I went from Ele to Thief as my original mains 2 years ago. I played thief for a solid year, and then went to mesmmer for 4-6 months, and went back to ele. I recently played thief because last time I played it I was nowhere near as good at the game and I must say thief is the way to go. I love Mesmer, always will because it reminds me of the Kensai from Baldurs Gate 2, but the Thief is useful for every situation

long ago DD eles were nerfed and no one played it for a veeeeeeery long time

I wish ANET would give us ANY kind of news on an expansion, even if its something ominous or something I dont even care. So many people I know are leaving or have left just because theyre tired of the same maps, same events, and lack of new things added to the classes. I cant even defend the game anymore I just shrug and grind for frac skins and precursors I cant get for 2 years

Goodluck and congrats with FF, its truly an awesome game. I bought it at launch but came back to GW2 because the game felt dated compared to a lot of features GW2 has, but I did enjoy the game. However SquareEnix adding new classes and announcing an expansion pack really has my brother and a couple of his friends looking at going back at it and for real. I wouldnt think twice about leaving GW2 if we had content, but 2 years of my ele using d/d and staff… I mean, I just want new things… and its not even close to happening apparently so yea, im on Ultros also, maybe we’ll see you there

No this game needs new classes badly. New classes brings new skills, new traits, and new elements to the game in general. If a new class were to come out that for the most part had its way with warriors, but got battered by necros, that alone changes the dynamic of the game. yes, of course balancing is important, but nothing is EVER going to be 100% balanced, they also need to open up the table more

Warrior is terrible now since 9/9, so pick either elementalist, guardian or thief.

Salty much? Warrior is still a good class and is a welcome addition to any group.

Warrior’s DPS is disgusting. It’s so bad that I feel embarrassed to play the class now along with the fact that some of its skills are very bugged. In groups it might be less noticeable to the others since the realtime difference it makes is negligible (few seconds at most on bosses) but in a solo situation it’s sometimes close to a minute slower than before the update.

That’s really bad. Warrior DPS was already on the lower end of the spectrum before the update.

Warriors bring no useful group-wide utility to parties and there’s literally nothing about them to make them worth having other than
a) banners
b) phalanx strength in situations that call for it

Other than that… nothing.

And that’s really sad. It’s been my main and favorite since I started this game last summer, so it’s insulting to see what I love to play with destroyed.

I second this. I put over 900 hours into Mesmer and its just…. yea, now I roll ele and engi mostly

old time UO player? me too, I played on great lakes and pacific but I live in ny… dont ask why, I as young and dumb. Graveyard crew forever.

no seriously, i jus need a pvp build so I Can kill people and get up in the ranks. I usually pve and wvw, but I rarely pvp but theres things I want from pvp (glorious armor, balth backpiece) ive been in pvp the past 2 days and realize I love it lol. Only thing is, Ele is my main and im doing horrendous with it…. ok horrendous isnt the word to use, but longbow warriors/rangers are messing me up. I logged onto my ranger and murdered people with so much ease.

Enough ranting, I wanna use my engi, what do I do!

note to readers; as much as we’re crying and complaining, I have never seen one gem store purchase as much as the noble count outfit. I log in and everyone is rocking it, I dont even want it anymore lol

So much disappointment, really.. why limit the exchange rate to 400 gems? just what happened to you GW2?, every single time an update arrives, there’s always a reason to feel either sad or angry because of poor made decisions like these. The final portion of the VIP system appeared in the data files with this patch. The next feature patch will almost certainly contain the P2W VIP system that is currently in china.

We have been slowly moving this way for a long time now. Once the game started to decline they shifted more and more resources into pumping the game for cash. It is almost in full cash cow mode now. The actual content gets fewer and farther apart, but gem store gets faster and more “inclusive” and eventually you need to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to keep up.

I will hand it to Anet, they did it slow enough that anyone who pointed out the change was charged with “slippery slope” or “straw man” fallacies, and shouted down.

With the NPE and the gem changes they are finally in the home stretch. Once we get VIP the path to the dark side will be complete.

why would they ask for feedback on this? its designed to make the conversion work against the player so that they have to buy more gems, unless they want their excess gems to sit uselessly in their wallet.

this was a high-level company directive to get more gems.

Im sitting here imaging a bunch of fat guys in suits talking about how GW2 isnt making enough money and they need to find a way to squeeze more juice out of it. smh this is absolutely awful.

Recently I saw a dev post that they really enjoy our feedback on things, and I thought that was awesome… so why are their so many changes made without asking us for feedback first? This gem store change is causing people really put this game on the shelf until its reverted. What is going on over there guys? I really thing ncsoft is calling the shots 100% and that ANET doesnt even exist anymore

I have the rifle I wanted Axe, Staff, Sword, Focus and Dagger. I have gotten the Axe and Staff, the axe around 3 times. I wont ever give up but sheesh. I have bolt and I feel like its nothing compared to a frac sword at this point

I know im beating a dead horse here but come on…. over a year and I have about 6 frac skins…. I run frac almost daily, 2-4×... I mean.. ugh. And all these relics… at least make it so we can use them to buy other trinkets… pppplease

I talked to a couple of the devs just now, and they told me this is a subject they’re still reviewing and considering how best to address. It’s part of a larger discussion, as you can imagine, and changes would necessarily involve a few elements, not just condition caps alone.

While there aren’t details on changes or a timeframe in which they would be done, you can be sure that this is being reviewed by the devs and considered as part of the big picture and potential adjustments in the future.

was hanging out in ol hoelbrak today pondering the meaning of norn, when I noticed in map chat people were saying they dont think people even work at ANET anymore. THe convo became so toxic people really believed that theres maybe, 12-20 people that work at ANET just to make sure the server stays up while the load up no gem store items. If people actually believe this (as ridiculous as it sounds) thats a problem. The fact that people could possibly even hold a convo for over 30 minutes over that and sound almost like they knew what they were talking about is down right awful. Im an ANET white knight for the most part but seriously…. seriously… people are saying and feeling a wicked way towards the developers. We all LOVE this game, its why we’re here, and its also why many players ARENT here, because they feel like they like the game more than ANET does

It’s hard to decide because.

Warrior. Highest hp, highest armor, great healing, very easy to do massive damage. To me the con is they are very easy and become very very boring.

My ranger I love to play, I like using sword alot. And I like I can solo so many things with my pet. I like using long bow at range and doing nice burst. But seeing my numbers so low compared to my warrior always make it feel like a bummer.

But overall I play the game for fun of course. So I’m on my ranger about 95% more of the time

the numbers are deceiving though; with our added pet dps, which we tend to ignore, we to top warriors in dps. Only thing that keeps warrior high on deeps is might stacking with GS, other than that a 1hs ranger has em beat

sup guys I know this has def been posted like 1000 times but I havent used my guardian in forever, basically just ele and engi. I decided I want to use my Guard again since its my original 80. Im using a 1hs/focus and GS build. Wouldnt mind using hammer or mace or anything, jus looking for a good dungeon and fractal build, whether they are separate or not. Sorry for horrible grammar its 5am lol thanks

I think crit healing is a good idea if done right, however I think crit on conditions is much more important. Low, low chance, like at highest 5 percent chance per tick, but something like that would be awesome (imo)

This is the content veteran players really really want. Anet has proven many many many many many times that they care about the person who bought the game yesterday, not 2 years ago. I love this game to death and back but lets be serious, we wont see any new stuff for atleast 3 years

Today ive been plagued with disconnects when I select my toons, anyone else experiencing this?

ive said it 1 million times and ill say it again. I got zap around 70 hours into the game, maybe less, the same day I hit level 80. I sold it on the TP to buy abyss dye not knowing what it was. I have not gotten another precursor since then.

my closest mate in game has had 10 precursors drop and has 8 legendaries. he gets one about every 300 hours gameplay wise. Me, being at 4k hours, have only gotten one drop and it was about 70 hours into the game and I Sold it not knowing what a precursor was. The loot/rng in this game is absolutely off the wall insane

The Ranger right now is exactly how it always should of been. Only thing I would change is the 1hs 2 attack. I think it should be leap first, evade after, instead of vice versa. whatever though

Its really, really, really simple honestly; we just want knowledge. FF14 (sorry to name drop an inferior title) announced the names of their two new classes coming out and gave an eta, and that was it. answered no questions, avoided all drama, just said it was coming and thats that. Now, this week I believe, the classes are coming in a patch and the community is super happy. I forgot what its like to be happy when it comes to GW2 news. The entire method of information release is borderline terrible. I know more about upcoming WOW updates than I do about GW2 and I have close to 4k hours in GW2 and ive never played WOW.

Lets all be serious here, we just want a yes or no if theres an expansion coming. We dont need an exact date or anything, just say, yes there will be an expansion 2015/16. Thats it.

We were told classes would get other weapons to use…. 2 years, both of my eles are beginning to get tired of their vast weapon selection. My thief? lets not even get started on him.

Theres nothing wrong with transparency. I see you used the book example, and its the perfect example because that slit shows you exactly more info than youd care to know. ITS THERE, and you didnt read it. The point is, some people do, and they have the choice. We, as GW2 fans, might possibly be the most knowledge restricted fan base ive ever seen. I come from a time when Ultima Online was the dominant MMO, over 15 years ago, when we had close to no forum and updates came when you logged in randomly. You know what? The GMs (thats what we called devs) actually logged in and stood in town telling us stuff that was to come. This is without a map chat, it was only people on screen that could see it. People would come by the hundred to crowd around and listen and then run around and tell people all the updates that were coming and they delivered. Even if it took longer than expected they tried to keep us informed as to what was going on at all times.

It comes down to choice; you guys can sit here and watch new players come in while veteran players slowly dwindle down due to being annoyed, OR, you can open up the curtains, invite the older players back in, give them a REASON to WANT to log in, and you wont lose not a single new player, heck ,you may even get MORE.

Im accepting job offers btw.

If theres no expansion, or announcement of an expansion I should say sometime within the next 6-8 months im going to play FF14 until GW2 adds more

I havent read any previous comments, but why I hate playing necro is because it doesnt feel like a necro class at all. I feel like this necro class should be heavy armor or something I dunno, I just dont like it. I wish it had some kind of slow melee attack with greatsword or hammer that was… I dunno. just no.

Elementalist is the way to go. I switch between Ele, Warrior, Ranger and Engi. While I like the other classes (mesmer was my main for awhile, as was thief) I find the above 4 to be the most fun and versatile. Guardian is great but its def not what youre looking for. Thief is great for burst damage, but if you find you dont like it ele is the other side of the coin. Thief is also much more deadly at lvl once you have more traits, and low level its kinda like a warrior stealth and low hp.

heavy class that only uses mace, 1h sword, shield and hammer. has different stances that work like ele attunements. win.
