Feedback is a situational utility skill that you can use. Just because it happens to do considerable amounts of damage on one particular boss does not mean Mesmer is the strongest PvE class.
The problem is that you have data on two data centers and its difficult to keep both current. Transferring it back and forth is not as simple as you may think. It’s not like moving a file from one folder on your computer to another. There’s more to it.
I don’t think anyone’s been banned for taking part, we’d know about it on here by now if they had! But they do have the right to fix something like that because it does sound like a bug or a way to cheat the system as such. It’s their fault that it exists though so they can’t ban people for their mistakes or at least shouldn’t, but it honestly doesn’t look like they have banned anyone.
I disagree with the bolded part of your post.
Let’s say the devs accidentally had an event that involved recipes and the mystic forge. It was revealed that there was a certain way you could basically create gold. Based on your comment, people are free to exploit that and should not be banned since it was the devs’ fault for not foreseeing this.
Another example is that players find a way to go under the maps in dungeons and get to the final boss within 30 seconds. So the players should not be at fault for continually doing this?
While the devs to share some blame in exploit existing (a lot are unforeseeable or difficult to find due to time/resource constraints), players who choose to abuse these are much much more to blame.
It wasn’t an exploit as you just chose not to finikitten. You didn’t do any glitches to prevent the event from completing. Just an oversight on their part as they didn’t consider it. It took like 7 months before people started farming it (in masses) after all.
You can just search the forums since there were numerous threads about it. Basically you do the Lyssa meta until you go up to the upper platform where you have the three locations secure to remove the barrier around her. The north area with the wp had these barricades you had to destroy to progress the event. If you didn’t destroy them, risen would keep respawning.
If both data centers have to communicate, you run the risk of both getting bogged down due to latency. Bandwidth plays a big role. If people were to freely guest, the amount of data going back and forth could slow everyone down. Having an individual connect to a server in another database directly, rather than indirectly through a local data center, usually only has an impact on that user.
I’m not entirely familiar with networks and the like but this is my general impression based on what I know and have read over the years. I’m sure there’s at least a few people on the forums that can give a better explanation.
With the sheer amount of data getting uploaded and downloaded to/from GW servers every single minute, I still don’t see how one character’s data upon guesting (which as we all know is limited to 2 servers a day) would even leave as much as a dent. It’s not like the data has to ping-pong between original and guest server during playing. It would be transferred when guesting starts and transferred back when the player signs on the original server after.
Some actual numbers would be nice…So far, to me, it still sounds like “we don’t allow this for… reasons.”
One person won’t have much of an impact. You’re forgetting the bandwidth of the connection between data servers across the ocean. If there’s bandwidth issues, and the connection usage is high, you run the risk of losing packets. For a game like this, that’s normally not a good thing.
There’s more to it than I’m letting on.

Different data centers is the reason.
Oh is that what that zergs are doing? I had to do a double-take when I first saw one. I thought I was back in WvW.
I don’t see an issue with someone getting downed. It’s the frequency that would bother me.
Oh. I just always saw that event up so assumed that was why. They likely will not add the wp until they add more to the map. After the 4th, the map will be dead again.
Depends on what class you are as well. If you have a ton of reflects then the karka are very easy and quick to kill. Skelk and everything underwater should be easy to kill. The only thing I see being difficult are the drakes if you fight more than one at a time.
Most wont kick you but having more than one of those classes in a group hurts DPS and will result in a longer run.
The WP by the ship in the NE corner is contested and I always see the instigator event up there.
Normally if there’s an event, I’m assuming the riot instigator, the wp will be contested. Having the wp will not do you any good.
Ayrilana, that’s how it works on most countries that use the Civil Law legal system (I’m talking about the Romano-Germanic legal system, not about the English non-criminal law). Again, I shouldn’t have used that to talk about slavery since I realize it is different for countries like the USA, which uses the Common Law legal system. I was just justifying why I got so upset about what’s happening to the settlers, nothing else, and again I’m sorry for not thinking it through
It’s all good. I didn’t mean to put you on the defensive.
If you sign a contract, you abide by it until the terms are met. Everyone has a choice and they certainly were not forced to go to Southsun Cove. I don’t know which country was stated that you can nullify a contract if the individual signed under desperate need but it’s certainly not a law that exists in the U.S.
In any case, this is just a game. Just relax and have fun!
Tooltip is clear. People are just not understanding what they are reading. That’s all. How does last player standing translate to last player holding at end of match? It doesn’t.
You likely have a few people that think it does, they then go around saying that’s how it is done, and everyone else believing them.
In the States “last one standing” is a figure of speech used, sort of hyperbolically, to describe the winner of a competition.
There are catchphrases/sayings and then there are simple statements. The tooltip flat out said last person standing. There is already an achievement for being the winner ao logic suggests that crabtacular is for something else.
One person likely did not get killed. There will probably be a nerf to that achievement on Tuesday to make it easier to get.
I’ve PUGd 350+ dungeons, 30 FOTM, rank 23 wvw, 1765+ hours on ranger, and through all of that I’ve been accepted in nearly every group. Rangers actually do a ton of damage, just, popular players like Strife are admittedly scared of playing a more challenging profession. They won’t even test it to see if it decreases their run times.
Or you’ve never played other classes to see how much their damage is.
Playing a profession—which is the correct term— (you’d think a pro like you would know the difference between armor class and profession) doesn’t mean you know how to excel with it. Just because you roll a warrior, craft it up to 80, and slot some exos with ruby orbs doesn’t mean you’re pro. It means you’re just like everyone else, I’m afraid.
Actually I think he was talking about the damage output of two people who are equally proficient at playing their respective professions. It seems to me that you are avoiding the facts behind Ayrilana’s painfully simple sentence. Skill is not equal to magic, I’m afraid.
You are correct. My statement was actually addressing two points, one of which you mentioned. Perhaps I should’ve spent a little more time to elaborate my points.
My other point was that Chopps main is obviously ranger. He made a statement that Strife was afraid of trying out ranger and testing it out. He also said you needed to play a “profession” (class and profession are synonymous in the RPG genre FYI) for an X amount of time in able to be skilled in it.
How can he make a claim against warrior and other classes when he’s not skilled at them by his own definition yet accuse others about making a claim against archers when they are not skilled according to his definition? Sorry Chopps but it goes both ways.
To simplify: he’s being hypocritical.
I should also add that the first person to make a claim is normally the one to present facts to defend it. Chopps made the first claim that ranger damage was awesome and was called out. The one that called him out is not required to make the initial submission of proof.

What makes you think they are to be enemies?
The events are evenly distributed.
I should clarify my statement as my response was a little to simple.
A guild should only be allowed to receive credit for one guild rush per guild rush activated through the guild window. What I mean by this is that a guild can’t use overflows to infinitely create guild rushes to rack up merits.
The current system’s safeguards were working as intended. The guild started the guild rush on one overflow and that’s the timer used to determine the results/rewards of the event. When the timer for the rush started first ended, no rewards were awarded from that point on to the other started rush.
What I suggest that Anet do is to link the timer on all overflows. They obviously share the same timer internally so why not graphically show it and end any rushes started after the first one when the first one ends. In order to deal with the tiny overflow problem, just share the results of all open guild rushes activated by the guild across overflow servers.
Mesmer having decent dps? You consider extremely weak autoattacks and instant-death illusions are stong damage? I believe a GS warrior only using Hundret Blades (no autoattacks or other skills) will do more damage than a mesmer.
He said decent dps, not best or high dps.
I guess there are those people that don’t understand how the 3 warrior / 1 guardian / 1 Mesmer type group came about. People didn’t arbitrarily pick those and just go with it. They tested all of the classes with the various builds and found this works the best.

No. Per patch notes, you have until sometime on the 4th.
Thanks for the suggestion but I’m against nerfing a class to make others better.
Well you can get into a “full” map so I’m not surprised you can get onto a “full” server. It’s likely an arbitrary limit to prevent mass amount of people from freely going to a specific server and overloading it. For all we know, the full designation pops when a server is at 80% capacity.
A lot of them on average can drop loot worth more than the bag. Heavy Moldy bags can drop tier 6 materials which sell for 20+ silver.
As stated by another person, a 10% boost in overall stat points compared to exotics doesn’t mean a 10% boost in your character.
Suppose you get 50 more vitality with as ended over exotics. This may actually come out to 1% increase in your overall stats. These 50 counts only give you 500 more health which really won’t be noticeable.
I’ll do an actual comparison later.
I’ve been having this idea for quite a while now and thought upon expanding it.
There are 4 groups of 5 people that fight off waves of enemies before proceeding through gates. Also have a few mini bosses in between for each group and randomly a player of every group gets teleported to a different group with a few debuffs or so. After a few kills they go back to theyr original group (lets say 5).
When all groups gather at the middle, there is a big tank from the molten alliance that fires the weapons that they had in the testing facility first boss fight. You will have to aim for certain targets but watch out for flame throwers that come out of the side sometimes. Every group gets 2 objectives to destroy which they get randomly, and after every group takes down 1 part the steam engine of the tank, it overheats and exposes its core for the groups to damage together.
When the tank has 3/4 of its health left, it will enrage and increase its firing rate. A few dredge engineers come out attempting to repair the vehicle. Two groups will have to fend off the dredge while the other two groups take down the parts assigned to them. When they are done they switch places.
After that, another fight with the core with half of its health left; it’s about to get real.
The tank enrages and will let veterans out, who were controlling the tank on the inside, while the so called ’’boss’’ is yelling at them to calm down and sit back in their places. They ignore this and fight the teams. When 5 veterans are taken out the thumper shockwave will stop working (announced by the boss controlling the tank). When another 5 get taken out the tank will stop the fire tornado’s that do knockback (also announced). Finally when the tank gets destroyed, the boss stands in the middle and in a cutscene will beg for mercy. Then every group’s member launches 1 attack on the boss finally killing him.
dungeon over!Any suggestions or things to add are welcome.
Edited a bit. No offense meant to the OP but it was difficult to read. The title is misleading as it seems you’re suggesting a new boss battle.
There’s lag on Blackgate just like every other server.
You can buy ori mining axes for 350 karma. This is just a response to your unlimited mining pick example.
In regards to the gold->gem cost, yes it does seem a little high. I personally feel it should be around 50 gems. I’m pretty sure it’s an item that’s in low demand so lowering the cost may increase demand for it. Not many people need to craft immediately.
The problem with Ele is that they are so squishy when full berserker. This is one of the disparities between heavy and light classes. Heavy classes generally have more survivability. I’ve seen videos of Ele’s that use hammer and they’re not comparable to warriors. Yes that’s probably the “best” build for an Ele in organized dungeon runs but it’s not the best overall.
The same is likely for fire elemental too. There’s the event to destroy those chaos crystals. Once this is done, the npc moves in to place and you can talk to her to initiate the fire elemental meta event.
The same is likely true for the boss at Harathi Highlands. There’s a chain that must be completed. If no key does this then the boss need spawns.
It could be that whoever does the gw2stuff site needs to include the timers for these events. They’re likely basing their their timers on an event further in the sequence. Like basing the timer for Claw of Jormag on when he lands instead of when the crystals drop.
I believe max burst damage is warrior doing the gs + axe/mace combo. Highest DoT would be to auto attack with axe.
While thief may be comparable to warrior, they lack survivability if they do so.
Oh that’s sweet!
Edit: Though Golem mk2 doesn’t have a timer? Probably going to stick with gw2 temple until it’s gw2stuff is complete, temple is very rarely wrong anyhow.
It has an event that must be completed first with the pods. This event is not considered part of the boss event although it is a prerequisite.
This is where dragon timers will still be useful until someone figures out to include the timers for the prerequisite meta event chain.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
Also, crusher/hunter can be solo’d.
Guys could you help me out here. I don understand why Golem Mark II, Modniir Ulgoth, FE and Taidha Covington has no count down timer on the bottom left(black tabs with white fonts). But it randomly pops up on the top left(yellow tabs with black fonts). Are they accurate?
I’m on Crystal Desert Server
Some bosses are at the end of a meta event that must be activated first and completed. The Fire Shaman is a good example. There’s a meta event you must do before his starts.
People must fight them regularly? Oh noes! I disagree with them being at their hardest point in the game’s history. They haven’t changed. Just the exploit was removed.
They won’t increase it because they both are still incredibly easy to kill. Use reflects and/or keep them separated as you burn one down. The crusher’s attacks are laughingly easy to avoid.
It costs at most 5 silver to port to a town to use the crafting station there. Anyone who buys these are not doing it for cost savings but for convenience.
Oh. They didn’t mention that in patch notes.
Everyone using http://v2.gw2stuff.com/ now unless whoever does the dragon timer site quickly updates to the new API.
Replicate what he does
Read the patch notes. You have until June 4th. I’d start now.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
Write the timers down at reset. This is usually around when they get trolled. If they get trolled then at least you have a decent estimate on the spawn.
Solo version will likely have no loot. You complete it and get your achievement. The group version is the one you do for loot.
Yes this thread should not exist but it needs to. So many people don’t check the patch notes to see when content ends.
Just to clarify to those that see this thread, you have until June 4th to complete all achievements. Plan your schedules now so you don’t miss out for whatever reason. Do the karka tossing game now as some of the achievements takes some time to get.
