Mind blown on that GM response. Really.
Why stop there? Any guild could just kill Mai, sub out 4 teammates, invite 4 anons (for modest gold fee of course), finish off Horrik for completion. Profit.
Someone already is on gw2lfg
Sometimes groups are unable to finish due to the class configuration and/or skill level of some of the members. Continuing on is just prolonging the inevitable.
This thread sure got derailed.
I don’t like killing things. I recommend that they do not add any requirements where I have to kill things.
Seriously though, jumping puzzles (like it or not) are part of the game. The achievements are optional. They do not require quick reflexes except for a few that are not available anymore except for in SSC.
Also use regen foods if you want a slightly easier time. If you’re fine with that then use the condition duration reduction foods.
I only say it’s an exploit because you say people need to stack just right in melee. One mistake and she continues to use the poison. If people could attack in melee however they want then it wouldn’t be an exploit. If the latter were the case then it would be like Alpha.

But why they never changed at least CoF 1? I must agree with you and others with 2 facts.
CoF 1 is super easy.
AC is not that hard if you do it with guild mates. Even the new AR that is praised for its diffculty can be done quickly with guild mates and TS and it is fun.
But it is undoable with PUGs in most of time. And there is really lot of pugs in game. They are important part of player base becouse game need as most players as it can have. Not everyone is active guild member and play only with his friends. And i fear if they will change all dungeons like they changed AC most of those ,,PUGs" will leave game and start play some more ,,Pug friendly" games. I think Anet know this and that is why they never changed any other dungeon like they changed AC. They had lot of time to do it already.Because rushing to fix stuff will most likely end up breaking them even more?
They are most likely working on fixing it, but they need it to be a good balance, and they need it to make sense. It is fully possible to do the new AC with PUGs. I have done so myself, just a few hours after the patch went live.
People simply need to listen and reflect about what is happening. And most people actually don’t have an issue with that.Than your group is not PUG group. At least not ordinary. Becouse you lead and explain tactic just like you would do it in guild group. But your way is not so common as you may think. Normaly people just expect everyone know what to do, and if group fail they leave and find another group where they expect everyone know what to do and if it fail again they leave and again……
PUG != noob group
PUG = Pick Up Group
A pug can be coordinated and just as good as a guild group. A guild group can be horrible as a noob group.
How about from the cannons? Did you avoid the ones he fired too?
You have no proof that it’s not random either. There is actual more evidence to suggest that it’s random than not.
Whether it is experimentation or not is irrelevant. I can buy lottery tickets with different numbers from different locations during different times of the day. In the end there isn’t a difference.

I run this jumping puzzle daily on my mesmer, and most the time it is emptier a cookie jar after cookie monster has seen it. But in the past week it has been a nightmare to get through with campers (I am on Darkhaven) from Isle of Janthir and Northern Shiverpeaks. But it gave me so much pleasure when I managed to sneak past them camping at the traps, the darkroom and arena where they were camping, staying invisible the whole time (EVEN THROUGH THE DARK ROOM!
) and ported up an entire zerg from my side. Served those camping kitteners right.
How did you get past the dark room while invisible? Unless you had other people on your server lighting the way then I don’t see it being possible.
Unless you know how the game is programed this doesn’t really apply. It is easy to say if I roll a pair of dice 10 times and roll a 5 each time that the propbablility of rolling a 5 on my next roll does not change based upon the prior ten rolls. this is because the “programming” of the dice is a known quantity. there are 6 sides each with the same chance of turning up and the combinations that make 5 (1-4. 4-1, 2-3 and 3-2) are finite.
Only Anet knows how the programming of the game and how different variables (MF, Zone, speed of opening) factor into the loot mechanisms.
Again, you’re assuming that speed of opening, time of day, or whatever are actually a factor. These are things people make up to explain what they felt was a pattern. These are also the same people who have a lack of understanding about statistics/probability.
It the patch notes for Sky Pirates they stated that all Dragon Bash content is still available except for the fireworks one. I think that’s your answer.
Or reset a 0 to a 1.
What if you relog?
I never really look at what armor people wear. I never got into the whole “dress up Barbie” aspect of the game.
I read some players talking about the 2nd July, although yet to see an official source for it. Makes sense as it fits with the next maintenance on Tuesday
Patch notes. GW2 home page.
Angles seemed fine for Frizz. It’s the last fight that has issues when trying to avoid the cannons. The ceiling needs to be bumped up a bit by the walls.
1) Don’t touch lasers
2) Use stability to avoid pulls from golems
3) ???
4) Profit
Easy if you have a group that doesn’t die and can kill them in a reasonably amount of time.
A trait that deals directly with illusions that shouldn’t be in the illusion section… Hmmm…
You have really missed the point. Build diversity > flavor text fluff.
The problem is that the Illusions tree offers the passive bonuses to +condition damage and -shatter recharge, making the whole tree only beneficial to two builds, one of which (condition build) is very weak. That is a huge stat loss to invest in for non-shatter builds for a trait that until the patch was considered a requirement for every Mesmer build.
But why did you need IC in the first place?
To me interrupt is just a gimmick and not what a build should center around. It’s like putting all of your eggs in one basket for something that is not very consistent.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
I didn’t have time to test out my builds last night since I working through all of the Sky Pirate content. The kill 50 aetherblades I each region is annoying/time-consuming. I basically took the points I had in illusion and threw it up one inspiration to max it at 30. I took the condition on removal trait due to the new dungeon.
I personally had no issues keeping phantasms/clones up. My personal belief that the only reason IC was chosen was because our clones/phantasms died so quickly. The phantasms now last so much longer and defender/enchanter actually has their uses. We can still generate clones by dodging if necessary.
If people need to generate clones and phantasms so quickly then perhaps they should look towards a shatter build. Some of the abilities/skills tied to clone generation are a little slower on recharge but I honestly never spammed them and see no reason to.
I’ve seen all people claim that phantasms shouldn’t stay up for so long but never saw why. Phantasms are your primary damage in a phantasm build other than your auto. Overwriting them with a clone or other phantasm just seems like a waste. I normally shatter them at the end of my rotation before summoning more.
I don’t see the nerf to blurred frenzy as being that bad. The extra couple seconds in cool down is a bummer but manageable. Being as to attack and not take retaliation damage actually didn’t make sense so I agree with that nerf. I haven’t tested it against maw yet but would be disappointed if it still didn’t evade the attacks it used to.
I think a lot of people are just over-exaggerating the nerfs. I large percentage of the GW2 population rely on others for their builds so knew absolutely nothing about what their class is capable of. People saw two primary builds and when one trait went away they just panicked. Once those that love to post builds (Kyliaa/Pyro/etc) start doing so, things will settle down.
A trait that deals directly with illusions that shouldn’t be in the illusion section… Hmmm…
People will relax by the weekend once they’ve seen the full impact of all of the changes rather than focusing on just a few. There will likely be several builds out by then as well from those that regularly post them which 90% of the Mesmer population follow/use.
For PvE, as long as the clones stay alive longer then IC isn’t needed. I believe a lot of builds relied on it because clones went down so quickly. The only ones that really need constant clone generation were shatter builds.
The patch has only been out for a couple hours. Try it out for a reasonable amount of time before automatically assuming things are horrible. Tweak your builds as well.
You miss a point. It works with skills like phase retreat, decoy and mirror blade (just to name some of them). It means overall less mobility, less survivability and less might stacking ability.
No i didn’t miss it. I commented about this in this thread or one of the dozen others. How often do you need to use them the instant they are available? If you’re someone that likes to mash/spam weapon skills then yes you may be disappointed.
Well of course i cant check every single post in the forum.
To answer your question, i want to spam mirror blade (with traited gs and iElasticity) in order to gain huge might stacks, vulnerability, damage and a clone that also means more might with shatters. Decoy is also something you may want to use as soon as its ready with the new PU buff, its still a skill that you want to be ready asap.
A fully traited phase retreat is also really nice to escape if you are chased by mobs/players. Im sure there are a lot of other examples as a lot of skills are included, im now thinking about feigned surge even if i didnt test it. you want to use it asap if you are chased underwater.
Sounds more like a shatter build than phantasm though.

Their HP was buffed 270%.
That is phantasms, not clones.
My mistake as I was referring to everything in general than being specific like I should have.
Clones barely did any damage as phantasms did most of this. Clones were just a side effect of using certain skills and we hardly have any difficulty creating clones. With phantasms staying alive longer that means we do not have to keep spamming the weapons skills to generate more of them. Before the patch I often had to shatter them in my rotation since they were usually still up and it seemed a waste not to.

Unless you spammed the skill, the two seconds will not be noticeable. The immunity to retaliation did seem a little overboard so I can understand the nerf to that aspect.
Sigh. Why must people rely on others to find them a build? There’s many of us who actually try out builds for ourselves and actually know what the class is capable of. I can already see at least two other builds that may be viable other than shatter but haven’t had the chance to test them.
It’s RNG. A dev awhile back even stated that MF only affects drops from mobs. If I stripped my character and danced, getting 5 tickets within the first 1k coffers wouldn’t mean that was why I got them.
People who don’t have an understanding of statistics try to rationalize what they feel are patterns. In several of the other million threads like this people have posted links to these fallacies.
Did you just open 10 thousand coffers, or did I? Don’t make such general statements so easily if you have not tested any of this yourself. Also, don’t invoke quasi official quotes made by others without providing a source. I don’t doubt that other people will have tested this, but I’d like to see how they tested it, and what their results were.
I did test this. While I did not expect to find a difference, I experienced a difference of night and day. My only hope is that it is correct, and that it will help others.
The source has been linked. These are not general statements and assuming my stance would be swayed by opening 10k coffers proves my point.
All they’re going to do is cause a lot of hardcore players to become casual players who log in for their daily and once a month for about an hour to do the living story content.

It’ll likely get ninja patched next month.
It was clearly stated that it was for that weekend only. It was in the patch notes and the in-game interface. You likely will not be given an opportunity to get the achievement. Most of this will be forgotten by the next living story or whenever the new must have item is released.
This doesn’t help the fact the event was bugged at times. Myself and many others stood in the area for 5-6hrs (not in the overflow) and they didn’t pop up. Whatever schedule Anet said it was on, it simply wasn’t on that schedule or the event was bugged, but sitting there between 5-6hrs with no event at all would point towards it being bugged.
Yes all of us were by the fountain.
Was that 5-6 hours consecutively at that spot on that same server? If you sat within the areas of LA that gave credit for 5-6 hours straight without logging off, changing servers, or whatever; yes I will agree that it was bugged.
I agree with the topic. I did not get my box of helms DESPITE participating in the whole fireworks and I refuse to let Arenanet give us the cold shoulder.
You had to be in Lion’s Square or by the Mystic Fountain for it to count (just being in LA doesn’t count). Were you?
A little late for April Fools?
LoS is used to gather mobs and not to negate an attack she is always supposed to be using. If it only works in a certain spot then obviously it is unintended by the devs.

Why are people having so many issues with this boss? Any average pug should be able to kill him within 3 traps. The uncoordinated ones can just lead him onto a trap, spawn the ghosts, and just use skill 2.
Like mentioned, people should not be attacking him in ghost form. It’s pretty easy to see as he’s translucent and takes little to no damage. The poison wells are easily avoidable. You just need to pay attention.
You won’t see dungeons being updated or new ones created because it isn’t profitable. Those who were doing dungeons got pulled to work on living story. The more living story chapters means more opportunity for RNG chests with RNG loot. It’s a bummer but they’re stuck doing what senior execs want.
Sounds like an exploit. I don’t see the point since she’s incredibly easy. Any class that uses a long ranged weapon can solo her with ease. She has a very very basic attack pattern.

It’s all RNG.
Normal coffers have a drop rate of around 0.01%. If you open 2,000 coffers then that means you have an 18% chance of having a ticket drop. Bare in mind that no matter how many coffers you open, each individual coffer will still have that 0.01% chance for a ticket.
Depends on how lucky we are but about 3-4 is the average.
one big problem with the fireworks was that we didn’t know what time it was on. From what I understood, it was to be at odd o’clocks pacific time (1:00, 3:00, etc.) but it turned out to be the first dawn after the odd o’clocks (as far as I could tell). So there was much more than the “only necessary to log in for 5 minutes” .
For that reason, I believe Anet should have extended the fireworks a day or two. However, in general, I feel that if you miss it then too bad.
It happened every two hours which coincided with the in-game day. It seemed to change often and this was due to patches.
This wasn’t a handful of players. Part of the problem with this event or achievement was it did not work for many. Many people stood around the area in excess of 6 hours and it never even started. When the fireworks show did run for some, there were many that didn’t even get the achievement. I was in the boat where the event never even started. This happened across 3 days.
My use of “handful” was an exaggeration as the use of “a lot” was. People had to stay through the entire fireworks show; especially the ending. The boat was likely not part of the area that you needed to be to get credit.
They already set a precedent with the Karka event. They gave everybody the chest after the event who missed it. I’m guessing because they finally realized it was a bad idea to have an event during a small window. For instance, not everyone is going to be around on the weekend, especially if it’s nice out.
It’s not the same. There were log in issues and excessive lag causing the client to crash and such. It was also only a 3-4 hour event that occurred for ONE time only. I’ll also add that the fact people were able to exploit the overflow is irrelevant.
As I stated several times before, you could just log yourself into the game and set yourself to auto-run into a corner. You can then go off and do whatever you want and have the achievement when you come back. Many people did just that.
They did it for the karka event, they can do it for this event, and give everyone the achievement while their at it. Then maybe next time they’ll learn not to do an event during a “window” of time, and one thats not bugged.
Only that it was not bugged. People were just not meeting the conditions to receive credit for the achievement., Either they left before it was completely over or they were not in the correct area to witness it.
