I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
The Adrenaline changes killed this profession. Was fighting a thief he blinked away. Lost all adrenaline, then got rekt.
ANET you just killed your own game. Whoever Okayed these changes should be fired. And your whole balance testing team should be as well.
haha
hahahaha
ha
haha.
what i read:
“KITTEN I NEED SKILL TO WIN. HAX. CHEAT, REPORT. OP. KITTEN. QQ. where is my faceroll-win?”anyone agreeing? Proper translation of warriorish? Right?
Not really. giving a thief control over how much adrenaline a warrior has simply by allowing him to reset it to 0 by disengaging disrupts healing, adrenal health, zerker stance, and anything else that requires adrenaline to be effective.
It’s far from wanting a faceroll win. A thief should not be allowed to say “nope, not gonna be able to even -attempt- to use -x, y z- on me” by simply running away at 20 second intervals.
Sorry, but the “Awh, its just a L2P issue” isn’t going to fly here. The majority of builds focused around adrenaline are useless now. I understand some of you guys are simply -overjoyed- that the warriors that used to just button mash and win without any forethought actually can’t do that anymore, but the nerf has severely hindered many existing and viable playstyles. I haven’t had my build severely rocked because I did not rely on adrenaline in the first place, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t players with strategy and sense that did rely on it for their damage.
In a few days all the warriors that have a shred of sense will spec tanky and slot Spiked Armor to melt happy rangers, and then people will start complaining that they’re too hard to kill. Inb4 Healing signet OP.
Those that just copy paste meta builds and hope it does all the work for them… sorry for your loss.

Behold, the weight of the QQ that was once placed on the shoulders of warriors.
enjoy that. I’ll be over here with my Hammer 4 I mean arcing slice.
I prefer being the underdog.
There is a big difference between being the underdog and being treated as the dog.
When every Warrior is using a build focused around Adrenaline traits (Cleansing Ire, Burst Mastery, Furious, Sharpened Axes) or completely trying to avoid it (Berserker’s Might, Adrenaline Health, Heightened Focus) or some combination thereof to compensate (and every build running Berserker’s Stance), you have a HUGE problem with the class mechanic.
This is also true; I’ve mentioned this a couple of times before.
My gameplay was not affected at all, but I certainly can see how this is a heavy hit to warriors in general. It’s far from a L2P issue as some people are implying. you’ve pretty much had the seams ripped out of your build if you included zerker power, zerker stance, cleansing ire, or adrenal health, and use anything but longbow to land-drop burst.
How to play roaming warrior:
1) Engage.
2) pop yours invulnerabilities and spam CC and damage like no tomorrow.
3) invul ending: Are you winning? finish him. Are you losing? Run away and wait for CD.
4) Is he dead? No = repeat.Warrior with IN COMBAT GAP CLOSER mobility is fine, the problem is the GTFO mobility. Anet should fix this like they fix the hammerbow build with that well deserved huge damage nerf.
the problem is being unable to be snagged while gtfo-mobility. You can see the warrior running off, and that is good enough to pre-snag him. obviously he will be coming back unless he gets cold feet, so you may even have multiple opportunities.
The issue comes in where snagging a warrior out of rush or leap becomes impossible due to heavy condi dura – .
could easily be solved by a nerf to food-melandru.
although, judging by how Anet made Rampage pretty much a 30 second gtfo button, it isnt like they’re dropping hints that warriors shouldn’t be able to retreat so easily.
Diving in and gutting warrior mobility will probably make 2v1 fights against warriors almost always losing battles (losing by which I mean the warrior will certainly die).
Can’t punish the whole class cause some have adopted a hit and run strategy.
Thieves do that all the time, by the way. Why can’t warriors?
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
Having the fundamental core of the Warrior class (Adrenaline) changed after 2 years is easily the largest ill-conceived change to any class in the last year. In order to fix this, ANet needs to provide Adrenaline strikes at double the amount, add Adrenaline gained while in combat baseline (i.e. give all Warriors Berserker’s Might baseline), and/or make attacks hitting the Warrior generate Adrenaline baseline.
It’s THAT bad. The clunky/slow animation flow/lack of abilities going off of the Warrior combat feels ten times worse now.
The issue with the Sept 9th feature pack is the new zones/brand new character changes are far more detrimental to the game’s longevity and those need to be addressed first. By the time Warrior is addressed, no one will be left to critique it.
TL;DR – I can’t blame the OP; if my only 80 class was Warrior, I would be doing the same right now (coupled with the new zone Sept 9th changes).
This is mostly true.
As noted, there are some warriors that the patch didnt affect that much.
for those that depended on the old adrenaline patterns and traited for Zerker might, adrenal health/ etc. , they’re gonna suffer very hard.
It isnt like they’re bad and suffering. They’re suffering because they picked viable options for class traits.
That ain’t cool.
I won’t disagree that Illusions can be more fun and versatile than straightforward weapon attack. There’s a reason I mained Mesmer when the game was released … so many things that only Mesmer can do … though each has been steadily nerfed, lol.
Honestly, I think Warrior is how other classes should be … have a telegraph for ALL of your abilities. Why? Because it provides something to react to which enables counterplay. If every class was as well-done as the Warrior, the game would be in much better shape and have far greater esport potential.
What is more infuriating?
Getting caught by an eviscerate or other hard-hitting but telegraphed ability ?
… or …
Getting nailed by a string of instant casts that have no telegraphs ?The latter. If a Warrior gets me with a telegraphed skill, kudos to them. They outplayed me at that moment and here’s their reward (and my punishment).
This is honestly why I’ve started playing Warrior more despite me not thinking they are as viable 1v1 (both before and after this patch) as some other classes.
This.
unfortunately the majority of people that complain about our bursts that they refuse to dodge have the ear of Anet. apparently saving a dodge, block, blink, stealth, or interrupt for an extremely-flamboyant-air-somersault-that-will-instant-down-you-but-takes-a-whole-second-to-complete is a bit much for some people, and rather than learn to read those tells, they simply beg for nerfs.
The tall poppy gets cut.
Not that I’m complaining. I prefer being the underdog. It makes it sink in that much more when I down people now. My only disappointment is that I feel the nerfs will continue to come because classes that wear light/medium armor but have huge access to stealth see big spooky damage numbers when they’re in range of anything with a blade and think that it shouldn’t be so.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
Iunno about pve, but pvp/wvw the meta seems to suggest tanky GS layouts.
Not sure though. works for me at least.
The hilarious thing is people are actively trying to get Healing Signet nerfed now.
you kitten m8
The adrenaline changes are actually something that does nerf your garden variety “coward” warrior, which I think was a better way of going about it than hacking away at their mobility on two of their weapons.
…how? If anything, it’ll make the warriors he’s describing more likely to run away. Their ability to break combat and run is completely unaffected by the changes to adrenaline.
Again, he isnt talking about mere mobility. He’s talking about ridiculous gtfo-mobility coupled with apparently heavy condi mitigation.
I can understand that is annoying, but some people will do that. Just like incredibly crafty thieves that vanish completely at 30% and you never find them unless they want you to.
>The solution is obvious. Nerf FT.
That would render the sword useless on a power spec. Not gonna happen. Two handed weapons already are far superior than most dual wield specs, which is silly imo.
I was being facetious. But seriously, the way anet makes changes though I wouldn’t be surprised they’d nerf “strong” skills to make bad ones look more appealing.
Like how they nerfed SOR so people would use Rampage?
The only thing that could bring me back is the announcement of a full expansion (paid or otherwise, I don’t care), that included:
20 new maps/zones
1 new class
1 new race
1 new weapon per class
5+ new utilities per class
1 new WvWvW map (minimum – 5 would be great)And I want it out by Christmas.
I’ve already uninstalled the game from my computer.
This would be the bare minimum needed to bring me back.
While I dont agree with his demanding nature, I’d like to see that too.
I remember the first time I saw Diving Goggles, conveniently placed on the precipice of a ledge above some water.
After the initial shock wore off, I stood staring down at them, my mind racing to comprehend their meaning, Literally a couple of possibilities swirled around my tiny brain but it was too much. Exhausted, I logged off.
I went for a walk just to clear my mind. The image of those goggles haunted me as I walked along the path, teasing me with their impenetrable puzzle. I saw the moon and the stars, and it dawned on me. Just like the endless mysteries of the universe, I was not meant to understand. In another life, in another time – maybe.
I had looked upon those goggles on that ledge like a mouse looks upon Michaelangelo’s David. They were simply too huge to comprehend, to hold their full meaning in my head would be like holding the sea in a teacup.
Sometimes I still dream about them, and the ledge. The water below rushes up to meet me, I understand a little bit more – but then I wake up, and the dream, like the answers, fade away.
9/10 part 2 pls
Water should be removed from all starter maps grin

ITT: Rollback -everything-.
… Forcibly enticing new players to at least level to 40 before they unlock every slot of their hotbar, and thus giving them more time to become dedicated to/enthralled by the game?
…. BRILLIANT!
Cow entertaining has never been more rewarding!
The problem is it affects people who have already done that
Diving is too harrrd~
Passively killing a souped-up ranger due to Spiked Armor and said ranger not noticing his health dropping = Gw2 doesnt get any better.

Meh, I’ll pass and do something constructive … like talk about possible new builds, meta changes (if any), new runes/sigils, etc.
It gets more done.
But here’s a hanky.
You seem to think I have tears…
I donnnt~
just a note, I am very happy with the adrenal change, as a GS/LB warr.
And I have nothing against mesmers.
You can’t ignore who they got away from.
“When a warrior retreats from battle, they receive a new pair of running shoes while the player they escaped from receives another doughnut”
Who are you to decide what is “honorable”. Should we go back to people standing in lines across open fields shooting at each other? That used to be “honorable” warfare in real-life. Then people got smart.
I was just kidding, eassy now~
“Retreating from battle 10,000 times with GS” = “God Running Away from Mere Mortals” Title.
How so, Brigg? Could you please elaborate?
I can elab for him.
In Spvp, now that my burst has cleave, I am very likely to land burst and gen permafury without having to trait for it/use signet when on point or in 1vX.
This opens the way for me to use a tanky build that has raw power but lower crit, and use that sturdiness to sustain crippling, high crit autoattacks that stack vuln.
for cleansing ire, swap to LB. Lb pindown @ close range after feint = free HB.
It’s a struggle to use against expert players, but it -does- work. and it hurts newbies pretty hard.
Gs burst also has little windup, so while it does hit like a wet noodle, it is good for accessing fury on a build explicitly traited for bunker.
Rage is just there to gen adrenal.
(edited by Azure The Heartless.3261)
Yeah, and while we’re at it, we could throw around meaningless snark and make inaccurate comparisons. That’ll get something done :-)
That’s the spirit!
Press F to entertain that cow!
“Warriors that now retreat from battle where they are not outnumbered drop loot bags and gain 1min of [dishonorable].”
fixed.
The matter is not HB, but the fact that Adrenal builds (a lot of builds) ALL became UNPLAYABLE.
I can not understand why ANey killed the Adrenaline system.
Let’s reduce by 80% thieves’ stealth or remove completely an Attunement from Eles. Same thing.
Earth is now OP, let’s remove it and slightly decrease the damage eles take while attuned to Earth.
Not every build became unplayable, but it is true that lots of the ones built on certain traits and skills, like zerker stance /power / ire/ I’vesaidallthisbefore are all hampered significantly.
The idea that someone “isn’t brave” because they ran from a losing fight is stupid at best.
That’s like saying that you aren’t brave if you jump out of the way of a car that is barreling at you.
A player that escapes a fight they were losing is a player that was smart enough and capable enough to escape from you. They failed to win the fight, but you failed to finish them.
He’s making the argument that it is impossible to finish them due to them being steeped in condi dura – and stuffed to the gills with Melandru runes.
That being said, and while I understand that, there is no valid nerf that could be made that won’t affect warriors that -do not- fit that spec.
I’m sorry his prey got away, but~ cant ask that they move slower.
OP you say warriors are cowards for running away. I say that guardians are cowards for building to be immortal (super tanky.) Nothing is more demoralizing than getting a guardian to 40% and then have them heal completely back up with a single heal skill or with meditations. Interrupt their heals you say, but how can you that when you used all of your attacks to get them to that 40%. Poison them you say, uhhh yeah.
He isnt talking about all warriors, just a note. Just those who have dedicated themselves to being annoying mosquitoes.
That chess reference was stellar though.

Good riddance. The warrior class is a face roll piece of button mashing garbage anyways and Anet is brilliant for the change. They earned more money from me by doing it. Go get kitten d by more thieves and then come back and QQ more ok? This was a fun read.
>Inb4 he Rolls Ranger
rofl
Who’s going to roll ranger? I play mesmer and only mesmer and anytime I want can take a kitten on warriors (without using PU). I don’t have to fear them to think they are button mashing garbage that has just been brought into the realm of having to think like at all before using skills.
As the dude above me said, if you blow all your skills and miss them, then ya you probably should lose. Just before the OP didn’t and now he’s crying, and so ya, good riddance to a class that allowed ppl to just mash kitten without penalty or thought. Now there is a new class called “Warrior” except this one you can’t just mash mash mash and win. Welcome to having to time your skills like the rest of us.
Edit: I’m not saying there aren’t people who attempt to play warrior without mashing skills, I’m sure some do and those are the hardest to fight. I’m just saying the class allowed people to just mash buttons if they chose, and now they can’t and I say good riddance to that.
Much clearer, I’m perfectly fine with having to earn my victories.

All. I need.
To not have a problem with this.
Is an option to turn it off.
That’s all.
Decay is fine.
I’m not too happy about it as it pertains to me, but then I see that delicious Hambow Warrior coming over the horizon and know immediately that he isnt gonna start with earthshaker…
That’s a good feeling.
What should we do if outnumbered? I’d like to hear your thoughts as to how being able to flee that far, that fast would be anything short of necessary for wars that were not specced for bunker when confronted with odd numbers?
I’ve started using GS in pvp, and I am all too happy to #5 right the kitten off of a point if a zerg/group comes to pick up my opponent. Much of the time, I still get expertly snagged and melt before I can even get away, even specced for condi clear.
While I am disappointed in your unsatisfying opponent, I should not have to have my escape culled just because of roaming warriors that have eyes bigger than their stomach, if you get what I mean.
I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with running away when you see trouble coming. I just find it wrong that one class can use a certain partial build to become unstoppable and uncatchable if they suddenly want to run away from combat.
I’ve only seen two or three players actually do this in PvP, it’s most common in WvW. The players who do this in PvP typically just kite any enemies who try to kite them in circles around the map, while decapping any point they find unattended.
I understand this, but seeing as how warriors are perpetually visible and lack stealth, clones, or RTL/mistform to pretty much negate damage when they are retreating, I don’t think there’s any way that you could force roaming warriors to be catchable if they decide to retreat without gutting warriors that have a valid reason to run as well.
I don’t think you should be tethering “cowardly” to “warriors” in this respect. there was a cowardly player that happened to be a warrior, that burned his whole utility bar to get away from you.
Iiits a shame that he got away. As a Warr, I can hunt people like that down because I tend to have a higher swiftness uptime than most warrs. I’d count a heavy class retreating a bagless victory though, or start saving spike damage for the inevitable run.
Because the majority of players that want to play an MMO cannot handle the overwhelming sensory information that is 5 buttons.
enjoy.
Looked good on paper, but the actual patch lacks what it promised to deliver.
TP is okay though.
I had a warrior.
I dolled up two alts: a thief and an engie.
unfortunately, due to waiting for a friend to join me, I did not level them past 15.
Guess how much I’m going to play them if I have to get my hand held through 40 levels.
This video is magnificent.
So, who fancies buying an extra character slot then?
Funny Joke! Wahahaha!
man im loving this in PVE for some reason… I feel like the dps is higher than axe now… I dunno. maybe im crazy, but im loving it
I love the new GS in Spvp. we’re both crazy.
P.S. Also to the “oh that didn’t affect my build or my gameplay at all jeez lean to play!” Fact is you WILL miss some f1s against competent players and it will kill you instantly now. Stop being so kitten hypocritical while trying to keep your kitten intact.
And as the OP said, landing a f1 isn’t THAT much of a reward, it’s nice but the risk now is simply ludicrous.
This.

Others have already explained how to catch them, and you should know the warrior that’s gone Nascar has sacrificed other things to do it… like any build/class in the game.
And none of those who claim things like “just cripple or CC them” can explain how you’re supposed to do that to a warrior with stability who is immune to conditions.
Yes, cowardly warriors sacrifice a lot of damage in order to run away unconditionally. No one is claiming that they’re overpowered, that’s not what this post is about.
What should we do if outnumbered? I’d like to hear your thoughts as to how being able to flee that far, that fast would be anything short of necessary for wars that were not specced for bunker when confronted with odd numbers?

Yeah Anet lie they sad it was gonna be 100% more damage on foes with 50% or less HP,so much for the executor style promise :I
I dont think they ever said this, your fault if you believed that “bonus” damage had to be 100%
Already stated more than once on this topic that anyone here was “imagening” that was 100% dmg increasing, that dmg icreasing was said during the livestream previewing the class changes, easily found on dulfy.
wups, stating the obvious, mybad~
Good form.
But how about:
Warriors are masters of weaponry who rely on speed, strength, toughness, and heavy armor to survive in battle. Adrenaline fuels their offensive power—the longer warriors stay in a fight, the more dangerous they become.

I don’t think we’re going to get anywhere with this, but it’s (surprisingly) fun nonetheless.
The entertainment value is through the roof.
Seeing as how I’ve run out of things to bold I guess you win , but technically you are still in combat when you’re running away so….
Maybe that works both ways? idk.
Correction. Old gamers liked complexity.
We now have players that cannot handle things being “too complicated”.
kitten the explanations of “I got my feelings hurt because Kasmeer didnt look sad when she should have”
unless this is a performance enhancement for the large influx of new players you are expecting, put the anims back.
New pastime for veterans: blindly following the safety compass.
Allow players to choose whether they want “Beginner” or “Veteran” mode upon making a new character.
Keep all the gating behind the “Beginner” mode.

hopefully its to make way for:
The separate idle animations is a good idea and would help the story telling a lot honestly.
It could even be extended to the player by tying it to the personality system they have making the animations which fit who/what the character is supposed to be like.http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Personality
Would really make all the characters feel like they had a lot more depth personally as well as improving story telling/immersion.
+1000 to this. I want to feel noble, kitten!
other than that, idk…
There is a difference between “The game is dying”
And “The player generation I enjoyed the game with is leaving.”
Aw, Warriors are no longer a class with a substantially lower skill requirement than other classes. I feel bad now.
.
This.
As long as players realize this instead of using wars as complaint fodder, I could not be more comfortable.
That being said, some specific builds got hit pretty hard. I feel bad for those.
I just need my arcing slice to be prettier
