I have to wonder how you can understand the game better by automaxing a guild hall. For those of us that did the nasty grind day after day to get it maxed out this doesn’t make sense. No way anyone can understand without going through that. I hope that they would have done that at least once.

I’m not quite sure how you failed to read, but … internal testing where you skip content is used to test things. Playing normally like everyone else is used to better understand the game.

It’s been said before that ANet won’t introduce rewards of any sort even for the winning servers because it could cause things like bandwagonning… Which of course, we know doesn’t happen especially now that world linking is in effect… huh?

I could be wrong.. but I honestly believe that the “beginning of the end” for WvW was the introduction of the Megaserver in PvE. Once we were unable to pop out to the cities and put out the call for help in WvW for our own server the crippling began.

Don’t say we can still do that now because now you are shouting out to all servers and letting everyone else know that you are putting out the call for help… which is why, of course, you don’t see that in the cities anymore.

The next thing to damage WvW was the world linking. On the surface it seemed like a nice idea to the blob festers but it has not really done much more than demoralize many linked server communities and create an environment where more people than ever don’t care about winning or losing. Sieging Keeps and Towers and keeping that siege refreshed used to be something people were happy to do. There are a few that do it.. but much less than before since the k-train blobs can actually pretty much take what they want when they really want, and k-train blobs is mostly what makes up WvW these days.

A few of us still continue to run small havoc squads in our little community that doesn’t seem to have any desire to break up and move to other servers (yuck) and we avoid the blob fest that most are involved in. We aren’t “server loyal” really since we don’t have a server. Just “yet another host” each 2 months.

I could go on but I won’t… there’s really nothing left to say. I play this game still to have fun with friends. The game mode and “features” stopped being an attraction a long time ago.

Why bother? Because p2w for whatever it means to other people seems to be in pretty much every game including GW2. You pay, you get more goodies… and this game looks like it could possibly have elements that a lot of people would like. PvP type encounters pretty much everywhere, if not everywhere.. and even aerial combat. It could very well be the place I at least try out seriously after 4 solid years and then some of playing nothing but GW2. Unless GW2 WvW starts changing in some good ways (and I don’t have answers there), I just might see myself in a “game switch” for the first time in years.

imo there is no “best” place other than the one that you enjoy the most. If your friends at in Mag then why even consider switching? From what I can see really every server is pretty much the same.. (well except Mag… they truly do have a good collection of trolls and have a lot of fun there ).. But as I said, it’s all about the fun. If you’re enjoying yourself.. stay put or you will just look backwards and say grrrr.. I should have stayed… :P

I can’t say I highly recommend it, but I absolutely love it. It suits me enormously. And in my defense, I’m not a “Mash 1” player. I have a full range of skills and I know how to use them. Even if they may be a little weak from time to time.

Just so you know… playing two bows of the same type doesn’t get you anything since the cooldown is there whether or not you switch.

Using Longbow and Shortbow on the other hand with Ranger/Druid is a lot of fun (for me anyway). People say damage is not useful anymore but they’re not right there. With this combo I have two super useful weapons and they are able to do some very nice power-downs. More often than not I have people running away from me instead of standing and fighting… and with 1500 range… that’s not a smart thing to do…

A change like this would definitely be the end of WvW period. Those that actually like EoTM would probably like this… the rest of us that make up the true WvW would say byebye… period.

I use lb and sb with ranger. Love it. Full marauders lots of damage.

answered my own question.. you are not on SBI or any of the linked servers to it.. But in WvW we’ve been encountering a similar situation that appears to be happening between the two upper servers.. No big deal really since it does nothing to change my personal game play.. but an observation.

one of these thiefs thought it was a good idea to hide in bay after we capped. He would have probably got away with it much longer except that he decided to move from the good spot he was in… we got inside and people kept running around trying to find him even though he had stopped moving. haaa… I walked over to his dot (because tracking was still on)… and just started swinging the good ol’ sword until he unstealthed then, well, he died quickly after that.. man you think he might have at least tried to attack.. bahaa

I have to say that under the current matchup for us it’s a lot like what you say Chaba. Except for DBL it seems that our groups, even the larger ones of around 30 get steamrolled by the much huger k-trains. Which is one of the reasons I’m not that interested in the big zerg/blob scene. I prefer to run with a smaller group of 4-10 people and find other small groups to fight while taking mostly smaller objects and even keeps now and then while the blobs are fighting elsewhere on a map.

You can’t change anything in this game by screaming in here. The salty’s would be best to either find a way to have fun or another game. My friends are here and frankly that’s it. As for the ridiculous scoring and concern over PPT.. pffftt! who the heck cares.. not me, will never care about the score. Will find fights, defend keeps (because some good fights there) and find ways to have fun. But complaining? meh… all done there.. kick butt, stomp heads, repeat.

What I said though was that they/you? all left apparently, then we left and next thing we knew a couple minutes later inner lords room was swamped with enemy… I have to assume that east inner was taken down as well but with the keep being T3 that would have been one heck of a quick takedown…

nooo.. I kinda messed with the timeline… it was three that kept jumping across… and although they came in through se gate I still didn’t see where the inner breech was… unless I was seriously totally blinded by the sea of red… :P

This seriously needs to be fixed then… I’m sure this should NOT be something any class should be able to do.

Since when is it possible for any class to jump from the outter wall in Garri to the inner wall, on the NE side of Garri. 3 Dragon Hunters in SBI did this over and over again tonight and sadly I don’t have a recording thing set up.

If anyone knows how this can be done legitimately please let me know. There were over 50 people on the outter walls. Then they all left… after we had all left Garri to go after Bay suddenly they were all back in Lords room with no outside walls down..

DBL obviously isn’t the favorite.. but in our matchup it’s not exactly barren. The last couple of nights we’ve had lots of action… of course not EB (ugh don’t like that place), or like the other BL’s, but still fun.

People say in here that the folks that voted for it don’t play it.. Maybe that’s true to a degree… but I see a lot of people running in DBL when needed, and frankly love to spend as much time there as possible. If you get to know the map inside/out it’s not that hard to get around and fun to battle for keeps. yaya I’m sure enough people will go boooo on this but frankly I don’t care. I’m glad the DBL is here… hope it stays… and will continue to make it my first stop in WvW, and usually my last.

I have no hate for Monkey actually. I just have zero time for his YELLING and such that he puts out. He might be a good scout… but since he yells about everything and anything it’s more like “the sky is falling”… for me shutting the noise off works much better.

He was the one thing that caused me to leave WvW when I first started back when he was on BP.

In answer to the OPs question.. what makes me care about my server now is the community that we have. Regardless of who we get linked with now there is a core group that manage to continue to stay together and find ways to have fun in WvW. It’s NOT about the blobbing. If we could have our own server identity again that would be superb but we know that won’t happen.. so we continue on.. and BP server community continues to be a fun place to be.

Try all marauders stats with sup rune of the wurm… lots of power, over 200% crit damage, 44% crit chance, 24k+ health, toughness around 1700 … depending on stacks and food and skill buffs etc you can find yourself hitting with 3k power from time to time as well.. Very nasty hitter..

It’s not meta… but meta isn’t that great really imo… I run condi on one ranger and frankly I like this one better. Takes down camps pretty fast … It doesn’t, nor does much, deal with a crap load of condi from a group hitting you… but it’s a good roaming build.

If your friend refused to rep during times that it was important to the guild to do so, then depending on the guild they may want non reppers to leave. If it was a casual PvE guild with this attitude though, she is better off finding another guild.

Actually you don’t have to rep the guild in order to get credit for the missions, both for you and for the guild running the mission. All you need to do is be IN the guild that is doing the mission and take part in it. You will get your credit, and the guild will get its favor. I know this through personal experience.

You can’t even see guild trek locations if you are not repping the guild.

lol yes there are instances where you really have to rep like this one. but not all.

Repping also makes the yellow guild mate dots show on the map. But to be honest there is nothing wrong with the system itself its just guilds (specially for PvE) who force you into it for some reason thats weird. The only things it does for PVE:
- show guild mates as yellow dots on the map
- gives you the waypoint discount of 5,10 or 15% if the guild you rep has it unlocked
- determines your /g chat channel (note that you can always use your /g1-/g5 chanels to talk to other guild even when you do not rep them.
- allows you to interact with guildhall NPC’s
- determines which guild tag is show next to your character

You do not need to rep to enter a guild hall (as indicated above) or even the guild mission instances. (you do need to rep in order to get rewards though).

We never required representing not even in the old influence system. Since the new system the only thing we ask (but not require) is that members keep our guild chat visible. But ofcourse guilds are player driven and other guilds can make other rules…… you can ofcourse try to bring this to the attention of your guild leaders and ask them to change but thats about it. If you do not like a guild for any reason (like the forced representing) leave and find a guild that does not have such a policy.

The system itself is fine as it is.

I receive rewards when running with other guilds that I"m in even if I’m not repping. Not sure what your mileage is on this but for me it’s not a problem.. both for me, and for the guild. The key is participation in the mission.

Every skill except for the new elite skills.. You need to farm hero points for those. IN HoT, Tyria, or in WvW.

You don’t lose anything if you don’t delete the character.

There is no real reason they should or will add gliding to WvW. As many have noted it’s just not something that would be good to have except maybe for those PvE players that like to glide. Give me gliding then give me mass invisibility so the zerg on the ground can shoot the zerg in the sky without being seen… and so on and so on…

Nope, just nerf condi and the other gimicks and give us back good old hard fighting! Now THAT would be fun.

so many, where to start… one is being stained by people because I don’t get into teamspeak. I may be following a tag at a given time but really doing my own thing.. Not everyone needs to be on teamspeak unless they are part of the zerg/blob and really trying to give support to the bigger group. People seriously need to remember that THEIR mode of play isn’t the only one. WINNING in WvW means nothing other than “we won something”… no rewards, nothing.

Some of us actually like to come in and provide support in other ways.

In the meantime… what I dislike the most about WvW… server linking! ugh. Merge if you have to but linking sucks.

wow… cleaning bags even completely full for me usually takes at most 5 minutes.. and that’s if I’m taking my time. Global salvage, portable merchant… anywhere and simple.. Not sure I understand the issue here…

Selling the low level stuff on the TP, to me, is a waste of time… just sell it to the vendor.

so odd.. I’ve never had to wait for a vet… there are a few on each map it seems and easy to find, even in the water at the south end of the Alpine bl’s… If by any chance one isn’t there, it take a minute or two at best to find another… .. just sayin.

In the last 1503 days (4 years) I have played 7663 hours up to this moment across all characters. That’s an average of 5 hours per day. GW2 addiction or what? Well it used to be.

There was a time when I didn’t even know these forums existed and pounded in GW2 / WvW for all it was worth. Finding friends, finding enemies to go after. Some days were as much as 12 hours on weekends. As I’m reading my email this morning from one of my friends asking (where have you been?) I realize that those days are gone.

I’ve said it in the forums how my 95% time in gw2 was spent in WvW at one time, and now it’s diminished. But my time in the game period has dropped to an all time low.

It’s the same song you keep hearing here about the direction of WvW and server linking. I have seen so many of my WvW die hard friends just drop out of WvW (or gw2 altogether), or do what I do and that’s go into WvW for missions or maybe a bit of havoc for a short bit and then leave. With the linking we have the one big issue that we no longer have a server to represent. Just a host, which in this case trolls us a huge amount of the time unless we just do our own thing quietly, that I personally have no interest in supporting.

Other hosts have been much more receptive but at the end of the day they are hosts and NOT our home world.

I figured I’d post this little bit in its own spot since I logged in this morning to GW2 to do my daily pickup of mats (not sure why I do that except out of habit), and then log out since none of my friends are in yet. While I was in I thought I’d to a /age check and surprised myself at how much I see I used to play, which is about 4 times the amount I play now.

Ah well, I will keep coming into the game to see friends but as things are going, (and obviously will continue to go), I will not likely tag up in WvW in the foreseeable future if ever with the current set up. Nor do I have a huge amount of interest in the same old other stuff this game has. The only reason I haven’t stopped altogether is because there is no monthly subscription. Or, (as in the case of WoW), it would be uninstalled.

ANet, I realize this makes zero difference on how you will continue to do things moving forward. But I just wanted to post my personal stats here as my final post to these forums. As I said in one forum entry.. it’s like spitting into a gale.. and frankly I’m going to keep my face dry from now on.

Obviously I haven’t gone away. I have found some new life in the way of some awesome guild members and friends that continue to hang in there. I have also found new direction in WvW and that is simply doing what seems to be fun at the moment. Score means nothing. Tier means nothing. If I defend I do it because the mood hits… if I zerg (rarely) I do it just for fun… mostly if I’m in WvW I’m roaming alone or with friends… The intense focus and dedication to keeping all the land my own colour has faded with the move away from the way things once were.

It’s all good for me though really… having fun again, my own way. Rock on!

Eh what? WvW ranks is a fixed amount of XP no matter if you are rank 50 or 5000. Getting 2 ranks is like 30 minutes if you EB zerg, maybe an hour otherwise. There is nothing hard about it.

Either way, the dailies are there to encourage you to play all the aspects of the game. Not just WvW. Some are more annoying than the rest, true. But if you do something in PvE for less than 5 minutes, maybe do a single sPvP match and WvW for less than 5 minutes you are basicly guaranteed completing the 2g daily. It has to be really kittenty RNG to fail.

If you only do WvW dailies to complete it – which undoubtedly will take longer – then that is your choice. People complaining about this only have themselves to blaim. Dont want to do easy dailies? Then dont complain.

I think that you miss the point of the dailies… For many people it’s NOT just about getting that little 2g hit for doing 3 dailies.. Many people like to do ALL the dailies they can in every aspect of the game they can. Anyone who plays this game a lot knows it’s super easy to get the 2g for the daily stuff… and that’s without even trying really.. I get that when I’m on within the hour regardless of where I am it seems.

But for those that like to do all the dailies (and I know a few myself) then this becomes a different issue.

The OP makes the WvW dailies sound more difficult than they actually are, and for him that’s a reality. Slapping people down for their view isn’t productive. Providing reasonable answers and solutions is.

I wvw. That is what I do, and usually I’m doing the job most can’t be bothered to do like babysitting a keep and keeping the siege in world so it don’t despawn (often at hills, garri and bay at the same time). Oh and I also play in the wee hours of the morning while most are sleeping so jump back.

Yes Kamara… and THAT is another one of the problems with the dailies that just came to mind. There seriously should be a daily that involves maintaining a Keep for a specified period of time… or refreshing a certain number of siege etc.

The fact that there are so very few people like you is disappointing… but the fact that there ARE people like you there that actually help your team have a chance against an incoming blob because the siege was still there is a blessing!

ANet should really make a new daily that involves siege maintenance in Keeps!

I almost hate to say this but in the course of a night if I join up with an active group in WvW it seems that the dailies always take care of themselves. Even the rank up… I don’t believe it’s a full rank.. just a rank level…. get that rank bar from one side to the other.. I always get the daily when that happens.
As for the veterans… there are more than one on each map and so easy to get that they’re boring… I’ll usually get a few hits in while people take it down then leave to the next thing… always get the credit… yep I’m lazy that way.. :P But really more interested in the real wvw stuff and absolutely never focused on the dailies..

As noted.. the dailies always take care of themselves for me when I join an active group… large or small.. it’s not hard if you have a group that knows what they’re doing.. and DBL is always there for a Keep capture… there almost always seems to be one that is T1 and an easy cap…. and DBL being what it is I’ve taken keeps with 3 people more than once…

Please re-read the quote in my post above yours. There WAS a vote asking if DBL should have been discontinuated or not. And DBL won.

Agreed… if anyone saw that poll and didn’t see that they had the option to vote against DBL completely then they didn’t read it well enough. It was there, I voted to KEEP DBL on at least one map… and happy for it.

My guild has PvP Stronghold as a mission this week. We never did it and yet it says I have received rewards for it. None of the other guilds I’m in have this mission even set to be run and yet it says I got rewards…. Which I never got, and my guild never got favor for it either of course…

Gotta love it… not….
