My guess is Feb 7th
As scarce as T6 mats are I usually find myself needing many, many times more T5 mats than T6 mats. I wouldn’t be opposed to increasing dungeon rewards, but first I really just want to see dungeons changed. Remove 33-66% of the trash mobs in each patch and make the rest of them unskippable. This makes dungeons shorter for PUGs, makes them longer for organized groups that skip content, but mostly it goes a long way towards normalizing the time needed to complete a dungeon, which means ANet can adjust the rewards more fairly. Because right now they aren’t balanced that great, a speedrunning group is getting those tokens and gold in ~2-3 minutes on most paths, whereas an unorganized group can take up to 20 minutes or longer if they are really bad. Its hard to find a reward level that is appropriate for both extremes imo
It’s not 2-3 minutes on most paths. The ones that can clear the very few that can be completed that quickly are highly skilled and coordinated groups which are beyond what you’d encounter in most pugs and non-pug groups. Dungeons shouldn’t be balanced around groups that play terrible otherwise you just remove whatever challenge is left and we’re stuck with even more boring dungeons.
Which T6 mats are you referring to? Aside from leather and cloth, all the others are directly farmable and/or have multiple ways to acquire them such as laurels or map rewards.
The amount of gold players can earn has increased by a lot over the years. While 10K seemed like a lot when the game released, now it’s not so much for those that have been profitable/fortuitous. Some of the more rarer, and highly demanded items, are slowly creeping up to the existing cap. Eventually those items too could reach the cap and players would then have to wait in the queue to get their hands on those items.
If you believe another thread then Mystic Coins will soon be up at that cap. ;p
On a slightly more serious note, I see no problem with raising the cap.
Most items won’t reach it.
If it’s not fun then don’t do it. Achievements shouldn’t be removed because some people don’t like them. Otherwise, there would be almost no achievements in the game. They actually made it more bearable for many players as last year you needed to do 100 interrupts.

Feed that annoying quaggan guarding over the baby griffons in Bitterfrost to her.
You’re trying to buy more than 10K gold worth of chak egg sacs?
If not, not sure how your proposed solution will solve your problem.
https://www.gw2tp.com/item/72021-chak-egg-sac
Their issue is that right now there are 8 buy orders for 10K with someone seeming to have two orders. The OP is forced to wait in line until the orders in front of them are filled or cancelled. Raising the cap would allow them to out more gold into the buy order in hopes to put it above everyone else’s.

It’s not about if you can or can’t cheese it. It’s about how bad the entire design is. It needs to be removed.
That’s your opinion about it being bad and needing to be removed but I see nothing wrong with it. It only drags on because players choose to allow it to.
That said, I don’t see anything particularly wrong if its HP was dropped by 33% or the damage from the rabbit’s attack was increased by 33%.

The attacks are well telegraphed. Use a combination of dodges, invisibility, and playing dead to avoid damage. Use vulnerability and howl to boost how much damage you do with the #1 skill. The vulnerability skill is ranged so you can use it to pull the veteran to use if necessary.
Depending on your skill level, it should take between 20-45 minutes.

I did it in about 35ish minutes without cheating or using consumables. You can learn the abilities or just spam auto attack while doing suicide runs. Of course the latter will take forever.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
I’ve done the event to stop it from being frozen. It just takes so long to do that it’s quicker to just let it fail and then reclaim it.
I don’t see them really touching the rewards on EB’s couple of bosses. There’s the daily which will persuade players to do it when either of those two bosses are up.
The lack of any sort of meta for Bitterfrost was disappointing. It would have been nice if a world boss would spawn after clearing everything.
Oh and a tip for the obstructed/line of sight shots. GET THE AUTO ATTACK UPGRADE FIRST. You won’t hit kitten without it. I always dash for it as soon as the game begins.
Everyone does, but it only does more damage, it doesnt increase the likelihood of not being obstructed
It increases the speed, not damage. The increase in speed makes it less likely for the projectile to be obstructed.
It’s a bit strange though as the issue is exactly the same for the Wintersday one and yet there are people praising that one over Dragonball. Just saw that in map chat earlier.
People are complaining more with Dragonball than Winsterday’s mini pvp game because of the achievements. As you said, both have the same flaws, but Dragonball have more greedy achievements tied to it; some of these achievements are pure luck because of the bad matchmaking system.
I, personally, really like these mini games, but can’t stand the system at all. So, unfortunately, I don’t play dragonball in particular. Knowing you are actually winning the game but you are swapped 5 seconds before the end is totally unfair.
I prefer losing winsterday’s pvp game because there is almost nothing to win with it, and it’s way less frustrating to lose a match because of it.
None of the achievements are pure luck and hardly any are greedy. In case you didn’t know, being swapped 5 seconds before the end will still give you a win.
It is, at least when you enter a game where you are automatically in the team losing with people leaving/enter & repeat because they see that they can’t win due to being outnumbered.
Happens to me everytime I try to enter a game. then it happens during two-three games and since people are leaving you are never 5vs5 and always outnumbered by the enemy.
The achievements can be done fast or slowly depending of your luck with the matchmaking.
You can’t predict if you will be 1vs1 or 4vs5 or anything. It’s frustrating.
Last year I almost never had this issue for some reasons, so I guess I was lucky with the matchmaking system.
I personally think the achievements shouldn’t have been there other than the one that gives rewards after 10 wins. Without the achievements, the defeat shouldn’t be as much frustrating.
I play the winsterday’s pvp mini game a lot and as far as I know there is not that much rewards from doing it.The only achievement that would be based on luck, if you considered getting into a “winning team” at the start as luck, would be for the 10 wins. None of the others require you to have a winning team. Neither do the ease of doing them depend on whether you’re in a winning team.
If you want to win then be proactive and organize the team so everyone plays together. You’ll have much better luck this way than hoping to land on a team where someone is already doing this for you.
Individual player behavior cannot salvage this activity. The last time I played it, the first game I joined, I joined the losing side at 460-40. At least it was over soon. The next game, several people joined and left on my team before the countdown had even completed. We started with 2 vs 4 and obviously got slaughtered in the early game. All the while, people that joined in immediately left, probably as soon as they saw the score. And that were my 2 games for the day.
At the very least this thing needs a dishonor debuff so there’s a decent chance to get into an actual match.
People coming and going can’t be controlled but that’s with all PvP activities.
If players would work together then they have a higher chance to succeed in this team activity. It’s not like it’s that difficult to ask players to stick together. Some may go off and do their own thing but that’s no different than someone doing the same in sPvP.
Dragonball is pretty much designed to be unfair and lopsided. Otherwise, everyone would have all the skills right away at the beginning instead of having to collect orbs, but as it is its not possible to win anymore if your team got wiped out. Might just aswell leave then and hope for a better match next time, at least if you are after the wins.
Teams are randomized. Everyone has to gather orbs to unlock those abilities. All abilities are lost when someone dies. It’s the same for everyone so it’s not really unfair and lopsided.
It’s a bit strange though as the issue is exactly the same for the Wintersday one and yet there are people praising that one over Dragonball. Just saw that in map chat earlier.

3. People would QQ so hard as they get facerolled by 5 man premade teams. Then anet would have to split solo and team queues to balance it out, which is too much effort for a minigame.
Do you think there would be that many? besides, it’s not pvp, everyone is equal in this minigame, so other than better communication you have no benefit. You can still play with friends and lose 10 times over
I take it you didn’t play Guild Wars. Skilled players meeting up with VOIP and sync entering to join the same team and steamroll randoms was commonplace. It was hard enough on people who played that game. It would decimate the average team composed of players of this one.
You don’t know what “pvp” means.
You just said everyone is equal. If everyone is equal, wouldn’t that include skill? If people don’t have equal skill then how could they all be equal?
Equal in oppertunities. Just like chess, everyone gets the exact same pieces to play with. Meaning you have only have yourself to blame
You are so out of touch with the social issues of team games that you should just stop talking now and go do some research.
You just sound like Trump who shouts ‘wroooong’ all the time without actually saying anything.
I’ve been playing this game since GW1 came out. If you have bad experiences, sorry for you, but the world isn’t all sad and grey for everyone
You just did the same thing. You just attacked what they said rather than counter it with an argument to show why you think that they were wrong.
It’s a bit strange though as the issue is exactly the same for the Wintersday one and yet there are people praising that one over Dragonball. Just saw that in map chat earlier.

If everyone is equal then that means a 50% win rate. So that’s like ten games to reach the five wins. No idea why you went with 10-30 games.
Because the playerbase isn’t 50/50 in skill
some people can win 80% of the games, some people win 10% of the games, so I went with 10-30 because 10’ is when you win 50/50 and 30’ is when you win 1 on 6

Geode rewards increase as you get higher tiers as a means to incentivize reaching those higher tiers. I was often able to get 100+ geodes per sandstorm at tier 4.
I haven’t done it in months but squads used to start at about :50 right before it began. I sometimes was able to do a VB boss to get the daily chest and then spam join to hop over to the correct map instance.
If you don’t like Dragon Ball, at least it usually goes quickly so you can get the 2 rounds and get your daily. Though that jump-pad at the beginning is annoying.
I too found the snowball fight for Wintersday more enjoyable. Everyone kinda goes to the middle and dukes it out.
Yeah, also disappointed LNY isn’t more. It has a cool feel to it and people were telling me all about Cantha in the map chat (I didn’t play GW1). Kinda feel like that after 2 nearby holiday festivals that people are tired of them?
Still, like all the fireworks!
I wish they had quests and scavenger hunts like in GW1. Special minis and masks that become available each year would be great too. This would at least give those players that dislike PvP activities something else to do in order to participate in the holiday events.
Timer is about the same and I haven’t had any issues getting them.
There isn’t. Being able to reset them would remove any “value” to them as you could just get enough to swap around.
That makes sense I guess,
there could have been a 1-time only reset or something tho.
Any way, thanks (:
Would still be the same. You could get all the benefit from one mastery track and then reset it to go towards another. Although most masteries are not all that useful. Fortunately there are plenty of excess mastery points so it’s not like players cannot max all of them.
Mandatory specs?
Yeah, those nodes were difficult to get without being able to do that. They could just add another let line or one of those short updrafts around the central platform. This way you could get around there more easily.
There isn’t. Being able to reset them would remove any “value” to them as you could just get enough to swap around.
There was an announcement a while back the Anet had a small team working on the new exspantion, not sure where this was but I’m positive it was official
Small? Try 70 people. It was in the AMA from around the time Colin left and possibly on these forums in the foo fah rah surrounding the legendary stoppage.
Considering they had everyone working on HoT at the expense of all other content that is a pretty small team
I’m sure the number fluctuates as there may be people that float between projects.
Depending on the number of LS teams (I’d say 3 based on that production cycle), those teams could then move to the expansion when there’s no more planned episodes prior to the expansion. If nine episodes are planned, each team would move towards working on the expansion after completing their 3rd episode.
The builds that you see commonly used are just what are optimal. There are other builds that are viable.
I wouldn’t expect to hear anything until near the end of this year or beginning of next year.
It’s impossible to provide an even match with random people joining and leaving for every match. They could do MMR but that’s pointless for a holiday activity. It’s going to be like this for any PvP activity including the Wintersday one. It’s a bit strange though as the issue is exactly the same for the Wintersday one and yet there are people praising that one over Dragonball. Just saw that in map chat earlier.
In the end, decide whether it’s fun for you or not. If it’s not fun then don’t do it. Pretty simple. If you feel that you have to do it in order to chase some AP, and feel miserable for doing something you don’t enjoy, there’s really only one person to blame.
When the Arena cannot even get a full game at 5:30 PM PST with two tries , then I think the problem isn’t merely imagined. People really don’t like it.
It’s no longer a problem with getting fairly matched games— it’s a problem with getting a game period.
People don’t like it? I’m sure some don’t which can be said about anything. It’s also a big exaggeration to claim that there isn’t a full game at 5:30PM. It’s just that at that point in time, there isn’t enough players to fill up every single active game. This can happen at all times and regardless of the popularity.
It’s what happened. I’m not saying there wasn’t any full games as there’s no way to know that nor do I care; I’m saying that the game was unable to provide me with a full game during peak hours and that’s pretty bad.
We waited 15 minutes in limbo—3 people in 1 game, and then the next game really wasn’t any better. Finally, 2 more people joined. Sure this can happen at any time, but during prime time hours when the event’s out for a few days and there’s an AP chase?
Logged on earlier today for 3 games, not a single one was full.
So you see no difference between the following:
- 1 full game and 1 game with 5 players
- 100 full games and 1 game with 5 players
- 1,000 full games and 1 game with 5 players
And what did I say that suggests the 3 are equal, considering the part in bold? Besides that, that would be meaningless speculation to discuss anything that one isn’t involved in. I’ve already clarified that “cannot get a full game” sounded a bit ambiguous which is why I added the addition words “for me”, even though logically speaking that should have been obvious.
I’m here to deliver my anecdote, and if you have actual observations that counter it, that’s fine. If you want a semantics game, then no thanks.
As for the rest, I don’t care either. All I know is the 3-4 people that wasted their time in an empty room waiting for people to come aren’t going to come back any time soon. If that’s not worth discussing, then that’s fine.
It’s the fact that you seem to think that there’s something wrong that you cannot be provided a full match. You claim that there’s an issue that when you managed to get a couple games that were not full and then equated that to the game not being very popular. I provided examples showing that you’re reasoning has flaws.
Unless you want Anet to have AI bots running around to fill in for open spots when the total number of players playing the activity do not completely fill 100% of all active matches then you’re going to have issues in all activities like this. Anet cannot miraculously create real players to put into your instance if they don’t exist or if they’re being put into other instances that need players first.
There’s also the possibility that the instance got bugged which has happened for the Wintersday ones before. This bug really has nothing to do with the quality of the activity itself or its popularity though.

The thing that I mentioned before is that you will not always have games that are 100% full. Now, the odds of that happening are fairly low with people. Oming and going but it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Just because you experienced less than 100% full matches doesn’t mean that the activity is broken or people have lost interest. You will not find exactly enough players to have every game available 100% at every given time whether that be during peak hours or off hours.
Why would they be refunded where they still perform the same function before the shared slots as they did after. Nothing about the item itself was changed. All that shared slots give was the ability to not go through the process of swapping it between characters using the bank.

Achievements for this one are a bit irritating. Interrupt is too iffy, and getting powerups is a pain (there were games where i was camping middle and no boost appeared for the whole game)
Power ups spawn at specific time intervals.

You cannot be one-shotted except for if someone has the damage booster and the #2 skill.
Ayrilana.1396So “I hate this” now equal “this is bad design”?
Can you hate a good design?
Do you want to tell us that a good design in a MMO should bring dissatisfaction, frustration and hate, if not to all, at least to a part of the playerbase?
People are the ones bringing up bad design. They should elaborate what it is they feel is badly design and why it is such. Something along the lines of “I hate/dislike it” doesn’t really count otherwise everything in the game is badly design as not everyone will like everything.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
So “I hate this” now equal “this is bad design”?
Because one of the ingredients cost more.
I’m going to assume you simply misread what the OP asked
Yes, the actual gold value is higher due to leather costing more, but the question is why silk patches require more leather than actual silk
12 silk scraps, vs. 20 thick leather sections. It is hardly a “silk patch”, it’s a “Thick Leather Patch” with silk involved.
I don’t see why it matters. If silk were more expensive than thick leather then this thread would not exist. It comes back to cost.
That’s not true and you know it. Its strange that an item with silk in the name needs more leather than silk.
Patches were implemented very poorly into GW2’s crafting system
It is true for the most part. You don’t see threads with people complaining about the number of silk scraps anymore while the cost is almost at vendor value. Players never complaining about the lack of farming mystic coins at launch when they were a silver and yet now they complain after the price exceed 1G.
It always comes back to price. If silk was 1.3 silver and leather were 32 copper, we would not have this thread. We’d then have a thread about silk being too much and so on.
What you are forgetting to mention is that part of the reason that the price of silk is so low right now is because of how expensive leather is. Silk is easier to come by than leather, and you need less of it. Due to the high price of leather, a lot fewer players are crafting right now, which drives demand for silk lower.
And you still haven’t acknowledged the fact that its strange that something with silk in the name needs more leather than it does silk. That’s like making an orichalcum blade that required more iron and gossamer than orichalcum to make. At that point it just doesn’t make sense to call it an orichalcum blade anymore. From his post, OP is genuinely confused about the name of the patch, and not concerned with the price of the mats.
Because Anet likes to use cannons to kill flies.
I wouldn’t call a 17 million glut at 9c “flies”. They just didn’t need to implement all the ways to reduce the glut at the same time.
I kinda agree with you. But the size of the cannons that ANet pointed at leather made this glut look like the size of a fly in comparison. So the analogy stands imo
Silk doesn’t just become cheaper because leather becomes expensive. That’s not how it works but if you disagree then please show the correlation.
I did acknowledge it and said along the lines that it wasn’t important. Most components tend to use multiple materials and the ratio of one material to another doesn’t matter. The name doesn’t matter but if it’s such a big issue, suggest Anet change it to leather patch.
It’s okay if the OP is confused about the naming. I went on about price as people tend to not care about things like this if the costs were negligible.
Because one of the ingredients cost more.

It’s a lot of time and effort, but shards are decent money if you play the market with cores.
Your profit is dependent on other people not playing the market with Spirit Shards. A currency that has value if only a minority use it is a currency that only a few can use. For everyone else it will accumulate as they’re not going to want to spend that time and effort and lose gold at the end. Spirit shards are a currency with too few sinks.
Which can be said about everything that can be sold on the market. And yet, players still make profits because not everyone will participate. In most cases, people will not take advantage of anything unless they’re spoon fed on what to specifically do.
True. But I am talking about a currency, not an item being sold. A currency with only a narrow set of items it can buy is not the same as a good available from many sources being placed on the market for everyone who is interested to buy.
Which still doesn’t dispute what I said. Anything that can produce a profit in the MF by using shards can lose that profit if enough people do it just like any item on the TP. There’s no difference.
Yes, but…
It’s a reward for doing content where the value of the reward depends on people not using the reward they got for doing the content. If people used the reward then the value declines because of competion for profits. If they use the reward but they can get more gold in less time by chopping trees or if they actually lose gold because of competion from others using the reward for doing content then the reward isn’t worth much.
Like karma was, the sinks are too small. People had millions of karma stored up because there was nothing they wanted to buy. If they bought karma gear and salvaged it, not only is that not cost efficient per time spent but if everyone did that then there was no profit in it. They put in karma sinks to soak up excess karma. They now should put in Spirit Shard sinks to soak up excess Spirit Shards.
Which still doesn’t change what I said.
It’s a lot of time and effort, but shards are decent money if you play the market with cores.

You’re assuming that people specifically chose not to play this game because it uses DX9.
when will we see changes to mastery system?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Maybe they could add a way to buy core tyria mastery points with proofs of heroics
Wouldn’t make much sense as those masteries are PvE.
And so are hero points and we can buy those.
I just extended that to the mastery points that people dont want to spend time to get like the racial armors for example or camping silverwaste for the rare spawns. If they can chip away at it over time and get a random mastery point for lets say 10,25,50 or even 100 proof of heroics.
How do that affect you and me ( I assume you have completed core tyria masteries already aswell )Edit
They would still have to gain the experience to level the masteries in pve ofcourse.
Hero points are different as those are used for abilities/traits which you need for WvW. If WvW had a seaparate system like sPvP then you’d have something there.
