I think a mistake a lot of people make with Charr is that Militaristic = dull and humorless. A Wacky charr is quite possible without breaking lore. Go to Diessa plateau and see Mad Mardine, or Roj the rowdy butcher for examples of funny charr.
I think the Charr are masters of dry, ironic humor in Tyria.
I refuse to work with flame legion traitors on anything, they used Effigies powered by the life force of Charr prisoners chained inside them and burned alive! Besides, they all work for Primodus these days, and I’m kind of committed to fighting dragon minions at this stage.
Also, I think we have a good working relationship with those Asuran gremlins, any time they invent something useful, Ash steal the plans, Iron figure out how to make it work PROPERLY and mass produce it!
Charr have a liking for fire, and by extension, explosions. I think that explains how they were always better at fire magic than any other element, that was just what they liked using most, so they got more practice.
I’m sure Charr have probably eaten humans at some time. Personally none of mine would unless starving. you never know WHERE they’ve BEEN!
Orichalcum’s power comes from it being made entirely from Toblerones!

I remember two grawl in a story mission arguing over whos God was stronger. The “gods” were a rock, and a stick!
“Whenever I plan, I fall asleep”
Dinky
At least greatswords have been fixed, at first they mostly seemed to dig into a charr’s back when not drawn. If that’s fixed, hopefully the single handed variety will be as well before long. Until then, if it really bothers you, go with axes.
Or how about makes you sing the lumberjack song from monty python?
Yeah I think having to transmute it is “Working as intended”. May not like it, but I don’t think it’s an accident.
I would really like to see a Volley gun pistol in GW2
something like this
http://www.horstheld.com/6.JPG
or this
http://www.dave-cushman.net/shot/jpg/duckfoot3.jpg
Either of those or a Pepperbox pistol (early form of revolver with the cylinder forming the entire length of the barrels) http://www.rockislandauction.com/photos/1018/p_standard/XJK3-K-F2-H.jpg
would be epic.
you can pick a companion npc for the Charr Storyline, sadly they only stick around for the first 2 arcs, then you leave to join an Order and they stay behind to manage the warband for you.
I think it’d be great if you could have a guild airship that takes a crew to control (pilot, gunners, engineers etc) it’d start out quite small and could be traded up for bigger models (if you have enough people to crew a bigger ship) or upgraded with better guns/engines/armour if you want to stick with a small crew. There would need to be some kind of guild v guild pvp mode for these airships to fight in, or maybe missions to go chase dragon lieutenants.
I kind of prefer fighting dragons with ranged weapons so I can actually aim at the head convincingly rather than sitting bashing it in the foot until it dies.
Mass Charr Hakka would be especially epic if you arranged them like a Rugby team!
I got into Charr for the steampunk, and cos Rytlock was the most epic of destiny’s edge for me in the trailer. I stuck around for the humor. Charr do have a sense of humor you know, (even Rytlock cracks a few jokes to you if you play the charr storyline). Cow racing, cow launching, Jazz singing butchers and the whole odd couple relationship of Galena Edgecrusher and Snarl Backdraft. The cubs are great to listen to as well.
They were probably originally a social symbol. A charr with bigger horns that you will probably be stronger than you, so it’s best NOT to pick a fight with them unless you have to. While this is probably less effective now the Charr have guns and swords, which can even out differences in physical strength. It probably still subconsciously helps keep brawling down to an acceptable limit by discouraging lower ranked charr from challenging their superiors.
There is one other issue, which is that Rytlock is a warrior, but he uses a sword and PISTOL. A combination no player Warrior can use.
Roman names often sound solid on a Charr, especially if you can find one that means something apt.
Cornelius (Horned) would suit any charr.
Vincentius (Conqueror) would be in the right mindset of any self respecting charr
Flaccus (floppy ears) would work too, if you gave him really long ears.

I think the unfinished nature of it was a deliberate dig at indie games like Minecraft that release in alpha. It would be sad to have to wait a whole year for world 2 though.
Given the amount of time that’s probably gone into this, it does seem a tad wasteful to just throw it away after a month. I would like to see more skins too, a super pistol would be nice, at least my engineer could get something useful then.
For a female officer
“Is that a hidden pistol you’re packing soldier, or are you just happy to see me?”
“You’re looking at him like he’s a slab of meat.”
“That’s right. You got a problem with that?”
“Yeah, you’re blocking my view!”
Two female Citizens by the Imperial Smelter in the black citadel.
“Funny. No, I’m literally poetry in motion… if poetry could stab you with a sword!”
Unnamed Charr crusader boasting to a Norn Crusader in the story mission “Defending the Keep”
May ranger has a carrior Devourer called Rocktail Jr, and sometimes a pet eagle called Eddy.
“If only I could get more aerodynamic cows. That would reduce the bovine windspeed vector and account for barometric perturbance.”
Mad Mardine and his “Cattlepult” bovine launch system.
Another one from Dieessa plateau, the village of Butchers block
“Check this out, it’s cheese and meat, CHEESY MEAT!”
“Can I has cheesy meat?”
“Hungry cub is hungry.”
Rija Firemasher and an unnamed cub (edited cos I noticed the npc was named)

Pistol crossbow for theif maybe? a 1 handed silent bolt launcher seems like their style

I’d like to see at least some ranger pets dance when their owner does, sort of like how the Ritualist’s spirits would dance with them in GW1
I know it’d be hard to make some of the creatures dance, but there’s already a moa dance, and the siege devourer dance from Eye of the north shouldn’t be impossible to scale down to a pet devourer.
technically, you could count the riding broom as a mount. But I’m guessing you mean something closer to the rideable siege devourer they had in Eye of the north.

Myself, I’d actually like to see at least a temporary event transform that lets us control Charr steam tanks.
“Hmmm do-do bom bom… I’m delirious, I’m deserving, I’m desiring delicious meat! Do do de de… Yay, meat! MEAT! Uh-huh. Singing about meat. Oh yeah!”
Roj the rowdy butcher in Diessa plateau doing his Charr Jazz thing.
I think you can get quite a good looking effect with a white base and yellow tiger stripes, comes out a bit like a strawberry tiger.

“More dazed soldiers staggering around in their skivvies. Either we’re on the right track, or we missed the best party ever!” Rytlock Brimstone in the Blood legion charr story mission “Rage Suppression”.
This line totally cracked me up, cos it’s Rytlock saying it! It’s so unexpected from him and it’s a side of his personality you just don’t see if you’re any other race.
My warrior especially would probably grin, puff his chest out and boast that he can bite through a Centaur’s leg with em!
The Charr legion weapon skins all have gold inlay, there’s no REASON for them to have it, the Charr just prefer a weapon that’s effective AND flashy to one that does the butchery just as well but looks plain. I imagine a male charr buying his mate a shiny new richly decorated blade to try and make up if they’d had a row. Humans say it with flowers and chocolates, Charr say it with elegantly decorated weapons, and bacon!
The design of the walls built by the Jotun in the shiverpeaks seems to be making a homage to the rebel shield generator from Star wars; The Emprie strikes back.

Nicholas Sandford, aka Nick the traveler’s grave is in the graveyard in Ebonhawk, right next to a ring of small stones that mark the grave of Professor Yakkington!
Norn male level up shout “BY THE POWER OF ME!” Is a spoof of Prince Adam’s shout of “By the power of Greyskull!” From the original 1980s He-Man cartoon.
All the Asura technicians in the Fractal’s starting area look like star wars storm troopers! (very SMALL storm troopers, obviously)
That pretty much sums it up as I understand it too, the graduating class pass out as a new warband. Though I suspect the legionnaire in charge may well be a more senior charr, maybe a survivor from a warband that has taken too many casualties to be effective. At least until such time as one of the nubs gets promoted to the role.
As far as what happens if a charr fails their final exam, whatever form that takes. The idea of the Fahrar seems to be they’d be matched with other charr of similar aptitudes so failing would mean they were unacceptably bad even at the thing they were best at doing. So a failed charr would probably become a gladium.

Of course the big flaw in starting this post is that if anyone else from this hide and seek match sees it they’re going to have a list of places to find you! LOL
Looks from this, like a playable Tengu race may already be in development. I hope so, an Avian race is not something I’ve seen as an option in many games.
Only Mentor I ever really cared about loosing was Tybalt. Poor guy used a hunter rifle too. HE WAS ONLY 3 WEEKS FROM A LEGENDARY, MAN!
Isolationism and lack of overseas trade cause other things besides ecconomic difficulties. With Cantha having no real external threat, or competition, it’s likely to have largely gotten stuck in a rut. If Cantha is based on a largely Chinese model, look what several centuries of isolation did there. Cantha is likely to have advanced much less than Tyria where constant wars and competition between races followed by dragon attacks have been stimulating everyone to develop new ideas and technologies.
The Charr barricade fort Steeleye Span is named after a British folk/rock music band formed in the 1970s.

I’d agree that Cantha is probably a very sick state at the moment, and in no position to invade another continent. I also suspect that the current emperor there is probably under the influence of an elder dragon, since their isolationist/xenophobic policies are exactly inline with the elder dragon’s desire to divide and conquer the races of Tyria. Which elder dragon is involved is unclear since we only know the elder dragons living in Tyria at present.
Isolated from overseas trade, Cantha will have turned in on it’s self. The absence of imported raw materials will have seriously slowed industry, and any technological innovation is likely to have been stunted due to the imperial government suppressing anything that could upset their hold on absolute power. Indeed, there may well have been a reversal of technological advancement. Gunpowder weaponry may well have been banned as this would be ideal for insurgents to use against an oppressive regime.
There may well have been expansion into the interior of Cantha to the lands beyond the inland jade sea in search of wood, and metal ores. So Kaineng may not be starving, yet. What is likely is that there is a widening gap between the rich elite, and the vast horde of urban destitute living with very little in the way of rights and governed by corrupt officials.
Given that the people were always somewhat more free thinking and open to outsiders and other races on Shining Jea Island, I would not be surprised if on return to Cantha that we end up there first, and that we will be met by a resistance movement based there. The mountains would be a lot easier to operate in than the choked streets of Kaineng city. The Tengu also used to live there, and may well still have contacts, so I suspect they will be involved in any return to Cantha.
I can’t look at a Karka without hearing this in my head!

I’m Also rather annoyed that Ogres, and even an Asura npc get to have raptors for pets, but my ranger doesn’t. I’d have rather had a raptor following me than a frikking Moa bird. There isn’t even a raptor mini this time round.
The biggest challenge for a Charr ranger, is not eating your pets! If you are having difficulty try picking companions from less appetizing species.

The whole tail clipping thing annoys me too. medium armour has it worst as the vast majority of medium armours have long coat tails with no tail slot. For my engineer I found the Commando set a nice alternative to the tribal look, again this tail clips though. They have tried to make a tail slot, but it’s too low so the tail clips through above it!
