fails as a result then kitten it. I’m more than willing to sit with Phys and Essence to find some idea we could compromise on. Of course it would ultimately be up to Anet.

Still, it’s a relatively easy achievement, unless you are a guardian. Don’t do that on a guardian. Aegis from Virtue of Courage unfortunately does count against the achievement.

Kudos to Anet for not thinking that one through terribly well :P

I did it incredibly easily on guardian. It requires you to remove the buff and make sure not to go to a vortex if the buff is about to come back. Not difficult.

I’m about to start this chapter with my guardian. How can I remove one month, two weeks and 5 days of aegis?

What I did was continuously use F3 and then intentionally get hit to remove Aegis.

Hot join matches are easy to win if you can get a large enough gap at the start of the match. I usually do this when I care to win.

Surely, by that logic it’s pointless to capture anything because someone could just come along and take it back.

There’s a difference though. Yak’s carry supply. If they can be revived then killing them doesn’t really matter as someone can just revive it after you leave.

Also, when you take camps/towers/keeps, you cut off those points from them and cause them to lose all current upgrades.

The trading post, as well as trading on it, are part of the game. Someone who plays on the trading post is not playing the game less than someone who doesn’t just as a PvP player isn’t playing the game less than a PvE player. They’re just different aspects of the same game.

End boss fight is really frustrating

The only problem I had with this fight was that 75% of the time the bubbles that make you fragile that you transfer to the Vortex Crystals spawned in the middle of those AoEs that one-shot you. As a result this so-called fight took a helluva lot longer to do than it should have.

Other than that, it wasn’t too tough.

If you stand in one place then the boss just spits those fields in front of you along with the bubble you need. The best way to get around this is to keep moving.

The vortex does the absorb skill at set intervals. That’s why it seems like you sometimes have to wait for seconds.

Those seraph had HP just slightly above that of a veteran. If you had issues killing them, keep in mind that you only needed to kill the first two and could run past the rest.

Those are literally the same thing, all you did was switch second for time, which both have the same units. DPS refers to how much damage you do on average, every second.

This works out to about:
12,000 damage every second for a zerker character
8000 damage every second for a condition character
6000 damage every second for a clerics character

Full DPS just refers to the maximum amount of damage someone can do based on the gear they are wearing, which roughly corresponds to the number above.

Yep and how exactly is condition damage on par with direct damage? Perhaps I should have led with that. I can wear tank gear and claim to be full DPS. When I see full DPS, I see it has the maximum DPS that your class can do which is normally direct damage.

End boss fight is really frustrating

Each miniboss in the dungeon is there to teach you a part of the mechanic of the final boss fight: Facet of Strength teaches you the tells to his melee attacks (even though he never actually uses that pull), Facet of Light teaches you how to get into the colored light pillars, and Facet of Darkness teaches you how to destroy the vortex (and hurt the boss). The only really difficult thing about the last boss is the vortex are sometimes hard to spot when they spawn, which leaves you running around like a headless chicken for a few seconds.

How did you manage to beat the first three minibosses without recognizing their mechanics in the last boss?

And the mechanics for the minibosses are learned on the way to them through the mini challenges.

Some of the achievements are also character based and not team based. If you transfer your boons then you fail but not the others trying for it. You could also have missed out on the facet of darkness one because you didn’t participate in the fight as far as credit goes such as destroying one of the vortexes. I don’t know for sure as I wasn’t there.

I’ve killed it 7+ times and have never ran into an issue where my color buff was rejected by the same color barrier around the vortex. However, there have been times where I have slacked and a second facet has spawned with a different color and the barrier has also changed.

Are you sure that you have the correct color buff and the barrier around the vortex matches that color? Did you still have the color buff when you reached the vortex as it does wear off.

When you say “first one” do you mean the achievement for completing the episode?

You have to complete the story first to be able to get credit for the achievements. You also must do the achievements on a character that completed the story.

All of the new content is solo friendly except for what’s clearly group content. Every mob type had weaknesses or a tactic to use to kill it. Many people have complained about the hounds when it’s pretty obvious when they’re about to pounce.

As far as the story instances since the beginning of the season until now, everything still is soloable including the achievements.

You mined them before or after you completed the current episode? I’m asking because you need to complete the entire episode first in order to do the achievements. This issue came up recently with someone else which is why I’m asking.

it gave a much larger impact than you realize. I believe JS mentioned it at somepoint in passing, but you apparently dont believe me. As i said, i know very clearly that a decent amount of high traffic items basically have their main value tied to the production of precursors. However, just because production is tied to X, doesnt mean changes in the market would crash the entire market. It fully depends on how, and what is executed.

I was not referring to precursors but legendary weapons.

Ascended weapons. The core ingredients are ore and logs. Before ascended weapons, these items had relatively no value. People used them to level their crafts and maybe the random items here and there. There really was no other use for them. Ascended weapons gave those items a purpose and created value.

Ascended armor. The core ingredients being ore, leather, and cloth. Leather still has no real value other that the T4. On November 4th 2013, linen scraps were selling for about 80 copper. They had no real demand and were worth very little. Silk sold at vendor price.

Tier 5+ ore and logs did have some value initially. They were both used to forge precursors and tier 6 were used for exotic crafting. There wasn’t much else to be honest.

Ascended weapons/armors gave value to items that had relatively no value to begin with. Increasing precursors rates would cause an increase in demand for all of the items used for making legendary weapons causing those prices to rise. These items already have value and you’re now increasing it putting them more out of reach from players. One of the differences, as you can see, is the starting value before the change. They are not the same.

Also, if it is true that precursors drive the entire economy (which may be the case) thats a major flaw in the economy. It essentially means that many prices are set based upon something that only a very small portion of the population makes use of. It means they need other driving forces within the game.

It’s not the precursors that drive the economy but the drive for legendary weapons. A lot of items go into creating a legendary which creates a value for said items. Without legendary weapons, the demand for T6 materials would be almost nonexistent. It would still have uses but the supply would quickly surpass the demand for it.

Legendary weapons give value to the items used to create it. What do you think the economy would be like if these items had no value? Would champ farming be worth it? A lot of players would find it difficult to make gold as the only reliable source would be those methods which produce gold directly (e.g. dungeons).

As for you saying i want 250 gold precursors, i never said that. In fact im not really looking to put a direct price on precursors. More so, i would give methods of obtaining it that are based on finite amounts of effort (random is always potentially infinite). After this, the price for precursors would represent the effort/skill/knowledge whatevers value to produce. I would also make randomly obtained precursors in the field come from precursor boxes (that allow you to select precursors) Annd i would make precursors generated from putting random exotics in the forge instead give an account bound token that could be used with laurels and the precursor knock off exotic (like usoku needle) to create the precursor.
This would essentially normalize the value of all precursors. the cheap precursors would cease to exist, but the hyper expensive ones would begin to go down as well. The overall demand of precursors would not change, but the supply would be 100% player controlled.

By combining supply created 100% by choice, and creating a finite path (even if its time consuming/difficult) I think you will create a healtheir precursor market. Players will gladly give their money knowing what they are paying for, or do it themselves, and precursor markets will be more based on how the players value their time, rather than straight up gambling (though gambling will still be an option!)

To be honest, I don’t know why I stated that you said that. It was late so either I, for some reason, lumped you with him or thought I was replying to him. In any case, disregard it being directed at you as it is clear that you don’t have that same mindset.

As far as you wanting a more reliable method that you can visibly see progress in, I agree with that. However great care does need to be taken when implementing such a system whatever it may be.

I had the same frustrating experience with the Hidden Arcane. I am not sure if the first three bosses worked as they should be but the last one definitely did not. Several times I had all crystals spawn inside deadly AoE and the last 25% of the boss I had shields but no crystals. The crystals were probably in the wall. Marjory, my pet and me managed to kill it in the end, but this story part took me 2 hours. No fun!

The carapace you have to choose. It was a bit obvious that all 3 lumis would unlock, since you can only do the achievement once, and making people do 18 collections is a bit much.

You’d be surprised by the number of people who didn’t reach that conclusion.
